Aperture 2.0 second display color problem ... possible bug

Hi, I am running a Macbook pro 2.4 with a Formac 2010 as the second monitor.
Both monitors are calibrated with an Eyeone display and coloreyes software.
Since installing the aperture 2.0 trial my Formac monitors colors are off.
Colors on the Macbook pro are perfect, but the Formac has to much red in it (peoples faces have a yellow orange tint and reds and oranges are over-saturated)
I have tried re-calibrating 8 times, with various settings (standard is d65, gamma 2.2, 120 luminence on both monitors, with no joy.
I did not have this problem with Aperture 1.5.6, colors were a perfect match.
I have tied reinstalling Aperture 2.0, deleting all preferences and starting again ... still no luck.
If i export an image to Photoshop, the colors match the macbook pro screens perfectly (when viewed on the Formac display)
I can even drag the exported image in photoshop to the second screen in Aperture and view them one over the other. Result ... the photoshop image looks fine but the Aperture image is over saturated...and that's on the same monitor at the same time.
Next i reverted back to Aperture 1.5.6.. guess what, all colors match on both screens.
I can only think that there is a bug in aperture 2.0, what else can it be?
Can anyone help me out, i am loving 2.0 but if i cannot view the colors correctly then it is no good to me.
Thanks
Mike

Just to clarify, the colors on my macbook pro are perfect, it is the
formac second monitor that has the color shift problem.
I understand the colours look bad on your Formac
Aperture 2.0 is not recognizing the second monitors color profile
So what profile do you suspect it is using?
As this is the monitor i mostly work on (better gamutt etc) it is a
problem.
My workaround is to shut the laptop lid and work solely from the
formac monitor.
My guess is its using the MBPs profile for both the MBP and the Formac which is why it looks bad. So if you load the Formac profile to the MBP, maybe it will use the Formac profile for both the MBP and the Formac. Yes, the MBP will get bad colour, but the Formac may get it's good colour back. Then at least you could navigate on the MBP screen and edit on the Formac screen, rather than having to close the MBP screen. I'm not saying it will work, but I would give it a try as a work around.

Genius .... spot on Najinsky
Did as you suggested and it worked.
Formac monitor is definitely using the macbook pro profile.
Exported an image to cs3, then dragged it back over the fullscreen aperture version and hey presto.... exact color match.
So many thanks for your help
Now, why am i the only one to notice this, all i need is a few more bods to have the same issue and then i can sit back and wait for apple to sort it.
If i am the only person with this problem, then what is wrong.
I just ran diskwarrior in a last ditch attempt to see if i have something amiss on my system.. still no luck.
Come on people, how are you getting on with your second monitors?
Could it be to do with the pro app updates?
Any ideas on my next move.
Heres hoping

  • Copy and paste adjustment  problem/ possible bug.

    Hi all
I have just encountered a very strange problem/ possible bug.
I have been working on a file in photoshop cs5 that had come from lightroom 5.3. This was then saved (automaticaly becomes tiff file in Lightroom). I then wanted to make some more adjustments to it in lightroom (using local adjustment clarity). I then tried to copy the settings of the adjustment brush  from the tiff to the original raw file. This is where it gets very strange. The adjustments are copied but they are rotated ccw by 90 degrees!  I can replicate this every time.
Could someone else try to see if this problem exists on their catalogs or if its a corrpution problem my end.

    Noted on the bug, thanks.

  • Display color problem - asking for a color solution

So I have this serious problem with my Macbook Pro.
Some months ago I suddenly saw green colors in black area's and pink line colors in white areas.
Text on white background was extremely frustrating to read, since it was surrounded with small pink lines and flickering.
Note this was only near max white and max black areas of the screen.
I found out that it was due to a hardware failure, since slightly bending the laptop (!!) would remove the problem
Attaching an external monitor doesn't show the defect, and booting in Windows 7 (bootcamp) still shows the same screen problem.
Searching the web, it appears that it was a NVidia related heat problem, known to my model, but the offer to get it fixed for free by apple (since it was a known issue) had already run out december 2012 (!!). I think my laptop is about 3-4 years old, and the battery pretty much died on me the first year, probably due to heavy usage and the graphic card getting too hot. There are small sweat/corosion marks of where my hand are placed when typing, on the aluminium, due to how hot my laptop got. It sometimes got so hot I couldn't touch the aluminium on the top left corner near the 1-2-Q-W keys.
Fixing my Macbook is too expensive. Just getting someone to look at it to diagnose it (without repairing it), costs a lot in my country, and we have no official apple store, only authorized resellers. I know it's probably the motherboard, because I tried to unscrew the backlid and gently touch certain area's on the motherboard with a pen, while the computer was still running, to find out where the short circuit was. I only started this kind of trying to "self service" it, because I knew how expensive replacing the motherboard would be (if that was even the issue?).
I have multiple times tried to place something up against the sensitive area's on the motherboard, and then screw back the backlid, to put some pressure on it, which at first worked brilliantly and removed the color issue for some weeks, before it started reappearing. I think the heat from the laptop slowly makes the motherboard adapt, and the problem returns. Extremely frustrating indeed.
I hope I can one day afford a Macbook Air, but until then, I don't want to throw more money after my poor macbook (which I pronbably can't sell anyway, like previous mac's I've owned, the day get a new. It's too worn out + battery got only 5min on a full charge).
I think it's wisest to rather save the money for a Macbook Air, and try to survive until then. Therefor I was hoping someone could help me with a temporary solution.
In Windows 7, using the Nvidia Control Panel to apply color management, I was able to adjust the individual color output values, and thereby remove the the screen issue! Maybe the colors are not as good anymore, but it sure beats not getting a headache after 10minutes trying to read an article.
I tried the same thing on the mac, using Preferences>Displays>Color>Calibrate, but this guide is much harder to use to get a decent result (since only the last 2 options really makes a difference, but changes the colors completely, which I can't change by going back to the first color settings since then it just undos the last step I just did. I'm currently writing this with a very blue pale screen.
I also tried to use ColorSync Utility, expecting to enter values manually, but contrary to the articles I read about using ColorSync, I cannot edit the values in the color profile I created (I can only change the ASCII text input fields). Trying to save the profile gives me the error 'The Document "screenbug.icc" could not be saved.'
I tried to look for alternative color calibration software, but most of them required hardware, or expensive full version to unlock the settings I needed (like SuperCal).
I hope some tech savy users out there that can help me, or at least make my life with my macbook less of a pain.
    All help is much appreciated!!
PS: I've been a loyal Mac user since always. Few things I've learned is:
    1) Don't buy the first version of new hardware. Wait about a month for reviews, to check for issues. I had a problem with an expensive MacPro that had to be replaced, but luckily for free since it was Apple's mistake. Sometimes Apple products also get minor internal changes/fixes without announcements, to help solve reported issues from early buyers.
    3) Take care of you Mac, especially so because you can often sell your used Mac's for quite a value the day you want to upgrade. I've sold about 3 Mac's in my lifetime, for quite a gain, though I don't expect this macbook to do as well, if at all. But it's normally something to be cautious about.
    3) Don't order custom configurations from the Apple Store, if you can live without it (+ it's usually crazy overprices). I payed extra to get the NVidia GeForce 9600M, and was happy with it for the first couple of years, but is now causing me all the problems I have today + made my Macbook worthless.
Stick with what the default configuration if possible, as other configurations might not have been tested carefully.

Who exactly is your comment "I am asking you to fix this problem soon" directed at?
Remember that you are posting on a user to user forum so nobody can really help you.  If you want to give feedback to Apple, then contact them directly at http://www.apple.com/feedback.
Also, if you have an iPhone 3G and iOS 4.2.1 is the latest software that you can install on your phone, then there is absolutely nothing that anyone can do to fix the problem if you want to install Skype that requires iOS 4.3 - what do you think anyone can magically do?
iPhone 3G is a very old phone now and if you want to install Skype on your phone, then you need to go out and buy a new iPhone - either a 4s or a 5.  Nothing more to it.  Buy a new phone.

  • Hi, I use BootCamp for my windows 7, I have a Macbook Pro 2012, and I want to use a second display, is this possible with my Mac using Windows?

I just dont see a port usable for a second screen. I want to hook it up to my TV to view photos and movies. What can I do?

What do you mean you don't see a port? Does your computer have a HDMI or a ThunderBolt/Mini Display port? You can use these to add a second display. Which one you use depends on what input ports your tv has.

  • Second Display Menu Font sizing bug...

A bug that's been around far too long has to do with menu text on the second display screen not adjusting when the custom identity font is changed (reduced in our case).  It would make sense for the font size to be the same on both displays.  The font size always stays the same on the second display.  Please fix this in version 3.

I was able to reproduce the behavior on my machine and I will report it to R&D. Hopefully this issue gets fixed in one of the next releases.

  • Display Color Problems

    Hi,
I'm having a bit of a color display problem with my Mini. The display gives off this yellow color that affects everything on the screen. I have determined this is not a problem with my monitor, since I use the monitor with another computer and the other computer's display screen is fine.
I have tried going into System Prefs and trying to change the hardware options, but I can't get this yellow screen to go away! I think it has to do with my Mini, but I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or just settings thats are screwy.
    Please help! Thanks.
Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm not sure it could really be considered a fault of design when the design was specifically intended to use integrated graphics in a small-footprint system for reasons of cost, product positioning and to create an entry-level system that could be viewed as an appliance in the same way the original Mac concept was intended.
There's been much talk about the inadequacies of this type of 'on-board' graphics system, but the truth is that other than for a relatively small group of potential users, it has so far proven to be more than adequate to the task. Indeed, the mini is clearly not intended to be used for those purposes for which the system as a whole, or any component part of it, is not adequate.
Where the approach fails is when a component is at fault causing an individual such as yourself the sort of problem you are experiencing. But given that it's rare, it's not a fault of design so much as a fault in the specific system concerned. A fault that should be rectified of course, but not met with a redesign of the system to accommodate changes at the cost of a sensible entry-level price point and maintaining a coherent product range that does not compete against itself.
Apple's typical response to a problem of this sort if it can be shown to be a problem with the mini itself would be to replace the logic board since that is what carries the graphics sub-system. However, if you find when testing the system with other displays that the yellow cast isn't present, it may simply be that your monitor is not fully compatible with the mini rather than that any specific fault exists. For that reason, I'd urge you to test other displays if that is possible.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

  • Tecra 730XCDT display size problem - possible to fix?

At 1024 768, the screen is full, but on changing to 800600 and 640480, the visible screen shrinks slightly and drastically in that order. Is it possible to get a lower resolution screen to completely fill the display area?
I've already got the BIOS to stretch text, but there is no setting to stretch graphics.
If someone has got this working, can they send me the name of the driver file, and I will hopefully find it somewhere to install it?

Thanks for replying. Its a Toshiba Tecra 730XCDT which I bought secondhand. It had Windows 95 installed on it, which I upgraded immediately to Windows 98 Second Edition.
I just wondered who else out there might still use this computer and could check whether it is supposed to shrink a lower resolution picture. If so, fine. If not, I have caused the problem by upgrading the operating system. I can regress it back to W95 if I am sure that the correct display driver is on the W95 installation disk. If not, Toshiba put it on, and I would like someone to peek at their driver details and if possible send me the driver.
    Thanks again!

  • Interactive Reports - Problem (possible bug) with button template?

    Hey all,
I possibly noticed a problem with the use of the button template of the search bar in an interactive report.
When I for example choose 'Button Alternative 1' as Button template and then save my report then it looks perfect.
When I now Export/import my application, I loose the button template of my interactive report, if I open the report attributes it isn't selected anymore.
Does anyone else have this problem?
    Apex version: 3.1.2.00.02
    Kind regards,
    Oli

    Oli,
Thanks for bringing this up. One of my beta testers just called to say that two of our IRs weren't showing the Cancel or Apply buttons at all. But the third IR worked fine. In my Alpha version, all three had Buttons as the selected style, so I'm a bit confused what went wrong.
But now I'm thinking if the fact that I had multiple themes defined in the application might have caused the confusion. I didn't deploy the themes from Alpha to Beta because they were all based on Theme 13, and I thought my extensions were included in the application export (which I didn't realize until recently). I'm guessing that if I drop the extraneous themes on Alpha and re-select the button theme, I should be okay when I deploy again?
I just dropped the extra themes in my Beta and the IRs button theme was undefined again, so I'm thinking they were pointing to the wrong "button" style. Hopefully cleaning up in alpha and changing these buttons will resolve this and I won't have deployment problems!
    Wish me luck!

  • WebDynpro call WS problem (possibly bug). Looking for a way to get around.

    Hi all,
I have Web Service which I want to call from Web Dynpro application. Creating WD model I noticed that some of the Web Service messages have name <b>return</b>. So WD model generates nice <b>private java.util.List return;</b> code which would not work.
Is somebody already sow this problem?
Is there are any ways around?

    Hi Stefan,
No, there is no way to me to touch the web service interface, the only solution I can see now is to call WS manually and then wrap the call with additional WS and then call new WS from WD app.

  • IMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), possible?

iMac 7,1 turning internal screen off while watching a movie via output (second display), is it possible with Lion?

Actually, Plex does the best job by placing a black background to the internal iMac screen it's called Blanking.
However that does not turn off the backlit which is very bright on the iMac 24" also the internal screen will draw more power that way.   As you probably know running bootcamp you can turn off the internal screen while watching a movie on the external.  This isn't a hardware limitation, I hope Lion has this feature.

  • Change color on second display

    Hi folks,
I have some trouble setting up a different color on my second display.
I am using a mac mini (late 2012) with mountain lion.
My main display is plugged via hdmi and the second is via thunderbolt with a hdmi adapter.
So, when I open the color settings I see a color window on both displays. The problem is that if I change on the second screen the color profile it changes on my first screen.
I somehow think its because of that the other display is connected via thunderbolt.
The displays are both Samsung SyncMaster S22B350
Has anyone else had this issue before?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

Sorry, I don't have te luxury of 2 monitors anymor, hopefully some other helpers pipe in!

  • Three-Way Color Corrector Eyedropper Tool Not Working on Second Display in OSX Maverick

    Hello,
Since updating to Mavericks at work on Monday, I have been unable to use the Three-Way Color Corrector's eyedropper tool on a dual-screen setup in Premiere Pro CC.
I have all of my panels, apart from my Program monitor panel, on one display. When I select the Three-Way Color Corrector's white balance eyedropper and go to the second display where my Program panel is, it turns back into an arrow and doesn't allow me to select anything. When I move my Program panel to the same display as the others it lets me use it as normal. Unfortunately that is not how I work and I would like the program to function as normal.
I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and discovered a solution. I will submit a bug report right now.
    Thank you.

    Hi Punker,
Thanks for posting the workaround. This is a known issue that we're investigating. Fow now the workaround is to:
    Goto> System Preferences>Mission Control.
    Un-tick "Displays Have Separate Spaces"
    Logout or Re-boot system.
    The issues should be resolved.
