Ap Showing Download In iTunes But Already Downloaded?
Just noticed when I check for updates in itunes, Mountain Lion shows "download" instead of "installed".
Any idea what the problem is or how I mark it as being installed. I think I downloaded about a week or so after it first came out.

If you purchased them from the iTuens store, they are already in iCloud. All you would need to do is delete them from your device and you can redownload them again from iCloud in the future.

I did recently sync the music on the phone with another itunes on a windows pc because I was getting on a flight and wanted to hear the show that I had just seen and downloaded. Could that be the issue?
I figured when I got home I would just re-sync it to my own itunes and it would just delete what I had already listened to but no such luck. It is not even recognized: itunes could not open iphone due to unkown error.
I've already used the troubleshooter, and have restarted etc. Any ideas?

If it's an Audiobook, then it's probably in the Audiobook section of your iPhone. Have you set your iTunes to Sync Audiobooks with your iPhone?
Alternatively, if the Audiobook was imported into your iTunes Library as as Music, then it's going to be in the Music section of your iPhone. If so, then it will be in the Music section of your iTunes Library. To move it to the Audiobooks section, select it in the Library and choose File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind where you can change it.
You can change it to a Podcast, but since something is only a Podcast if it is delivered to your iTunes as a Podcast download (which is a process for delivering files without you having to go and find them), then your audiobook is not a Podcast and you may forget (in the future) how you obtained the book in the first place -

External hard drive showing up in iTunes but tracks are not...

I've read a bunch of the posts about running iTunes off an external hard drive but haven't had any luck getting my set up to work... I have an LG netbook, Western Digital 2 TB ethernet hard drive, the latest version of iTunes (updated yesterday)... Ideally I'd like to keep all of my iTunes stuff on the hard drive and access it through my netbook, iTouch, phone etc...
I followed Apple's instructions for moving iTunes to another drive - I consolidated the files, checked the box for keeping the files organized, changed the location for iTunes Media folder location to my external hard drive (when I 'Get Info' for the tracks iTunes it shows them in the external hard drive), then deleted the original iTunes Media folder... My Book Live shows up in iTunes, but does not list any tracks... I moved all of my iTunes (tv, music, ringtones, etc) to a folder I created in the external hard drive called iTunes... I did move the music from the iTunes folder to the Shared Music folder on the external hard drive, but neither location shows the tracks in iTunes...
Am I missing a step? I'm not great with computers in case that wasn't obvious But the instructions were clear and I had no problems going through them so I'm not sure what the problem could be...

I have had a couple minor problems trying to get multiple machines to use the same ext HD & iTunes library... but that's another story. LOL Maybe I just want too much. giggle Greedy me... I'll keep working on that... Anyhooo... I can address YOUR problem at least. Cuz, I think I know what you may have done wrong. Although the library of music (i.e. all the music files) are stored on the external hard drive, iTunes will still use the iTunes LIBRARY files (i.e. the files that list what is stored where and data and junk) that are on your computer's main hard drive. So, if you deleted those files in your iTunes folder when you say you deleted the iTunes media files on your main hard drive... you may have killed its ability to find, identify and play all those files out on your external hard drive.
You should still have a number of files like:
Sentinel
PPTThumbs
ITunesMusicLibrary
ITunesLibraryGenius
ITunesLibraryExtras
ITunesLibrary <-key one... tells it names of all your music & where files are
ITunesPreferences <-key one... tells it where you told it you stored your library
lots of weird .tmp files

You can try putting it into disk mode to see if it makes it easier on iTunes to recognize it.
To put your iPod into disk mode:
1) make sure your hold switch is OFF (NO ORANGE SHOWING)
2) hold the menu button and the center button at the same time for about 6-10 seconds until you see an apple logo
3) AS SOON AS you see the apple logo, release the two buttons and hold down center and play/pause
4) If you've done this properly you should now see Disk Mode Ok To Disconnect with a checkmark (when connected to your computer you should see Do Not Disconnect with Disk Mode at the top)
After you have the iPod in disk mode...see if iTunes picks it up then.

Hi, i need Help, ever since i updated iTunes to the newest one i been having an issue, i plug in my ipod touch 5g and it shows up in itunes, but problem is i cant click on it, shows my device is plugged in but its locked or something and i cant open it to sync my ipod. as seen in picture the device shows up but i cant click on it wont let me, i cant go to the sync page.
That means that iTunes is not seeing the iPod properly. Try:

i purchased this phone off ebay and when i tried to turn it on it showed a apple for a few seconds and then blank screen i was told to try going to i tunes hold the home button and then connect to the computer i did that then it shows conecting to itunes but it never does and itune doesnt see it in devices i dont know a thing about these phones but i am starting to think im screwed and should never have bought it any sugestions? the person i got it from is no longer on ebay .....go figure
Sounds like a damaged device.
Report it to ebay as a fraudulent transaction, UNLESS they clearly stated in the auction that it was a damaged device. -

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.
