Aperture 2 says my Graphics card is unsupported.

I just downloaded the Aperture 2 trail. It installed fine, but reminded me that I needed to update Mac OS X to version 10.4.11 when launched (I was running 10.4.10 at the time).
So, I updated to 10.4.11 with no problems. Now when I launch Aperture 2, it says that my graphics card is unsupported, despite the fact that it's specifically listed as one of the supported cards on the Aperture 2 "Technical Specifications" webpage. In fact, it is listed as one of the "Recommended" cards.
I'm using a MacPro (2.66 GHz Dual Core Xeon) with the stock NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.
This setup worked fine with Aperture 1.5.6, but now it also reports the same error at launch.
Suggestions, anyone?

I figured it out. It turns out the culprit was Apple Remote Desktop's (ARD) "Curtain Mode".
I was not actually in front of the Mac Pro when I launched Aperture 2 for the first time -- I was controlling it with ARD from my Mac at work, hoping to get Aperture started building previews while I was at work. Apparently, something about Remote Desktop's "Curtain Mode" caused Aperture to incorrectly identify the graphics card. Very odd.... Anyway, by disabling "Curtain Mode" I was able to launch and use Aperture just fine.
Only time & testing will tell if it's the App I've been waiting for, but it's definitely an improvement over 1.5.x.

Aperture and Nvidia GT120 Graphics Card

I'm ready to order the Mac Pro 8 Core with Aperture installed. I have two questions.
1. when Aperture is preinstalled is a card copy of the manual shipped, and
2. will the GT120 graphics card work well with Aperture?
I will converting Canon 5DMKII raw files to 16 bit tiff.

Coming from a G5 and a MBP, I now have a 2.66 eight core with 12Gb of ram. I have the standard GT120 installed and am waiting for a GTX 285 which is on backorder with Apple.
FWIW the GT120 is fine with my Sony 24Mpx files. I presume you'll import the raws and export as 16bit Tiffs, not work with 16bit tiffs?.
Aperture relies on GPU and I stayed away from the ATI due to the 512Mb of on board ram rather than the 1Gb of the GTX 285. I won't know if my decision was justified until the 5th Jan 2010 when I should finally be able to drop the last piece of hardware into my system.
In the meantime, aperture is fully usable and very speedy compared to my G5 and even the MBP.

Motion trial checker says motion cannot be installed graphics card... I have 2 graphics cards: both NVIDIA Geforce 7300 GT in my Macpro 3Ghz... I am using only 1 card with a vga monitor. It says my graphics card does not meet the minimum requirement for motion. but it does. I tried it with a different monitor but I get the same error please help

Motion compatibility checker...well, that's an old app!! You're probably looking at the wrong place-at the Motion for PowerPC pages.There used to be a trial for Motion version 1 and/or 2 but both will not work in an Intel processor Mac. The Universal binary version ( 2.1 and later ) has been integrated into Final Cut Studio and there's no trial or checker for Motion since then.

Mainstage says my MacBook graphics card isn't supported. Huh?

I just installed Logic Studio on my MacBook 2.2 Intel Duo OSX 10.5.5, and Mainstage won't boot. Says my graphics card isn't supported. Logic Pro works fine.
Any ideas, geniuses?

MainStage has additional requirements beyond those of Logic Pro. Your MacBook uses onboard graphics which don't meet the requirement for the original version of MainStage; some people have gotten it to work by running the current MainStage updater.

Graphic card problem - blue screen error

When I turn my computer on after it has been off for a long time, it comes up with a blue screen which says: "Your graphics card has got stuck in an infinite loop and your computer had to be shut down to prevent damage"
When I restart my computer it is fine, but I still want to change my graphics card, or at least fix he problem

Download the graphic card driver from Toshiba download site. In device manager open graphic card properties. Chose please driver tab and use uninstall (advanced) option. After that restart the unit and install downloaded Toshiba driver.
I am pretty sure that it should work well again.

Windows 7 graphics card errors with games - how do I get/update drivers??

Just recently installed windows 7 with bootcamp and having some issues with games and screen savers. Most of the screen savers that come with 7 say I need a video card compatible with Direct3D. Secondly, 2 games that I want to play (minecraft and terraria) both give me graphics card errors. Minecraft works fine on the OS X side but says I should update my graphics card drivers. Terraria says the graphics card does not support Direct3D. How/where do I get these drivers or how/where do I update them? The graphics card I have is NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, running on a MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2009 model.

Crashing FCP (two graphics cards?)

I'm in an unfamiliar studio, newly set up. I'm working with FCP 7 (with all the latest updates).
New Mac Pro tower:
MacPro5,1
6-Core Intel Xeon
2.66 GHz
2 processors
total number of Cores: 12
and 2 ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics cards
Problem #1: can't get the 2nd monitor to playback full screen; screen is just black. When I first started up the machine, this was an issue. I turned off Exposé and made the keyboard functions 'standard' and it seemed to work properly for half a day. When I came back a week later (no one touching it in the meanwhile) it wouldn't display playback full screen.
There is an Apple Tech article that says 2 graphics cards can cause monitor issues. I went to pull one graphics card, but there is no 2nd hub on this computer to be able to run two monitors from one graphics card. And I need two monitors, this is a big job.
Now I'm getting FCP crashing every ten or twenty minutes. Scrolling the timeline I get odd primary colors flashing (mostly green), and while scrolling one clip I'm getting flashes of a dozen clips popping onto the screen. I've trashed the .plist file. I've repaired permissions.
I'm wondering if the 2 graphics cards can be causing these problems? Or if there are any issues with those PARTICULAR graphics cards. Or what I need to do to pull one card, but be able to have the two monitors running off the other (given this computer hasn't a second plug for the 2nd monitor to go into one card)?
Or if it might be something entirely different?
I'm on Fogo Island out in the North Atlantic ... no instant tech support nearby.

Quickie question.
I'm disconnecting one of the cards, to see if that has any effect on the crashing. I'll use one monitor for awhile.
I see that there are two ports out of the remaining card, one is a DVI out, the other is a display port ... looks like two USB slots side by side (but bigger holes). Can I get an adapter for this display port thing, to go to the DVI cable coming from the monitor? So I can use the one graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5770 to run the two monitors?
I know that the two cards are causing the monitors to NOT respond as they should, but has it been determined that they are also responsible for causing FCP crashes?
Or should I be checking my RAM etc.?

Trying to play diablo 3, graphics card incompaitble

I just bought Diablo 3 yesterday and it says my graphics card isnt able to run the game. I have a HP pavillion DV6-1230us, im running windows 7 64-bit with the first service pack. All my drivers and software are up to date it still wont let me play. I can see now that my graphics card (even though it was in the fine print) was not compatible with the game. My question is , is there anyway I can get software upgrade just to push me over the edge to be able to play or is this gonna require me to get a whole new computer? Thanks!

Need to upgrade my graphics card- help!

I have a mid 2009 macbook pro 17 in. with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB graphics card. I am getting an error message when I use photoshop that says my graphics card is not compatible for some graphics. I assume I can upgrade, but I don't know where to start. Please help.

The graphics card can not be upgraded in a macbook pro. the GPU is soldered to the logic board and is not an upgradeable part of your system.

AGP graphics card + final cut pro HD 4.5

i have final cut pro hd 4.5 and just got a mac book pro. and when installing everything work but when i went to open FCP an error message came up saying AGP graphics card missing?
does anybody know what that means? or why that message comes up? is there anything i can do to fix it?

Yes, it means your computer doesn't have an AGP graphics card. The Macbook Pro has a PCI Express graphics card. There are PCI graphics cards, AGP graphics cards, and PCI Express graphics cards. The power and speed of the cards has progressed with the connection method (which is the distinction between the 3 I listed).
PCI cards plug into PCI slots. AGP cards plug into AGP slots. PCI Express cards plug into PCI Express slots.
When FCPHD 4.5 came out, PCI Express didn't exist. Therefore, it's looking at the graphics card universe as: is this a PCI card? or an AGP card? It needed an AGP card to run, so that test fails and FCP says "You need an AGP card to run me".

Photoshop CS6 3D not supported by my NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256MB graphics card

Hey I am trying to use CS6 Photoshop 3D options and when I open Photoshop it says my graphics card is not supported for 3D, it say I need a graphics card that has 512 MB of vRAM. Can I update my MacBook Pro or am I SOL?

The MacBook Pro has got a soldered graphic card, and in your case, you have an integrated card which doesn't work properly with these type of apps. Unfortunately, it's not possible to replace this card

Touchsmart 500 with windows 8. Graphics card upgrade.

I have an IQ506 and I have put Windows 8 on it. I had to dissable the graphics card which is an INVIDIA 9300M GS because it would not allow me to use the touchscreen. Everything works well and I have not had an issue with anything so far but when my kids try to watch anything like NETFLIX it gives an error an says the graphics card needs updated. I have already updated my graphics card and I know that it is not compatible with Windows 8 so I am wondering what I can purchase to allow windows 8 to run propperly with my touchscreen display and not have any issues with anything else.

Based on the CTO (configured to order) models using the same hardware, your only choices are;
Intel Integrated graphics (if supported)
nVidia GeForce 9300M GS (already installed)
nVidia GeForce 9600M GS (HP p/n FK891-69001 - nVidia GeForce 9600M GS NB9P graphics card - PCI Express x16, MXM II interface, 512MB memory)
I have no idea if the 9600M GS will provide better compatibility with the TouchScreen. The use non-HP supplied cards is not supported and may "blacklisted".

On the internet it says the graphic card has a 256 MB of RAM, and i can't play Counter Strike Source, I have to watch in floor when I am playing.

DV7T Graphics card error

I have a DV7T with Beats Audio, and whenever I start it, it gives me an error saying my graphics card is not up to date. I have tried downloading new software from the HP website, but it doesn't allow me to do so. Thoughts?

Try doing the update via the Tune-Up application in the HP Support Assistant.
