Aperture 3.0.3 - displaying map in Places broken?
Hi there,
since yesterday I cannot use Places any more since it doesn't shop up the map any more - seems like some reference is broken or so since everyting works fine, I can drag images to the invisible map and zoom but there just is no map visible.
Anyone got the same problem?
Striatum
This has started happening to me as well, just recently. It appears from what I can see that all the photos are tagged with their place information and I can assign new photos to places by selecting them typing in a location into the search field and then tapping "Assign Location."
I just don't see any maps. No maps of any kind from anywhere not from within the Projects themselves, from under Places in the top of the sidebar, and not from within the Assign Location menu item. (Metadata>Assign Location).
I have Rebuilt my database, Repaired my database, and this seems to be a Aperture wide problem as my other Aperture Library is having exactly the same problem.

Maps in Places not displayed correctly
The Map in Places never loads completely – there are always blank squares, like when you attempt to use Google Maps with very flaky internet connection. Interestingly, this happens only in Terrain Mode. Satellite and Hybrid modes look allright.
The problem appears regardless of zoom level, geographical place or windows size. It’s just there, half the map missing. If I zoom in, the blanked area is rendered, but a new blank square appears elsewhere in the map window. Has anybody got similar experience?
P.S. I am of course running up-to-date software and I have reliable internet connection.Try the easy fix first: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try againl.
Next launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last three options. -
Is it possible to replace XSLT mapping in place of Graphical mapping
Is it possible to do XSLT mapping in place of Graphical mapping, in any normal scenario?
Means the fuctionality we do by using Graphical mapping(like the operations by using node functions etc...) could possible to do with XSLT Mapping?HI
yes it is possible to replace the graphical mapping with the XSLT mapping.
But using XSLTs degrade the performance of the interface and moreover they are not easily maintainable.

When using private browsing to view image results in Safari 5.1.3, only the first two rows of results are visible, the following four or so rows display greyed out place holders, the remainder of the results page is blank, and the safe search button is inoperable. When I turn off private browsing and refresh the page, everything works again.
Anyone else having this problem?I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works. -
File to File without a Mapping in place ?
Hi All,
Would it be possible to tranfer a file from one destinaiton to another destination without a need to have a mapping in place. Its more of replicating a file at a source to a destination where in there is no need for mapping. But while creating such a scenario, during configuration time, an interface mapping needs to be provided which inturn needs a message mapping.
Regards,

I have just added an album to my iTunes from a CD. But the tracks are now displayed in 2 places in my iTunes library -- as if I had downloaded 2 seperate albums. How do I consolidate them into a single album in my iTunes?
Did you use the same method to add each of the six albums to your library? With some of iTunes configuration options, some imports (CDs, Store purchase, use of the Automatically add to iTunes folder) will go into the standard media folder location, but the other methods to add media files already on your PC (Add File to Library..., Add Folder to Library..., drag and drop) will leave the files in their original spot.
The other factor that may influence where iTunes locates media files is the setting of the "part of a compilation" flag in the media metadata. When this flag is set iTunes (when configured to organize your media and copy all additions to the media folders) will place files in iTunes Media\Music\Compilations\album_title rather than iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_title. -

Floating point display mapping
To avoid negative values I convert my images to floating point when they are full 16 bit.
But now i have another problem. De 16 bit display mapping function does not work. I i want to display a range of pixels (ex. grey values 40000 - > 50000) nothing happens. Is there a way to display a floating point image with a function like there is for 16 bit images (given range) without converting the actual pixels.This VI does only what the 16 bit display mapping function does (exept that there is an error made in this VI). The included 16 bit image is not full 16 bit (min = 176, max = 4095, only 15 bits are used). In attachment I included for you a full 16 bit image (values from 0 -> 65536) Imaq will read this as values ranging from -32768 -> 32767.
If you open this Image with the VI you suggested you will get a full black 8 bit image. The original image is a gray gradient from black to white.
The error in this VI is that the casting to I32 has to be done before you use the max-min function.
Otherwise you get 32767 -(-32768) = -1 because you have an overflow with I16.
This VI is not a solution because we have to analyze full 16 bit images for
there real gray values.
So if we convert the image to 8 bit we loose information. So if we take a line profile or a histogram it is difficult to use if the image is full 16 bit.
I can not understand why a signed data type is used for images. Images don't have negative values.
This is not the first time I mentioned this. I hope that NI understands the problem.

Photoshop Elements 11 Map in Places within Organizer
I do not have a map in Places for Photoshop Elements 11. The screen is black where the map should be.
Hey,
It's good to hear that your problem is resolved now.
Just wanted to let you know that there are no known compatability issues between PSE10 and PSE11. If maps weren't loading in Organizer that may be because of some other issue. Could you please let me know your OS info?

How to display 2 decimal places using DecimalFormat?
Hi, i would like to display an account balance from database using child.getAccountBal(). Before that, i want to use DecimalFormat to display 2 decimal places. I would like to know whether the codes below are correct. Can anybody guide me? Thanks.
public static double roundTo2DecimalPlaces(double value){
DecimalFormat df = new DecimalFormat("0.##");
double d = df.format(value);
System.out.println(d);
return value;
And inside the jsp page...is that how i call the values?
Account Balance: <%=roundTo2DecimalPlaces(child.getAccountBal())%>DecimalFormat's format method returns a String not a double,
os you must return a String instead of a double.
public String roundTo2DecimalPlaces(double value)
DecimalFormat df = new DecimalFormat("0.00");
String stringValue = df.format(value);
return stringValue;
<%= roundTo2DecimalPlaces(child.getAccountBal()) %> -
Displaying 2 decimal places in BI Answers column, using SQL_TSI_HOUR
Hi,
Would anyone know why the following code refuses to display 2 decimal places in a BI answers report:
' case when "- Job Detail"."Date Delivered" is null or "- Job Detail"."Date Received" is null then 'Not Available' else cast (ROUND(cast(timestampDiff(SQL_TSI_HOUR, "- Job Detail"."Date Received","- Job Detail"."Date Delivered") as double),2) as char) end '.
Thanks,
- Jennyinstead of * 1440
do with
* 1440.00
btw: why you need to cast to date? why cant be timestamp?

Hi,
I am using Java RMI to control a unix solaris Java application from a xp Java application on a PC. While I could have the unix side send the pc side data which would be displayed in the usual way on the PC, I was wondering if there is a way to have the unix side display the data and somehow map the display to show up on the the PC side.
Acutually I am re-doing an application which was originally only on the unix side, so I might save a lot of code if I could do a unix display to pc display mapping (perhaps outside of the Java environment). This woudl be especially useful since not all the unix java methods work on XP java (like jFileChooser which is a documented bug).
Thanks in advance for your help,
Techy613Assuming I understand his question correctly, here is
the scenario:
You have an application running on a machine, and it
has a GUI. Now you want to be able to have the
application's GUI appear on the screen of one or more
remote clients, while the application continues to
operate on the server machine.
People who's development experience is from a Unix
type OS environment are quite familiar with this
ability. First it they had telnet, for console based
applications, later they got XWindows, for GUI
applications.
Java display remoting however, is like XWindows on
steroids. The display and presentation code now
actually execute on the client. The open source
project I lead
at java.net not only can do this, but with no
architectural impact to the application itself. It
can remote the GUI as an applet, or as an application
via WebStart.
I hope that helped,
JohnIn my case, I need the java application to do file I/O on the unix server side, not the XP client side. I just need the gui to appear on the XP client side. John, would the cajo environment automatically support this scenario?
Thanks,

Displaying maps in MapViewer at a defined scale
Dear all
Is it possible to display maps in MapViewer 10.2.1 at a defined scale? For example 1:10,000; 1:5,000; 1:2,500 and so on.
If so does the Oracle MapViewer map scale refer to a representative fraction value? If not does anyone here know what the MapViewer map scale does refer to?
I have attempted to calculate the map units for a complete map but as my ground distance is in metres, I converted by display size to metres. Is that okay or does MapViewer requires it to be keep in inches?
Converting to metres I got a value of 7877.8229644371376654841221770792.
If I stayed with inches I get 200.09670329670329670329670329672
Would I be right in thinking that for raster maps whose image dpi is not 72dpi, you use the dpi value of the raster map image and not 72dpi.
Kind regards
TimJoao,
Having thought your answer it would work, it didn't. Having read through the MapViewer manual, I can find no reference to scale with regard to centre. There is just size.
Using scale I got an error message which I've posted below. However as soon as I changed it to size I got no error message, although I get a blank screen no matter which number I've used.
The error using scale is:
