AP express without modem

Is it possible to set a 3rd gen AP Express to stream from an iPhone or iPad to an appleTV WITHOUT A MODEM INVOLVED.
IN OTHER WORDS USE IT EXCLUSIVELY AS A INTRANET DEVICE ?

I have my iPhone with the ap utility running and the ap express plugged in the iPhone says no ap base stations have been found and the ap express blinks orange.
You did perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Express by holding in the reset button for 9-10 seconds, releasing, and allowing a full minute for the AirPort Express to restart, correct?
Using your iPad, please walk us through each step that you are taking to configure the Express.
What happens after each step?

  • Airport express without modem

I am traveling and want to use my airport express airplay with a Bose Wave radio in a location with limited wireless.  Do I need a wireless network to use airplay to my imac?

Hello Low77. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Can you set up a wireless network using Airport Express without a modem?
Yes. By default, the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) will create a stand-alone wireless network which you can connect up to 10 wireless clients for file or printer sharing.
Can I just plug in the ethernet cable on my desk to Airport Express for it to work?
You do not need to plug it into an Ethernet cable for it to work. However, if you require network or Internet access, the Ethernet cable needs to be connected to a network or have Internet access.

  • I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad, will that work?

I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad, will that work? And one more thing about the setup, the linksys router shich acts as a base is in a different room as the airport express which i wanted to use for airplay. So I'm hoping to hook up the Airport express via wireless signal. If i can set it up, can someone pls help me out by posting detailed instructions. Thanks so much!

The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network".

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite I can not run my airport express' without having to reset each of them every time I wish to use them. Does anyone know what the problem is?

I am running a 7 year old MacBook Pro 15. Since upgrading to Yosemite I can not run my airport express' without having to reset each of them every time I wish to use them. I did not have this problem with Mavericks OSX. Does anyone know what the problem is and is there a fix?

  • Can you make iPhone ringtones (M4R) in Logic Express without GarageBand 08?

Can you make iPhone ringtones (M4R) in Logic Express without GarageBand 08?
    If so how?
    Thanks,
    Ed

Not exactly ... while you can make a ringtone with any application that you would like, Soundtrack Pro 2 and Logic do not have a conversion to the ringtone format. Mv4R or something like that. GarageBand does.
I answered my own question I guess
    Thanks anyway,

  • Can I connect my ipad2 with my aiport express without a pc?

Can I connect my ipad2 with my aiport express without a pc?

Yes. However, you would need a PC or Mac to administer the AirPort base station.

  • Boost network signal using AirPort Express without using WDS?

I want to boost the signal on my network using my airport express without setting up a WDS network, is this possible?
I had previously set up my Time Capsule as a WDS main and my airport express as a WDS remote, but this slowed the network down dramatically.

If you have an AirPort Express 802.11n, you can configure it to "extend a wireless network" and maintain "n" speeds on the network with a minimum of bandwidth loss.
Check the model number of your Express is you are not sure which version you have. Look on the side of the device for the Model Number. Model No. A 1264 is the "n" version.
Post back if you have this version and need more info on the "extend" setup.

  • Can I play ipad / iphone etc direct to airport express without router or internet?

Can I play ipad / iphone etc direct to airport express without router or internet?

Something must produce a wireless signal to do what you want.
The AirPort Express is a router.
Is it possible to configure the AirPort Express to "create a wireless network" and then ignore the messages informing you that you do not have an Ethernet cable plugged into the Express, and do not have an Internet connection / DNS service.

  • Can i transmit music from iphone to airport express without being connected to internet?

  • Communications Express without Calendar???

Hi all, is it possible to install Communications Express without Calendar Server running? I get the impression from Sun's docs that in order to install Comms Express you first need Messaging Server and Calendar Server running. The reason I ask is that our current iMS5.2 environment is to be upgraded to JES Messaging Server 6.3 but, for the time being, we are not in need of a Calendaring system. This may change in the future.
I am particularly interested in knowing whether it is possible to install Comms Express providing just messaging services and later, let's say in 6mths, add Calendaring services.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stewart

I get the impression from Sun's docs that in order to install Comms Express you first need Messaging Server and Calendar Server running. You need calendar server running if during the configuration of UWC you enable the calendar component:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4440/6n6jfgche?a=view
So in your case, just de-select the calendar component.

This may change in the future. Sounds fair to me. Why introduce the added complexity of calendar if you don't need it post-upgrade. Please note however that the outlook connector requires calendar to be installed/configured in UWC.
I am particularly interested in knowing whether it is possible to install Comms Express providing just messaging services and later, let's say in 6mths, add Calendaring services.Yes you can do this by setting the calendar related settings in:
    /var/opt/SUNWuwc/WEB-INF/config/uwcconfig.properties

  • MeetingPlace Express without Cisco Unified Communications Manager

    Hi Guys,
I need your inputs on using MeetingPlace Express without a PBX.
It's required for Audio, Video and Web conferencing for close to 50 ports.
The video endpoints will be H.323 based Video Devices (with audio capability).
I wanted to check if these devices can be registered directly to a Cisco IO Gatekeeper and have a trunk between MPE and GK. Not sure if this is feasible since there won't be any PBX.
I'll appreciate if someone can guide me for the feasibility of this option. If its feasible I would like to know how and what kind of limitations can be there?
I tried searching on NetPro but failed to find a post depicting this. If this is already asked earlier kindly guide me to the post.
    -> Sushil

7.1 is still supported, however 8.X was never tested with MPE as it was already going to be replaced with MP.
Since the BU never tested it, it falls under not supported, MP8 is supported with CUCM 8.
But, since it uses a standard H323 trunk it should work fine.

  • Setup an Airport Express without an ISP's modem

First, I have to thank you to everyone who is taking the time to help me with this.
I am planning to buy an Airport Express but I have a question and it is a deal breaker for me. Is it possible to setup the AE without my ISP's modem? here is my actual situation to make me more clear:
I am from México city and here there is no Apple retail Stores so no Apple Geniuses and the premum resellers are just... well dumb. So I contract an Internet service with a company named TELMEX and these guys gave me a Huawei Modem, it connects with an RJ11 plug an works as a router and WIFI access point, but this modem is just garbage, so I bought a CISCO Router and put them in bridge, the Huawei on PPoE and the CISCO just made work as local router. Everything went OK until I bought an Apple TV and an iPhone 5, the Airplay features are useless with my actual setup (just an example) apparently the CISCO's firewall block the ports that Airplay uses besides the CISCO doesn't have a N standar for the WIFI, so I decide to buy a new router. Before to continue, here is more or less my actual setup
INTERNET----> HUAWEI(no DHCP, no WIFI, rang 192.168.1.x,PPOE)----> CISCO(DHCP, WIFI, range 10.0.0.x) -----> All my devices
So my plan is to adquiere a Router that brings WIFI class N, enhanced security features and it works as a modem, I've seen other CISCO that could make the work but I don't want more problems with the "Apple features" such as Airplay caused by the port blocking. I know the Airport Express is already prepared to work with all the "Apple features" also attaching my sound device would be awesome, but if it doesn't works as a Modem I won't buy it. Here is the setup I want.
INTERNET---->Airport Express -----> All my devices
Does anyone knows if it is possible?
Again, thanks for the ssistance and sorry if my english is misspelled or wrong sentenced, it is not my born lenguaje.
Best regards and happy New Year.

Well that is dissapointing to be honest, well, thanks for the help. By the way, for what you saying applies to the newest model... right? cause I already know the old one wasnt able to do what I want.

  • HT201335 Can i use airplay with the apple tv and airport express without an internet connection? Basically Set it up as a closed network?

I was told I could set a local network with the airport express, apple Tv, and my iPad to stream videos or pictures to a TV for a presentation.
No internet connection is available at the location.
Is that possible? Or do I need to access itunes homeshare with an internet connection to make this work?
I've set it up at home where I have an internet connection and it works fine but I want to move the setup to my church for a class. The data I'm using is stored on my ipad.
I know I can do this wired with the HDMI adapter but would like to do it wireless.
    Thanks for any help!

Ok so we now have a solution to the problem.   A friend of mine came round to work this out with me last night and we were able to get it working, but it is not as easy as I had hoped.  Fisrtly we plugged the airport express into my router using the ethernet cable  (for this I am using an Airport Express Base Station") and in airport utilities selected the airport express.  In edit, we then gave the airport express a new range of IP address which did not conflict with any of the other applications that I have already assigned.  We also named the Airport Express with a distinguishable name.  We then waited for the changes to be registered then unplugged the Airport Express from the router.  I then plugged my AppleTV via HDMI into a tv to test it and selected the new wifi network with the new Airport Express distinguishable name.  I was able to watch a video that I have on my ipad directly on my tv without being connected to the internet, and was able to play Airplay presentations.
No the easiest solution, and certainly not something that anyone at Apple has talked me through in my lengthy conversations with them at Applecare.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I install Logic Express without CD

Just got a new mac and it has no CD drive. So how do I go about installing Logic Express that I own? I only see updates listed in the downloads sections of apple pages.

Thank you, this is a good suggestion. But for some reason I coulnd't get it to work. I followed the steps as described but the drive never showed up under "devices" on the computer without the drive.
Anyway, I created a disc image of the installation disc and all ended well.
    Thx.
