Aperature Doesn't Recognize Camera

This is really weird. I have used aperture for a while now. I have a canon 10d and it has worked seamlessly with Aperture. But today I went to import and noticed that none of the previews showed up when my camera was connected. So i decided to disconnect and try again. I unplugged my camera and noticed that my camera was still in the import tab. So I guit the program and reopened. When i opened the import tab again, my camera was still listed. Even though it was unplugged!! I have tried all 3 of the Aperture First Aid things. I also removed the prefrences with no luck. This so weird. HELP!!!

Try trashing image capture prefs, and restart your machine. Also, make sure your RAW+JPEG option is set correctly in the Aperture import screen. If you're importing jpegs and you have it set to RAW, the images won't show in the preview.

My MacBook Pro doesn't recognize the built-in camera for a lot of my applications, including Image Capture. It doesn't show up anywhere in my system preferences. Any idea why this is so?

    (1)  Mac's built-in camera does not work with Image Capture.
Image Capture works with external devices like scanners, some iOS devices, some cameras and RAM cards, etc.  Click this link for more info about Image capture and some of the apps that can work with your inbuilt camera.

  • IMovie doesn't recognize camera when external hd is connected

I can't import a movie from my camera into iMovie6 when a external hd is connected. That is,a 400gb LaCie tripple interface or a freecom classic sl hard drive400gb.
When a LaCie Mini 80gb is connected there is no problem.
When one of the above is connected with firewire iM doesn't recognize the camera at all.
When connected with usb2 it does see the camera, but only imports for about two seconds and that quits.
    Any suggestions?
    Jacqo

    Thanks Karsten.
Yes, my camera is a Canon, but not one of the models mentioned in that tech note.
    I've solved it now.
Reading your reply gave me a bright idea.
If that is true why can I import with the smaller LaCie hd connected?
Look at the type of firewire cable Jacqo.
Yes,that is a different type of cable;connected the 400g with the cable that came with the 80g hd and eureka,it works.
So it was just a matter of the right type of firewire cable.
Why didn't I think of that earlier.
    Again ,Thanks Karsten.

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize camera raw plugin on yosemite

    Hi there,
I've been using Photoshop CS4 with the camera raw plugin for many years without issue. I recently got a new computer with Yosemite and when I installed PsCS4 it no longer worked with RAW files (5D mkii). I just tried downloading the newest version of the camera raw plugin, but Photoshop doesn't seem to recognize it. What can I do?

The “latest version of camera raw” would be ACR 8.7.1 and that is only compatible with PS-CS6 or newer.
PS-CS4 would probably install with ACR 5.0 but the 5D Mark II needs at least ACR 5.2.  The latest version of ACR you can install for PS-CS4 is ACR 5.7 which may be what you had on your old computer.
The usual way to update your Camera Raw plug-in would be to do PS / Help / Updates and let it check to see what is available, so try that.
I am not sure if that process still works, but you’re in luck because Adobe was still putting links to their installers on the website back in the CS4 era, so you should be able to download an installer and run it to get ACR 5.7 installed, from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106 <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh> &platform=Macintosh
It’s possible that something in the newest OS will prevent this installer from working, of course, but at least try.
You can check what version of the ACR plug-in you have installed by doing PS / About Plug-in / Camera Raw

  • IPhoto 09 doesn't recognize camera

I just upgraded from my old G4 PowerBook (with iLife 08) to a new MacBook Pro (with iLife 09). I have two cameras, a Nikon D60 and a Casio Exilim Z850. The new MacBook Pro and iPhoto 09 have no problem recognizing the D60... however, the Casio isn't recognized by the new computer/software; all I get is the infinite spinning beachball. My old G4 PowerBook / iPhoto 08 still recognizes the Casio just fine... however, I'm not planning on keeping the G4 PowerBook for much longer; the MacBook Pro was intended to be a replacement. Now I'm just trying to figure out if there's any way to get the new computer to communicate with the Casio. Granted, the D60 is a much nicer camera... but sometimes all you need is a good point-and-shoot that fits easily in your pocket, so I'd like to be able to keep the Z850 if I can find a way to get the new computer to recognize it. Any thoughts?

Try use a USB Card reader and see if the Mac will read the Casio’s card. If it does, then the issue may be with the Camera’s USB port. IF it doesn’t then the card may need to be reformatted.
Other reasons to use a Card Reader:
Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.
Because it saves the battery on your camera
Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports
    Because it’s almost always faster.

Hi, closereaching. Instead of spending 12 hours reinstalling your operating system and getting everything back up to date again, which probably won't accomplish anything, why not buy a $10 USB card reader for your Casio's SD card? Or (more expensive, but a much more elegant solution), an ExpressCard SD card reader that can stay in your computer all the time?

  • IMovie '08 doesn't recognize camera

I have a Jazz HD178 video camera. I use it for air-to-ground video from my RC model airplanes. The Jazz file formats are JPEG/AVI(H264)/WAV/MP3. iMovie '08 does not recognize the camera.
1.Is there any way I can adjust settings so iMovie '08 will recognize the camera?
    2. What Apple format will give me an iMovie resolution of 1280x720 and a 16:9 aspect ratio?
I have downloaded a number of converters but only Apple TV seems to have the resolution but not the aspect ratio I'm looking for. Everything seems to be for iPod or iPhone.

  • After upgrade to 10.5, computer doesn't recognize camera when attached

I recently upgraded from OSX 10.3 to 10.5 and ran Software Update. I don't know for sure if it's related, of course, but now nothing happens when I connect my camera to the computer; it used to automatically open iPhoto and go to the import window. Now nothing, not even the clicking in the hard drive when I make the connection. I've checked the USB cable to make sure it's securely in place at both the computer and the camera, and made sure the camera is in the correct mode. I've also tried your troubleshooting basics (Repair Permissions, deleting the plist file, and creating a new system account) none of which worked. I'm ready to try a reinstallation of iPhoto. Is that what you suggest? If so, do I need to uninstall anything before running another installation? And do I run it from the iLife disk? Do I do a custom install of iPhoto only? Or do I run it from either my original system disks that came with the computer or from my new Leopard disk?
Also--I know this is perhaps off topic, but I mention it in case it might be a related problem. Since installing Leopard, my keyboard button that normally opens and closes the disk drawer does not work at all. I'm having to open it by restarting and holding down the mouse button.
Thanks for your time. Sorry if too many questions.

I don't think 10.5 will install on your machine. Check if you have enough MGHz or RAM or some of that stuff smarter people than I talk about.
I have had to stop with 10.3.9 on the iMac. Please let me know if you can install 10.5

  • Mac doesn't recognize camera

My canon t3i STILL will not connect to my Mac running OS X 10.9

    Hi kgleiss!
    Thanks for posting.
Have you updated the Canon software since you upgraded to the new version of the Mac OS?  If not, I recommend that you download the updates for EOS Utility and Digital Photo Professional from our website.  Please refer to the link below:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_re...
At this time, updates to our software have not been specifically released for OS 10.9, but we have found that the versions we have now work quite well in most cases.  When you get to the download page, select OS 10.8 as your operating system so the download links will appear.
If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.

I have Lightroom 4 and a new 70D camera and when I try to important my photos Lightroom says it doesn't recognize my CR2 files.  Can someone help?  I have downloaded 8.3 from Adobe, but still doesn't work?

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. All of the Camera Raw technology is part of the Lightroom program. You will either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies that can be used with Lightroom 4.

  • I have a Mac Mini, and it won't accept connecting my Sony video camera.  So I got a SD mem card reader to unload my movies from.  It worked the first time I used it a few months ago.  This time it says it doesn't recognize the format I am trying to use?

I have all thenecessary updates.  I have switched over from a PC to Mac back in April and have nad nothing but problems adapting.  I don't know why this worked the first time, and put my videos inti imovie, and now it doesn't recognize it at all.  And the Mem card reader does work, because I just put the SD card from my regular camera into it and it downloaded those fine, it just won't take my movies!

Which sony camera? I have a Sony HDR-CX550 right now and have been able to use the SD card as well as connect the camera directly. I also had CX110 that work too. You may want to try to copy the complete top level folder from the SD card to the Hard drive, then try to "import from Camera archive" and select that folder.

  • I can't connect my camera to my Mac tower - final cut doesn't recognize the connection.

I have a Canon AH X1 video camera which uses the older 6 pin firewire - I have a 6 pin to 9 pin adapter, but when I connect the camera and go to Capture and Log, it doesn't recognize the camera is connected.  Even when I click NOW, it does nothing.  My camera output settings have been set by the manual for this type of connection, HD and downgrade OFF, or something like that (don't have the camera in front of me this moment).  Any ideas?
    Thank you!

    Thanks for the quick response!  I have a smokin' Mac Tower - 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core, 10GB RAM, Mac OS 10.6.7.
I am running 6 pin firewire using a 9 pin adapter.  I have one internal hard drive - 999GB, formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - 914G are free.
Camera Settings - Playback STD - Comp out 1080i/480i
    HD Down Conversion - OFF
When I start up Final Cut Pro, it says
External A/V Unable to locate the following external devices:
    Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480)
Your system configuration may have changed, or your deck/camera may be disconnected or turned off.
Please check your connections and click "Check Again" , or click "Continue" to set external device detection to None.
Then, when I go to Log and Capture, I get:
Unable to initialize video deck.  You may still log offline clips or use Capture Now.
Beneath that, "Initializing Device Control..." stays up and frozen.
THEN, if I click OK and Capture NOW, I get a quick flash of a screen that disappears, and nothing happens.
    Thanks in advance...

  • IMovie 8.0.6 doesn't recognize my iSight camera.

    I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.5;
iMovie 8.0.6 doesn't recognize my iSight camera.  The iSight camera works on Skype, Photo Booth and FaceTime.  I hadn't used iMovie in almost a year, however, the last time it recognized the iSight camera without a problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    rudsmac4me,
The article linked below details a potential solution that may help get iMovie to recognize your iSight camera.
In iMovie 7.1.2 or later, you may not be able to use your built-in iSight camera to capture footage in iMovie. iMovie may not recognize the camera. This may occur even if you are able to activate the camera in other applications, such as iChat.
