Apache configuration for weblogic
Hi All
I need your help for configuring my apache for weblogic. Actually we created 2 non clustered server and deployed an application on them. Now we want to achieve the load balancing on the apache side. So, I am just wondering what exactly I should write down in http.conf to achieve it.
e.g in clustered environment we give :
<Location /process>
WebLogicCluster abc:7210,xyz:7210
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
where abc and xyz are cluster members.
If you have any idea then please share it.
Thanks in Advance.
To configure Apache Plug-in with Weblogic Server, follow the steps below
1. To make Apache server run on a different port say 8080, other than the dafault (80).
Modify the httpd.conf present at
D:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\conf
Change the Listen port to 8080 in the httpd.conf file
Listen 8080
2. Copy the mod_wl_20.so from \wlserver_10.3\server\plugin\win\32 to
D:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\modules
3. Apply the plug-n module by adding these in the httpd.conf file
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
<Location />
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicCluster localhost:7003,localhost:7005
Debug ON
WLLogFile c:/temp/wlproxy.log
WLTempDir c:/temp
</IfModule>
4. Restart the Apache Server

Setup issues: Apache plugin for Weblogic
Hi,
I've spent couple of days without success trying to configure apache plugin for weblogic. I've configured in accordance with bea documentation and it works fine in windows environment but fails in Solaris 9.
Plugin log file says it's processed the request successfully but I see error message in browser saying it can't find the jsp file. It works fine if I access the weblogic box directly without going through apache.
I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP2, single server.
Please find below the messages appear in browser, plugin logs, and apache version.
Thanks in advance for your help.

=================Plugin Logs End================Yes it is IBM Http Server, but it works fine from Windows accessing the same weblogic server I'm trying to connect from Solaris.
I see 500 error in the apache access log file.
I've also tried with by setting "MaxRequestsPerChild" to 0 in the apache config file but no good.
Please find below httpd.conf file content.
==============httpd.conf===============
ServerName eus0000168.eu.verio.net
# Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
# This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/> for detailed information about
# the directives.
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
# The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
# 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
# whole (the 'global environment').
# 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
# which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
# These directives also provide default values for the settings
# of all virtual hosts.
# 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
# different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
# same Apache server process.
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/opt/IBMIHS" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/opt/IBMIHS/logs/foo.log".
### Section 1: Global Environment
# The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
# such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
# can find its configuration files.
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
# NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
# mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available
# at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);
# you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
# Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
ServerRoot "/opt/IBMIHS"
# The accept serialization lock file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.
#LockFile logs/accept.lock
# PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
# identification number when it starts.
PidFile logs/httpd.pid
# Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
Timeout 300
# KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
# one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
KeepAlive On
# MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
# during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
# We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
# KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
# same client on the same connection.

How can I list all the domains configured for Weblogic Servers?
How can I list all the domains configured for Weblogic Servers?
I saw a note, which says the following:
"WebLogic Server does not support multi-domain interaction using either the Administration Console, the weblogic.Admin utility, or WebLogic Ant tasks. This restriction does not, however, explicitly preclude a user written Java application from accessing multiple domains simultaneously."
In my case, I just want to list all the domains, is that possible by using any scripts?
Thanks
AJIf you use WLS Node Manager and the Config Wizard was used to create the domains, then the list of domains should be in a location like this:
<MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager\nodemanager.domains
Enterprise Manager Grid Control also has support for multi-domain management of WLS in a console. -
Apache frontend for Weblogic: problem
Folks,
I have Apache 2.x running.
The module "mod_wl_20.so" is in the <apache_home>/modules directory.
httpd.conf contains the following:
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
<IfModule weblogic_module>
WebLogicHost <ip-address of weblogic server>
WebLogicPort 7601
</IfModule>
I restart the httpd server without problems...and yet i cannot
get http://<apache server ip address>/weblogic to work
though both webserver are workin fine.
please advise.Which platform? WebLogic 8.1 does package the plugin.
Look in either in the weblogic81\server\lib\XXXXX directory or in the
weblogic81\server\bin directory for the mod_wl_20.so.

I tried to find the Apache plugin for WebLogic 8.1, but I could not findone.
I downloaded the one from BEA web site, but it did not work. I run Apache2.0.46
on Windows 2000 and WebLogic 8.1. The plugin I downloaded gave an errormessage
complaining about the version is incompatible and require some 20020915version.
Does anyone know where I can find the apache plugin? We are testing tomove

Netscape or Apache plugin for WebLogic
Hi,
The Netscape plugin for WebLogic is mentioned many time in on-line
documents for WebLogic servers. However, I can't find any information
with regard to how the plug-in is distributed, licensed. Could someone
please tell me if it is bundled in the server download? How do I install
this thing? Is there Apache plugin for Solaris platform?
Thank you,

Hi, Micheal,
Thank you very much. I found them. They are all *.dll files. I seems to
have the impression that BEA support both NT and solaris. Keep looking
I also found a file called libproxy.so in the weblogic/lib/solaris
directory. Is this the one I need? If so, what do I need to do to
install?
Thanks,

Apache configuration for proxying requests to Weblogic SSL port
Hello Everyone,
I want to proxy requests from Apache to Weblogic server on its SSL Port 7002. I am using the default SSL demo version provided by Oracle/BEA.
Both my Apache and Weblogic instances are running on same machine.
This is the procedure I followed. I enabled SSL port on Weblogic. Added below configuration to Apache conf file. I am passing trusted.crt file inside WL_HOME/server/lib as parameter to TrustedCAFile .
<Location "/">
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicHost ServerHostMame
WebLogicPort WLInstanceSSLPort
SecureProxy ON
TrustedCAFile "C:/trusted.crt"
RequireSSLHostMatch false
Debug ALL
WLLogFile "C:/wl_proxy.log"
</IfModule>
When I start the Apache instance and try to access the webpage I see below exception in proxy log.

First to enable full logging, add this

Then after a failure (even after fixing the above), look at the log, and if you see this INFO/WARN:

that means you have same problem as I do. The WeblogicHost inside the Location descriptor should match the actual host name for the machine. I believe it's easer because the certificate created by weblogic during its installation will encapsulate the machine host name, or because the SSL validation mechanism expects the machine host name, nothing else.

How to do Apache configuration for two different domains
Hi ,
I was just trying out some clustering workshop on weblogic. I faced a issue..here is the scenario :
I have two clusters :
Cluster1 : 3 managed servers (server1,server2,server3)
Cluster2 : 2managed servers (server4,server5)
I have two sample applications which i have deployed on these two clusters i.e app1 on cluster1 and app2 on cluster2.
These two aplications are deployed successsfully as i am able to open these applicatons from browser by calling the individual port of the managed server like : http://localhost:7003/app1.
Now i have installed a apache server on my laptop and configured the http.conf file.
Issue : I am not able to call both the application from apache. If there is only one cluster then it is working fine and for two application only one cluster (application) is working that too whose port is defined in the last.
Here are the contents of my httpd.conf file :
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
# with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/logs/foo.log".
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
# will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to point the LockFile directive
# at a local disk. If you wish to share the same ServerRoot for multiple
# httpd daemons, you will need to change at least LockFile and PidFile.
ServerRoot "C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2"
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80

Help with Apache plugin for WebLogic on HP-UX
Hi,
I am trying to get Weblogic 5.1(w/sp8) on HP-UX 11 talking to Apache 1.3.19.21(port
8080) also on HP-UX 11 ( both on same box ). I have WebLogic listening on port
9001, and I followed the instructions to configure apache and weblogic. However
when I do http://mymachine:8080/weblogic/portal/hello.jsp. I get unable to find
page.
weblogic is installed in /weblogic. The hello.jsp is located in /weblogic/myserver/public_html/portal/hello.jsp.
Apache is installed in /opt/apache.
The Apache httpd.conf file contains the following:
<Location /weblogic>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
PathTrim /weblogic
WebLogicHost localhost
WebLogicPort 9001
</Location>
What am I missing ? The error_log for Apache shows the following:
[Mon Nov 12 11:21:09 2001] [warn] Loaded DSO libexec/mod_wl.so uses plain Apache
1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)

[Mon Nov 12 11:21:32 2001] [notice] child pid 13248 exit signal Segmentation fau
lt (11)Well... there is a warning in the log file saying that it might crash - and then
it crashes. Check that you are running a supported platform, if you are, contact
BEA Support.
I would discourage the use of forwarding to 'localhost'.

Apache plugin for Weblogic not forwarding entire X509 certificate chain
I really hope there's someone out there that can help with this. I've spent all week trying various things to make this work.
SUMMARY
It doesn't appear that the Weblogic plugin (mod_wl_20.so) for Apache (2.0.49) sends the entire X509 certificate chain sent from a client to Weblogic (9.2).
DESCRIPTION
We have Apache set up to accept client certificates over SSL. This authentication process is successful. When viewing the weblogic plugin log, I can see the headers that are being sent to weblogic:
Thu Aug 9 11:34:20 2007 Hdrs from clnt:[Content-Type]=[text/xml; charset=utf-8]

The key here seems to be WL-Proxy-Client-Cert. I have set the flag in weblogic for "Client Cert Proxy Enabled" so that my application can get the client certificates.
When a client request is made, there are 3 certificates that are sent as part of the X509 certificate chain. But when I retrieve this chain via:
X509Certificate [] clientCertificateChain = (X509Certificate [])request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate");
The length of this array is only 1! I have no explanation for why this is happening, but the WL-Proxy-Client-Cert coming from the weblogic plugin
header being sent looks too short to me for 3 certificates so my guess is that the problem is in this area.
Here's my weblogic plugin configuration in apache:
<Location /ddm>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicCluster denwlsd1:7711
WLLogFile /tmp/wl_proxy.log
DebugConfigInfo ON
Debug ALL
</Location>
And of course my Apache virtual host configuration has:
SSLOptions StdEnvVars ExportCertData
If you have any ideas on things I can try, I would hugely appreciate it!!!

Installing the Apache HTTP Server Plug-In on Win2000 apache server for WebLogic 6.0
Hi, I was wondering if there was a plugin available for apache on a win 2000. I
only see those for unix solaris, hp. I need one for my Win2000 apache server to
proxy requests to my weblogic6.0 clustered servers. Thanks.I guess this is not available for 6.0sp1 users, since I cannot find this folder.
Thanks,

We only support apache20 on win32 platform.
You can find mod_wl_20.so in $WLS_HOME/bin/apache20 from 6.1.

WLS5.1 apache plugin for Solaris8 Intel
Is there WLS5.1 apache plugin for Solaris8 Intel platform?
Which platform?

We are testing tomove
forward to WebLogic 8.1 but without the plugin, we can not move forwardwith our
WebLogic 8.1 upgrade. Thank you for your help.

Error NO_RESOURCES when using Apache Plug-in for Weblogic
Hi all,
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
OS.....: OEL 6.3 64 bits
Weblogic Server: 12.1.0.2 (192.168.0.123)
Apache: Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) (192.168.0.149)
I am trying to configure the Apache Plug-in to forward the requests to the Weblogic Server. I already did all the configuration, but when i try to access a page, i get the following error in Apache's error.log:
[Wed Dec 03 18:25:42 2014] [error] [client 192.168.0.149] <649114176419322> weblogic: *******Exception type [NO_RESOURCES] (apr_socket_connect call failed with error=13, host=192.168.0.123, port=7006 ) raised at line 1682 of URL.cpp
[Wed Dec 03 18:25:42 2014] [error] [client 192.168.0.149] weblogic: Trying GET /benefits/ at backend host '192.168.0.123/7006; got exception 'NO_RESOURCES: [os error=13, line 1682 of URL.cpp]: apr_socket_connect call failed with error=13, host=192.168.0.123, port=7006 '
[Wed Dec 03 18:25:44 2014] [error] [client 192.168.0.149] <649114176419322> weblogic: request [/benefits/] did NOT process successfully..................
My httpd.conf if configured as follows:
Listen 8080
LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl.so
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WeblogicHost 192.168.0.123
WeblogicPort 7006
</IfModule>
<Location /benefits>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
</Location>
When i try to access the app deployed in Weblogic with the following address: "http://192.168.0.149:8080/benefits/" , i get the error mentioned above and the following error is displayed in my browser:
Failure of Web Server bridge:
No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent.
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.Hi all,
I had some progress... i disabled the firewall (SELinux) on the Apache server. Before, i had just disabled the firewall from the Weblogic Server. Now, when i access the apache server, it redirects (sometimes, actually) the request to my Weblogic Cluster. Let's say that 50% of the time it works and the other 50% i get the error informed previously.
I am using the apache user and the ulimit of this user is:
[apache@vm-apache conf]$ ulimit -a
core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
scheduling priority (-e) 0
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals (-i) 15915
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 64
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files (-n) 1024
pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
real-time priority (-r) 0
stack size (kbytes, -s) 8192
cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes (-u) 1024
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
file locks (-x) unlimited
From the Apache server (192.168.0.149), when i execute the "culr" command, i get the following message:
[apache@vm-apache conf]$ curl http://192.168.0.123:7006/benefits
<html><head><title>302 Moved Temporarily</title></head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
<p>This document you requested has moved temporarily.</p>
<p>It's now at <a href="http://192.168.0.123:7006/benefits/">http://192.168.0.123:7006/benefits/</a>.</p>
</body></html>
The message above represents a OK situation or a problematic one?
Below you can see the last few lines of my Error Log and Access Log:
