AP Express - ATV - iPad2

I have various DVD's downloaded and converted to H.264 format and they have been transferred into iTunes and then on to the iPad 2.  There are about 40.
I have been using a 15 ft. HDMI cable with the iPad adapter to watch them on the TV.
I now ordered the ATV and also the Airport Express Base Station for my home in FL.  It has no Internet because we are only down about 1 week at a time 6-7 times during the year.
My question is will I be able to use the ATV and the Airport Express to watch my video's on the big screen using my iPad 2?  Any things that I should be aware of when I install both in 2 weeks when we go down for vacation?  The cable thing is a pain and watching wirelessly would be a real plus.
Thanks for the help and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No one knows?????

  • How do I add my AirPrint printer to my WiFi (airport express) with iPad2?

    Hi!
So, my questions relates to how do I connect my printer (a Samsung Express M2022W) to my existing network? All the instructions that I can find relates to how I print from my iPad2 but that is now my problem. I do not have a computer, only an iPad2 so. I seem unable to figure out how I get my printer to connect to my network/WiFi.
    Thank you in advance.

You will need to consult the manual for the device - I believe the link below is correct and should help.

  • What is the approximate range of Airport Express for iPad2?

What is the approximate range for Airport Express to use with iPad2?

Clearly the range is impacted by the walls in the transmission path.  However, I was able to get about sixty feet.  As this was no different than that with my Westell-7500 modem/router ("g" standard) from Verizon, I returned the Express.

  • IPhone to multiple Airport Express/ATVs

before the latest iOS upgrade to my iPhone I could stream to multiple Airport Expresses from my iPhone at one time.  Now I can't select more than one at a time.  Can anyone help?

My question is will the Airport Express units ethernet ports have a live signal that wired Macs can plug into to join the network like a router?
    Yes.

  • Cannnot access airport express from ipad2

I tried restarting just about everything. I turned everything off and on again, restarted the network settings on iPad2 but still nothing but a spinning wheel. I can access it from my Macbook just fine, everything is green, but after I login with my password on my iPad2 it seems like it's trying to access the internet but nothing happens but a never ending spinning wheel.

    workaround: click file/configure other - who would-a-guessed.

  • Apple. Thank you! (Seriously)

I have to say that 2.3 is a welcome update. Not only Apple fixed the foreign language issues, introduced some neat features (3rd party remote, Airport Express/ATV streaming - look out Sonos), but the multi-track is now working better than I expected. I have created 4 movies with 2 AAC and 2 AC3 tracks, and they all work REGARDLESS of the order you have them in. Kewl.
I am starting to get that old-fashion feeling About AppleTV again....

    I agree!
Just got my AppleTV a few weeks ago and this new update is great.
The addition of Video Playlist is a great way to select what gets synced instead of scrolling through a long list of movies selecting and deselecting check boxes.
But I'm still annoyed that one cannot add a USB HD to the ATV - it does not seem very eco-friendly having to keep my iMac running all the time to stream movies - would be better to be able to sync them all - or have the AppleTV become the central repository for all iTunes content and have the iMac stream instead - since the ATV uses much less power.

  • How To Set Up Airport Express To Use With iPad2 For My Needs ?

On the advice of several people in a audio forum, I just purchase an Apple Airport Express. I will be using it with my new iPad 2. What I need to accomplish is using my iPad2 to stream subscription based music from the internet to the Airport Express, and for the Airport Express to connect via toslink cable to the DAC in my audio system.
What I am not sure about is how to set up my Airport Express to accomplish this. I do have a wireless network in my home, but wish to keep the wireless connectivity between the Airport Express and the iPad2 separate from it.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this. Thanks.

Deggie, firstly, thank you for your attempt to help. I greatly appreciate it. I connected it via the ethernet cable to the router since when I reconfigured the Airport Express adding it to my existing wireless system, the iPad could not connect to anything until I unplugged the Airport Express. I set it up for an ethernet connection to my router based on that experience.
Either the Ipad does not seem able to send anything to the Airport Express, or the AEX is not passing anything on. I also tried streaming a song stored on the iPad 2 to the AEX with no result, so it is not an issue with the subscription channel.
I don't own a miniplug cable of any sort for further testing, but the toslink cable is brand new, and was literally taken out of its package and plugged in, so I feel it extremely unlikely it is the issue. I've also tested it in three inputs on the DAC, so it is definitely not an issue with it.
I have a question though. You said "when you start your subscription and go to Airplay, does the iPad see the AEX?" You may be on to something there. How do I "go to Airplay" I thought it was just automatic?  Also, how do I "select it"? This may be the problem.

    Greetings sletzel,
It seems you are unable to connect your Apple TV to a wireless network. I've located an article that may help. It contains troubleshooting steps you may want to explore:

  • Airport Express error 6753 and IPAD2 "interference"

Airport Express works fine with my pc(Vista) until my brother-in-law comes with his IPAD2 and connects. My pc will connect to the Express(wireless network), but won't go on the internet. Can't get the Airport Utility to communicate either: error 6753. When the IPAD2 leaves everything works fine again. Any ideas? Thanks

I had a hard time to re-configure my Airport Express after an automatic update by Apple (New firmware for Airport Extreme) It just wouldn't work on my Leopard machine. (express was not responding, amber light flashing, unable to fetch configuration settings...etc.) Now, I've downgraded the firmware for the Express again (from 6.3 to 6.1.1) and i used a powerbook with tiger installed to configure the express. Now it all seems to work again. It took a lot of time to figure things out, wich is a shame, but I'm happy to have it all working again. And perhaps this knowledge is usefull to others.

  • HT204371 Does Airport Express need to be configured to allow AirPlay to work between an iPhone 4s and an iPad2?

Does Airport Express need to be configured to allow AirPlay to work between an iPhone 4s and an iPad2?
Also, attempting to use Airplay with iOS7 shuts off sound to the speakers while allowing sound thru the ear buds!  The fix was to restart by depressing the lock switch (opposite the sound out port).

Does Airport Express need to be configured to allow AirPlay to work between an iPhone 4s and an iPad2?
You need a minimum of three things for AirPlay:
An iTunes host. This can be a Mac, PC, or iOS device.
    A wired or wireless network.
An AirPlay Speaker. This can be an AirPort Express, Apple TV, or a AirPlay-Ready device.
Is your goal to stream between two iOS devices?

  • Can my Airport Express be used to extend the signal for an iPad2

I am using a Linksys wired router as the beginning of my home network. There is an ethernet cable running from it through a wall to the Xbox 360 and an Airport Express serving as the base for the wireless network. I have an iBook on the other side of the wall and about 10 feet and an iMac about 20 feet with one wall in between. These two have some fluctuation in their signal but only between 4 bars and 3. I just got an iPad 2 and it is causing me grief because it struggles to maintain a connection just another 10 feet from the iBook. If I put it next to the iMac when it has full 4 bars the iPad gets maybe 2. The iPad has full bars if next to the router. That kind of defeats the purpose of buying an iPad. So, my question is how to rearrange the network so the iPad is happy in the living room where I mostly use it. I had considered moving the iMac and using it as a base station to free the Airport Express for other duty but where I want to move it is further away from the living room. Right now the Airport is wired to the router. Is this necessary for it to be a part of the network? I know I can use it to get music from iTunes to speakers but would that placement also work as a wireless extender? Would just buying another router for the Xbox location and putting the Airport there also be a better solution?

ladybastet, let's clean up some terminology. You should designate only one router for your network. At present that is the Linksys. Your wireless access point is the Express, and it gets its network connection from the Linksys. Is that correct?
If I put it next to the iMac when it has full 4 bars the iPad gets maybe 2. The iPad has full bars if next to the router.
Now that you know your Linksys is the router, is the above correct? Unless the Linksys is also a wireless access point, the iPad's proximity to it will not matter. Only its proximity to the device creating the wireless network is a factor. In your case, I believe that is the Express.
There is an ethernet cable running from it through a wall to the Xbox 360 and an Airport Express serving as the base for the wireless network.
I'm not sure I understand. Is one Ethernet cable going to two places? What is it connected to, precisely?
Right now the Airport is wired to the router. Is this necessary for it to be a part of the network?
In the case of a wired router, yes.
I'm wondering if you have things configured properly, particularly if you have configured the iMac to share its network connection over AirPort. I'm even wondering if your iPad has unintentionally joined a neighbor's wireless network.
I had considered moving the iMac and using it as a base station to free the Airport Express for other duty but where I want to move it is further away from the living room.
Using the iMac to share a wired Ethernet connection to create its own wireless network is certainly possible, but it is less than ideal. For one, the iMac would have to be powered on all the time.
You do not need or want another router.
It is impossible for me to be certain of your network environment (meaning, the size and configuration of your home, the proximity of competing wireless networks, the number of network devices, and the potential for interference) but you might be better off replacing the wired Linksys router with an AirPort Extreme. That would give you the ability to create a "roaming network" or to use your Express to extend the Extreme's wireless network. I think this would be the easiest solution, but given the uncertainly of your description this expense may not be necessary.
Much of my confusion stems from your original question: "Can my Airport Express be used to extend the signal for an iPad2" - the quick answer is yes, but a prerequisite question is, "what signal?" The only "signal" I can determine that may be relevant is the one created by the Express. Once we have the terminology fixed, perhaps we can fix what's wrong with your network.

I have not been able to see my ATV or Airport Express listed under the airplay icon in itunes 11. This started since I upgraded to iTunes 11 on my Windows 8 laptop.
My ATV is hardwired to the wireless router. My laptop and airport express connect to home network wirelessly. All devices are running their latest versions.
    Any ideas?
