AP Express won't receive IP address from internet provider

After about a month of perfect performance, my AP Express Base Station (v6.3) has suddenly become unable to receive the IP address automatically from my internet provider. I did a full factory-default reset on it with no success. I've been through the settings in the airport utility, and it is set to receive the IP address automatically from my provider through DHCP, so it SHOULD be okay... but it's not.
I plugged my old Linksys router in and it works fine, so it's not a problem with my provider. Also, on the line with tech support (with my internet provider) and we even tried to input the addresses manually, and it still wouldn't connect.
Any thoughts? My thoughts are that something is wrong with the Airport Express that needs to be repaired. It's odd that it suddenly stopped working and is resisting all methods of reworking / bipassing the settings.
~Rob

I am having the exact same issue. My AX is about 2 years old, and it has performed flawlessly for that time. And by that I mean it has run virtually without needing a restart, except for an occasional power cycle every few weeks on the cable modem.
Just about two weeks ago, the AX started having difficulty obtaining the IP address from my provider. On Ethernet, it can do it. AX cannot. I had my ISP reset the connection, test my connection, and they had me power cycle, check all my settings, etc. It seems there's no issue with the signal coming from the modem. It's Airport Express that can't get the IP and hangs forever with the orange blinking light. I can use Airtunes, however.
What should I do at this point? Do I need to take it in to Apple to get it looked at? Or am I screwed? I am pretty sure I am out of my 1-year warranty. Please advise!

  • Won't Pull Address from internet provider

Can someone help me.  My router will not pull an IP address from my Internet provider.  I have called them and they told me to contact Linksys.  I have cloned my mac address and it still won't pull one.  I pull an IP address just fine from my computers when they are plugged directly into the modem. I have tried to call the support line but have been hung up on twice and have now been on hold for 1/2 hour.  So that I don't get the simple answers I have done the following:
Unplugged the modem and the router.  Powered the modem back up then the router (nothing)
I have tried leaving the router on and power cycling the modem.  (nothing)
I have simply tried to go into the status menu on the router and do a release/renew (nothing)
    I cloned my Mac Address
I have tried to put in the IP information statically that my computer received via dhcp (nothing)
    Please help if you can.
    Thanks.

  • Two days ago I began having trouble receiving my emails from internet provider.

I can still get my emails in my windows laptop but not on my apple products.  We own two iphones and an ipad.  When I create an email in webmail, it will be pushed to apple products.  If I create an email on my laptop and send it to myself, I see it in webmail but it is not pushed to my apple products.  This goes to all outside emails.  My gmail account is working fine.  I can send emails out fine.  Of course my Internet provider is claiming it is not them.  I have to go to apple.  Here I am.  I tried to delete the latest emails thinking that there was a bad email.  No luck.  Any other ideas?  I reset my devices.
Another weird thing is that when people respond to my email, I receive those on my apple products.

Older Airport express won't see the signal from the cable modem.
My macbook sees the AP express and I can stream music to it but no internet. If I plug the ethernet cable directly into the macbook I can see the internet

Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • I have 3 email addresses with my ISP.  How do I set up my iPhone to receive emails addressed from any one of these addresses

I have 3 email addresses with my ISP.  How do I set up my iPhone to receive emails addressed from any one of these addresses

Even though they share the same incoming and outgoing server settings, each is a distinct account, so you just need to set up 3 accounts on your iPhone, one for each email address.
Or, since these are all from the same ISP, do they have online account management tools to let you forward two of those to the one account you want to be the "master" account?  You still may want separate accounts on your iPhone though, as an account can only have one address associated with it for the "reply" field when responding to emails.

  • IPad suddenly doesn't receive IP-address from DHCP-server

I have a wireless network running 802.11x consisting of an SMC-router/AP. The network has an additional access point - actually a homeplug device (Netgear) which however is connected to the router directly by wire (ethernet cable).
The problem is that my iPad 2 sometimes drops the assigned IP-address and won't receive a new one from the router.
This is how it looks seen from the router's admin interface:
When software-resetting the router, it delegates new IP-addresses to the various DHCP clients and also to the ipad. However, the ipad never receives these settings.
Strangely, when I renew the lease on my iPhone 4, that device does receive new settings from the router.
And even more strange: When I share the iPhone's network, the iPad will connect through that connection right away.
So far, the only way to solve this has been to remove power from the router and reboot it while keeping the iPad in the vicinity of the router's own AP instead of the other AP.
The problem isn't persistent but it reappears from time to time with no apparent reason.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong here?

    Crlarsen-
One thing you did not mention, was resetting the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

  • Windows (XP) not receiving IP address from LAN port on Airport Extreme

I have a DSL modem connected to the AEBS WAN port. Three computers (one Windows laptop, one emac, and one powerbook) can successfully connect to the internet wirelessly through the AEBS. The remaining desktop PC, running Windows XP, normally connects to the LAN port on the AEBS and there are no problems.
Suddenly, the desktop (always configured to get ip addresses automatically using DHCP) is not getting an IP address from the AEBS. I've confirmed this via IPconfig, and the address is 169..... The Windows error message is "limited or no connectivity."
When the desktop is connected directly to the DSL modem, however, it works just fine. Of course this isn't a satisfactory fix, as it means the DSL modem is no longer connected to the AEBS WAN port, and none of the wireless computers have internet access.
I've determined that the problem is not in the LAN port itself, as my powerbook successfully connects via ethernet through the AEBS LAN port.
I've also updated the AEBS firmware to 5.7.
Any suggestions on how to fix this. As I mentioned, the problem occurred overnight.

Try using System Restore to set the computer back to a time when it was working.

  • Contacts won't keep imported addresses from Outlook

When I import my contact addresses from Outlook into PE8 Contacts, they are all there for just that instance, then they all will disappear the next time I go to the contact page.  I can't find any option to fix that.  I have signed in and looked in my Adobe account and don't find anything there either.  What do you need to do/set/click on to permanently keep the addresses imported?  If I manually enter one, it stays.

Let's go step-by-step to see what the issue might be:
    1. In Outlook, select one contact.
    2. Right-click the contact and select Send Full Contact > In Internet Format (vCard).  This creates a draft email message with the selected contact as a vCard attachment.
After step 2, do you see the attachment in the draft message?  In Outlook 2007, it looks like:
It should look similar in Outlook 2003.   If you can't see where the attachment is, post a screenshot here (come to the Web to reply, not by email, and use the Attach Files command at the bottom of the message window).
    3. Click on that attachment and drag it to your Windows desktop.  On my Windows 7, it looks like:
If you other versions of Windows, it will look a little different.

  • My All-In-One 6500A Plus won't print any color from Internet Explorer (v8.0).

My All-In-One 6500A Plus won't print any color from IE (v8.0).  I can print all colors from Word, PDF documents, photos, etc. - but not from ANY web page.  At first it only printed Magenta ink, now it acts as if it's printing (feeds the paper, moves the print heads across the page and sounds like it's printing) but the paper comes out blank every time.  If I change the print options to print grayscale and only use black ink, I can get a black only image of the web site.
As I said, ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS PRINT FINE.  ONLY WEB PAGES WON'T PRINT, so please don't tell me it's the ink cartridges.  ;-)

  • Linksys WRT54GL won't get dhcp address from isp

    I'm using Linux.
I just bought this router because it had good reviews on Newegg but for the past 4 hours I have gotten nowhere with it.
When I connect the router to the net and click the refresh button on the browser interface, the router doesn't go out and get a dhcp address. I see the initial click of the mouse that hits the modem but no information comes back. No addresses are updated.
I have tried cloning the mac address but that does no good either.
    Any hints appreciated.
    Thanks

Try resetting the router for 30 secs in such a way that power light is blinking on the router. Also, try doing the complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router. Then, plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are solid on the modem you could plug in the power cable to the router & then try configuring the router & it will definately work!!!
