AP Extreme dosen't seem to share bandwidth

I have this problem at work and here at home... So I know it is my fault. I have AP Extremes at bot locations. This seem to work great when I am the only person on the AP, it also seems to work when other Apple laptops are on. The problem is when Windows laptops get on they seem to suck up all the AP bandwidth, and I am stuck with major safari time-outs. Do windows systems grab a signal and suck everything available in? Can I somehow spread the wealth for multiple systems? Most of these are assumptions on my part. What do you think?

Unfortunately none of Apple's base stations offer any control over how the bandwidth is distributed among clients nor any limitations.

I can only tell you that I had a couple of apps that worked perfect before but when ios 5.0.1, apple closed whatever way the apps used to print....Print Central was one....the developer. at least this one, said they could not do anything about it...they only recommended printing to PDF...
But I have a dedicated file server ( steream music and movies ) and I installed FINGERPRINT on my server and now I can print from my ipad, iphone to any printer on my server

Fiber can't seem to share.

I have an irratating issue at the moment. We currently have Fiber Optic and as I write this our speed is 24mbps download and 5mbsp upload. The router is connected to my dad's PC downstairs. Mine and my brother's computers are both upstairs, I am directly above the router and my brother is offset, further away.
The first time we had an issue was when either one of my brother and I would download from Steam, who ever was downloading would hog the bandwidth. We corrected this by using NetLimiter.
Now my brother has got NetFlicks which he streams via his PS3. On your netflick account you can set which quality you'd like to stream at (S,HD,Ultra HD) but via the PS3, you can't. So whenever my brother watches NetFlicks, I get completely cut off or my internet goes so slow I might as well not even bother. We both use wireless dongles 150mbps, yet somehow he gets priority over me and I get cut off. I tried logging into the BT Hub and setting my PC to get port forwarding but this made no difference.
Why is it that with our speeds, we can't seem to share it? With Fibre surely we should both be able to use the internet at once?

You could buy a router that supports IP QOS and use it either in addition to the Homehub or as a replacement, depending on the Homehub. You would then have to set it up correctly to do what you want. Depending on what you have now, and whether it's in addition or a replacement and how much your willing to pay, will determine which one to go for.

IPod dosen't seem to charge

My iPod Video 60GB dosen't seem to charge anymore, no water damage and I haven't dropped it. Hooking it up to my PC or to the wall charger does really nothing all I get is a message saying please wait very low battery, I let it charge for hours and thats all I get I can no longer use my iPod with or without power from the wall socket or off of the battery. What can possibly be wrong with it? it's one of the first video iPods released so I'm thinking it's a dead battery so i'll just replace the battery but I want to know for sure what's wrong with it before I go spending money on it.
Note - It has the latest firmware and was just restored, just dosen't charge and/or work.

So I took my iPod apart and disconnected the battery for about an hour, hooked it up to my pc and somehow it synced, so I downgraded the firmware to the tried and true iPod firmware 1.1.2, it's charging again so it seems and I am currently in the process of transfering my 25GB of music sofar so good. Will keep this topic updated on my progress.

Can I use the new Air port extreme to scan, print, and share a hard drive?

I currently have a canon 3and1 pixma MP750 printer, and a lacie brick 250gb usb external drive. I'm looking into buying a airport extreme "n" base station and a apple tv to share all my music on my home theater. I'm also planning on updating my current system to an Imac 17" intel duo 2.18g. My question is will I be able to use the scan function on my printer with the air port extreme, or is there away to connect multiple computers to 1 printer? (ie emac directly to printer and airport extreme directly to printer via some product I may not know of) And do you for see any problems sharing the HD drive between the emac, a new imac and a windows based pc with xp operating system if connected throught the airport via usb hub to acomidate the printer as well as the HD?

Unfortunately, no. The new AirPort Extreme Base Station, like all other AirPort Base Stations, do not support the scan or copy features of "all-in-one" printers attached to their USB ports. This is primarily due to the fact that these features require two-way communications which the USB port does not support.

Yes, if the printer is Ethernet-enabled, you can connect it to one of the AEBS's LAN ports...or use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge, like the Linksys WET54G to connect the printer wirelessly to the AEBS.

No, the new AEBS should support this.

Two Extremes, Three Expresses: Want Best Coverage & Bandwidth

My apologies in advance if this is a bit convoluted or poorly articulated, but here goes…
I have two AirPort Extreme Base Stations—a newer 802.11n (AEBSn) and an older A1034 saucer model (AEBSg)—as well as three AirPort Express (AX) units. Each of the AX units is of the older, 802.11g variety.
At the moment, I have the AEBSn connected directly to my Verizon FiOS router by way of an Ethernet cable, both in the basement. On my main floor, one floor up from the basement, I have my AEBSg wirelessly connected as a WDS relay. Doing this greatly improves the range of wireless coverage. Suffice to say, with this setup I'm afforded adequate coverage throughout the main floor, and even (to a lesser degree) a bit outside the house, which is nice during the warmer months.
Attached to the AEBSn is a four-port USB hub that allows me to connect a printer and an external hard drive. All my iTunes music is stored on said drive.
I have an Intel-based iMac that stays in the family room, and I have an older PowerBook G4 that goes anywhere around the house. Each of the AX units is located on the main floor, streaming AirTunes music to either the family room, the kitchen or the living room. Pretty cool!
Now my quandary…
Using the AEBSg as a WDS relay extends the range, but hampers the bandwidth. Checking my download speed using Speedtest.net, I find that I download on the main floor at anywhere between 4 Mbps and 6 Mbps when connecting to the WDS. If I wirelessly connect to the FiOS router, without using the WDS as a middleman, I download just over 18 Mbps.
I can't just stick with the faster FiOS wireless connection, because then I lose the ability to stream iTunes and such. What do I need to change (hardware, software, configurations, whatever) in order to get my speeds up to that 18-Mbps mark? Also, is the 18 Mbps acceptable. I would've expected it to be even higher than that with FiOS, but I'm not sure—maybe that's a typical rate.
Any help at all is much appreciated.

Most likely, I'll be getting an AXn to extend the AEBSn, per your suggestion. My understanding is that, if even one device on the network is operating at "g" rather than "n" speed, every device ends up operating "g" speed. My questions are (a) is my understanding correct, and if so, (b) could I somehow use my AEBSg to handle only "g" speed devices while having the AEBSn handle all the "n" speed devices? (My AEBSn is not the newer, dual-band version.)

Share bandwidth? Prioritize bandwidth usage?

Is there any way to assign certain parts of one's bandwidth to different users? Or can I prioritize myself compared to other users' bandwidth?
Every time my son goes online, he occupies 90% of my family's bandwidth. 20% would be appropriate. And I am tired of quarreling; I want a clean, technical solution.

Some routers allow you to shape the bandwidth based on port (service) or IP (computer), this is called QoS (Quality of Service).
I've used this feature on expensive routers/firewalls. The feature is showing up on more consumer routers.
Linksys Model #RT042 seems to have what you're looking for.
I've never used this router, so can't speak from personal experience- but i have used many of their other routers and they work well.
Download the specs and manual from the Linksys site to see if it would work for you.

RT Extreme, Does not seem to Extreme

Ok So after the rest of my problems seems to be fixed i sorta run into a small confusing problem.
Anyway, I was just confused about the RT Extreme, I am cutting a DV from a HD camera and have realized i have been rendering. It does not let me use the RT Extreme to playback Real-time effects in the best quililty. Any ideas?, should there be settings i might have wrong? will RT extreme work in DV?

DV from an HD camera...is this HDV material, or HDV downconverted to DV thru the camera and captured as DV? What are your project settings? Did you use the Easy Setups?
And 512MB RAM? That is not nearly enough for FCP. That might be a part of your issue right there. You need at least 1GB, and I suggest a minimum of 1.5 GB - 2 GB.

The master extreme does not seem to be able to accept wireless clients.

I have a roaming network setup with several extremes/express devices. The probem I am having is the master extreme which is in the garage does not want to accept new wireless clients. I have 3 other devices which work just fine. They hand off clients as you move around the house. You can see the wireless network on your device and when you select it you get a pop up window prompting you for the password??? You enter the passwork/key and nothing seems to happen.

Yes all of my base stations have the same network name, same password and same security setting. I have Comcast as my network provider. I have the latest airport extreme connected directly to the cable modem in the garage. I have 2 other base stations of the previous verison in house. One in my office and one in the living room. If I am moving around in the house I can use the airport utilitiy to look at those base stations and see which wireless clients they have. If I go out into the garage and try and connect to the wireless network the device appears to be trying (spinning dial icon) and then comes back with the pop up requesting a password. I have tried entering it and again it will appear to try and connect for a few seconds and then the pop up will appear again. I I walk into the house the device will connect with one of the other base stations.
Also all of the base stations are connected via ethernet cable to the main base station in the garage. They are connected directly with no switch or router between them.

Can't seem to share music in iTunes 6.0

When I was using 5.0 I was able to view other peoples' music. I'm currently using a LAN for school. and I am connected to the LAN through an airport express. originally I could share music whether I was hard wired to the wall or just through my airport express, now the only way I can view shared music is connecting directly to the wall... which might I add is a pain in the butt! any ideas as to why it suddenly doesn't work? the only thing I can think of is they updated it so I can no longer use that feature. in that case can someone please send me the installer for 5.0? because I really don't need video at this point.

Do you have more than one Apple ID on more than one geographic iTunes Store? If so make sure you're signed into the iTunes Store that the apps were purchased from.

Applet dosen't seem to work with IE

I designed a game on my webpage on a geocities site. I used Forte as my IDE, I written it with applet, I set up everything properly and when i run the applet from Forte it worked perfectly. When i go to my website it would have the main menus and all the buttons loaded properly. BUT when i press the buttons on the website NOTHING happens. It seem like all the actionlistener doesn't work anymore. This only happens with Internet Explorer but Netscape seems to work perfectly. I really want it to run on IE because all my friends have IE. Is this because IE doesnt fully suport java/applets or is there a way i can fix that or download something so it works.

AirPort Extreme looses about half of my bandwidth than when I'm connected directly to the modem.

ISP: Windstream 6mbps down
Modem: sagemcom f@st 1704
Router: AirPort Extreme 802.11ac
Connecting the AirPort to my modem in any capacity cuts my speeds by at LEAST half. Clocking speeds as low as .3 Mbps. Disconnecting the AirPort restores speeds to 5 - 6 Mbps. Any ideas?

The WAN port on the AIrPort Extreme is not negotiating correctly with the modem.
Unfortunately, there are no adjustments in the recent versions of AirPort Utility to manually change the WAN settings for best performance.
All that you can do is try another Ethernet cable, try resetting the AirPort Extreme, or try prayer or chants.
In some cases, a crossover type Ethernet cable may help if you have an old one laying around.
If nothing helps, try another AirPort Extreme since the Automatic WAN port negotiation is not working correctly on the AirPort that you have.

My partner updated his iphone 4 and now we both seem to share the same i cloud. We are sharing contacts which we done want to do. Help Please.

If he deletes a contact it deletes from my device too.

He needs to delete your iCloud account from his phone (settings > icloud > Delete account, turning Find my phone off first), then log into his own account.
