Aperture 2.1.3 forgets window settings

Often, when I start Aperture, the interface is reset to its default layout: viewer above browser, browser in filmstrip mode.
I always change that to my preferred layout, which is browser left of viewer, browser in grid mode.
After quitting and restarting the application, often (but not always) my layout is reset.
Is this a known bug (Aperture 2.1.3 German)? It happens regardless of the user’s type of account (admin or normal).
Cheers,
Rainer

YES!
I have seen this show up as well. I'm also using Aperture 2.1.3. I too thought it was the fault of the picasa plugin... but when I, like you, started doing my exports directly to files I noticed that they still had the same problem.
The horizontal 16x9 seems to be particularly vulnerable... And, yes, it almost looks as if the (pre-crop) master has been "squished" into the aspect ratio of the (post-crop) version. It is very strange, very annoying, and very intermittent. Although, I found that if I quit aperture, restart then re-export... I have better luck.
Boy, am I relieved to find somebody else who is having this problem. For a while there I thought I was going nuts.

  • Windows 8 / IE11 forget proxy settings applied by GPO on reboot

I've just about run out of ideas here on what may be causing this. I've toyed with policies quite often, but never ran into this problem before.
Windows 8 with IE11. While there are GPO's active on the system, the settings are kept free to alter by the user if need be. We use a proxy, so I'm required to provide the proxy and the exceptions in a policy to the PC's to make sure they work under normal
conditions. I added a couple of settings in the GPP (Group Policy Preferences) with the correct settings, enabled these settings (green lines) and tested these on a test system. They work fine, I get my proxy settings pushed through.
Then we get to the rollout on the systems that are affected (not that many, just 10 accounts total, all in nearby rooms). I can run a gpupdate /force to reload the settings, and can confirm the proxy settings are applied properly. So the policy itself seems
sound also on the workplaces it needs to be active on. Users still have the option to change the proxy settings on their own discretion, but that's exactly what we want to happen.
Now we run into the problem that when part of these PC's are rebooted, the PC somehow seems to decide the proxy isn't worth its time anymore, and kills all settings for the proxy back to default. Either that, or it just switches the proxy off. Running a
gpupdate /force reapplies the policy and everything starts working again, but WHY is Windows 8 / IE11 adament about forgetting these settings?
The really maddening thing is that on a couple of PC's with Windows 8 and IE11 (and the same policies applied) it isn't a problem and the proxy remains filled in, as I would expect from GPO's. These include my test system, which makes me unable to replicate
    the problem and test locally.
I've tried enhancing the policy with using a forced wait for the network to become available) aswell as a forced logonscript run on boot instead the standard 'after 5 minutes'. Find these under 'Computer Configuration - Policy - Administrative Templates
    - System - Logon' and 'Computer Configuration - Policy - Administrative Templates - System - Group Policy'. Neither setting seems to work tho. I've also tried going with a Computer Configuration Startup script in which I just request to run 'gpupdate' with
the '/force' as the switches. But this also seems not to do anything.
In short: Does anyone know why Windows 8 / IE11 falls back to something outside the scope of policies, while it accepts the forced policy update with the correct settings when 'gpupdate /force' is issued manually afterwards? And has anyone any idea what
I can do to make sure the policy is applied regardless of what Windows 8 / IE11 thinks it should be?

Just had a go with that... Found out that when I login and refresh the polciy using gpupdate /force, the proxy settings are filled in properly.
Once I reboot tho, the proxy switches itself off (the entries regarding the proxyname and such remain, as does the 'bypass for local addresses, but it's all grayed out). Once I switch the proxy back on, and check under 'Advanced', I find everything in order,
except for the exclusion list which is emptied.
So I forced the gpupdate, verified that the proxy was switched on, and the exclusion list was populated. I then restarted the PC, only to find that above situation (proxy switched off, and exclusionlist empty) had reasserted itself.
Waited a bit and did a forced policy update again. Then verified the logged files (which was just User.txt).
After anonymizing the output a bit, I copied the contents to
http://pastebin.com/YyWswW83 for your review. It looks like it contains 3 batches of GP updates.
The one at 13:20 is likely the primary one in which I forced the GPUpdate. The one at 13:22 is the one issued on the restart of the computer, while the one at 13:24 is the (once again) forced gpupdate.
From my understanding it seems as if the no-change of GPO detection works, but also causes it to skip the policy. Tho I admit that's speculation on my part. Any and all light you (or anyone else) may be able to shine on this, will be greatly appreciated.

  • The print window settings dialog box will not come up

When attempting to print a website, I need to select the option to print as laid out on the screen as described in this how-to: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-print-websites#w_print-window-settings.
However, I have attempted to get this dialog box to come up on 4 different machines that all have Firefox 32 installed and updated. The operating systems of the 4 machines were 2 Windows 7 64bit, 1 Fedora 20 64bit, and Windows 8.1 64bit.
It appears that using the print button launches the print preview screen. Pressing CTRL+P does not open this page either. Is this something I need to change in about:config? I already reset all the printing settings and reset firefox on these machine to see if that was the issue.
Please let me know how to correct this behavior.

On Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 systems, it does not come up. I did try disabling the pop-up blocker, but it just won't load the dialog box. It is driving me a bit crazy.
And Office 365 does put the email out to a new window, but it still has frames :(. Microsoft's support forum advised setting IE and other browsers to print as displayed. The issue is I can't seem to figure out how to get that dialog box to come up. I have tried disabling the native dialog box in about:config, but didn't have any success with that either

  • 'save as' finder window settings and size (on mac)

    Hi there ~
Whenever saving/downloading any type of file from any firefox tab, and the 'save as' window opens and I choose where I want the file to be downloaded to, the finder window columns are really tight and narrow, cutting off the folder names so I constantly have to stretch out that first column so I can see the folder names .. this only happens in firefox and the finder window is always squooshed, even if I adjust it and then close/relaunch firefox .. how can I permanently set the finder window settings to avoid having to manually adjust it each time?
    thanks

  • Why some settings are located in windows settings node while other are located in administrative template node?

    hi friends
when we look at any GPO in Group policy management snap-in, each GPO has these four main sections
1-software settings     2- windows settings       3- administrative templates         4- preferences
my question is, what logic or criteria exist about dividing OS settings into these four parts?
what shared characteristics exist in windows settings node & what shared characteristics exist in administrative templates node?
its confusing. because some settings about windows exist in windows settings node but some other settings which are again related to windows, are located in administrative templates node.
    any help please.
    thanks in advanced

  • DHCP snap-in will not retain window settings, columns, etc.

DHCP (version 6.3) will not retain window settings or columns after being closed. I haven't been able to find any information on this so far. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Hi,
I understand your issue. The DHCP management console won't save the view customize settings.
We could customize the DHCP management console using MMC (Microsoft Management console)snap-in, customize it and save it to a place. Doing this makes the console remembered the configuration.
More information regarding MMC, please take a look at the below link:
    Microsoft Management Console 3.0
For the DHCP management console does not remember the customization, this might by design. If we want to make a customized DHCP console shortcut, we could take a try to enter DHCP in author mode, more detailed steps, please take a check with the post of

  • OSD: Apply Windows Settings and Unattend.xml

What's the principle with "Apply Windows Settings"?
Whether "Apply Windows Settings" and "Unattend.xml" work together
If I used them at the same time, what will happen?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong:
Apply Windows Settings steps are actually injected into the unattend.xml during the task sequence, so unattend.xml gets processed with the settings you specified in the step.

  • How do I get Windows XP to forget wireless settings

I've had a perfectly good wireless network for several years using a WRT54GS router wired to my dektop machine. My laptop has connected wirelessly with no problems. I was using WEP security.
Recently I added a Logitech Squeezebox Duet to the network along with a WRE54G Range Expander. This combination required that I change the security to WPA-TKIP. In order to do this, I ended up giving the network a totally new name and setting it up manually in XP on my desktop using the Windows Wireless Network Setup Wizard. This works for a while, but then at seemingly random times Windows reverts the network back to WEP security. I'd like to go into XP and wipe out all the past wireless network info, but I can't find any way to do it. The Help says there should be a Wireless tab in the Network connections window, but I don't have one. I'm not sure if this is because I have a wired connectioni to the router or because the Linksys router isn't supported or what?
Any ideas how to clean out all the Windows information, or any other thoughts on getting Windows to forget WEP?

I'm afraid I may have confused things by jumping to conclusions about where my problem was, so let me start over:
    1. I have a Desktop machine that has a wired connection to my WRT54GS Router/Access Point. The internet connection is through the Router and there is also a wired Network Printer on the network. All of this is working properly in all cases.
    2. I have a Laptop machine that has a wireless connection through the Router. This machine can see and use both the internet and the Network Printer whether my wireless security is set up as WEP or as WPA.
    3. When I set up my wireless security as WEP I can connect from my Laptop to my Desktop and access the Desktop files. I just reverted my security to WEP this morning and confirmed that this is working.
    4. However, when I set my wireless security as WPA, I can not access the Desktop machine even though the internet and Network Printer access is working properly (which must mean the wireless network itself is properly configured).
I have been assuming that I must set up wireless network access on the Desktop machine in order for my laptop to access it. Is this correct? If so, I have been unable to get WPA security set up using the Windows Wireless Network Setup Wizard. It keeps reverting to WEP. And I have no wireless tab in the Network Connections folder. I need WPA security to get my Squeezebox to work, so I'm stuck.

  • Computer Forgets Audio Settings

    Hello,
I am a new user to this forum and I have a problem that I need help with. When ever I restart or shut down my computer my creative audio control panel along with creative console launcher software forgets all of its prior settings of being set to 5. audio and reverts back to the default settings of stereo sound along with every other setting I have set. For some reason the creative software will not save my setting when I restart or shut down my computer but if I put my computer to sleep it will remember them. This is very frustrating because I always have to manually change my setting back which is tedious and time consuming. I searched the creative website for help support, the internet, and even talked to customer support, and was not able to find a solution. If you guys have any solutions that would be greatly appreciated. Please help, thanks.
My specs are Vista Home 64 bit along with the proper creative drivers for the xfi xtreme music sound card.

The originals off of the CD did not.

  • Exported Aperture JPGs not working on Windows machine

    Hey Guys,
I have a FAT32 formatted flash drive (sandisk, pretty standard) to which I've been exporting JPGs from Aperture.  Pretty standard export settings, I've even tried it with versions and originals.  I export them to the drive, plug the drive into a Windows 7 machine that I'm trying to transfer to, and it will not read the file.  The file is THERE, it just shows a generic JPG preview and when double clicking on it will not open.  The Windows OS seems to have added characters to the export as well, i.e. a space and a comma before the name.
This happens whether it's a hard drive or flash drive, but not over email.  I can email a file directly and it works just fine, it's only when putting it onto disk that the problems arise.
I would use email, but I need to send thousands of photos.
    Thanks in advance!

Not sure, but a test we need to run is to Export to a folder, say on your Desktop, and then away from Aperture drag the folder or image file to this same flash drive.  Then check the result on the Windows box.
