AP1010 + Symbol MC3000 Series scanners

A client of mine has 14 Aironet 1010 AP's all around the warehouse (controlled by a WLC4402). The problem is, the signal strength shown on the Wavelink TelnetCE application as one red bar to two yellow bars, sometimes two green bars when you're really close to a 1010 AP.
Here's the weird part. Using a single Aironet 350 AP with rubber duck antennas, the signal strength goes up to 3 to 4 green bars.
We're still in the testing stage and only one scanner is currently being used at one time.
I have left the power and channel settings to auto on the WLC, and are currently automatically set at maximum for all AP's (power Level 1).
What am I missing?
Though, I currently have an open TAC ticket for this, I just think that a few extra dozen brains might help speed things up.
Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
I have set the tx threshold on the b/g band to -76dB from -65dB. There was a marginal improvement on the average SNR across all the b/g channels as the TX power on some radios went down a few notches. However, it still shows one red bar (poor) to two yellow bars (fair) in the Wavelink TelnetCE running on the Symbol MC3000. But if I exit the application, WinCE's Wireless Status utility shows full-scale and "Excellent". I'm at a loss on where TelnetCE is getting its signal strength readings.
I then got a chance to try another wireless scanner; an Intermec CK30. To my surprise, this dinosaur reports 2/3 to full-scale in most areas.
I did the site-survey using a laptop and OmniPeek and I did not experience any problems. I also did a walk-through with my Palm PDA, also with good results. It's just that the TelnetCE application is reporting the signal strength lower than it is actually receiving.
So here's the bottom line:
WinXP - "Excellent" and full-scale
PalmOS PDA - 80-95% scale
Intermec CK30 - 2/3 to full-scale
WinCE - "Excellent" and full-scale
Walvelink TelnetCE running on the same WinCE device - "Poor" with one red bar fluctuating to two yellow bars

  • Mac Pro OSX 10.8.3 HP 4000 series scanners are not detecting.

    Well..I think, I did everything. I have followed all instructions recommended by HP. I have updated and installed latest drivers. I have even searched the warez sites to find a trick. Useless, useless and useless.
    Hardware is retina display with 256 GB SSD, 1600 mGz  8 GB ram and I7 processor. OSX version is 10.8.3
    HP 4000 series scanners are not detecting by this machine. Vuescan is detecting but the scanning quality is also terrible.
    Strange. I have nothing to say.

    For the Scanjet 4850, follow the link below and click on the instructions tab.  It looks like you have to get the software and drivers for 10.6 and run a patch to make them work with 10.8.  That should get the scanner installed and working.

    For the Scanjet G4050, all you should need to do is install the driver from the link below to be able to use the scanner with image capture and other similar products.

  • AP1010 Vs 1100 Series

    Hi,
    Could you guys please tell me the differences between the 1000 series and the 1100 series access points. We are using the WiSM and my boss has asked which are better to use?
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,
    There is no concrete answer as to which AP is better. The 1000 series and 1100 series are both excellent products, that can be successfully deployed in most environments.The 1130 can be run as an IOS or LWAPP AP,while the 1000 series is stricly LWAPP.The 1130 has only built in antennas while the 1020 comes with RP-TNC antenna connectors that will allow flexibility in deployment models. The 1130 and 1000 series support different POE options which might influence your direction.If you are thinking about connecting a remote office to your wireless network then the 1030 is the way to go. Have a look at these links that may point out more of the simmilarities and differences for you;

    Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series Q&A
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6087/products_qanda_item0900aecd801b9189.shtml
    Here are some of the differences for comparison;
    The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is compliant with IEEE 802.3af. The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is also compliant with Cisco prestandard Power over Ethernet (PoE).
    The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series is ready to install and easy to manage, reducing the cost of deployment and ongoing maintenance. The device is available in either a lightweight version, or as an autonomous version that may be field-upgraded to lightweight operation.
    The Cisco Aironet 1130AG Series has 3.0 and 4.5-dBi integrated diversity antennas for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, respectively. These antennas are integrated into the design-there are no separate antenna options.
    The Cisco 1000 Series supports local or inline power. Inline power is provided via a Cisco 802.3af inline power-capable switch or by using the 802.3af Cisco 1000 Series Power Injector. The Cisco 1000 Series does not support Cisco prestandard Power over Ethernet.
    Cisco 1000 Series lightweight access points must be used in conjunction with a Cisco wireless LAN controller, which is responsible for handling system-level wireless LAN functions such as security, RF management, wireless LAN configuration, and mobility.
    All 1000 Series models are dual-band 802.11a/b/g lightweight access points that support integrated antennas in the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands. The 1020 model is equipped with RP-TNC antenna connectors in addition to dual-band internal antennas. The 1030 Remote-Edge Access Points (REAP) support the same antenna options as 1020 model lightweight access points, but can be connected over a WAN to a centrally located wireless LAN controller. The 1030 model is ideal for extending unified wireless LAN services to remote enterprise facilities.
    Hope this helps!

  • Symbol Pocket PC wireless programming

    Being new to Java, I have a project that I want to develop to learn wireless applications in the Pocket PC (CE) realm. Specifically, using Symbol wireless barcode scanners to access a database server connected to a wireless hub. Could you be so kind as to direct me to the correct development software. I downloaded the Mobile Wireless kit and also netbean, and studio developer. I want to be sure and start correctly with the right software in the beginning. Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate Sun for offering these tools to allow us to learn and develop applications from our desktop. I know I have a tremendous way to go, but I'm more than willing to put in the time and effort...Thanks again, Gary

    I fully agree that you should start on the PC, as suggested in the other reply.
    I also understand that you would like to prototype something that contains all
    the basic ingredients of your final solution. Therefore, I would suggest that
    as soon as you have a simple HelloWorld-ish application running on your PC
    (perhaps with a small GUI), you should try to move it to the handheld, just
    to learn the process. I did this kind of stuff 2 years ago and, at that time,
    after researching all the Pocket PC Java implementations, I settled for
    http://www.nsicom.com/ ($ involved, but free trial), which was the most complete at that time.
    Not sure if this is still the case. Search for "Java Pocket PC".

  • Problem with Leap if I use Aegis Client on winCE4.2

    Hello
    With Cisco PC-Card is no problem to authenticate with leap. But I am struggeling with the meetinghouse aegis client installed on Symbol MC3000 with windwos CE 4.2.
    I tried with dyn. wep and ktip, but both failed with the aegis client. There is absolutely no entry in the cisco ACS.
    Any input is very welcome
    Oliver

    Yes, you are right. I found it out too.
    TKIP with LEAP on windows CE 4.20 is working proper only with aegis client 2.1.4 from meetinghouse.

  • French accented characters in a barcode are being dropped when scanned by a handheld scanner

    We have an issue when our pdf417 barcodes contain french accented characters é,à,è, etc and are scanned by a handheld scanner.  As a result Montréal is decoded as Montral (the é is dropped).  We are using the Datalogic PowerScan 7000 and a Motorola Symbol DS6608 handheld scanners.  We currently have a ticket open with Datalogic.
    The problem does not exist when the barcode is decoded by LC Barocded Forms.Decode.
    Talking to someone, they indicated that this is pretty common with handhelds.  However, I did find this old post from lee sutton  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/332743 where he uses a keyboard wedge?
    Has anyone had to deal with a similar issue (non-english chars) via handheld?
    Can anyone recommend a handheld that does read non-eng characters without the wedge?
    Is there something in the encoding from Designer that i can do?

    When you're decoding with the hand-held scanner, you'll need to ensure that the decoder itself supports the scanning of extended characters AND if it's a keyboard-wedge scanner, ensure that your keyboard is in French or Canadian-French mode or the simulated typing won't happen.

  • Looking for a scanner to digitalize 35mm films and photos

    Hi!
    I have Photoshop CS2 and would like to buy a scaner to digitalize old photos.
    Can anyone recommend me one, please?
    Are there any small scanners, just for films and photos?
    Thanks a million!
    Monica

    The Epson perfection series scanners work well and are reasonably priced. Just be sure you get a model that has back lighting and a film holder. Something like http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oi d=53540925
    should suite you well, but they also have cheaper models closer to $100 that also support film scanning. We have used various models from the Epson perfection series for years with no problems.

  • Server 2008 TS - some client could not connect to the server

    Hi guys,
    I have a Server 2008 x64 Terminal Server with license server (some machine) and installed device CALs.
    I can connect with Windows 7 client to Terminal Server by RDP (TS assign device CAL to every connected machine automatically) without problem, but I get this error message if I try connection with Motorola (Symbol) MC8080 mobile scanners:
    "Because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer.
    Very that you are logged on the network, and then try connecting again."
    I tried different settings by KB2477176 and activate/deactivate server, but it didn't solve the problem.

    (These scanners can connecto to another Terminal Server.)
    Is it client or server-side issue?
    Have you another idee?

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Please again cross check whether you have properly configured certificate attached with the server. Because the error which you are facing is generally due to corrupted certificate on server side. As you have already tried, I again want you to back up the registry
    setting and then remove the X509 certificate registry key under below mention path, restart the computer and reactivate the RD Licensing Server.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM

  • Issue getting Motorola 9060G scanner to work with 5508 WPA-TKIP

    All,
    We have a new 5508 controller that we are trying to get setup to use our Motorola 9060G handheld scanners. This device uses WPA-TKIP and has been working with a Symbol controller without issue. I need to retire this controller so started re-creating the SSID on the Cisco controller. I am having issues getting the scanner to connect with the new SSID. It looks like everything works fine with no security but once I start to enable WPA+WAP2 I get no connectivity. Laptops work fine just not the handheld. I have tried every combination I can think of for AES and TKIP under the WPA and WPA2 policies. I have also gone through the Cisco Best Practices guide for Motorola/Symbol Wireless Handheld Scanners and so far unless I have no security I cannot get things to work properly. I tried doing a debug client to see what or how the two are talking but I can only get results with security set to open. Just looking for other suggestions as to something that I might be missing. My controller is running 7.6.100
    Thanks ...

    Just be aware that the Wi-Fi Alliance has scheduled the "elimination" of TKIP.  What you are about to do is a "temporary" solution.  You can get the scanner to work now because you are using WLC firmwares that still support TKIP.  However, if (in the future) you need to upgrade your controller's firmware to support newer wireless access points, your scanners may not work any more.

    What current flatbed scanners are compatible with an 2011 iMac 10.7 series?

  • How to customize line chart series and symbols?

    Hello Forum,
    who can help me to customize line chart series and symbols color?
    I need to customize this in dynamic way.
    Thanks in advanced.

    See example 8-10 (Example 8-10 Changing Chart Symbol Color) from http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/charts/css-styles.htm#CIHGIAGE (reproduced here).
    The linked tutorial document contains a picture of how this example renders.
    .chart-series-line {
        -fx-stroke-width: 2px;
        -fx-effect: null;
    .default-color0.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #e9967a; }
    .default-color1.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #f0e68c; }
    .default-color2.chart-series-line { -fx-stroke: #dda0dd; }
    .default-color0.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #e9967a, white; }
    .default-color1.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #f0e68c, white; }
    .default-color2.chart-line-symbol { -fx-background-color: #dda0dd, white; }Note the two comma separated colors listed for each -fx-background-color for the chart-line-symbol.
    The first color is the color or the outside of the symbol, the second is the inside of the symbol.
    In the sample css you provided you only supply a single background color for the chart-line-symbol, when two colors are required.

  • Thinkpad t23 series lights and button symbols diagram.

    thinkpad t23 series lights and button symbols diagram.
    I would like to get a diagram that lists the lights and the Thinkpad button along with its symbols. Like an arrow pointing to a light and telling me the X is functioning or not, along with the rest of speaker? symbols. Fn combos and their definitions would be good too.
    I do not have the owner/user manual for the T23 2647TU but I imagine it would be printed in some form there?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Bob,
    so here are some screen shots for you and others who may read in the future. This is a nice discovery for me also. Very useful, complete User's Guide for T23, XP version, which  I actually installed on my W500 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. The possibilities are endless, not just for T23, but for other older models which possibly have a User's Manual archived online. It means I could simply cut and paste so many steps of information which for myself are so obvious and elementary,  but will be invaluable to one of my young students learning basic computing skills. And the fact the User's Guide runs on my W500 means only the student needs to have a T23 (or whatever other machine in their hands), I don't need to have another T23 set up to access the manual.
    Here are a few step-by-step guidelines which may can help you and others reading in the future. Don't mind me putting so many details. As a teacher I like to explain things in such a way that even if one my 3rd grade students were to read this post they could follow the steps. Some people have never really used a laptop at all before and will be glad for simple, detailed steps:
    How to install T23 Access User's Guide on a Windows 7 machine (should be nearly identical procedure for XP or Vista):
    (1) As mentioned before just go to the Drivers and software - ThinkPad T23 download page:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT072383. There, under the "Software and utility" category you will find: Access online User's Guide for Windows - ThinkPad T23: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001263. Download the file and transfer it to your T23 using a USB flash drive.  (In my case I downloaded it directly onto my W500)
    (2) Double-click to run the downloaded file. It will extract setup files to C:\DRIVERS\ATP_PKG by default.
    (3) Click the START button ---> Computer----> Drivers ---> and double click to open the "ATP_PKG" folder. Double-click to run the "SETUP" application file.
    (4) After installation, you can navigate to Start Menu ---> All programs ----> Thinkpad ---> Thinkpad information, and RIGHT-CLICK "Access Thinkpad". You can then  choose to "Pin to taskbar" and/or "Send to desktop (create shortcut)" which will create an ACCESS THINKPAD logo right on your desktop with the cool old IBM logo which you can see in one of the pictures.
    I have included a few snapshots showing my W500 with T23 User's Guide installed: Main welcome screen with cute T23 animation (hence the  blur);  Main menu- notice even a link to reach IBM for warranty information (if anyone still has a warranty on their T23, joking of course); And "everyday use" menu which includes status light indicators and FN-key assignments you asked about. So you see how useful these old "User manuals" can be, because if anyone comes on the Forum we can just cut and paste information from the User's Manual. Some people (especially young people ) need that level of clarity and simplicity. And it's just a small file, 21.8 MB downloaded onto my W500.
    Below I <CUT> and <PASTED> a section from the User's Guide. Here are the Function keys you asked about (the pictures which didn't come out in cutting and pasting got replaced below by " "  and are just little asterisk symbols and a small diagram showing where FN key and Home/End keys are). Of course this can be remedied by taking screen shots instead:
     Function keys
    The Fn key function enables you to change operational features instantly. To use this function, press and hold the Fn key (1); then press a function key (2)--F1 to F12, PgUp, Home, or End.
    The following shows the functions of the Fn key with other keys:
    Power conservation or battery power
    Fn + F3: Turn off the computer display, leaving the screen blank. To turn the computer display on again, press any key or press the TrackPoint(R) pointer. Also the computer display is turned on if the ac adapter is attached to or detached from the computer.
    Fn + F4: Put your computer in standby mode. To return to normal operation, press the Fn key independently, without pressing a function key.
    Notes:
    This mode is called suspend mode in Windows(R) 95 and Windows NT(R).
    In Windows 2000 and Windows XP, this combination of buttons functions as a sleep button. You can change the settings so that pressing it puts the computer into hibernation mode or even shut the computer down.
    Fn + F12: Put your computer into hibernation mode. To return to normal operation, press the power button for less than four seconds.
    Note: To use Fn+F12 for hibernation in Windows 2000 and Windows XP, you must have IBM PM device driver installed on your computer.
    For information on the power management function, refer to Extending battery life.
    Other functions
    Fn + F7: Display output on the computer display, an attached external monitor, or both. Pressing this combination causes the display to go from the computer display to the external monitor, then to both together, and then to the computer display again:
    External monitor (CRT display)
    Computer display and external monitor (LCD + CRT display)
    Computer display (LCD)
    Note: This function is not supported when different desktop images are displayed on the computer display and the external monitor, or in certain cases in which the same desktop images are displayed on both screens, but the refresh rates of the screens are controlled separately by the system.
    Fn + F8: Switch the computer screen size between expanded and normal mode if your computer display image is smaller than the physical display.
    Note: This function is not supported in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
    Fn + PgUp: Turn the ThinkLight on or off.
    Note: The status of the ThinkLight, on or off, is shown on the screen for a few seconds when you press Fn + PgUp.
    Fn + Home: The computer display becomes brighter.
    Fn + End: The computer display becomes less bright.
    Note for the Fn key lock function
    The following setup gives you the same effect as when you press and hold the Fn key and then press a function key.
    Start the ThinkPad(R) Configuration Program. Click the Accessibility button, and click Enable for Fn key lock. You can also set up by typing PS2 FNS E at the command prompt.
    When the Fn key is not enabled, you need to hold it down while pressing a function key. When it is enabled, you can use the function keys more easily:
    Press the Fn key once. The next time you press it, you can release it and then press a function key, to get the same effect as if you had held the Fn key down while pressing the function key.
    Press the Fn key twice. Then, for the rest of your session, you can press any function key without pressing the Fn key again.
    Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • Symbols or pictures for series markers

    I have a line chart and want to mark each series with a different picture or symbol.
    ( The report will be printing in black and white so color will not work well )
    I don't see a way to do this. I tried to put a picture on the series marker but it looked like it completely ignored my picture.

    I have version 11.5r2
    Yes i have all the latest packs.
    If i can't use different pictures or symbols for each series, I think CR has a major issue. I would think at the least CR should be able to choose different symbols ( aka squares, circles, diamonds, etc.. ) for each series.
    Either way it does not help me now.
    I need to display this graph in black and white. I guess I could use some grayscale colors, but even that could be hard to discern on a printout.
    What do you suggest? Or what colors show up the easiest on black and white printers?
