Aperture 2.0 upgrade won't accept serial #

I am a registered user of aperture 1.1-1.5 and bought the 2.0 upgrade. When I try to install it won't recognize my serial # and load the program. How do I solve this?? Very frustrating! Just try getting to talk to anyone at apple!

  • Upgrade won't accept serial?

I just installed the new upgrade that became available yesterday and for some reason it asks for the serial number when I open any of the programs. I've been told this isn't supposed to happen, but it wouldn't be a problem if it would accept the serial number on my packaging. I really don't want to have to reinstall the entire suite. Especially since there is no uninstaller that would be a real pain. Has this happened to anyone else?

Zach, when you installed FCS1 was it new or used? If it had a previous owner, then there's the possibility the # is in the public domain and the FCS2 upgrade has a built-in instruction not recognize the # as valid. I read that somewhere, but I don't know if it's true or not. If true, it could explain why your FCS2 number isn't being accepted.
I looked at some of your previous posts and saw a while back you were having a problem with QT. I think your best course of action is to wipe your MBP HD and do a clean install of the OS and all apps. Even tho I wasn't having any problems, I did that last week before I installed the FCS upgrade and everything is working like a charm. (You don't have to install FCS1. When you install the FCS2 upgrade, all you need to do is type in the FCS1 serial number when the dialog box comes up asking for it.)
There are others, but I used Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer my files to an external before I erased the HD. Flawless transfer.

  • Upgrade won't accept serial number

I am unable to locate my original cd or i may have downloaded when i originally bought CS. i have my previous version (CS 1.0) registered on adobe and they provide my serial number but when i try to register Photoshop, Illustrator etc. it will not accept the serial # provided.
    what do I do?

I think you got you your terms mixed-up.
Registration is the association of your name and details with the product you bought, done on Adobe's servers.
Validating (entering the serial number), is something different. You can't validate a product using (just) the serial number of the previous version, you also need the serial number of the current version. If you don't have the latter and you never registered it you will need to find a proof of purchase and then send it to Adobe so they would provide you with the serial number.

  • Aperture2 Upgrade won't accept 1.0 serial number

Aperture2 Upgrade won't accept 1.0 serial number. I've reentered it twice. I'm reading it directly from the original papers.

I had a similar experience and called Apple Tech Support. After spending 20 min on hold, I was told the Aperture 1.0 serial number was "fragged for abuse" and was tagged as invalid by Apple and that I could not upgrade. This is despite being able to register it when it was bought off Ebay 15 months ago and downloading all software updates thru 1.5.6 and using it for 15 months without a problem.
When I asked about getting a refund for the Aperture 2.0 Upgrade which would not install I spent 45 minutes getting the runaround from four separate "customer service" representatives. This included several, "I have to talk to my supervisor" moments, being bumped back to the initial telephone menu by one rep who could not connect me to someone who could help, and lots more hold time.
Eventually I was given a return authorization for the "Upgrade" and will get a refund on my $99 purchase. Initially they wanted to order the Full Aperture 2.0 Program for me and not refund my upgrade purchase, which meant I would pay $298 to run Aperture 2.0! I like Aperture, but not that much!!
My advice is to call tech support and give them the Aperture 1.0 serial number and see what they say when they run it through their system. If you purchased it from Apple you will probably be given another serial number to use to activate the upgrade, otherwise, like me you might be SOL.
One other piece of advice: backup your current Aperture Library BEFORE you install 2.0. I went to the local Apple Store, bought the full 2.0 Upgrade program (smiling the entire time, of course) and had the "creative", who I had an Aperture one-on-one appointment, with, install it, thinking he would know how to do it better than me. Wrong! He did not backup the library before installing it and the new program crashed each time as it was trying to load the old library. I eventually brought it home--unworking--deleted the old library on the hard drive and had to import the project files from backup DVD's I had burned.
Good luck and I hope you have an easier time than I did today trying to make Aperture 2.0 work...

  • Elements 10 installer won't accept serial #

Tried 5 times to installPhotoshop Elements 10, installer won't accept serial number on the box purchased from Staples. Yes, I have regestered the product with Adobe (today), as a last straw because there is no instruction in the manuel to do so. I have waited 30 minutes for the registration to post. Still unable to continue with the install.

I read all of those. I have a PC, Windows 7. Today I phoned support, got someone who advised a download from the net, THEN use the serial #...still waiting for it to download, could take 45 minutes, he said.  He also said to use the right-hand keyboard, with no hyphens. Instructions on the ReadMe disc say NOT to use the keyboard. Which is correct?
    Thanks.

  • Won't accept serial no. for InDesign CS5 when trying to upgrade to CS6. What to do?

I own InDesign CS5 (single product, not part of a suite) and I'm trying to upgrade to CS6, which I just bought. When prompted for the serial no. for CS5 the installer won't accept it; it says it is not a qualifying product. I have double-checked the serial number at My Adobe account – it is correct. Please help!

  • Had CS4 on Power PC Mac (Non Intel) Now have new iMac and trying to install CS6 but won't accept serial number

Had CS4 on Power PC Mac (Non Intel) along with prior Photoshop versions. Now I have new iMac and trying to install CS6 but it won't accept my original serial number (Starts with PSW401, etc.).

I know what you are saying. I had purchased the CS5.5 upgrade, and a week later got the CS6 upgrade. I did this back in 2012. I had a old Mac Power PC which does not allow you to install CS5.5 or CS6 because it was not an intel processor. So even though I had the upgrades I never installed them. I waited until my old MAC died which it did this past weekend. And now that I have a new iMac I tried to install the new software. All of my past upgrades referenced my original Photoshop that was still resident on my old Mac. But since the install no longer has that reference because of the new computer, it will not accept any of my past serial numbers that it needs for the install.

  • Application install damaged. Reinstall won't accept serial number. How can I reinstall?

I purchased Acrobat Pro 6 for Mac in 2004 and over the years, upgraded to 11.0, which I've used successfully until this morning. When I tried to open the app, I got a message saying it was damaged and needs to be reinstalled. I have not changed computers or OS since last week when it was working fine.
To correct the problem, I downloaded the program from the Adobe web site, but it won't accept my serial number to complete installation.

The options depend on your type of query, something which seems designed to frustrate. Adobe support do not answer "how to" (though they should help with troubleshooting, sure). Adobe must know that most people just click wildly rather than spending hours agonising over exactly the right description, and even if they did, the categories are poor.
Go for a more accurate description: Downloading installing, setting up; serial numbers and redemption codes ; still need help

  • FCE won't accept serial no

    Hey all,
My Macbook pro packed it in last week so I replaced it with a new 27" iMac. I used migration to recover all my files from the Hard drive when I started the iMac. However when I came to open final cut express it was asking me for a serial no, i tried several times to input the information but it kept saying that it wasn't valid. I know that o's are zero's and l are ones but even after trying to reinstall the software it won't accept the serial no. I'm getting pretty frustrated now, any advice is greatly appreciated!
    FCE ver 3.5
    Mac OSX 10.6.4
    3.2GHz intel core i3

You should not migrate the pro apps like FCE from one computer to another, You really need on uninstall (use FSC Remover) and reinstall from the discs.

  • 8.2.4 update nightmare - acrobat reinstall won't accept serial #

I am a victim of the now infamous 8.2.4 update. I tried the option I read in one of these forums that has us move 3 folders from the library Adobe menu and re-input the serial # on launch, but it won't accept it as valid (? - it's a legally purchased cd).
Moreover, I don't even have the actual disk for CS3 because it's in our main office in a different city (Rome) and I am in Milan...
    What can I do?
Any chance of tricking Acrobat into accepting the new (and fixed) 8.2.4 update over the current (bad) 8.2.4?
    Thank you!

    Thank you both!
I like the idea of making a .dmg copy of the disc (though I am not sure what the process would have been).
At any rate, finally they came out with the patch(below)  and now Acrobat seems to be running just fine...

  • How to activate Studio 8 won't accept serial number of my previous versions of Dreamweaver and Flash Pro

In order to complete Studio 8 activation, I was asked to provide serial numbers of older version of Dreamweaver and Flash Pro. I did but it won't accept it.
Kindly help to resolve this issue

    Jeff A Wright wrote:
I know that both Dreamweaver MX 2004 and Flash MX 2004 are two versions later than version 8.0.
Other way round, Jeff - MX 2004 is one version earlier.
    MX 2004 (version 7) pre-dated Studio 8 (version 8) by two years.
Adobe Creative Suite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Macromedia Studio MX 2004 Released September 10, 2003, despite its name, it is internally version 7.
Macromedia Studio 8 Released September 13, 2005, Studio 8 was the last version of Macromedia Studio.
I have always found it odd that MX 2004 owners have been provided with non-activation serial numbers by Adobe.
However, Studio 8 owners (later version software) have been left stranded with no non-activation serials and no way to activate their software when they re-install. What do they do?

  • Upgrade will not accept serial no.

I'm having some trouble getting my Aperture 2.0 upgrade to install. I have the full version of 1.0 (Education version) and I purchased the upgrade from Apple's website. When I attempt to install it, it prompts me for the original serial number, which I enter. I get "The serial number you entered is not valid." as an error message and I'm unable to move on. I've checked and rechecked all the characters and they are correct. There are no spaces before or after the numbers and I'm using the dashes as I'm supposed to.
I suspect it has something to do with my Education version. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

it is on the box of the software as well as in the EDU webstore
as well if you check http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB675Z/A it does say
    Upgrade Requirements
To upgrade to Aperture 2, you'll need a Mac with Aperture 1.5 installed and a valid serial number. You should download and run the Aperture 2 Compatibility Checker before ordering the upgrade to make sure your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for Aperture 2.
Note: Academic versions of Aperture 1.x are not eligible for upgrade pricing.
as well if you look at the EDU store there is only Aperture (at least on the Canadian site as that is the one I can access with my EDU id)
    it also says there
    Note:
Previous purchases of Aperture at an Education discount are not eligible for upgrade pricing.

  • Aperture won't accept serial number on new iMac

Got a new iMac and copied over everything from the old G5 and the ONLY application that won't work is Aperture! It asks for the install product serial number - I enter it and it says it's invalid! I've done everything the 'installing professional products' troubleshooting thingy says and it still won't execute. It's frustrating when you have the original serial number and you're the only owner and it's your new machine and you can't get Apple software to work and you have jobs waiting to be done.
Any helpful suggestions besides buying Adobe products instead of Apple's?
    thx
    Greg

    Call Apple support, 1-800-SOS-APPL.
On a long term basis for heavy graphics apps users IMO the healthiest approach by far with new boxes is to do clean new installations of applications rather than "migrating."
As to switching to Adobe apps to make transfers easier, I have been using Adobe apps for many years, many upgrades (currently the Premium Design Suite of apps), and over the years I have almost always ended up with call(s) to Adobe Customer Support to make app upgrades work. Copy protection is a pain, Apple or Adobe.
