AP periodically dropping his connection to WLC

Hello ,
I have problem with AP 1262 witch periodically lose his connection to the controller.
I have this situatuion. One WLC 5508 and two 1242 dual band controller based APs.One AP 1242 is connected to the controller through fiber link. The other AP1242 is connected to WLC through first AP on 5GHz Wireless Backhaul.First one is RootAP and second one is MeshAP.WIreless link between two APs have SNR=40dB and distance is no more than 30 metres(100 feet).Antennas used in this case is directioanl 5GHz "AIR-ANT5160NP-R" with gain 6dBi.
MeshAP have an IP and have alreaday downloaded IOS image and configuration from WLC. MeshAP is working fine when he si connected with WLC , and client can gain access two WLAN.
However the MeshAP is periodically dropping his connection to WLC.(once every 4-5 hours).
This is part of the log generated by the WLC before loosing connection with MeshAP:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Why are you using 802.11a as a backhaul?  802.11a may have the speed but the range of the 802.11a is not good.  Now you said that you are using the 5060NP-R antenna on the 1260 side, now what antenna is being used by the RootAP?

  • Periodic drop of connection to GoDaddy-hosted sites

For the past month or so, I occasionally lose access to  any of my sites hosted at GoDaddy. I can connect to any other site, can ping other sites, etc. I can get to the server via IP, but not URL. And then, just as suddenly, I can pull up the site again. It seems to be happening with increasing frequency (four times today, happening right now). I've switched DNS servers from the Verizon ones to DynDNS to Google's, and no luck (and like I said, I can still go to other sites on the Internet.) When I check with http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ the server is still up and going (testing with the URL, not the IP address). Anyone else experiencing anything similar with GoDaddy? Or have any ideas. I've tried rebooting the router when it happens, but that doesn't resolve it.
    Halllp

#1 Did you trace route to the GoDaddy-hosted site(s)?
#2 If not, please do and show us the results.
This means for example if on Windows XP,
    a) Go to Start -> Run.
    b) Type in cmd and press enter.
    c) In the new window type in tracert google.com and press enter.

  • Linksys ea3500 dropping wireless connection

    Hello,
I have a very frustrating problem.  I am using a brand new Linksys EA3500.  We have 2 laptops connecting to it.  One is an older XP machine which never has any problem.  The other, a Vista machine, periodically drops the connection to the internet when connecting wirelessly.  It never loses the connection to the Linksys EA3500 router, it just says "Access: local" and there is no internet.  If I plug the Vista machine in wired to the router it works fine.  I've tried my old router and I don't get this problem, which leads me to believe that my wireless adapter is functioning properly on the Vista machine.
When the vista machine drops the internet, I can still get into the router configuration at 192.168.1.1, but when I click on the tab which says wireless it sometimes says:  "Router not found.  You are not connected to your router."  It says this despite the fact that I am connected to the router???
I've tried reinstalling Windows, that didn't make any difference.  I am convinced that it is a problem with the router, but I can't find any settings to adjust which remedy the situation.  Of coarse, I've tried reseting my modem and Router many times...doesn't resolve the issue.  I've also gone into DOS and done an ipconfig release_all and renew_all.
I work in IT and I understand the basics of TCP/IP and DHCP.  When I connect wired with the vista laptop my ip is 192.168.1.112, when wireless it is 192.168.1.142.  Please advise.
    Thank you

Are you using the classic firmware or the linksys smartwifi? If the other laptop is working fine, I would say that the router is working fine. But to make sure that everything all things are covered, try to change the wireless settings of the router as well as update the adapter on the laptop that’s experiencing the problem. For the wireless settings of the router, you may try: channel width: 20MHz only; channel: 1, 3, 6, or 9; security: wpa2 personal.

  • Since Updating to 10.9.5 Safari and the App Store drop internet connection periodically while other apps Mailplane and Epic Browser continue to work ?

    Hello.
Since Updating to 10.9.5 Safari and the App Store drop internet connection periodically while other apps Mailplane and Epic Browser continue to work ?
Never had this problem previously running a Macmini Server 2010 with the latest Mavericks Updates
Tried reinstalling over my existing OS and seemed ok until I once again updated to the latest security and Safari updates
    Any ideas ?
Using ethernet but wireless acts same,
    Cliff

I also forgot to note that this problem also persists with the new iBooks application. I cannot get past the 'Get Started' screen or access the iBooks Store. Again, all top bar menus are unresponsive.

  • Intermittent Wireless Connection, Dropping Wireless Connection

I am asking this in hopes of finding at least some way to diagnose my problem and hopefully eventually solving it. My wireless connection currently drops at varying amounts of time. Sometimes I can go 20mins others merely 5mins. The Airport reads that I am still connected and have a strong connection but when I try to navigate to a page with the browser (either firefox or safari) it merely times out after trying to load the page for up to a few minutes. I have changed the channel and frequency of my router (first router I tried was a Trendnet TEW-432BRP) and I have no cordless phones or other possible wireless obstructions. (I do have a very very infrequently used microwave but being that it's on the other side of the house and I can be sitting next to the router I doubt this is the culprit)
Then I tried changing routers to a Belkin N1 Vision router. Same issues. Additionaly worth noting all other PC's and linux machines on my network (about 4-5 other computers) all work just fine with out dropping their connections (with both routers).
Then I brought my original machine (a white macbook less than a year old) into the apple store, thinking at this point it was a hardware problem with my machine. They the replaced the airport card twice and the logicboard once. Eventually decideing that they should just replace the whole machine. Now with my new unibody I thought I had finally illeviated the problem but now I am having the same issues with an intermittent connection again.
If I turn off the Airport card and turn it back on again usually it will reconnect and allow me to browse again. But not always. The odd part is that generally when using another program that accesses the net the connection does not seem to be interrupted (such as with bit torrent). Very odd.
Anyway I tried using my computer at a friends house with the same trendnet router (his router but same model) and still the connection issues persist. Any ideas on what I can do or try to at least even begin to understand why this is happening would be helpful. I want very much to get to the bottom of this. Thanks for your help.

You didn't get the Apple Store to replace a white MacBook with a unibody?!
Anyhow - the connection problems could easily relate to an incompatibility between OS X and the router in question. Or it could simply be a setting on the router that isn't working well. To assist in the diagnosis... can you please supply:
    1) The security mode of the router? (WEP or WPA/WPA2 and AES or TKIP).
    2) The network mode (G/N)?
    3) The signal strength as reported by Airport (RSSI)
You can get most of this information (all except the security mode) by holding the option key down whilst clicking on the Airport icon in Finder. For the security setting you can go to your routers configuration screen (or you can get it from the command line).
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Mac Mini drops internet connection (ethernet)

    Hi
I have a brand new mac mini w/ mac Os 10.5.2. I connect to the internet via ethernet: it works fine for some time (30 mins, 2 hours) then, apparently for no special reason, it drops the connection and I need to reboot to restore it. It is connected to a switch hub with other devices (macBook, AppleTv) that continue to work fine, so it is not an ISP issue. After rebooting the problem occurs with higher frequency, i.e. connection lasts for shorter and shorter periods then reboot is needed every other 5 mins.
I have no clue whether it is a hardware or software problem -- please help.
    Thank you

    Hi Keith
Thank you for your message - I figure it should be something like what you are saying. I am still kind of puzzled to why it connects OK with iBook, even when it is connected alone and/or together with AppleTV and/or macMini.
I have another macMini (PowerPC) at the office connected to same hub type (same ISP, same hardware) and I never experienced a problem like that although we are using it with other iMac's on the same network.
I will give it a try and get a router to see if your suggestion is right.
    Thank you again,
    macko d.

  • AEBS Dropping Internet Connection q 45 minutes

I have the new airport extreme base station. I bought it January and it has worked flawlessly for the past 6 months. recently, in the past week or so, I began getting a dropped internet connection happening every 45 minutes or so.
    About my set up:
Cable modem supplying connection to AEBS via ethernet. VOIP box connected to AEBS via ethernet getting internet connection from AEBS. Playstation 3 connected via ethernet to AEBS. Airport Express base station linked to airport extreme base station wirelessly (of course) to share printer connection via USB. iBook G4 1.2ghz running Mac OSX 10.4.9
    Trouble Shooting.
Originally I would unplug the cable modem for 30 seconds and plug it back in. This would reset the connection and i would have service again for 45 minutes. I decided to test whether or not it was the router or modem that was kicking me so I unplugged the ethernet cable coming from the modem to the AEBS and plugged it directly into my computer and turned off my airport connection, essentially hardwiring the ibook directly to the modem. I got kicked off again. At this point i drew the conclusion that it was the modem and contacted my cable company. After a bunch phone conversations that essentially accomplished nothing, they sent a tech out to my house. He replaced my old (3 years) cable with a brand new one to test out. I left my computer wired directly via ethernet to the new modem and this time DID NOT receive any drops in connection over a period of 4 hours. I reconnected the ethernet cable from the modem to the AEBS and reset my connection and decided to test out wireless. It dropped me again in 45 minutes. I left the cable modem connected to the AEBS via ethernet and unplugged the ethernet cable coming out of the AEBS that gos to my VOIP box and plugged my computer into the AEBS via ethernet and disconnected from airport on my computer. I was again dropped in 45 minutes. I reset my modem and unplugged the ethernet cable coming out of AEBS that gos to my Playstation 3. Again I was dropped within 45 minutes. After that, I reconnected both the PS3 and VOIP box ethernet cables and unplugged my computers ethernet cable from the AEBS and have just been using the wireless connection and resetting the modem every 45 minutes when it drops. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention that I plugged the Playstation 3 directly into the cable modem via ethernet and played online for 4 hours without interruption/disconnect. Anyways, I am back to square one. I believe based on the evidence above that the problem lies within the Airport Extreme base station router some how, but I have no idea what the problem is.
What happens when my connection is dropped:
I can be doing anything from using an instant messaging service to trying to load a web page using firefox or safari. Basically the page fails to load, i get a message saying it can't find the server. Usually at this point I will open up network utility and try to ping yahoo.com. It doesn't ping and says it can't find the server. I go to the modem and unplug the power for 30 seconds and replug it back in. As soon as everything back up I have my connection back.
    What the cable company did:
They looked at their connections, including the fiber optic node for the area. They did not find any outages or problems within their system. They plugged my coxial cable into a modem/tester box (not sure exactly what it was) to evaluate signal received via coxial cable which they said was working properly. they checked my cable connection from house to street and didn't find any compromises in the wire/cable.
I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware for my AEBS. I am out of ideas. Can anyone help?
    ibook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I had the same problem earlier this year with my cable carrier. At first I thought it was the modem so I replaced the Dlink with an Apple Extreme and it still kept happening. After some research on MacInTouch I found that using an earlier version of the base station software made the problem go away. So I never updated and all was well with the world. Till last week and now like you I am dropping connections every hour or so no matter what application I am running or what site I am on the internet.
A friendly tech admitted to me that there was a problem with the way the modem communicates with the provider and that they were aware of the problem but that there was nothing he could do to help me.
That is when I cured the problem temporarily by using the base station software from 2004. If I find an answer to the return of the problem I will post it. Please let me know if you find a solution.

  • Airport keeps dropping xbox connection!

HI all, My son has an xbox 360 hooked up wireless to my airport extreme. We have security set to wpa/wpa2 personal. He gets in a xbox live no problem, then after a few minutes or so the xbox drops the connection. We also have other Mac's, a Wii, and a Playstation3 all hooked up with no problem. The funny thing is this just started about 2 weeks ago. We have done everything to try and resolve it including replacing his xbox with a new one under warranty. We even tried a direct wired hook up to the airport with no success. Does anyone have any idea's? I'm about to pull my hair out!

I did wire the xbox directly up to the modem, and that works, unfortunately I can't leave it like that because there is only one port on the modem. This proves that the issue is with airport and nothing else.

  • BT HomeHub 3 keeps dropping Broadband connection a...

For the last three years I've been having issues with BT HomeHubs dropping broadband connection and we still haven't been able to find a permanent fix. When it first started it only happened maybe once ever to months so it was never too much of an issue. As time progressed these broadband drops started to become more frequent, there was never a pattern, but you could be using the Internet for hours with out any issue then suddenly it would start to lose and gain connection every few minutes for 30 minutes to an hour. This became ridiculous in the end so we proceed to get an engineer in to check everything out. At the time I was using a HomeHub 2 and it was decided by the engineer that it was an issue with the modem so they were all replaced. This solution fixed the connection issues for a few months, but then they started again. So after another year had gone by, with the issues just as bad as before we got another Engineer in. This was about a year ago from the time this post is being written. Apparently even though we had been paying for Unlimited Broadband since the first engineers visit there was something at the exchange that was capping the amount of usage and this was causing the sporadic broadband drops. We later heard that the problem at the exchange had been fixed and at the same time we upgraded to a BT HomeHub 3 as if I recall it would also help,as well as making the engineers visit free of charge. So a year later and I still have problems with losing my broadband connection. I must say it's not as bad as before, but it can get very irritating when the drops follow each other in quick succession. It really would be nice to find a fix for this once and for all. Every time we get in contact with BT we always get asked the same questions over and over until eventually we have to get an engineer out so I thought enquiring on the forums might be a better idea. I'm sure I can't be the only one with these issues that's for sure.
Just to be clear I have gone through everything on the Broadband connection list multiple times.
    1. I've turned my hub of and all devices of periods of more than an hour with no success.
    2. Just checked again and there is no problem with the Broadband or any other BT services in my area.
    3. No issues with my phone line.
    4. All the power cables are plugged in properly, but as I never have issues with the power dropping or the hub restarting I'm not sure how much this would matter.
    5. The wireless has never dropped and even using an ethernet cable the problem still persists.
    6. Connection trouble shouting find no issues and just tells be to get in contact with BT.
    7. My Hub is usually connection to the Test socket as it's the one located in the room where we have our PC. I've tried using the main one and the problem still persists.
    8. Well I hope someone here has the answer to my problems.

  • Clients seem to drop their connectivity intermittently

    Hi,
We've been  having an intermittent issue where clients seem to drop their connectivity intermittently. We have an SSID configured with 802.1x and user-machine authentication using MS-PEAP.  ISE is currently used as the radius server,
    Synopsis:
When the client drops out, it is associated to the AP at good signal strength -64dBm. All our clients are running Win7. Once the issue occurs a yellow exclamation mark appear across the system tray wireless icon and a message appears in the "Network and Sharing Center" that either says “no internet connection” AP status on the controller is associated  The client can ping its default gateway, but no connectivity above layer 3 appear to be working.  This behavior is extremely intermittent. The only way to restore full connectivity to the client is to hard reset the wireless adapter or switch to another SSID and go back to the problematic SSID.
Today , I've worked with the same Cisco TAC engineer for almost three hours  trying to  diagnose and analyze this issue.  We've tried to diagnose several clients that were having  this issue by running debugs  on the controllers. The wireless controllers were showing the clients were still associated, yet the clients couldn't communicate with network. I ran a link-test from the controller to the affected clients and all came back with failed status.
    Any idea

a link test could fail depending on the adapter and CCX. If the client can ping it's default gateway, then the issue is probably, more than likely, not the wireless. Pinging the GW proves the client is passing traffic out of the WLC and upstream. If they are not able to reach any resources you might want to look and check your CAM and arp table entries, it is entirely possible that a MAC is being spoofed, or an IP address is being stolen somewhere.

  • Macbook dropping internet connection- have diagnostic info (sort of) now...if it helps

I posted a few weeks ago about my Macbook constantly dropping & reconnecting to my wireless network at home, while other computers/ipad are still connected just fine and also that I took it to the genius bar where he could find no issue with it (I don't have problems at public connections such as library or Panera either). My next step will be calling & paying for phone service I guess since it seems to be limited to my connection to my home network (cable modem w/ a mac airport wireless modem/router)...
Today I finally ran diagnostic on it when it was working & then each time I lost it I would try to run it & see what it says.
Let me know if this gives any insight??? (the password is NOT wrong, I have it saved in there & when there is a connection it goes through fine & says the internet appears to be working correctly, I only get this message when my connection is dropped).
"This computer was unable to join the Airport Network you selected. You may have entered an incorrect password or network name, chosen the wrong type of wireless security or you may be out of range of the base station. To change your previous choices click Go Back."
Then, a popup will come up over it that says "Network change detected. Your network configuration has changed. Click OK to proceed to the next step."  If I click ok, sometimes I will just continue to get that popup until the connection comes back & then I get a "your internet appears to be working correctly" message.
I have double checked that my ipad is working on my home wireless network during these times and I have been talking on our phone which is through the same line while this is happening. (My daughter was watching a movie streaming through netflix on my ipad that didn't skip a beat while my macbook connection kept coming & going).
Also, the little green dots next to each 'step' on the left in the diagnostics will change during this- sometimes they are all green, but periodically Server, Internet & ISP will turn red, although Airport, Airport Settings & Network Settings always stay green (as a side note, the little bars on the top of my screen indicated the connection to the wireless are almost always completely solid every time this happens).  Again, since other devices are working on the same wireless network, I cannot see how this is my server/provider, I feel like it is some sort of issue b/w my Mac & the Airport modem/router.
    Thanks...

I have been having the same issue for some time now.  I have tried the same things as Lisa.  Strange thing though, the closer I move to my Airport, the least likely it is to drop the connection.   Can some confirm if this is a bug in the Airport or is it my Macbook pro ?

  • My i Phone drops WiFi connection after just a few minutes and wont reconnect unless I reset the network settings and reboot the  phone?

My i Phone 4s has suddenly started to drop wifi connection after nealy months of near perfect connections?
To restore a wifi connection I have to reset the network settings and restart the phone, this only fixes the issues for around 2-3 mins?
Other quick fixes like switching wifi on and off/ switching to airoplane mode for a few secconds have no impact.
This is really annoying as I am using my data allowence very quickly, and as the phone is continually searching for a wifi connection the battery time has reduced dramatically.
I just wondered if any one else has the same issue, and any suggestions as to how I can fix this.
    Thanks in Advance

    Reboot.
    Restore (from backup)
    Restore (as new)
Test after each step. If one of them doesn't fix the problem, make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • MacBook Air + Time Capsule  frequently dropping internet connection

I too have been having frequently dropped wireless connections between my MacBook Air (MBA) and my Time Capsule(TC). My TC is connected to a cable modem and I also have an Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) at a different part of my house which is used to extend my network connecting via ethernet to a PC running VISTA, and wirelessly to a printer and an older MacBook. I also connect wirelessly to my home network with two iPhones, a Squeezebox 3 with a server running on the PC. I have an Apple TV and a Squeezebox 2 connected to my TC via ethernet.
When my connection drops I will either see a Time Capsule disconnect message or if I am surfing the web, the browser just hangs. The wireless ICON strength is still pegged a the max level. None of my other devices (wireless or ethernet) connected to the TC or the other AEBS seem to drop their internet connections. I can re-establish the connection on my MBA by either turning off my MBA's Airport wireless and then turning it back on or by running the network diagnostics. The latter method usually shows green lights for all but the "Internet" and the "Server" which will have yellow lights. Usually when I select my wireless network and press continue, it will prompt for my WPA2 password which I have to reenter even though I always check the box for it to remember the password in the keychain.
After reading the various discussions on disconnect problems and trying the various "solutions" I was still having the disconnect problem.
Last night, I decided to turn off my Time Capsule and was then able to maintain an internet connection for considerably longer than before. Perhaps it was one of the other "solutions" that caused that. After turning my TC back on, the disconnect problem reoccurred within about 5 minutes.
Next, I did my too frequent Time Capsule remedy which was to disconnect the power and then reconnect the power. (Seems like some of these devices (APPLE TV included) could use power switches.) I then deleted the .sparsebundle backup file on the Time Capsule. I was then able to restart Time Capsule backup and things have been running uninterrupted for over 12 hours...still backing up (20GB in 12 hours? Doesn't seem very fast!). I can report back later if this actually "fixes" my disconnect problems in the future. I am dubious that it will.
I have several questions about the MBA and the TC/Time Machine backup operation.
1.) I often forget about the TC when I close the lid on my MBA and haul it off to work. At work (connecting via ethernet), I will eventually get a TC disconnect error. But I am wondering if there are points in the backup process where a random disconnect will cause some sort of TC corruption. What is the recommended way of handling this? Should I always stop the Time Machine backup before turning off my MBA? (A nuisance if so!)
2.) What is happening when the TC backup operation stops functioning and hangs up the MBA's internet connection? (I see lots of messages logged in the system log when this happens; but, of course, I don't have much of a clue of which ones are normal and which are not normal. I could send a copy of the logs when it happens next (I am assuming it will).
Also one other anecdote. A few months back, I had taken another AEBS to my work to use during a training conference. My MBA kept dropping its connection while the other PC laptops in the room maintained their connections...(very embarrassing!). Maybe one of the other "solutions" would have fixed the problem or maybe if I had just turned off my Time Machine backup it would not have disconnected. I will repeat that exercise when I get a chance now that I have some things to try.
It seems pretty clear to me from my own experiences and the discussion reports of others that the disconnect problem lies in the MBA's wireless internet connection software or the configuration of it. It seems like it is having difficulty recovering from various wireless connection "mishaps".

Folks, I was having a very similar problem for the last 6 months. My connection was fine until June 2008, after which my Macbook and my Time Capsule would constantly conflict. If I rebooted or reset the TC, or the MB, things would be fine for a few minutes or sometimes a few hours and the problem would recur soon thereafter. About a month ago, I had to do a clean reinstall and the problem vanished for about 5 days, after which it reappeared. My MB never had a problem at work, or at someone else's home or with other routers, only with TC. Apple sent me a new TC, then they replaced my Airport card but the situation did not change ... UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR AGO.
An hour ago, I called Apple for the nth time in the last 6 months, and the rep heard me out (just like the previous n-1 reps). He then asked me to to System Preferences --> Accounts --> Login Items and asked if Real Player Downloader showed up in my list. Indeed it did. He asked me to remove it, and told me that Apple had just figured out that the Real Player downloader was recently found to be causing a drop in the connection between Macbooks and the TC (as well Airport Express).
The problem I've been having baffled everyone. All the previous reps, the guys at the Genius Bars, nobody had a clue. Joe (the rep I spoke with this morning) seemed very confident that the removal of the Real Player Downloader from the list of login items would resolve the problem. So far, so good. My connection seems solid (its only been an hour, but earlier it would drop after 5 minutes of use).
I hope my problem that (literally!) used up hundreds of hours of my time has been finally resolved. I hope this solution will work for at least some of you as well. What gives me hope is that this solution is logically consistent with the history of my problems. I probably first downloaded Real Player in June 2008. And when I did a clean install, I remember downloading Real Player a few days after the reinstall. So I'm pretty hopeful that my issue has been finally resolved.
Shame on Real Player for putting out a defective piece of software. And thank you Joe!

  • Loop drops when connected wireless (NI 9191)

    Hi,
I cannot figure out why a NI cDAQ 9191 chassis has connection drops when connected wireless and works
    perfectly when connected thru LAN.
I wrote a little test VI to check the connection accuracy. The chassis has a NI 9375 I/O module plugged in.
A Moxa AWK3121 is used as wireles access point. What I do is check 5 digital inputs and control 3 digital outputs.
The outputs are continuously placed on/off at a different rate. I use an event loop and a main loopt that communicates
to the chassis at a loop rate of 10ms.
The chassis, laptop and Moxa A.P. are all close together on my desk. The Wifi signal is excellent.
Now, the code i written is probably not optimal.
But...  If I start with connecting the chassis with a LAN cable to my laptop, Wifi Disabled, Linked Local. The communication is perfect.
No drops between the loops and the real time.
No communication errors. Runtime was 52 minutes.
Second test. Connected the chassis to the Moxa A.P. with LAN cable. Laptop connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
Chassis still in Link Local. Ik can access the chassis in MAX. No problem.
When I run my test, I immediately see loop pauzes. After one minute there can be already a difference of 20 sec.
between calculated looptime and real time. Sometimes the active light on the chassis goes off and on.
When the active light is out, the loop is on hold. (Wich is normal as I assume the DAQ VI's are waiting for response.)
After appr.10 minutes the error -50405 "No Transfer in progress because transfer was aborted by client".
If I look at the timings there is already a difference of more then 5 minutes between the loop timing and the real time.
As last I tested with the chassis and the PC connected wireless to the Moxa A.P.
I did not get the -50405 error, but again loop drops. After 10 minutes there was a shift of 2 minutes.
Has anyone experience with wireless connections with the NI 9191 chassis?
Can I change my code? Did I mis something? (I'm a newbie to Labview)
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Frankie.

I am not clear on whether you are connecting the two together "in it's own little network" (which implies "router" and not "AP") or if you are connecting to the LAN through the wireless device (in which case it is entirely appropriate to refer to the wireelss device as an "AP").  Your last post about hot spots is what confused me.
But as you said, the biggest worry is the active light.  Try using a different router/AP.  I've seen routers overheat and reset themselves before due to inadequate heat sinking.  i.e., Someone (not me, I swear!) dropped the AP and knocked the heat sink off the chip.
As for the delay, if you are indeed using the Moxa as an AP, are you sure you're connecting to your AP?  If you're connected to a hotspot instead, your throughput will be at least halved - and maybe even 1/4 bandwidth if your AP happens to have connected to a different hotspot than you did.  If you are using it as a router, try differnt bands or channels to see if you can get around any interference your company wireless network might be generating.
In general, conclude that wireless isn't the best way to connect test devices together.

Proud to say that I've progressed beyond knowing just enough to be dangerous. I now know enough to know that I have no clue about anything at all.

After working fine for several months, my iPhone 5 has started dropping bluetooth connectivity for 2 to 5 seconds at a time with my Sony MDR-1RBT headphones.  The headphones work fine with other bluetooth devices.  I haven't moved to iOS7 yet.  Any ideas?

What user troubleshooting have you done on the phone? The steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Understand that a restore will put the latest iOS on your device. It is also possible there is a hardware fault on the device and the Bluetooth is failing. Anything is possible given the scenario you describe.
And as far as iOS 7.x is concerned, we have 5 different iPhones here at home, all with the latest iOS, a 4, 4s, 5c, and 2-5s and all are working just fine. So, a blanket statement such as the one provided by the other poster is not completely true. Others are not having any issues at all either.
