AP mounting options versus internal antennas

Hi All,
I have previously used the 1232s and 1242s with external antennas so I could wall mount them (ceiling mounted hardware is not always an option) and have the antennas oriented correctly. I'm now looking at the newer APs with 802.11n some of which have internal antennas and are more cost effective, e.g. the 1040. The 1040 has internal antennas but it is apparently wall mountable - from http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1260/quick/guide/ap1260getstart.html#wp42683
"Cisco Aironet 3500, 1260, 1140, 1130, and 1040 series access points can be mounted in several configurations, including on a suspended ceiling, on a hard ceiling or wall, on an elecrtical or network box, and above a suspended ceiling. Click this URL to browse to complete access point mounting instructions: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/mounting/guide/apmount.html "
How does wall mounting an AP with internal antennas affect the coverage? Surely the antennas will be oriented the wrong way to provide the correct coverage pattern. Or are the antennas able to provide the same coverage no matter what way up they are?
Many Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scott,
The 1040, like the 1140 can be mounted on the wall.  The horizontal and vertical footprint is almost similar.  Like a ball.  So it won't make any severe difference at all.

  • Best direction for internal antenna on 1602i

Can anyone suggest best direction for internal antenna on 1602i when placed on a wall, as i am aware that best location for these AP's is to be placed on ceilings with antenna direction at 90 for best results.
I have done this with the majority of AP's but some need to be mounted on walls, so looking for some info on antenna direction for best results in coverage.
    Thanks

    Hello, tavery.
Check table 5, 6, and 7 on this link for several antenna options for a 1600 AP. Will you be needing an Omnidirectional antenna for your application?

Let me know if you have additional concerns as well. Kind regards.

  • Possible to mount off the external antenna of the MSI AP11B?

Hi! I am thinking of buying the MSI AP11B Acces Point. But is it possible to mount of the external antenna, and mount another antenna to boost up the signal?
    Best Regards

First I want to tell that my english is very bad ..
The external antenna basicly is a RF cable and nothing more. Put one RF conector on this short cable (aprox 5-6 cm) and attache an external antena. You must change in web settings antenna type for external ....
Inside the AP you find a internal patch antena. In diversity mode the AP use both.

  • 1300 Series w/ Internal Antenna

We have installed several external antenna 1300's but this is the first with an internal antenna. Which direction is the wireless radiating? The mount that we have places the front (grey side) against a wall with the rear facing outward. Thanks.

    Hi Michael,
You probably want to reverse this mounting, the radiation patterns for the 1300 are shown (at the very end of this doc)
    From this Antenna reference guide;

  • QFS mount options not getting noticed.

Hi I have a small issue it seems that none of my QFS directives are getting noticed im not sure if this is true or not but this is what I have tried and i am unable to verify that these mount options are actually taking effect..
This is QFS Version 4 revision 4.0.26FA
in my /etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/samfs.cmd I have the following options
    fs = qfs1
    nosuid
    sync_meta = 0
    qwrite
    readahead = 4096
    writebehind = 1024
after mounting my file system why are these options not listed in mnttab
    qfs1 /qfs1 samfs dev=1d80036 1048280993
using dd/time to write data to this file system im getting the exact same performance no matter what options I set. another reason why I think these options are being ignored is the following
if I set for example fs = qfs1 and high = 70 low = 30 when I check samu [m] option I dont see those values reflected in the m output so what im asking is there anyway to verifty that my mount options are being set occordinly ?
Yes I did use mount -o nosuid,qwrite,etc.. /qfs1 still no difference and even placing the options in vfstab seems to not make any difference.
last but not lease if i do a samtrace -V while mounting my /qfs1 filesystem I see the following
00100000 readahead (1048576) <<--- still seems to use the default values 1024
00080000 writebehind (524288) <<-- 512 look @ my samfs.cmd file this should but not the value.
    Any assistance would be nice.

Hi There! Sorry, it took so long to get back to you. This should help:
The samu N display shows all the mount options. You can also use the samfsinfo command to see file system build information. If the samfs.cmd options are not being picked up, make sure the file is formatted correctly (no odd characters) and is in the proper location, /etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/samfs.cmd . Then "pkill -HUP sam-fsd" to assure the daemon has picked up the file's contents, and then mount the file system.

  • Move the data in  select options to internal table

I have  the code as in the fillowing
    SELECT-OPTION:S_MATNR FOR MARA-MATNR.
    DATA:BEGIN OF IT_MATNTR OCCURS 0,
    MATNR LIKE MARA-MATNR,
    END OF IT-MATNR.
NOW HOW CAN I ADD THE MATNER VALUES IN THE SELECT-OPTIONS IN  INTERNAL TABLE

    Hi Vamsikrishna,
Yes. You can move the values from S_MATNR to IT_MATNR.
    you can try either it_matnr[] = s_matnr[].
if not then you can loop in to the select-options as follows.
Define LS_MATNR as a structure type of s_matnr.
Define LS_IT_MATNR as a structure type of it_matnr.
    LOOP S_MATNR INTO LS_MATNR.
      MOVE LS_MATNR to LS_IT_MATNR.
      APPEND LS_IT_MATNR to IT_MATNR.
      CLEAR: LS_MATNR, LS_IT_MATNR.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Broken internal antenna!

Hi all! First time I post here :P
It's like this. I broke my internal antenna on my PowerBook G4 12" when I was going to check which airport card I had. I'm kind of.. violence of myself but anyway. I was going to check which card I had and the antenna.. Popped of the card. Or atleast I think it is the antenna.
Well, it broke and now I CAN still found the card, but no connections (:P). Am I able to reconnect the cable in some way? Because there is some metallic thing sticking out from the card and the cable is.. Loose, and it's now harder to shut that little door to the card. Well.. I think that's all I can say for now.
Here's two pic's of the thing ^_^ (Photo's taken with my mobile)
Thanks for now! I hope you are able to help me!
I can take pic's with my real digital camera if anyone wants better quality.
    PowerBook G4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to the discussions
You have one of 2 choices you can either take it to an Apple store or contact Applecare, if you have it.
Or if you want to attempt it, look at the link and you will see you can unplug the connecter to the card and twist the cable and insert it and either crimp it or solder it and then re attach it.

Would someone please help to identify what is wrong ?

    Thanks for your reply.
OS is Solaris on x86-64. and we use NetApps and NFS.
I followed the instruction specified in Oracle Support DocID 781349.1 and as it turned out the order is significant.
The document specifies these mount options using this order.
    rw,bg,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,hard,vers=3,nointr,timeo=600,proto=tcp,suid 0 0
    ** This fixed the problem
FYI, we had these options (and order):
    rw,bg,hard,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,vers=3,nointr,timeo=600,proto=tcp,suid

  • An AP500 with internal antennas?

Is there any chance that an AP500 might be developed with internal antennas?
I have at least one deployment where the AP541N might have been seriously considered, except for its external antennas, which for that site are too vulnerable... of being moved, tampered, etc.
So in that case the AP1142 with its internal antennas and smaller footprint, is a better fit.  But the 1142 is a lot more expensive, doesn't do clustering, etc.
If a new model of AP500 were developed to fit into the casing of an AP1140 that would be, for some customers, quite an enticing product!
But I'm not holding my breath... it seems Cisco made a decision to use only external antennas with these.
    -Rich

    Rich,
Thank you for your feedback, its great to hear from end-users about how we can make our product lines fit your needs better. These boards are HIGHLY visible to Cisco. Therefore, I'm sure your concerns will be heard and addressed accordingly.

  • Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 - Extra mount options for /OVS

    Hi,
we would like to know how to add extra mount options (rw,hard,intr,tcp,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,timeo=600) to /OVS in Oracle VM 2.2.1.
In version 2.1.5 and lower it was possible by adding those options together with the UUID in /etc/ovs/repositories.options
How to manage mount options in Oracle VM 2.2.1? I've tried the same and no success.
Best regards and thanks in advance,
    Marc Caubet

Since we have seen some I/O problems which causes high CPU Wait for some VM (those which contain postgres databases with high I/O activity) we finally decided to apply those NFS options to see if it solves the problem. If it doesn't work we will analize which options can improve the performance.Marc, why not just use the OVS' NFS mount for the system/root partition and mount an NFS volume from within the guest itself? That way, you can set all the parameters you need. Also, the netfront drivers (I'm told) are slightly more efficient that the blockfront drivers, so you could even see a performance improvement.

  • USB mount options in kde

Is it possible to use custom mount options for removable (usb) drives in kde4?
I'm mostly interested in -o flush option. So the actual write on the disk ocurs when copying, but not when I unmout the device.
P.S. editing fstab is not a solution! May be there is a way to amoid hal and automount using udev?

  • Mount options for ZFS filesystem on Solaris 10

    Do you know some recomendation
about mount options for SAP on Oracle
    with data on ZFS filesystem?
    Also recomended block size required.
We assume that file system with datafiles has 8kb block size
and offline redologs has default (128kB).
    But what about ONLINE REDOLOGS?
    Best regards
    Andy

SUN Czech installed new production HW for one Czech customer with ZFS filesystem on data-, redo- and archivelog files.
Now we have performance problem and currently there is no SAP recomendation
    for ZFS file system.
The HW which are by benchmark about tvice power has worst responses than
    old hardware.
    a) There is bug in Solaris 10 - ZFS buffers once allocated are not released
(generally we do not want to use buffering due to prevence of double
         buffering)
    b) ZFS buffers takes about 20GB (32GB total) of memory on DB server
and we are not able to define huge shared pool and db cache. (it may be possible
to set special parameter in /etc/system to reduce maximum size of ZFS buffers to e.g. 4GB )
    c) We are looking for proven mount option for ZFS to enable asynchronious/concurent io for database filesystems
    d) There is no proven clear answer for support of ZFS/SOLARIS/Oracle/SAP.
SAP says It is Oracle problem, Oracle does not certify filesystems from Jan2007
any more and says ask your OS provider and SUN looks happy, but performance
goes down and it is not so funny for system with 1TG DB with over 30GB grow
    per month.

  • Passing SELECT-OPTIONS and Internal Tables to SUBROUTINES

    Hi Guys
In the code below my colleague has created her own table types in order to pass a select option and internal tables to her subroutine. Is there an easier way of making them known to the subroutine.
    data : v_vbeln type vbeln_vf,
          it_bdoc type table of vbrp,
          it_t006 type table of t006a,
          wa_bdoc type vbrp,
          wa_t006 type t006a,
          it_bdoc2 type table of zsswathi_st_vbeln,
          wa_bdoc2 type zsswathi_st_vbeln
    select-options s_vbeln for v_vbeln matchcode object zswathi_vbeln obligatory.
    start-of-selection.
    perform bdoc using s_vbeln[]
                 changing it_bdoc
                          it_bdoc2
                          it_t006.
      loop at it_bdoc2 into wa_bdoc2.
form bdoc using f_s_vbeln type ZSWATHI_ST_SELECT_OPTION_TA_TY       " all these are table types. for select options, a structure is created and then a table type for it is created.
            changing f_it_bdoc type zswathi_vbrp_ty_ta
                     f_it_bdoc2 type zswathi_vbeln_ty_ta
                      f_it_t006 type ZSWATHI_T006_TA_TY.
select * from vbrp into table f_it_bdoc where vbeln in f_s_vbeln.
          if f_it_bdoc is not initial.
select  vbeln sum( netwr ) prsdt from vbrp into table f_it_bdoc2 where vbeln in f_s_vbeln group by vbeln prsdt.
          sort f_it_bdoc2 by vbeln.
"select * from t006a into table it_t006 for all entries in it_bdoc where msehi = it_bdoc-vrkme.
select * from t006a into table f_it_t006 for all entries in f_it_bdoc where msehi = f_it_bdoc-vrkme.
       endif.
        endform.

    Hi Brett,
    1. you can use a select-options-range in a FORM subroutine also without passing it as a parameter because parameters and select-option range tables are global fields in their program.
    2. If you need a parameter, declare it as type table or type standard table or type any table. You do not need any special table type.
    Regards
    Clemens

  • EQ Templates & Supplier Initiated eQs:  Optional versus Required

We are on v6.1.1.1 and have setup our Material Spec eQ with Spec Name and Ingredient Statement as required.  There is no selection for shelf life to be required or optional so that it is not rendered on the eQ.  The white paper on Supplier Initiated eQs states that all data, by default confiugration, is set to optional when the supplier initiates the eQ.  Supplier are currently getting unhandled exception error messages when the supplier submits a change on Supplier Portal.  The eQ is never rendered or emails send with the unique link.  We are wondering if the eQ template needs to have all fields selected as optional in order to render in supplier portal properly.  The documention on Admin, eQ User Guide, and Supplier Portal are all silent on this question.  Only the white paper, written before v6.1, mentions anything about optional versus required.  The specific questions are:
    1.  Does the eQ template require that all fields be selected as optional in order to work properly for Supplier Iniated eQs?
    2.  Does the supplier create tag that allows row selection in custom sections (we have added these to all of our custom sections and they are in our template) have any impact to the Supplier experience with Supplier Initiated eQs?
    Thank you for your time.
    Best, BeckieC

This sounds like a bug, suppliers should be able to initiate eQs regardless of what options are selected on the template.   Go ahead and submit an SR so support can investigate.
    To answer your other questions:
    1.  Does the eQ template require that all fields be selected as optional in order to work properly for Supplier Iniated eQs?
No, if the data is on the spec it will be included in the questionnaire.  Whether spec data is marked as optional or required for the supplier is decided by this config: <add key="EQ.SupplierInitiatedQuestionaire.EQItem.RequireSpecContents.Enabled" value="false"/>   Data that isn't controlled by the spec, like whether a supplier can create a breakdown, is controlled by the eQ template.
You can also add additional attributes to the template and they should be included in the questionnaire.  For example, lets say the spec has custom A, B, and C and the eQ template has custom section D.   A, B, C and D should appear on the questionnaire they initiate.  Another use case could be an allergen.   Lets say your specs has 12 allergens declared but allergen A is now required to be declared.  You would add allergen A to your template and it should be included with the specification data for the supplier to respond to.  Page 6 of the white paper discusses each field and where the data comes from.
    2.  Does the supplier create tag that allows row selection in custom sections (we have added these to all of our custom sections and they are in our template) have any impact to the Supplier experience with Supplier Initiated eQs?
It shouldn't have a negative impact.   If the section that they have create ability for is on the spec or template it should be included in the initiated questionnaire and the supplier be able to add custom section structure.
