Good idea to check the http welcome page!
Have you tried stopping (just to be safe) and starting the http server?

  • My ipod classic suddenly stopped responding

Ipod Classic about 5 years old.  ipod stopped responding suddenly: screen window is unchanged and shows the display of audiobook page I was listening to.  There is absolutely no response to any key I press.  I can't even turn it off.  Should try synching it as a diagnostic?  What else???

  • IPod click wheel suddenly stopped responding. Cant click anything.

My iPod recently developed a clicking problem. It first started out days ago that I had to click stuff twice, or hard, for it to respond, but last night, it just stopped responding completely. The scroll still works, I can scroll up and down, but i can't click anything, not the menu button, or the play, or the middle button. Does any one have an idea of what could have caused this??? Is it a hardware or software thing?! Help!

My boss just brought me his iPod and he is having a similar problem, however I cannot fix it so easily.
He has an iPod classic, 160 GB. The scroll wheel works most of the time. Sometimes it's need some love to cooperate, but nothing that is supposed to click works. It makes the clicking noise, but does not do anything. I have tried over and over to reset it in hopes of fixing it, but the center button seems to have stopped working as well.
I've looked all over the site to try and find someone to call to see if we can send it in to get fixed. My boss has not had this iPod very long. I can't seem to find anything helpful.
    Any suggestions?

  • Direct black arrow (select tool) suddenly stopped responding

I have been using cs3 for years and all of a sudden the direct selection arrow stopped working. When I click on it in  the toolbox nothing happens, the icon does not change and I cannot select an object. I read that the solution might be to reset preferences  with shift/control alt. When I do that absolutely nothing changes. I am experiencing this problem whether it is a new document or an existing file. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and updating. Everything is still working as it should on my laptop which is also running on windows 7.

    sugene yoo,
    >but it suddenly not working. Did I press wrong key by accident or something?
Actually, assuming the Selection Tool now selects, it started working, so you must have pressed the right key or something.

  • Keyboard, trackpad & external harddrive suddenly stopped responding but external mouse will work?

I have a 2007 MacBook, but the harddrive was replace begining on 2011. Ealier today mid-email my keyboard suddenly froze and my cursor dissappeared. The power button still worked so I was able to turn off my computer. When I restarted I had about 3 hours of normal functioning before the same thing happened again. The entire keyboard becomes unresponsive (including the caps lock light that does not light up) and the mouse is no longer visible. I tried connecting an external mouse and this seems to work fine, but I still can't type anything in.
I connected my external harddrive to copy over all my files (incase this was the begining of the end). About two minutes in the light started blinking on the harddrive and i was given the message from the computer saying the harddrive was unplugged... which it was not!
I have restarted the computer a few times, the keyboard and trackpad never come back on, the computer can no longer recongnize any external harddrive or thumbdrive but works fine with the external mouse.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Thank you! I really appreciate your time and any advice you may have.

Make sure it's not something as simple as the battery bulging up and exerting upward pressure on the trackpad, keyboard, and USB / FW ports.
That's what happened to my Macbook and it showed similar symptoms.
I simply took out the battery and let the MacBook rest for a 48 hours.  Then I ran it strictly on the power supply and it ran fine.
At that point I bought a replacement generic battery through Amazon for about $40 including shipping and taxes.  I figured why waste money on the Apple original part if it was that very Apple original battery that went bad and bulged up like a toad?
MacBook has been running just fine for months now, maybe a year.

  • My keyboard suddenly stopped responding? I can still click, but I can't scroll or type with any of the keys

Like it says, I was typing my homework and it just stopped working. Everything else is fine. I can still use the trackpad to move the cursor and click, but I can not scroll or zoom in. I'm mainly concerned about my keyboard though, anything I can do?

  • Firefox suddenly stopped responding. I couldn't close Firefox, then restarted my computer. When I did, Firefox constantly gives "Not Responding"; will not start. I tried reinstall, and am getting a stalled installation. What can I do?

    OS: Windows XP
Numerous crashes out of Firefox in recent uses, before this latest catastrophic crash.
    Installation is also stalled.
I cannot open any Firefox window and have it find the internet now, so am stuck using Internet Explorer to log in here.
Past crashes have been about once every 18 hours, not including some crashes of Flash roughly every 3-5 days.
Should add that I couldn't kill any Firefox process using the Windows Task Manager, which is a first. And, (re-)install hung for more than an hour now, not proceeding.
Norton scan showing no viruses, and it has the latest definitions. This seems confined to a problem in Firefox.
Trying again to install and get this running, trying to open Firefox again fails, using what I presume was the latest previous install. I can't re-install still.
I did briefly see a program called SysFader trying to run when I was opening the Firefox window (unsuccessfully), but just did a search in my hard drive for a file or folder named SysFader and there are no matches. I don't know if they are related.
Nearly a day later and no apparent progress.

Had been printing a series of letters when pop-up stated printer was low on color.
I replaced the color cartridge and printer hasn't worked since.

Can you provide some additional details?
    - When you say the printer hasn't worked since, what does the printer do?  Do you get lights coming on, on the printer?  Do you get an error message?
    - Was it a new HP cartridge or a refill?

  • Magic trackpad stops responding on wakeup after upgrade to Mavericks

I have a 27" iMac purchased in July 2011.  I never had any issues with the trackpad before upgrading to Mavericks.  I upgraded a few months ago and started having sporadic issues with the trackpad.  When the iMac woke up, everything seemed fine at first.  About once or twice a week, after it had been working for about a minute (just enough time to start web browsing), the trackpad would suddenly stop responding.  It then progressed to being more consistent (every other day).  The cursor was still visible and the keyboard still worked.  The trackpad was still on but apparently not connected.  I thought it was the batteries, but new batteries didn't help.  I could get the trackpad to work again by using Spotlight to open the Bluetooth System Preferences.  The trackpad worked immediately when Bluetooth preferences were opened (nothing needed to be changed; it would just start working).  However, it would stop responding after about ten minutes.  It was interesting because even if I left the Bluetooth System Preferences open, it would still stop responding after about ten minutes.  I could use the keyboard to make the preferences window active and it would immediately work again.  It would then work again for a few minutes and then stop.  I found that removing the trackpad and re-connecting it would cause the trackpad to start working again more consistently.  It would only stop if the iMac went back to sleep for an extended period (overnight).
For anyone else with this problem, helpful keyboard shortcuts are cmd + spacebar to open Spotlight, type bluetooth, use the arrow keys to go to Bluetooth system preferences (hit enter), use the arrow keys to go down to the trackpad, press spacebar to unconnect, again to confirm, and then after the trackpad is automatically rediscovered, press spacebar again to pair it.
This went on for about a month, when I had what I suspect was an unrelated problem.  The trackpad started acting as if it was being held down (left click was always being pressed).  I took it into the Apple Store and they confirmed it was broken.  I was a little disappointed since it had basically expired about a week after my AppleCare expired, but luckily the folks at Apple took care of me.  (Thanks Apple!).  At that point I had a brand new trackpad.
The issue had gone back to happening every other week or so.  I thought it might be interference, but I've since physically moved apartments and all the objects around it. It's been a couple months now and it's back to happening every couple of days or so.  Since the trackpad is brand new, I have to think this is a software issue.  I've noticed the following consistently:
    1) It only stops responding if I've put it to sleep (I usually do so with a hot corner, but I don't have any reason to believe that's related) and haven't used the computer for more than 12 hours.
    2) It'll always work right when it wakes up.  It'll stop fairly consistently 1 - 2 minutes after waking up.
    3) Time Machine seems to be busy doing something when the trackpad stops (the little icon is spinning in a circle if I have a Finder window open).  Uncertain if it's always doing something or if it's coincidence that I've noticed it more recently.
    4) As mentioned above, opening the Bluetooth System Preferences will always get the trackpad to respond, but then it'll stop after a few minutes.  Unpairing and reestablishing the pairing will fix the issue for awhile (at the very least until the next time the iMac sleeps).
    5) I may be imagining this, but before upgrading to Mavericks, I think it used to show the message that the trackpad was connected when the iMac woke up.  I no longer see that message unless I remove the connection and setup the pairing again.
I've seen lots of people with various issues with Bluetooth connectivity and Mavericks.  I'm on 10.9.4.  No one seems to have exactly this issue.  If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Just got an iPad mini and now the screen suddenly stopped working. What to do?

Got my iPad mini as a gift last week and last night the screen suddenly stopped responding [while in use]... until now. Read and tried the troubleshooting tips here and other sources (resetting, cleaning the screen, restoring from back up, etc) but nothing seemed to work. It's currently running on iOS 6.1.3 syncs with iTunes and doesn't seem to have any problem as viewed on iTunes, wasn't dropped, abused or anything. Using warranty and having it replaced will be my last resort since I'm kinda embarrassed telling the person who gave it to me that it's broken or damaged.
    Please do help. Huge thanks!

  • Keyboard suddenly stopped working

The keyboard and trackpad suddenly stopped responding on my Macbook Pro 13" (Fall 2011) when I was doing regular work. When I rebooted the computer it says it cannot find any keyboard. Any suggestions?
I'm sorry I don't have much more to add.
edit: Now it's working again, just out of the blue! Doesn't feel too good though.

Try resetting the PRAM and the SMC - often fixes odd faults like this.

  • New to ipad2. iTunes has stopped responding to touch

I was looking to see how to download a movie, and iTunes suddenly stopped responding. I can use all other apps by touch, and it didn't resolve when I connected the iPad to my computer and synced it. I can use iTunes fine on the laptop, just is frozen on my iPad itself. How do I fix this?

  • Imovie stopped responding?

Hi, can somebody help? I've been using imovie for a while with no issue, then today it suddenly stopped responding, and the small coloured circle keeps spinning. I have 'force quit' several times plus rebooted my mac but it still wont work. Any ideas ? Thanks

    No
I mean trash the iMovie pref file - in the Library IN YOUR ACCOUNT folder - not the one on Your Mac hard disk first window.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by
    • Creating a New User Account - Apple menu / Down to System prefs / Accounts - Plus sign
    • log out and into this new one
Does iMovie work OK now - then the problem most probably is the pref file.
    • Delete iMovie pref. file
    iMovie pref. file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    com.apple.iMovie9.plist
    com.apple.iMovieApp.plist
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
If You run Mac OS X.7 or more - then the Library in the User-account folder is invisibly and need to be set to be viewable. IT IS NOT in the Library on Root level (when opening MacintoshHD - first window = root level)
( It can be done like this: Open Terminal, then enter: chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press return, then restart, and it will always be visible until the next major update, when you do the same thing again. )
    or - do like this.
On the Finder window at the top left of the screen,
Hold down the Option key and clicked on Go.
This allowed You to see the Library folder and select it.
Then keep the Option button pressed down in order to see and select the Library folder.
Once found it, You are able to navigate to the iMovie preferences file and move it to the trash.  iMovie then start’s up fine!
