Aperture 3.0.1 toolbar

After I print an image all buttons in the toolbar become inactive. To re-activate the toolbar I must click on another project or minimize Aperture. Any ideas?

sounds like a genuine bug. What happens if you just give it some time to return from printing? Perhaps you're also having printer issues?
Maybe you could also try clicking on something that causes less disruption, like a menu item? Or try a keystroke like the down arrow.

I was editing photos and it was getting stuck or frozen and working very slowly.  I attempted to restart the computer but it would not allow me to quit aperture.  Now aperture appears in my toolbar but will not open up so I can work on any photos.  Any ideas?

Did you try opening from the Applications folder?
Depending on how far that gets you, I would also take a look at the Troubleshooting Basics.

  • How do I open muliple raw files in ACR hosted by Photoshop?

    Hi,
This one is annoying the hell out of me.  I used to highlight multiple raw files in Bridge and just press Enter (being the equivalent to File -> Open) and the images would all open together in one ACR interface with the filmstrip down the side.  Now, however, one file opens and if I hit cancel or done, the second image THEN opens, and so on and so forth.  If instead of pressing Enter I choose File -> Open in Camera Raw or I right-click and Open in Camera Raw, it works fine and does what I want (or if I click the aperture symbol on the toolbar at the top).  It's a minor annoyance I suppose but and annoyance nonetheless.
The worst part is that it worked fine until I uninstalled CS5.1.  I had CS5.1 no problem, then installed CS6/CC alongside it.  I got eveything working how I wanted in CS6/CC and then uninstalled CS5.1.  I may be wrong on the exact timing of the problem and therefore it may be a Red Herring, but it seems fairly close together when this started.
Notes:  There is no expansion bar on the left of ACR that is just hiding the filmstrip.  Which is consistant with the fact that the second image does in fact open after I close the first.  So they are clearly being treated as seperate open actions.  Also, in Bridge, Edit -> Preferences -> General: 'Double-click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge', ticked or unticked makes no difference.  Also in Photoshop, Edit - Preferences -> File Handling: 'Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for Supported Raw Files', ticked or unticked makes no difference.
I have also tried changing the above mentioned options, closing PS and Bridge so the preferences file is updates, changing them back to how I want and closing so the preferences file is updated and I get the same results.
I hope I've made it clear what the issue is, and any help would be much appreciated for what may seem a minor thing.
    Cheers

I don't have CC just CS6.  In Photoshop if I use open and select multiple raw file and click open Raw file open one at a time in ACR. One after the other.  If I use Adobe Bridge and select mutiple raw files and open with the default application ACR open with all raw file or double click. It also opens like that from CS6 mini brdge.  In any case the bridge must be running.

  • Aperture3, Lion, and the cloud: Where did my Mobile Me Galleries go?

How do I share my photo galleries from Mobile Me? Not photostream but specific galleries. I am using Aperture 3, OS 10.7.2 and Mobile Me. When I migrated to iCloud my galleries seem to have disappeared but Aperture is still uploading galleries to somewhere.

And to publish a new specific gallery to Mobile Me drag a Mobile Me icon to the toolbar of your main Aperture window (View -> Customize Toolbar).
Select the images you want to share in the Browser window and press  the Mobile Me icon in the toolbar. Then you will see a panel where you define an album to be published as Mobile Me Gallery.

  • Understanding Cookies, Plugins, & Removal

    (1) I have an annoying error message that pops up every time I open Safari (and strangely, also when I open Aperture) that says
    "Community Toolbar
We’re sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar."
I have had it happening for about a year. I have no idea what the Community Toolbar is which it is talking about. I do not recall ever installing any extensions or plugins into Safari. My list of extensions is empty as it should be.
    (2) I decided to have a look through my cookies list and delete those that look suspicious or unnecessary. I did this via Safari Preferences > Privacy > Show Details.
In the list of cookies there are numerous ones which indicate they are plugins and have numerical names with a square bracket like 238] When I try to remove them they automatically regenerate.
As I said I have never knowingly installed a plugin into Safari so why are there plugins there? Are these a normal part of Safari? If not can they be removed and do they have anything to do with the Community Toolbar error message I get? How do I track down the Community toolbar and eliminate it?
I am using the latest version of Safari in Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is up to date.

Some good news, I have discovered how to remove the Community Toolbar from reading other forum posts on this issue. I was surprised to discover it appears to be a common problem caused by 3rd party web sites.
To assist any others with this same problem this is what you do:
Close Safari, then locate and delete the following files and it should be gone:
    /Library/Application Support/Conduit
    /Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    /Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    /Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    /Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
where / is the root library on your Hard Disk.
If you are running Snow Leopard you should also look here:
    Library/launchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    Library/Application support/conduit plugins
Now back to my 2nd question. What about the cookies that indicate they are plugins and what do I do about them?

  • Can´t access customize toolbar window in Aperture 3

    Dear Apple community,
When I call "customize toolbar" in Aperture 3.2.4, the window with additional icon options is missing, inlcuding the "done" button (see attached screenshot), but I´m able to move existing icons arround and the rectangular spaces appear. To end the customization mode, Aperture has to be restarted. In other applications there seems to be no problem.
My Sytem is a MacBook Pro, 2.4 Ghz (Core 2 Duo) with 2 GB RAM with MacOS 10.6.8
Aperture was installed from the AppStore and runs in 64 bit mode.
So far, I tried to remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist", with no effect.
I did not reinstall Aperture yet, because the current version in the AppStore seems to require 10.7. Would I still be able to install the latest version running on 10.6.8 from the AppStore?
The Problem has been reported before (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17081479#17081479), but I couldn´t find the solution.
Below, I copied the console report.
Thank you very much for your help,

the problem exists even on a "clean" user account.
That really suggest a system wide trouble - hardware, MacOS X system, or Aperture.app.
Currently I´m wondering, if there are still remains of Aperture 2 around, which could interfere with Aperture 3.
Did Aperture 3 ever work previously correctly? Then I do not think, that there are older receipts from Aperture 2 interfering.
Does the console output (see first post) mean anything to you?
The Console output shows only calls to methods from the standard frameworks that are part of MacOS X, no frameworks that are installed inside the Aperture application. But Aperture might be calling wrong, outdated frameworks or GUI-elements (nib-files) inside the Aperture package may be missing. SO I cannot really tell, if the problem is with the system or with Aperture.
I assume you have done all ritual fixes like rebooting, Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM,
You might try to reinstall Snow Leopard and see, if that fixes it. If not, contact Apple and ask for an Aperture installer.

  • Aperture 2.1.4 with Snow Leopard opens but unable to customize toolbar. Nothing happens when I select view/customize.

Installed 2.1.4 on an iMac with 3GB Ram using 10.6.8 OSX.
    Experiencing two problems for now.
    1. Attempts to customize toolbar has no response. The boxes appear but no screen with the tools to import.
    2. I did the standard install over AP 1.5 and all library photos for 1.5 appear in 2.1.4 but
when opening a project/folder picture it will open and the "Loading" message appears but the wheel is not moving?
I'm using 2.1 over 3.0 because I have it and not ready to spend more until I get this working. I plan to go to LION OSX
    once Aperture functons correctly.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Updated to snow leopard and had the same problem that when the thumbnails where placed on the bottom I could only scroll left or right when no picture was marked... so I placed the thumbnails to the left side and scrolling worked normally even with a a marked picture...I also had bad color sync problems and switching screens would cause my windows to become almost black and unreadable..... I reinstalled my Leopard clone drive shortly there after... oh well... it took a while before leopard was ready for professional use.... I didn't really expect Snow leopard to be different... I will check back in at 10.6.4 or so LOL

  • I am using Aperture 3 and recently installed an update from Apple. After restarting the computer and opening Aperture all of the "colour" is gone from the toolbar and events icons. How can I rest the colours?

How can i reset the colors of Aperture toolbars and event icons? They have all gone grey.

Have you just upgraded to Aperture 3.3 or later? The grey design is a feature, ot a bug
See the Release Notes: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2518 (Aperture 3.3)
Newly designed monochrome source list and toolbar icons.
The only way to change it, would be to manually replace the icons by colored ones in the Aperture application itself. You would have to patch the application bundle and to exchange some of the tiff files in the "Resources" folder.
And each time there is an update you would have to start over.
There are quite a few discussions on this, see:

I have just purchased Aperture 3.4.5 and notice that the Inspector pane and Toolbar are in greytones.  No Colour !! any ideas?

It has been this way since Aperture 3.3. It is not bug, but a feature. New designed icons to fit in with the grey design of Lion and Mt. Lion.
And sorry, there is no built-in option to restore the colorful look of previous Aperture version.

  • Toolbar in Aperture gone..!

Very weird problem since I have installed Leopard.

  • Aperture 3 is not displaying pictures or projects properly and I am unable to see my ratings toolbar.  Help!!

I am unable to see the ratings display and all photos are formatted improperly in the regular display format of the program.  Only in fullscreen format am I able to view all tools otherwise they are shoved out of view from my display so I am unable to navigate the program at all.

For UI problems like these the first step is to move out the Aperture preference file.
See Aperture 3 Troubleshooting the bit about the preference file is about 1/2 way down the page.
If that doesn't solve it post back.

  • Latest Aperture update - all icons on toolbar now grey

The latest update to Aperture has left me with all icons in grey, there is no colour. Everything still works but it all looks very dull!

    Peter,
I am always on the lookout for Murphy, and so:
I put a copy of the resources folder on my desktop (can always go back to the default 3.3 icons)
I then copied over the individual icons I wanted from my earlier version to the 3.3 resources folder - for me , this was the smart album, the new smart album TIFFs, the Album and new album TIFFs etc
Just open Aperture and there they are.
Could probably just copy the lot (and revert to the saved copy of 3.3 resources folder if needed), but I didn't.
Could probably save the set in a separate "colour icons" folder in case this needs to be done again with upgrades to Aperture.
Such a simple work around Apple will surely make this an option in a new release.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • How do I find the history of sent photos in aperture?

Where do I find the list of where I have sent a photo directly from Aperture.  I am wondering if I sent a photo to a certain email and I would like to look it up to see if I already sent it.

Great question and one of Aperture's strengths:
New ('+' icon in toolbar) > Smart Album > Add Rule (upper right of smart album dialog) > select Photo Usage > place check-mark in box at left of rule > set to: 'has been' and 'Emailed' in the drop-down menus.
    That should do it.

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original?   Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture:  a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made.  (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack.  A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack.  This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick.  If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album.  Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick".  (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.)  The change is immediate.  The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.
