Apache error on Leopard

After upgrading to Leopard, I always get the following error when trying to use the Apache control script (apachectl):
dyld: Symbol not found: apr_socketsendfile
Referenced from: /usr/local/apache2/bin/httpd
Expected in: /usr/local/apache2/lib/libapr-1.0.dylib
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 78: 24314 Trace/BPT trap $HTTPD -k $ARGV
However, I can still start Apache manually using "sudo httpd -k start"; but that doesn't work for autostarting at boot time.
I tried recompiling Apache, and even upgrading to 2.2.6. Neither solution worked.
Does anybody know where this problem is coming from, and how to fix it?
Thanks!

Thanks, that did the trick. Although, in order to get APR to compile, I had to change the "APRHASSENDFILE" constant to 0 in 'httpd-2.2.6/srclib/includes/apr/apr.h'. Apparently a version of sendfile hasn't been written for my system, or else I just don't have it.
Thanks again.

  • Apache Error During the Installation of Oracle 10g Infrastructure

    Hi,
I am installing the Oracle 10g Infrastructure.During the OPMN Configuration Assistant Installation, i encountered the Apache error. The error is failed to start a managed process after the maximum entry limit. I tried this command: opmnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_Server but still the windows displays this message: Apache.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I open the logs located at <ORACLE_HOME>\opmn\logs\HTTP_Server.log, the logs says Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?. I tried to uninstall using deconfiguration.pl but the program says that its ok to use the Universal installer. I uninstall then deleted the entries at the registry and then reinstall it, but still, it displays the error. Are there any solution that can solve this problem?
I am installing in windows xp service 2. My oracle infrastructure version is 10.1.2

    Hi,
There is no error_log file under this directory: <ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/logs. Maybe the cause is the conflict of computer name. I'll keep you posted as long as I finish installing the application.

  • Need help interpreting an Apache error message

I hope my Apache/Tomcat questions of late aren't off topic - I am trying to get them to work together so that Tomcat will handle Java servlet.
I'm one of collection of newbies trying to troubleshoot the fact that we can't do anything with servlets even though everything seems to be set up OK. I need to verify that my interpretation of an Apache error message is correct (or not).
Anyway, whenever someone types in the URL of a servlet in the form http:/myURL/mydomainname.com/servlet/HelloWorld (where URL is in the form ##.#.###.###, since the domain name officially "assigned" to the URL yet) The browser displays an error message saying that /myURL/mydomainname.com/servlet/HelloWorld was not found on the server.
Upon looking at the Apache error log, the following statement is found::
[Sat Jul 23 17:54:10 2005] [error] [client XX.X.XXX.XXX] File does not exist: /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/servlet
(this is a virtual site; all that extra /virtual/site1/fst/ is supposed to be in there.
Note the fact that the error message stops at the word "servlet" and does not say "/servlet/HelloWorld". That makes me think that Apache does not realize that "/servlet" means "send what comes next over to Tomcat" and instead thinks that the browser is trying to get into a DIRECTORY called "/servlet" which does not exist.
Am I correct in this? Does that error message imply that is what is going wrong?

Your note is making me think that you've got the
Apache Web server running on Linux, and you've tried
to make Tomcat the servlet/JSP engine that Apache
forwards all servlet/JSP requests to. Apache is
listening on port 80, of course. All correct? All correct.
I'm not sure that you've got Tomcat bolted onto
Apache properly, Probably not. My question is, basically, is that what the aforementioned error message is implying??
or if you've deployed your servlet
correctly. Again - does the aforementioned error message indicate that Apache simply isn't calling Tomcat in the first place, in which case nothing is even looking for the servlet? Yes or no? I've experimented and found that Apache error messages always stop at the first thing that they don't recognize. For example, if someone types in http://URL/domainame/totally/bogus/vaporware, the Apache error message will say: "File does not exist: /home/virtual/site1/fst/var/www/html/totally" because the directory "/totally/" is the first thing it comes accross that does not exist. I'm trying to verify that possibility so that I know better where to look for the error. Or is it possible that Apache DOES recognize what /servlet/ means, is succesfully getting to Tomcat, but something else is going wrong that causes Apache to sned that error message?
Also, there is no sign of activity in Tomcat's Catalina.out log file since the day
I last turned Tomcat on (successfully). Since that's the only thing in Tomcat's log folder, I assumed it was where Tocmat's error messages would show up (if not, where are they? Havn't been able to find anything else). If that is the case, Tomcat has indeed not been contacvted by Apache.

  • Apache error  virtual() and PHP

Using DW8's server behaviors, DW writes a virtual() statement
to include the connection to MySQL. I get an error (standard
windows looking error dialog box) saying that: "Apache HTTP Server
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." In the Apache error log it is listed as: Error in
    my_thread_global_end(): 252 threads didn't exit.
If I use a require_once() in its place, I dont get the error
with Apache but DW keeps re-writing the virtual() statement and
gives me the nasty (!) in the server behaviors panel.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    PS - I am using DW8, php5.2.4, Apache2.2.6.

I've answered this in your other thread, but for the benefit
    of anyone
who stumbles across this one instead, I'll paste the answer
    here too:
Dreamweaver 8 and CS3 use virtual() if you select links
    relative to the
site root in the Local Info category of the site definition
    dialog box.
Since the PHP include and require commands cannot interpret
site-root-relative links, you should select document-relative
    links when
defining a PHP site. In cases where you need to use
    site-root-relative
links (such as in an include file), override the default link
    style in
the Create Link dialog box (there's a drop-down menu at the
    bottom left
of the dialog box that lets you select whether the link is
    relative to
the site root or to the document).
The reason virtual() probably doesn't work for you is that
    it's an
Apache-specific function that works only when PHP is
    installed as an
    Apache module.

i would walk the above files and check to see if they have

  • Apache "Forbidden" Error after Leopard Upgrade

    Hopefully this is really simple.
I have just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard and as part of that process Apache 2.2 was installed where before I had Apache 1.3. Interesting the upgrade turned Web Sharing OFF - nice - however that was easily overcome in System Preferences.
However, I know next to nothing about Apache so cannot easily solve the next problem. Now whenever I try to access http://localhost/~Username Apache returns "Forbidden - You do not have permission".
It would be much appreciated if anyone could let me know where I need to put the 'tick-in-the-box' or amend some configuration setting. Thanks in advance.

I finally got my Leopard Apache configuration working with PHP5 and with MySQL. I also solved (finally) the forbidden errors I was seeing. Here are some of the changes I made.
    1. My read permissions on my website files and directories were configured correctly so I suspected that something inside my httpd.conf file was amiss. Inside /etc/apache2/httpd.conf, I commented out two lines in the <Directory> block. This fixed the "forbidden" messages I was seeing for my virtual hosts. See below:
    <Directory />
    Options FollowSymLinks
    AllowOverride None
    # Order deny,allow
    # Deny from all
    </Directory>
    2. I used the system.log in Console to detect and fix httpd.conf syntax errors. If you have syntax errors in any of your httpd.conf files, apache2 under Leopard will not start.
    3. I removed the comment character from the start of the line below inside httpd.conf:
    LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache2/libphp5.so
I am now back to where I was with Tiger.

  • Proper parameters for Apache in Snow Leopard

Since reinstalling Snow Leopard, I'm having a terrible time getting Apache to work. I have a redirect going on my web site from www.xxxxx.com to www2.xxxxx.com:8102. This redirect is not working and I think the problem exists in my httpd.conf file which I had to rebuild from scratch after the reinstallation. Here are the configuration parameters - are there any obvious errors I've made? I'm banging my head against the wall here! Thanks:
    ServerRoot "/private/etc/apache2"
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    # Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
    # prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    Listen 80
    Listen 8102
The apachectl -t test is showing this:
httpd: Syntax error on line 54 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /private/etc/apache2/libexec/apache2/modauthnfile.so into server: dlopen(/private/etc/apache2/libexec/apache2/modauthnfile.so, 10): image not found
    Jim-Coyles-iMac:apache2 jimcoyle$
It's seeming that there is some sort of linkage missing between /private and the Apache executables. I could use some insight into this issue too.

Thanks for your help. I'm a bit of a novice at this. Here it is:
    Jim-Coyles-iMac:apache2 jimcoyle$ ls -ale@ /private/etc/apache2/libexec/apache2/modauthnfile.so
ls: /private/etc/apache2/libexec/apache2/modauthnfile.so: No such file or directory
To me, this means one of three things: either I have the Server Root wrong in the httpd.conf, OR, there is some sort of linkage missing between /private/etc/apache2 and the location of the modules which, in fact, is in /usr/libexec/apache2.
Would you happen to know what the Server Root should be set to?

  • HP LaserJet 2100TN Errors in Leopard

Greetings! First off, I must say that after searching the forums for the past hour, I've been impressed with this community, particularly Andrew (the HP developer). Unfortunately, I didn't find an answer, thus this posting!
I upgraded to Leopard about two months ago, and I get intermittent errors. I've outlined them below. I am connect via the IP JetDirect protocol.
The error usually comes when I'm printing certain graphics-intense files (such as a Microsoft Word document with several image files embedded). Here's an example of a page issued by the printer:
    ERROR: undefinedresult
    OFFENDING COMMAND: xshow
    STACK:
    [65.2 36.2 56.0 61.0 54.0 23.0 73.2 56.0 21.0 61.0 53.1 27.9999 23.0 0.0 ]
    (!"#$%&’#($)*&&)
If I connect to my HP LaserJet 3330 (via USB), I'm able to print the same file fine!

After the most recent security upgrade, my LaserJet 2100TN ceased to function completely (Error: Printer not responding).
I had emailed HP some time ago asking if and when they were going to support the Leopard upgrade with new drivers. I got the following response, which I finally did today, and it works beautifully. It even fixed the Tray 1, 2, manual feed issue that someone mentioned above.
    "Hello ,
Thank you for contacting Hewlett-Packard's Commercial Solutions Center.
We understand that you are not able to print from OS 10.5 using your HP LaserJet 2100.
Regarding the Mac OS 10.5 when you make the upgrade or a brand new installation the Operating System should already come with the HP Drivers pre-installed and those are the ones who work with that OS. Also you can go to the Print & Fax Window and then you highlight the printer and go to options & supplies then go to drivers and from there you check what driver are you using can also select the Generic Postscript driver that should also be compatible with that printer and with your Operating System.
NOTE: Installing the Software from the HP Website might create you conflict since the drivers come already preinstalled with the OS. So we recommend doing an uninstall and then manually install them from Leopard DVD.
    Removing the .gz file:
Double-click the hard drive icon, by default labeled Macintosh HD.
    Double-click Library.
    Double-click Printers
    Double-click PPDs folder.
    Double-click Contents.
    Double-click Resources.
Scroll through the list until you find the HP Laserjet 2100 Series.gz file; single-click it and drag it to the Trash.
    Restart and empty trash
    Delete the printer
    Install HP Drivers for Leopard
Insert your Leopard installation DVD, click on the Optional Installs icon
    Then Optional Installs.mpkg
    Then Continue
    Agree to the License
Then from the Custom Install window click on the arrow next to the Printer Drivers
Then put a checkmark on the Hewlett-Packard Printer Drivers and then click on continue
Finish the installation and then restart your Mac.
    Add the printer again.
    Then try Printing.
Once again, thank you for contacting Hewlett-Packard's Commercial Solutions Center."

  • Photoshop CS2 Error after Leopard Software Update

After installing the software update to fix the Keychain and blah blah blah my PS CS2 will no longer allow me to do ANYTHING. I can open it up and run it, open a file I'm working on and if I try to do anything it gives me an error message saying: "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
Any help? I really dont want to reinstall as it's an upgrade version and I'd have to reinstall CS again.
    Thanks,
    Mike

First thing I would do is boot from the Leopard Install disk and use Disk Utility to Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions.
If that doesn't work you might try deleting the PS CS2 preferences.
Note: Adobe does not require you to re-install the previous version when installing upgrade software, you only have to enter the old serial number.
