AP1252AG Power Injector - Ethernet Failure Radios still UP

Hi All,
please can somebody help?
I was doing a simple test today with 2 AP's, both AP's are powered by Cisco Power Injectors. I was expecting that my client would simply switch association from one access point to another if I disconnected the ethernet cable of one AP (breaking the network connection). What I noticed was that the Radio's of the AP which has it's ethernet cable unplugged were still authenicating clients. i.e clients were authenticaing with radios of AP which has it ethernet interface down.
Please can somebody tell me whether there is a command that will cause the radios to shutdown in case of ethernet failure, thus forcing clients to try to find another AP

  • 1410 ethernet uplink LED is off on power injector

    I have a pt-to-pt wireless bridge consisting of two 1410 bridges operating over a 7 km link. It worked great until after approx. 2 weeks of operation it suddenly went down. The ethernet uplink led on the root's power injector was off with green injector status and ethernet activity led's. Tried power cycling, hard reset to factory defaults, and swapping injector and ethernet cables, power injectors, and radios with no luck. The consistent point of failure was the root bridge radio.
    After receiving replacement 1410, the link operated for about 3 weeks, but now the same thing has occurred (dark uplink activity light with green status and ethernet activity lights on power injector).
    Seems a bit unlikely that the same hardware error (if this was really the initial problem) would occur again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    A 7Km link I'm guessing is outdoors. The same radio in the same spot only lasting a couple of weeks...my first guess would be weatherproofing.
    How do you have the bridges set up physically?
    Are they outdoors or do they run low loss cable up a tower? Are they grounded to the common earth ground? Lightning arrestors (Static Arrestors!) things like that.
    What weather proofing has been done if any?

  • Aironet Power Injector -Air-Pwrinj-Blr2=

                      I am working with a Aironet Power Injector (Air-Pwrinj-Blr2=) trying to connect it to the access point it comes with to a desktop running Windows XP. I am able to connected to it and use cli commands via hyper terminal, but I am not able to get a network signal to the desktop. I was able to find the IP address or what I assume is the ip address, but can't ping it from inside the office and I am not able to use the ip address to get a connection to the power injector via browser. Has anybody worked with one of these units before this is a first for me and I am hoping somebody can steer me in the right direction and get this working. The Ethernet, Status and Radio are all blinking green lights on the access point and the Install is not used on this model so no light there. Thanks in advance for any help provided!

  • Aironet 1100 / 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) Support

    I was under the impression that the Aironet 1100 supports 802.3af POE. I purchased a NetGear FS108P POE switch, however, when I plug in the 1100, it does not receive any power.
    I have seen references in the documentation to a Cisco inline power injector and a Cisco Catalyst switch that can provide POE to the 1100 and maybe they will work, however, will the 1100 only work with those devices?? If so, it would seem that the 1100 really doesn't support the 802.3af standard and that Cisco's implementation of POE is proprietary.
    Any input would be appreciated.

    As you have discovered (unfortunately) is that the 1100 only supports Cisco Pre-standard PoE :( Have a look;

    The good news is that either of the options you listed will work just fine. I would go for the power injector probably just for neatness sake.
    POWERING OPTIONS
    The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series can be powered either locally using the AC-DC power adapter, or over the Ethernet cable when coupled with a device capable of delivering in-line power, such as an in-line power-capable Cisco Catalyst? switch, Catalyst in-line power patch panel, or Cisco Aironet Power Injector.
    The AC-DC power adapter is included with the access point and can also be ordered as a spare part. The Cisco Aironet Power Injector can either be configured to the order or can be ordered separately.
    You can use either;
    AIR-PWR-A= Cisco Aironet Power Supply-Input 110-240VAC, Output 48VDC, 380 mA-for 1100 and 1200 Series
    AIR-PWRINJ3= Cisco Aironet Power Injector for the 1100 and 1200 Series Access Points

  • LWAP PoE settings when using power injector

    We have 3500 series access points connected to a 5508 WLC. What power over ethernet option should I select for an AP thats using a power injector? Prestandard State or Power Injector State?

    Just leave it alone.  This setting is for old APs like the 1130 and 1240 and older.

  • Aironet 1310, power injector and poe cable

    Hello,
    Can the power injector delivered with aironet 1310 be supplied by a PoE RJ45 cable rather than the traditionnel DC adapter?
    The problem is, i thought Aironet 1310 was PoE. Which means it can be power supplied by a rj45 cable.
    But, when i openned my brand new 1310 box, i realized that 1st, it needs that Power Injector to work and that 2nd, Power injector needs a power supply...
    Usually when i buy a PoE access point, I just plug in my PoE rj45 cable and its power supplied :)
    Anyway, i hope there's an issue for this because where the 1310 should be placed, there's only a PoE rj45 cable arriving.

    Sadly the 1310 cannot be powered by PoE ,but, the Power Injector can be up to 100 meters away from the unit.
    Dual coaxial cable to run from the power injector to the 1300. See attached notes:

  • Cisco Power Injector - AIR-PWRINJ4

                       Hi there, I have a quick question about Cisco Power Injector.
                        we bought a number of Air-PWRINJ4 year ago,  mainly for extending the power via Cat5 ethernet cable to AP 1225 in warehouse. the output is 56V 0.55A. 
                        Now I have a couple of spare left, my quesiton is if it is OK to directly power 3502I AP, which requires imput 48V and .35A. from the bag of Air-PWRINJ4, it indecates that the 3500 series is also included.

    I am trying to connect a Aironet 1242 LWAPP AP to a Cisco 3524 non POE switch.For some reason I cannot access the power settings for the APs.What I do is ,got toConfigure ->Access points and slect the AP.My gut feeling is that I should modify the poer settings inorder to connect a power injector.I get a consistant amber light on the status LED and I feel its not normal...

    When an LWAPP-enabled access point (such as an AP1131 or AP1242) is powered by a power injector that is connected to a Cisco pre-Intelligent Power Management (pre-IPM) switch, you need to configure power over Ethernet (PoE), also known as inline power. You can configure PoE through either the GUI or the CLI.

  • Aironet Power injector LR2

    Hello,
    I have a few Aironet Power injector LR2's that are new and I'm trying to config for the first time. Im using the console cable with no luck - Com1 9600 8 none 1 none???? Very strange that it is not connecting on any of them - even tried a different cable. I get no display through hyperterm except maybe for a few symbols/chars. Tried the Ethernet port, checked dhcp server and did not show the device. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    If it is the 1310 power injector as Rob has linked above, then that power injector requires the 1310 to be attached to it for configuration. Basically, the power injector provides the ports (network/console) to the 1310 which only has the dual coax going to it.
    If you have a 1310 attached and you are not able to configure it via network or the console cable then you really have a problem. Otherwise, just know the power injector require no configuration to interface with the AP it was designed for.

  • IPhone 4 power switch total failure

    Is it reasonable for my iPhone 4 to have a power switch total failure as a result of being kept for a few hours in a wet jeans pocket (during and just after walking through  heavy rain shower). Is this product forseeable use or standard water damage insurance claim?

    It is possible, if perhaps unlikely.
    If your phone is still in warranty, consider setting up repair with Apple.  If they reject the repair due to water damage, then you can pursue a claim with your insurance company.

  • Power injector with SPA508g

    I decided to edit this since it got moved to a different place where it might not be understood:
    I have a UC320w phone system. I have SPA508g phones. I have a cisco POE switch next to the UC320. But, I have one far location that has one ethernet port and we want 3 computers and the SPA508g phone. I don't have a POE switch and I'd prefer to put the switch before the phone. (the out port on the phone is 10/100 where I'd like the link to the far switch to be gigabit).
    The SPA508g didn't come with power cords. I know I can get them.
    But I happen to have an Aironet 1200 access point power enjector: AIR-PSINJSYS1200. I think the aironet needs 48 volts, so I assume this power injector provides that (or up to that?).
    Is that ok to use this power injector with a SPA508g? Will it just draw whatever it needs or is that power enjector too much power? I seem some documentation that says the AIR-PSINJSYS1200 will work with a access point that requires less power, but I don't see any other documentation.

    Unfortunately this is the wrong area of the community to pose the question.  While I believe the aironet power injectors present a standard IEEE PoE interface to the device, I can say that for certain.  Certainly those power injectors are only supported for use with the Access Points, and the people who hang on on this community are unlikely to be familiar enough with the product to say for sure whether it will work.  If the injector does present an IEEE PoE interface then the phone should work fine, but I can't confirm that for you.  You might want to try posting a question to the wireless forum at

  • Show power-injector issue (Bridge 1410)

    Hello All,
    We have set up a point to point link using two 1410 wireless bridges. The connection has been working for more than 1 year without a major issue.
    This morning, we have noticed  that on one of the bridge the result of the show power-injector is as follows:

    Both bridges are associated. The problem is that you can't ping the bridge that displayed the aforementioned command through its power injector. We have even replaced the power injector with a  new one and we are still facing the same issue.
    Both bridges are using the following image c1410-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JY.
    Did someone has encountered the same issue and how did he/she fix it ?

    Actually port on the power injector switch are in auto-duplex and auto-speed mode
    you need to ensure external devices which you connected to power injector switch ports are not hardcoded in full-duplex, they needed to be in auto-duplex mode.
    because in result of duplex mismatch you connection could be slow down and even ports may shutdown.
    and also check both bridge with the latest firmware release
    Cisco Aironet equipment operates best when you load all components with the latest version of the software.

  • Power injectors don't work with APs

    Has someone got experience on cisco power injectors for Aironet APs.
    I bought 3 injectors, and 3 power supplys(injectors need power supply, but don't come with the boxes) from cisco.
    I connected a switch(2960) port to the port ‘to network’ on the power injector, and connected a AP(1142N) Ethernet port to the port ‘to Device’ on the power injector.
    The power injector was powered on by the DC supply. But the AP couldn't be powered on by the injector, and the switch port also showed 'noconnect'.
    No particular commands setup on the switch port’s settings.  I tried the switch port auto-auto and 100-full, Vlan access and trunk, but no luck with the injectors.
    Connected the same power supply to the same AP, used the same switch port and same cables, the AP worked fine with the switch.
    Thought of faulty injector, but it's weird that all 3 new purchased injectors are faulty.
    Am I doing anything wrong? do I need to put any commad on switch interface to use power injector?(I cannot believe that)  or just had bad luck of having 3 faulty injectors?
