Apache Server nec. to see & edit PHP files in DW CS3

I am trying to edit open source phpBB2 in DW CS3 .
Does the Apache local host server need to be installed for
the design view to be funtional in DW?

I've recently purchased a Macbook Pro after my PCs failed on me and also had to get a Creative Suite Web Premium. I have always used Dreamweaver to edit my php files. In Windows XP, I had to run the programme to run as an Administrator to edit php files. Now I have not a clue how to do it on Mac! Each time I tried to save a php file, a dialog box appear stating: Access to Macintosh
HD:Library:Webserver:Documents:Untitled-1.php was denied

You shouldn't have to do that on the Mac or Windows. Only thing I could find that would suggest loading files from there is a tutorial by David. And although I would normally agree with him, keeping the files in a system library folder for a testing environment is really unnecessary. I'd recommend moving them into your /Users/{username}/Sites folder. There is already a modification to the apache server to recognize that as http://localhost/~{username}. Or install something like MAMP that is in the Applications folder.

Unable to edit php files in CS3

Hi,
I have users that need to edit content in php files in Contribute CS3, just editing text and adding images etc. Every time they try to edit a page they just get a grey screen with the words 'headerMenu', which happens to be the page title of a file that is included using the php include command. They cannot edit anything on the page. I have checked the admin options and they are allowed to edit scripts etc..
Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Since you have the Acrobat Pro DC 30-day trial, please try opening that to edit your PDFs (rather than opening them in Reader, and clicking the Edit PDF button).
If you search your computer, you should have both an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and and Adobe Acrobat Pro application. They can coexist, but it does make things a little confusing.
If you want to evaluate Acrobat Pro DC, it's best that you open it directly. That way, you can get the real "lay of the land" with Acrobat before making any purchase decisions.

Best way to edit PHP files in FB4?

I'm trying out FB4 and would like to be able to use a PHP editor within the FB application. At the moment the PHP files it generates open up in Dreamweaver, which is fine but it would be better to have one tool than two. I tried to install the Eclipse PDT but I don't see any more options after I've installed it. I really would like nice coloured formatting and maybe code assist, like DW provides. Has anyone done the same? (Also interested in the same thing for FB3).

Edit PHP files without extension

Hi,
I'm currently developing a website with DW CS3 and I'm using
apache's mod_rewrite so I have clean URL's. The thing is that doing
this forces me to rename my php files e.g.
index.php to
index. Is there a way that DW recognizes these files as PHP
files, so I have nice highlighted code?

You didn't mention DW was giving you errors until after 2
people gave the
answer to the question you asked.
The fact that DW is giving you an error message when you try
to open the
file is something else entirely.
So, if that's your actual question, can you expand on "DW
keeps giving me
errors" and share what the error messages are, so we can try
and help you?

Edit .swf file in dreamweaver cs3

hi frends i am new to adobe flash. I am using dreamweaver to edit a .swf flash file.I selected the flsh in design window then selected the "edit" button.The adobe flash cs3 opened it but i want to edit this flash. Please tell me how to edit it as i am only displayed with the flash in a window. how t edit its components like adding new pics to it or making other changes to it.

A .swf file can´t be edited with e.g. Flash CS3, because this type of file is the "end product" which is generated when exporting your work from Flash (File -> Export -> Export Movie...)
What you´ll need instead is the corresponding Flash "source file", which has the file extension .fla -- and this type of file is usually editable from Dreamweaver,

Photo EXIF gone when editing LR files with Photoshop CS3

All I get is somethink like "edited in external application." How can I regain or retain original data (from Nikon D200 RAW files)?

Using LR 1.31. After editing, "Save" command used in CS3, which moves a copy back into Lightroom. (LR set up to stack CS3's edits, which possibly is relevant per Adobe KB 333740.) Files enter LR from memory card in DNG format and return from Photoshop in PSD. (Setup problem?) Using PS 10.0.

Server Behaviours not allowed in .php file?

I've only recently made the jump from 'ugh, I'm a designer I don't need to know' to 'fine, this coding lark seems to be important' so this may be an exceptionally dim question. Apologies in advance if I've overlooked something obvious
I am trying to build a very basic dynamic website, losely based on the steps outlined by David Power here http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt1.html. My own design but otherwise I'm not straying from the instructions given.
No problems developing the back end but when I came to displaying content from the database on the news page dreamweaver will not allow server behaviours to be selected (the little "+" button is greyed out in server behaviours and bindings but not for databases, if that's relevant). I haven't changed any settings or permissions and despite spending several hours poking around I don't really understand the problem enough to recognise the solution if I find it.
I am using Dreamweaver CS4 on Windows Vista
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.

So you have the back end built, I assume you mean the insert, edit and delete forms for the data?
Now you are trying to display that data on a front end page? Can you explain the steps you are taking?
A very common problem for that would be not having a server type specified in your site definitions or possibly have Dreamweaver in 'Live View' mode.

Opening PHP File in Text Edit

I was opening a .php file in Lion using Text edit instead of my usual code editor. To my amazement it tried to open the file as a rtf file.
Then it told me the file was locked and then it automatically saved it as .rtf file and ended up corrupting the file and my php wasn't even reconizable.
To replace the file I grabed a backup and replaced the .php file and know never to open any .php files in text edit again.
The problem is that I was able edit php files in text edit in Snow Leopard without an corruption.
I do this type of editing very rarely. But I point this out to show the problems that this Lion has created with the automatic revisions.
That in addition to the lost of the Save As command leaves me somewhat hindered to use text edit as the basic editor of anything.

There really is no way to "address your issue" except to suggest you use TextWrangler instead, and also complain to Apple. You can not stop auto-save nor versioning in TextEdit (nor in Preview or Pages for that matter), nor get 'Save as...' back.
That said, TextEdit should not have done anything to a php file except open it as a plain text file. The "Locked" that appears in the title bar means in order to change anything in the file you have to mouse over the "Locked" in the title bar until you see a small undistinguished triangle, and then click on the now visible disclosure triangle that has appeared and either Unlock, to change that file, or choose Duplicate to get a copy to work on. Or you can simply attempt to make a change, and you will get a drop down sheet offering those two choices. If you unlock the file "Locked" will change to Edited and the disclosure triangle will then allow you to look at your current version and the original, and you can restore the original.
I assigned php files to TextEdit to open, and I also have "Ignore rich text commands in HTML files" checked in TE prefs, Open and Save section, and the default format is Plain Text.

error that says either:
1. .php file extensions are not being executed by the test
server (I can view a php file in my browser so it is working)
2. The C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs\ folder
does not map to the
http://localhost/Program
Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/ URL on the testing server.
The odd thing is I can see the datetest.php file in my site
in Dreamweaver (it's there along with other php files like
test.php). I saved it specifically to C:/Program Files/Apache
Group/Apache2/htdocs/) but when I drill down to the folder in
Explorer (I'm using Vista Home Premium) the file is not viewable,
nowhere to be seen, so I think that's the problem. It can be seen
in DW but not in the Vista folder itself.

Newbie help with editing files in DW CS3

I am new to using Dreamweaver, and I am having trouble with
trying to edit existing files using DW CS3. When I open an existing
file on my local site, DW converts some of the code using &.
This is a problem because I need to edit the file just as it was
originally written, so I can save it after editing and upload to my
website.
In my Preferences, I have Code Rewriting set to:
-Rewrite Code: Fix invalidly nexted and unclosed tags
[Unchecked]
-Rewrite Code: Rename form items when posting [Checked]
-Rewrite Code: Remove extra closing tags [Unchecked]
-Never rewrite code: In files with extensions .as .asr .asc

Today, I opened a file with an .xml extension, and DW rewrote
the special characters > and '. Since I have in my preferences
to Never rewrite code in .xml, I don't understand why DW is
rewriting the code. Also, in my preferences I have unchecked the
Special Characters, so why is DW still rewriting the code?
Do I have some of the Code Rewriting preferences set wrong?
Is there another place I need to tell DW not to rewrite
existing code?

It imported both, but only shows you the raw file. Ever. What you see and what you edit will only be the raw file. The associated JPG file will follow the raw file around if you move it or rename it using Lightroom, but other than that, Lightroom will ignore it. You could safely delete the JPG, and Lightroom wouldn't complain--probably wouldn't even notice.
There's a preference you can set that will cause JPGs to be imported as separate images. Then you'd be able to see both of them and edit them separately. That preference won't take effect on images that are already in the catalogue, but will affect all future imports.

How did I receive a letter starting with "Dear (my name)" in a .php file? And how do I read the rest of the letter

I was scrolling through the internet when my mac started to download a .php file. I tried to open it with TextEdit but it shows nothing and says "ad.php - Locked".
I can see that in the downloads icon in the dock that it begins with Dear Kevin, which is my name so I would like help reading it in case it is important

Just as an fyi. a PHP file is a sever based file. You should never see a php file because the web server should automatically convert the information into html coding. That is the whole point of a php code. Unless you are a web developer with access to the hosting server, you should never see the php files. Php files are just one of the many type of sever based codes that can be used to create dynamic web sites that can change based on certain conditions. The fact that you downloaded a php file tells me that either the php sever on the site was broken or more likely the ad.php code that you downloaded was not properly coded.
As leroydouglas said you can use a text editor such as TextWrangler or text pad to view to the file but what you should see would be a bunch of text surrounded with a less than symbol (<) followed by ?php and ending with ? and the greater than symbol (>). The code can not run on a non-server system such as a desktop or laptop. Seeing how it says ad.php its probably just a piece of code that was meant to display on ad on whatever site you were visiting.

Editing PHP in Dreamweaver

Hi although I not new to Dreamweaver I am new to PHP files. How do you edit PHP files within Dreamweaver. For example, in an existing PHP file where I want to insert a picture/graphic it puts it elsewhere and then I have to move it?

You can try to click on the "live data view" icon on the top
bar of page window.
But I don't think you can *change* live data view in design
view, i.e. drag the edge of a PHP
generated div to make it wider. You'll need to edit PHP in
the code.

Editing powerpoint files in sharepoint

Hi,
One of my clients is having issues editing powerpoint files in sharepoint 2013 (Office 365 hosted).
He gets the following error when clicks edit and then clicks check out.
"We're having trouble connecting to the server. If this keeps happening, contact your help desk."
I have managed to work a fix for him by getting him to click the ... to the right of the document and then clicking check out and then opening the file again to edit it. However this is a sudden change to his process and an extra few steps he does not want
to keep having to do.
He is currently not the only user in the organisation to having this problem either.
I have tried trawling through many instances of people having this error but it mainly seems to be in the links to the files which does not seem to be the case here as I have checked that problem. There must be some other underlying issue that due to my
lack of experience with SharePoint 2013 (Office 365 hosted) I just am unable to discover.

How do i edit a V21O file in premiere cs3?

hello. i really need some help! been searching on the net but to no avail.
I have been sent a couple of dvds from a company with V210 files on them. they are pretty big vido files, around 6gb
i need to edit the files in premiere cs3.
i have tried opening them up into premiere but it just play the audio, the video is just a white screen
i have also tried converting the file to avi with file conversion software but no luck, opening it up in Aftereffect also, but still just the white video
i really don't know what to do, i have a deadline for tomorrow. can anyone help please???
