Apache crashes

Hi
I've installed an Oracle Forms and Reports services instance (10g) on a Windows 2000 environment.
From time to time the HTTP server stops without an aparent reason.
If I look at the logs from the HTTP server I can't get too much information.
Could someone help me in the following directions:
How to increase the level of information when the http server goes stops?
Where to look for problems?
Thanks for your advice.
Cecilio

Thanks for the info.
I've added a line into the opmn.xml file according to a metalink note:
<ping timeout="300" interval="30"/>
I will follow the stability of the appserver and see the logs.
I'll provide feedback in a few days.
Best regards.
Cecilio

  • Frequent Apache crashes on win nt 4.0 server

    Hi,
In our production environment we use Portal 3.0.9.8.0 and the 9iAS is on a win nt 4.0 server and the 8.1.7.0.0 rdbms is on another
win nt server (3-tier). Other products on the 9iAS are Discoverer and Web Forms and Reports.
The apache webserver is crashing frequently. First we received a WSADuplicateSocket error.
After seraching on metalink we found a workaround that described to exclude mod__ose.conf in the oracle%.conf file. (e.g [#] include mod__ose.conf ). After implementing this workaround, the errors concerning the WSADuplicateSocket disappeared.
But now after browsing a few minutes apache still crashes. Now we receive another error message:

Apache tries to create a new child process but fails.
My question is if there is a patch or a workaround for this that works for 99.9%
or should I change the 9iAS environment to Linux or Unix ? Also, what are the future developments with the 9iAS ? Is Oracle planning a stable version of apache for win nt / 2000, or are that advertisement lines ?
No offence, but it is quite irritating to solve one bug and to find another waiting for you.

    Hi Jerome,
We were experiencing the same issue but we eventually traced the problem.
Apache crashed when using a Windows 2000 client and Internet Explorer 5.0. Upgrading to IE 5.01 or 5.5 sorted out our problem... Or using NT 4 as the client...
    Could this be your problem?

  • Apache crashes frequently

    Hi All,
    I have the following configuration:
    Database : 8.1.7 EE
    9iAS : 1.0.2.0 EE
While I am testing new applications on Portal, Apache crashes frequently. May be twice or thrice daily. Does any patch have to be applied for this problem.
Secondly, since last few days, suddenly the TNSListener stops working and the only solution to bring it up it to restart the machine. Does this happens because of the DBLinks that I am using in Portal applications or because of something else. Does anybody else have face this error? Whats the solution for this.???
    Thanks in advance..

I cannot find this bug number on Metalink or the patch! What is the patch number for the 8.1.7.1.1 Client library patch?

  • OEM Appl. Server Control: BI Forms Instance not accessible - Apache Crashes

    Dear Colleague,
We have OAS Release 1 installed. We operate an Oracle Forms/Reports application. That means, we have the standard Infrastructure Appl. Server instance and the BI Forms instance runing on OAS.
I recently installed a new DB instance called RKMSTEST on the DB server (the production DB is called RKMS). Since the installation and configuration of the new test DB. Consequently, I also create corresponding RADs (Resource Application Descriptors) in OID and updated the TNSNAMES.ORA file to include the new test database RKMSTEST.
    The problems are
    a) that the Apache.exe program (ntdll.dll) crashes regularly
    b) the OEM Appl. Server Control web program for the BI Forms instance is no longer accessible (OEM Appl. Server Control web program for the Infrastructure Instance is accessible).
Do you have any ideas or tips how I can debug these problems?
    Best regards,
    Charles

How do you try to access console? what url do you use?
From what components you want to check the ports asigned? Only Oc4j's, webcache, http_server and oid should show something here.
Did you check the file $OH/install/portlist.ini and opmn.xml, rmi.xml?

  • Weird error_log entries and apache crashing

    Hi, I've got a 3.0.9.8.1 install on NT4 SP6 against a 8.1.7.1.1 EE db.
After a couple of hours use I received a 503 time out error whilst creating a QBE Report. Bouncing Apache and db brought it back up and running and the report seemed ok.

A couple of extra things to add. During the 3.0.9.8.1 patch I replaced the wwpage.jar file but wasn't too sure of the exact format to use for minInstall and minTimeout parameters in the zone.properties file. Can someone indicate how this should be.
Also after the 9iAS base install, prior to running the OPCA I ran in the following script as SYS. vpdctx.sql

  • New aliases crash apache

Looking to see if any of you folks have come across this, every time I add an alias via server admin (running server 10.4.10 and server admin 10.4.7) Apache crashes and I have to copy over the http.conf with a back up. Though this is a easy fix its kind of a pain as i have short term memory issues and always forget.
    any tips would be awesome
    thanks

Thank you!   I have ead every thread & Knowledge Doc I could find,  I have called Apple and I have asked at the Apple Store,  NO ONE told me this.  Rolling out features I understand, however being offered the option to create aliases then repeatedly being told
with no explanation is exaspertaing!  How hard would it be to post a notice in the DIscussion Boards, if not into the iCloud Mail alias creating sequence?  Think of waste of time & the annoyance caused, the complaints in Discussion Board & the phone calls to Apple that could be avoided.  Poor management.  When Google rolls out new features they post the fact that features are rolling out & you will have to wait a bit.

  • Crash of Apache + ORA-00600 + ORA-01001

    Hello,
On my production server, Windows Server 2003, I've installed WAMP 1.4.3 running Apache/1.3.33 and with version of PHP: 5.0.3. I'm using the extension php_oci8.dll. The database Oracle is Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bit
We are facing Apache crashes (several time a week), which do not seem to be linked to a specific action performed on the application.
When this happen, the following message appears in Oracle log:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments : [17281], [1001], [0x0B5242F40], [], [], [], [], []
    ORA-01001: invalid cursor
In the log, there is as well the following line, which I don't know how to read:
    program: Apache.exe
    application name: Apache.exe, hash value=0
last wait for 'SQL*Net message from client' blocking sess=0x(nil) seq=52 wait_time=2653 seconds since wait started=0
We were asked to change the version of the client Oracle to 10.2.0.4 (it was a previous version) but that still doesn't correct the problem.
I'm wondering if the issue is on the Apache side or on Oracle?? It seems that the Apache is waiting to Oracle's response and as Oracle doesn't give the information it needs, that makes Apache crash.
Does anyone faced the same issue?
    Thanks for any help.

Using Oracle 10.2.0.4 is good. I'm not surprised it hasn't helped
because there are very few cases where the minor patch number has
    impacted PHP OCI8.
I think the problem is the PHP version. All my warnings in various
posts/forums/articles about the instability of the default OCI8
extension with PHP 4 also apply to PHP 5.0 and PHP 5.1.1. The error
you mention wouldn't surprise me with any of those versions.
A refactored OCI8 extension to resolve various issues only first
appeared in PHP 5.1.2. Unfortunately on Windows it isn't so easy to
drop in the latest OCI8 extension code. I suggest upgrading to PHP
    5.2.
If you want to continue using WAMP, the lastest WampServer on ships
PHP 5.3.0. This was the very first release of a major PHP version so
the changes and instability might be a factor for you. I'd look at
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/wampserver/files/WAMP5/ and find one
that uses a PHP 5.2 release. Then I'd see if replacing the default
    php_oci8.dll with php_oci8-1.4.1-5.2-vc6-x86.zip from
http://downloads.php.net/pierre/ works. (Or maybe use the -nts-
version of the file depending whether WAMP runs non-thread-safe).
You could do worse than replace WAMP with your own PHP installation
    following
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/php/htdocs/inst_php_apache_windows.html
    or
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_php_instant.html
    or use Zend Server.

  • Building OpenSSO Policy Agent 2.2 for Apache 2.x

    Hi,
I've been trying to build OpenSSO policy agent using sources from opensso_agentbranch22 on WINNT for Apache 2.0 web server. The reason I can't use the pre-build binary is because we are trying to customize the agent to integrate with another SSO app which sends us data. The compilation itself seems to work OK. But the libamapc2.dll (Apache module dll) created seems to be only 24-26k in size vs the 700k size in the binary distributed by Sun.
Apache fails to start when this agent is installed, saying that the dll is invalid. Am I missing something in my compilation and linking process? I'm using VS 6 for the cl and link, Ant and Cygwin.
Any input from the Sun OpenSSO gurus is greatly appreciated.

I can show a snapshot from the Depends tool that clearly shows that amsdk.dll is dynamically linked. It creates all sorts of issues with Apache 2.0 as it doesn't like the dynamic linking. Until I changed the Makefile in the am directory to use the static library, I could not get my libamapc2.dll to match the libamapc2.dll distributed by Sun. Even now there are issues with libnspr4 and msvcrt.dll. Apache crashes as soon as it loads the libamapc2.dll and the issue has been narrowed down to the strlen() method. This method is used for logging messages by the agent.
I wish Sun maintained a copy of the 3rd party libs they use to build the agent in their CVS instead of asking us to fetch those libraries from another website, in which case libraries may not correspond 1:1.

  • Reinstall Apache

    Hi,
I updated a library (libpng) and now Apache is complaining that it can't find it. I used homebrew to install the latest ImageMagick (required by a Ruby Gem to code in Ruby). It seems to have installed a more recent version of libpng and now Apache crashes.
    The error is:
05/04/11 06:43:29 org.apache.httpd[90200] httpd: Syntax error on line 115 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: dlopen(/opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so, 10): Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng12.0.dylib\n Referenced from: /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so\n Reason: image not found
Do you have any idea of how to revert back to the original version or, if possible, update Apache?
    Thanks in advance,
    Juan

    No, it isn't working.
I've checked php.ini and it has no changes.
In my /opt/local/lib dir I've the libpng14 library files, not the libpng12. Do you know if the standard one is libpng12?
If so, Apache httpd.config file points to the old library, so it's seems that somehow this time installing the ImageMagick library -and it's dependencies- updated that library, leaving Apache pointing to the old one.
I've already tried to get the previous version from the backup and Apache then complains about a different library. I guess the chain of dependencies included several of them.
I really think that a way to update Apache could fix this. I just didn't find any Apache package in homebrew.

I have been working with Oracle and PHP since Oracle 8.x and PHP4 and everything has been running smoothly. After we upgraded from PHP4 to PHP5 and from Oracle 8 to Oracle 9 I had to switch from using the old php_oracle extension to the OCI-libraries, but otherwise there were no problems.
But now I am completely stumped. We are currently using Oracle version 9.2 and since our production enviroment is extremely large we are not going to upgrade to Oracle 10 or greater for many years.
PHP though keeps on going forward. I am currently using PHP 5.1.0. I have tried several times upgrading to anything beyond that. 5.1.2, 5.1.4 and recently 5.1.6. But the oracle extensions just don't want to play anymore.
I get the following error message everytime I start my apache 1.3:
The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not be located in .. OCI.dll
    After reading this thread
(Re: "The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not bel located in .. OCI.dll"
I seem to know what the cause of the problem is. But how can I get past this? I would really like to upgrade our PHP version and still be able to use oracle. 5.1.0 is the last version which seems to work ok. Anything greater than that will not work at the moment.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
EDIT: I am using Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Server. Unfortunately Linux is not an option where I work.
EDIT2: Another edit. Actually I can start the thing up with PHP 5.1.2, but then I get a weird apache crash whenever I try to run a simple select query. No error messages and the log is empty. I am completely stumped.

Thanks for the answers. The oci8.dll is uncommented naturally. Otherwise it would start up just fine, but I couldn't use the database functions.
I got it working by installing 5.1.6, but replacing the oci8.dll with the one from the 5.1.0 -version. It's a very... desperate... solution, but at least it works.
I'm gonna have to try to sell the idea of using the 10g client to our DBA. I don't think though, that he'll be very enthusiastic to set it up on our production servers. We'll see.
