APD : Scheduling

Dear all,
I am using APD to push data from Query to ODS. My structure is
Query -
Filter -
ODS . I want to schedule this transfer of data from the query to ODS at the end of every month? How do I schedule this transfer in APD? Or is there any other way of doing it?

Hi,
You can do it as mentioned by the Bhanu.
these settings are visible in RSANWB only and you will have to check if you have authorizations for that.
and you can schedule it in the same way as you schedule the infopackge by giving the option periodic and a particular time like monthly or weekly as the data load sceduling there is no difference with that.
just right click on the settings and say schedule and then you will get options there.

I don't know what you mean when you say " ....needs to be run with the specific APD", but you can use the program to execute your APD in process chain by creating a variant, if you want to manually schedule, you can do so as well, rsanbw-> display the APD and schedule Icon on the top menu bar, that will give you scheduling options.

Analysis Process Designer (APD) and EMail

Hi,
Following due to data discrepancy in PO value,We developed a re conciliation report based on direct cube,The re conciliation report displays PO No,Po Value in BW and PO Value from ECC and a Difference column.
My requirement is to develop a APD which executes this re conciliation report ,Based on the report tout i want to send 2 emails
Email 1: With the list of PO Numbers where data discrepancy is <= $5 and
Email 2: With the List of PO Numbers where data discrepancy is > 5
How can i achieve this requirement.

Why do you want to create APD. You can create two reports and then schedule them for broadcast daily.
1st report having list of PO Numbers where data discrepancy is <= $5
2nd report having list of PO Numbers where data discrepancy is > $5
These both wold be identical reports just with the change in conditon.You can then use the broadcasting feature to distribute these reports to end user.It would save your time in unnecessary creating the APD.
You can also schedule the broadcst via PC if you want to send this information daily once the delta loads are finished.
Is there any specific reason you want to use APD ( for some calculation purpose) ?

Scheduling error in ppds

Hi,
I got this error "No gap for activity ||| found within the planning horizon" during production planning run.
Diagnosis
There is not a large enough gap for the activity ||| on the mode
1- in the planning period specified in the time profile.
System Response
The system does not schedule or reschedule.
What could be the reason for this error ? Kindly help.
I am struck with this. i am not getting this error if i create any order manually in product view. but when i run planning for a particular sale order in variable heuristic i am getting this error. any idea pls help

Dear all,
I had posted the querry to sap. below is what they are saying*.
I had a look at system APD and started heuristic SAP_PP_002 for one
of the customer segments. As expected the following happened:
1. As the 'planning direction' in the strategy settings of the heuristic is set to 'Backwards + Revers' and the planned order availability
date should be today (due to the early requirement date) strategy 1
(backwards scheduling) can't be successful and thus leads to an error /SAPAPO/DM_SCHEDFAIL044
2. Strategy 2 ('revers', i.e. forward scheduling) is successful then and creates a planned order that starts today and ends in the future.
Both steps & messages are displayed in the scheduling log of the
heuristic. Both messages are abolutely correct and are created as
expected.
All created orders are overlapping. This is correct, as they are
scheduled infinitely according to the heuristic settings.
In order to do a finite scheduling of the created orders a suitable DS
heuristic should be carried out as a subsequent step after the PP
heuristic run (as recommended by SAP).
So altogether your system works absolutely correct and there is no
indication for a software error.
SO FRIENDS,
DOES HE MEAN THAT I SHUD NOT RUN VARIABLE HEURISTIC AT ALL. HE MEANS TO SAY THAT I HAVE TO RUN PLANNING IN PLANNING RUN.

APD Execution in SAP BI 7.0

Hi Experts,
We have recreated the APD from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0 manually .
The source of the APD is Query & target is DSO. In BW 3.5 , the APD is executing fine. Whereas in BI 7.0, the APD is not executing and leading to timeout error.
We scheduled the APD in BGD process and the process is going on ON HOLD and after an hour the execution is failing.
We created variant with few plant & year selections which has less data for the query, even then the APD is not executing.
Further to just check the APD execution, i used Flat file as the target and executed in foreground, but same error.
Can anyone tell me what all the system requirements needed for successful execution of APD's and the criteria's to be checked at the system level?

Query Output to download in flat file through APD or other means?

Hello Experts,
I am currently on BW3.5 system and have requirement to load query output in flat file in .csv format. I checked the option of APD but looks like we cant directly load the query output in flat file like in APD (BW 3.5 system) .
One way i can think of it...load the query output in transactional ODS and built an infospoke on it to write into flat file.
Please advice if there are any better methods to store the query output in flat files.

I've got the same problem: I want to trigger an analysis process through a process chain. Thanks to this posting and help.sap.com I've added the ABAP programm RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE to the process chain and created a program variant for the analysis process to be called. When I 'activate and schedule' the process chain I can only see the job 'BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER' in sm37. The APD won't start...
What am I missing in my process chain?

RFC to XI scheduling problem

Hello,
I send delivery from R\3 to FTP.
In the R\3 system the deliveries number create consequential,
Delivery number 1003 came before delivery number 1004 and so on (not always serial, for example 998, 1003, 1004, 1017 and so on)
To XI system the deliveries came in the wrong order (for example 1017, 1003, 1004, 998 and so on).
Do you have any idea about this problem?

Or you can have ABAP porxy to handle ..

APD query key date with variable for time dependent MD display attributes

Hello,
In a APD I use a query as a source with a query key date that is filled with a customer exit variable.
When I run the query as a user, the time dependent MD display attributes look fine. However, when I use the query in an APD, I get no values for the time dependent display attributes.
Any suggestions?

Schduling is ok but where you want to send that Report?.If you are not sending report data then there is no use of Atomated Process.
Normally If query is having variables it is difficult to handle automation.

1. BI Report to Otherparty System through APD.
Ex : Through APD Process first you can dump the data into Application server.From there user can access the file.This APD process you can maintain in Proces chain and you can shedule the time also.

APD creates CSV file as soon as it is executed altough the CSV is last step

Hi,
I have an APD with three steps:
1. read a query
2. remove records with figures = 0
3. generate a CSV file
As soon as the APD is executed the CSV file is generated. However it needs 5 minutes at least to really execute the query (step1 & 2) and fill in the file. The 'Open dataset' statement seems to be executed to soon in the APD execution.
It bothers me as APD is scheduled based on an event. Another Abap program is also scheduled on the same event. This Abap checks regularly the delivery of the file in order to process it. So this Abap runs also too soon and does not process anything as the file is empty...

At the time of saving file it will ask file path where to save in work directory , just copy that path & search in AL11 .
Before that make sure :
1. in Data target Tab write data to app server must be selected & in Write mode : check once either creatre file again if already overwrite.

Scheduling Variants

Dear All,
I made a variant in RSRT transaction code for a query and then used that query in APD and transfered that data into ODS. Now I want to schedule this activity every month . but the variant which is calday should change to the last day of the current month. Is there any way where the variant changes periodically?

Yes you can do that .. i even suggest to modify your select statements to reduce the processing time .

APD : Variant Creation

Dear All,
I am using APD. I am pushing data from a Query to ODS.
Query----Filter----ODS . this is my structure.
The query has 0calday input at selection screen. But in APD how can I incorporate this. If I go to Query properties in APD I get an option "Variant" but how do I create a variant for my query in APD? And this query has to be scheduled at the end of every month. So I require a variant that changes every month....

APD does not suuport selection screen variables and hence variants ...
You need to handle this in Routine ...
e.g. you can write a routine to get a database table for which you want to execute it !!! you need to maintain this DB table with appropriate values every month ...

Change a query variant using a program for APD

Hello everyone,
Some background:
We have a complex reporting based on calculated key figures (CKF). However, the business rules do change over time, and the formulas for CKF get outdated. So the business meaning of CKF remains the same, but the way it gets calculated - changes.
Yesterday CKF "A" = B + C
Today CKF "A" = B + D - F
Since the customer requires reporting for the former periods, maintaining several CKF of the same business meaning but calculated differently for each period becomes a problem.
Instead of having several versions of CKF "A", we decided to use APD, to periodically run the query with valid CKF, save the query results to transactional ods, then move it to another infocube. Now we will have the infocube with figures and dates, and the customer needs to maintain just one CKF "A".
After trying this out we've encountered following issue:
Since the query will run periodically we must use a time period filter (in fact - variable on a time characteristic - APD is not working with filter) to select CKF valid for this month for example.
The query in APD can work with variables only via query variants.
Now, the question is how to change the query variant automatically?
We can not force the customer to create new query variants each month for dozens of reports.
We plan to integrate APD in the process chain (although we haven't check how it works), where the query variant will be changed using a program.
so please advice:
1) is there any function module to change query variants in the background
2) which tables contain the query variant, so we can change it using abap
3) may be you can suggest other options to make it work

This code will always maintain the entry for the variable 'ZDATE_INV' as range from the start of month till current month.
you can modify it store anything yuou want.
Now when creating the variant by clicking the create variant option when running the query.
you have the option in the "selection variable" column here you will find only TVARVC table as option select it and then in "name of variable" use the Z variable you have just created.
This will automatically pick the current value for the variant for that variable.
So anytime the variant is used in any of the scheduling it will pick the inout from here.
make sure that the variable for time interval is of same type as that of the entry in the TVARVC table.
That if it is of type calmonth then TVARVC table should have variable entry of type calmonth.

APD Date Format issue

Hi,
   I had a APD based on a query.The query had 0CALDAY and 0CALYEAR/MONTH.
   When i execute the query the date is displayed as DD.MM.YYYY and MM.YYYY
   When i Schedule APD the output data date is being displayed as YYYYMMDD and YYYYMM.
How can i change that APD output date will be displayed as same as query
