Aperture 2. Cant reconnect to my referensed dng's...

Just the dng's. Yes I find the master but the buttons "reconnect" and "reconnect all" are not active. The only strange thing I can see is that the preview and the master have different time (hours& minutes). The rest is identical. Anyone else have this issue?
(I had to reconnect to a lot of pix after importing 1.5 to 2 - but most is tiff and jpeg and that's no probs. Just dng's...and yes, I can still open those dng's in for example Preview.

Thank you. That did the trick . Ap2 doesnt support my dng's anmore - thats why the reconnect butons are greyed out I suppose.
Hmmm. I have a Panasonic FZ30 and its not supported, but my dng's made from the raw's was ok for Apperture 1.5. And dng's made today are supported by App2.
So - I have to find out a way to make new dng's and reconect them...its just about 50 so it would not take to long.

  • My wifi drops on the Iphone 6/cant reconnect

I have seen other people with this issue, I am posting it myself as well to get Apples Attention. My wifi on the Iphone 6 intermittently drops and wont reconnect.
I go to settings and it is searching for a wifi network and it cannot find any. Even after I turn wifi off then on, it still cant find mine or any other network. The only was it reconnects is after I restart my phone, which is the only temporary solution I can find. Anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried to delete the contact and then re add them?

  • Kicked off network at night and cant reconnect til...

Okay so almost every night (usually around midnight but sometimes earlier) at least one of our computers gets kicked off the network even though the all the lights on the hub are on and I can see its still active on the computer. Even my friend's xbox get kicked off. When I try to reconnect the computers it says windows was unable to connect, and troubleshooting suggests I'm not in range or that i should checked my adapter's settings. I checked and everything seemed fine. Also ran antivirus and whatnot, but found nothing.
Im not a very computer smart person so I really dont know what's wrong. Im posting it here mainly because I already have an account, Bt is my internet provider and I have a homehub, and a friend said Bt could be kicking me off  (but he has a grudge against bt after having an argument with techsupport on the phone, and blames most computer problems on them).
Please help, or if this is the wrong forums point me elsewhere. Thanks.

Sorry I took so long to reply, been busy.
I changed the channel, still getting kicked off at night. And we've had bt broadband for over a year now I think so...
Also I should probably mention we do have other issues that I guess are similar.
-If downloading a large file the computer doing so gets kicked off the network and usually cant re-connect for half a day. (very annoying)
-I don't think the speeds are what they should be but we live in the countryside(ish) and its nowhere near unbearable.
-When me or my sister load up the game team fortress2 the hub resets.(haven't tried in the last few weeks)
-Sometimes at night after being kicked I see a CT homehub as well as my BT homehub and openzone on the connection list.
-Router resets once or so a week.
    Any ideas?
    Sorry for the bother.

  • Cant convert CR2 files to DNG.

I downloaded Abobe DNG converter but then discovered that it couldn't convert the CR2 files from my canon EOS D550 to DNGs. So I downloaded the update that said it would be able to do that but it wont install. Any ideas how to get round this. Abobe wont help me cause im using creative suite 2.

Do you mean the DNG converter won't install?  It is a freestanding independent program, so if it won't install there must be something wrong with your download.  Are you on a PC or a Mac?  What OS?  How are you trying to install the converter?  What version are you trying to install?

  • I exported jpg, tif, psd, and dng files from Lightroom but Aperture does not see them except for dng during import

How do I import jpg, tif, psd files exported from Lightroom 3 into Aperture 3.2?  I had no problems before...seems like since I installed Lion, they do not show up in the import folder.

How are you trying to import them (again) ?  If you're importing through the Import Window and have RAW only set then that's all you'll get.
Also what's an Import Folder? Not sure how Lightroom fits into this. If you share your workflow with us we might be able to help.

  • Phone is disconnecting from the "radio service" cant reconnect

I've lost my email and BB IM capabilities.   Connection Manager says the radio service has been "turned off"  I can't figure out to ' turn it back on"

My Subaru Forester 2012 wouldn't reconnect automatically to my new phone.
It did my head in for months.
Thanks guys, because of you, I worked this out.  My Forester needed the "handsfree" setup, not just a Bluetooth pairing.  Reading your posts, suggesting to setup the phone through the steering wheel buttons worked.
But only to initiate the hansfree component.
From turning car accessories on - Pressing "off hook" button on the wheel, initiates the "handsfree" setup.  Because I'd done this originally, my old phone was in here.  Deleted it using the tune dial (no voice commands) and deleted pairing on iPhone 4.
Turned car off, and back on again, pressed "off hook" and using tune dial, recorded new phone profile name, and paired the phone.  Now it auto connects everytime I get in the car
    Woohoo.

  • Convert RAW Files in Your Aperture Database to Adobe DNG Files

The following describes how to convert all the RAW images in your Aperture database from manufacturer formats, such as Sony's ARW and Canon's CR2, to Adobe's DNG while retaining all the Adjustments already applied to your RAW files.  In the example below I am assuming that your Aperture Library has ARW and CR2 files.  These steps work with the latest version of Aperture, being Version 3.3, and have not been tested with earlier versions (in fact, it probably will not work because the database structure changed in 3.3 - however, this means that the steps below can also be applied to your iPhoto library).  The steps are:
    1. Within Finder select the Aperture Library and Secondary Click to bring up the Shortcut Menu.  From this select "Show Package Contents"; this will open a Window showing all the files/directories contained within your Aperture Library.
    2. Drag the "Masters" folder out of the Package and place it on your Desktop.  The purpose of this step is so that Applications, such as Adobe DNG Converter, can "see" the "Masters" folder, which they cannot do if it is located within the Aperture Library Package.
    3. Run the Adobe DNG Converter, select the above "Masters" folder with the "Select Folder" button, make sure you have selected the option "Save in the Same Location", it is also a good idea to select the option "Skip source image if the destination already exists", check your Preferences then select the "Convert" button.
    4. Adobe DNG Converter will now convert all the RAW files to Adobe DNG files and save them in the same location as your existing RAW files.  Once complete, take a note of (a) the number of files converted and (b) the types of files converted, such as if the conversion includes ARW, CR2, NEF files etc.  In this example I will assume that the converter only found ARW and CR2 files; if your system is different then modify the steps below to make sure it covers all the RAW file types converted in your particular system.
    5. Select the "Masters" folder and in the Finder Window Search Field search for all the files that end in .ARW and .CR2 (this filename search list should match the types of files found by the Adobe DNG Converter in step (4)(b) above).  The number of files returned by the search must match the number of files recorded by the Adobe DNG Converter in step (4)(a) above.  Do NOT put the .DNG files in your search criteria.  Select all the files found in the search and move them to the Trash.  This will delete all the original manufacturer's RAW files from your Aperture Library leaving behind all the new DNG files.
    6. Move the "Masters" folder on your Desktop back to the root directory of the Aperture Library Package Content directory.
    7. Select the Finder Window containing the Aperture Library Package Contents.
    8. If there is a file called "ApertureData.xml" then open it with a text editor.  Search and Replace ".arw" with ".dng", ".ARW" with ".DNG", ".cr2" with ".dng" and ".CR2" with ".DNG" (note, do not use the " marks in your search).  Make sure you cover all the file types incorporated in your particular system.  Save the "ApertureData.xml" file.
    9. Traverse to the Database/apdb directory.  Select the "BigBlobs.apdb" file and open it with a Hex editor.  In this example I will use Hex Fiend by Ridiculous Fish (see http://ridiculousfish.com/hexfiend/).  Once the file is open perform a Find and Replace ensuring you are finding and replacing Text and not Hex.  In Hex Fiend this means selecting Edit/Find from the menu and then selecting the "Text" button to the top/left of the window.  In your Find/Replace field you will need to find ".arw" and replace it with ".dng", make sure you select "Replace All" (note, do not use the " marks in your search).  Do exactly the same for ".ARW" with ".DNG", ".cr2" with ".dng" and ".CR2" with ".DNG" (and whatever particular RAW files were in your system).
    10. Perform exactly the same steps in (9) for the files "History.apdb", "ImageProxies.apdb", "Library.apdb" and "Properties.apdb".
That is it, your Aperture Library now contains DNG files instead of your original manufacturer files while still retaining all the Adjustments originally made in Aperture to those manufacturer files.  Of course, you can repeat the same step and replace your DNG files with the original RAW manufacturer files if you wish.  This process works because:
    1. Aperture does not store the Adjustments in the RAW files, it keeps these in its internal SQLite database.
    2. By using a Hex Editor you (a) don't have to play with SQLite to gain access to Aperture's data and (b) because you are replacing text that has exactly the same number of characters you are not invalidating the format of the underlying data file - this is why you use a Hex Editor instead of a simple text editor.
Think of Aperture as being a repository that holds Adjustments which then link to the original RAW source.  Therefore, the above process simply replaces your RAW source and therefore all the Aperture Adjustments are still valid; same Adjustments, new source.  In case you ask, no, you cannot transfer Adjustments in and out of Aperture because there is no standard to transform adjustments between different photographic applications.

    A rather involved method, David.
I am sure it works, and compliments for figuring it out, but I think one critical step is missing in your workflow: Before you begin - backup, backup, backup!
And I think, all the edits in your database that you are doing so diligently, is what you bought Aperture for to do for you, why do it yourself?
I convert selected raw files this way - without manually patching the Aperture Library:
Export the originals of the raw images that I want to convert.
    Run dng-converter.
Import the converted originals back, flag them,  and move them to the project they came from.
Sort the project by capture date, so that identical images are show side by side.
Then I use the Lift&Stamp tool to transfer all adjustments and tags from the original raw to the dng copy. I check, if some edits are left to do, then delete the original.
It may take a little longer than your method, but this way all edits in the library are done by Aperture, and I am protected from accidental slips when editing the property list files. That requires a very careful work.
Patching the database files inside the library may be justified as a last ressort, when you need to fix and recue a broken Aperture library, and none of the provided tools is working, but not as a routine operation to do batch conversion of image files. It is very error prone. One wrong entry in the library files and your Aperture Library may be unreadable.

    Léonie

  • Aperture lack of DNG support unfortunate

It's difficult to understand why Aperture does not offer support for Adobe DNG files.
DNG/RAW files are being used by some camera manufacturers that I work with, and they contain a wealth of metadata as well as the broadest range of image data, including "altitude", which is now very useful in my professional work.
This lack of support has forced me to go back to Lightroom, and to reconsider that application as my primary media catalogue and editing application.

A JPEG saved as a DNG isn't really a DNG file.
It is true that Aperture doesn't have "comprehensive" DNG support. It doesn't support linear DNGs, and it doesn't support some of the newest DNG extensions that Adobe has added (lossy compressed DNGs, etc.). I don't know the exact version of the spec that Aperture supports.
But do note that DNG is a lot of things. It's a fairly comprehensive spec that has many versions, with lots of different things. Aperture does support many DNG properties, but not all of them. If you want the latest, greatest, most comprehensive DNG support, then Adobe will have it, as it's their specification.
I personally just use the RAW files that come out of camera - whether they be NEF, CRW, CR2, or DNG. I _never_ convert my camera RAW files into DNG, because that actually strips some data (in my case, focus point informatin from CR2 files that Aperture can display, is removed from the converstion to DNG). There are many long-winded discussions on the "value" that DNG provides, and I don't subscribe to them. It provides no legay-proofness today that's unavailable other places.

  • Dng 7.1 and aperture not working

    Hey there
has anyone had any succes to open Adobe  Camara raw 7.1 in Aperture
i get the message undsupported file

You need to clarify your question.  What specifically are you asking?
It is possible to create DNGs with ACR 7.1 that Aperture cannot open. In particular, linear DNG files, as well as lossy DNG files, cannot be read by Aperture (and who knows if they every will be).

  • Aperture won't import DNG files with my adjustments from LR

When I export my images from LR2 as DNG and import them into Aperture3, although they look fine in the import window, when I view them in projects they have lost all the modifications I put into them.
I then tried to import them as TIFF 16 which worked but the image size quadrupled and I'm loath to use TIFF 8 due to the loss of information.
Am I doing something wrong? I thought DNG was a universal format so why can't Aperture recognise the adjustments and modifications?

Edits in LR do not modify the DNG/raw other than embedding metadata that "calls out" editing instructions that would, in any case, be unique to Lightroom. As someone else noted, their may be no equivalent in Aperture for a particular LR edit. DNG may be a universal format but the metadata that's written to a DNG could be proprietary.
I'm afraid the only way to retain your LR edits in Aperture will be to export the data in a format that actually renders your edits to the image. If file size is a concern, I would suggest either 16bit Photoshop "PSD" or 16bit compressed TIFF. I would also suggest using AdobeRGB as your export profile/working space as I believe this is the internal color space of Aperture...I would assume Aperture is intelligent enough to honor tagged/embedded profiles but....on the other hand...I wouldn't assume!

  • Aperture is unable to reconnect with PSD files

I used Aperture's 'Consolidate Master' command to move some files from Referenced to Aperture's managed Library. Aperture didn't locate some PSD files with edited in external editor badges and left them behind during the file move.
The files that got abandoned are PSD files with quite a few layers. The actual file sizes are much bigger than Aperture reports in its EXIF information for the files.
I have tried using 'Manage Referenced Files' command. I locate the proper master file but Aperture won't reconnect. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Fortunately I have never made the assumption that editing a file externally preserves a fully fledged master copy in Aperture.
I always save externally edited files from Photoshop to a desktop folder intially, then import that folder when all the external editing for that shoot is complete. Only then am I convinced that I will have a Jpeg (or Psd or whatever) as a grade 1 master file.
Also, mixing file types any folder or album always seems a bit dangerous to me.

  • Beginner question about RAW/DNG files and Aperture + Adove

I used to use Microsoft Expression Media. When I would edit a .DNG file in Photoshop and update the sidecar or JPEG preview, EM would show the .DNG with the new adjusted preview in its catalog.
I noticed Aperture 3.0 doesn't read these adjustments from my .DNG files. Is there a way to get Aperture to properly read my .DNG files?
Conversely, when I make RAW edits in Aperture, can I view these on the .DNG master in Photoshop? How?

    Adrian:
I have been using DxO Optics Pro in conjunction with Aperture. The easiest workflow that I have found is to run the images through DxO before bringing them into Aperture. I have DxO export the converted images as 8-bit TIFFs. (Sixteen-bit TIFFs are really big.) I, then, import the TIFFs into Aperture. There are two disadvantages to this approach: I do not get to bring the original RAW file into Aperture and using DxO on all images, even those that turn out to be rejects, takes a lot of time.
I have also played around with adding images to Aperture, exporting masters before doing any Aperture image manipulation, running the exported images through DxO, exporting the converted images as 8-bit TIFFs and reimporting the TIFFs into Aperture. This can be done without Catapult. I think the advantage of Catapult is that it will automatically stack your processed TIFFs with the original RAW files in Aperture. The advantage of this approach is that I can use Aperture to decide which images I want to process in DxO. Remember that DxO will not see any work that you have done on the image in Aperture; this is why I do my DxO work before doing any Aperture manipulations.
