Aperture 3.1.2 will fails on start-up (using 10.6.7)

I recently purchased Aperture and used it to some success early on. I believe after the last OS X update (I can't be positive), it began failing before it started. I'd click on the icon to start, and now I just get a crash report or something that looks like it came out of the Console.
Any ideas?

I've had the same problem with the same software.
Here's what I read and tried that did not help in my situation, but maybe it will help on your system:
booting in 32-bit mode open (Get Info on Aperture and select Booting in 32-bit)
deleting Aperture serialization file
starting Aperture with CMD-Option-click and trying all three rebuild options
re-installing the appliaction and the recent updates
Here is what made the problem go away temporarily:
turning off AirPort allowed the application to open
however, turning AirPort on AFTER Aperture opened made it crash again within minutes
At last this is what stopped Aperture from crashing upon loading for me:
deleting the Preferences file .com.apple.Aperture.plist file from ~/Library/Preferences
Note, however, that after I did that last step that made MY crashes stop, I now have a smaller but more complicated crahsing issue with Aperture - trying to authenticate via the Facebook plugin is causing Aperture to constantly crash (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3119025). It doesn't impact any other aspect of Aperture - it works totally fine when I don't try to upload any photos to facebook.

CSACS servcies fail to start when using domain user account

I have installed CSACS 3.3 on a member server in a Windows 2003 domain. The member server is running Server 2003, too.
I created a user account in Active Directory and configured the CSACS services to log on as this account. Through Group Policy I granted the user the "log on as a service" and "act as part of the operating system" privileges per the Installation Guide for Cisco Secure ACS for Windows. I verefied that the policy has taken affect on the CSACS server.
The CSACS services fail to start as this user account. The error messages are non-specific. If I add the user to the local administrators group the services start just fine.
Anybody know what I might be missing?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm running into the exact same problem. Same version of ACS and everthing. CSLog is the only service that started.

Admin Server 4 fails to start up with new Internet Protocol (IP) address

By default, the Netscape Admin Server 4.x uses the Internet Protocol (IP)
address that was entered in its configuration at the time the server was
installed. However, if a system administrator decides to change the IP address,
the server will fail to start. 

The following is an example of the error message: 

# ./start-admin

startup failure: could not bind to port 4050, IP address 208.12.45.56 (Invalid
Argument)
The error log will show:

Server in Console (by clicking the Configuration tab, clicking the Network tab,
selecting Process Settings, and then selecting IP Address), the server will
also fail to start. The following are examples of the error message and error

Hi Laurent,
although I was given the advice earlier that I should simply take the machine back to the shop, or call the help centre, I ended up just praying that it would be OK. A couple of days after I posted the message I think there was an update to download and install, just a regular one from Apple from the Software Update option for the operating system or it may have been one for Final Cut Pro X, and once it installed I never had the problem again, so my prayers were answered.
It was pretty scary at the time because I thought it must be some hardware malfunction, but because it was resolved through an update it suggested it was a software issue. Hopefully it is the same with you.
I'm now running 10.7.2 and have had no recurrence of the problem in many months, thankfully.
It might have nothing to do with it, but the only other two things that may have somehow caused errors in the system startup (and I doubt these will be "unrelated" to people who know how computers work better than I do, but I feel I should mention them just in case), but I also updated Final Cut Pro X from a glitchy version to version 10.0.2 around the same time, and I also had an application installed which didn't function correctly in OS10.7 called PowerController (a simple app that can start up the computer at a set time and play music from iTunes as an alarm clock) and it was in the group of apps that were set to start at the starting up of the computer.
Anyway, I hope your problem is resolved as easily. Pray about it too!

Device failed to start (Code 10)

Here's a mind bender for you.
Hope the collective consciousness can provide some insight.
The configuration:
TBird 1333
Epox 8k5a2+ (KT333)
512MB DDR
2x 40GB Maxtor HDD
several GF4 4200's
SB Live Player
DLink DFE 530-TX
400W power suppply
Windows XP Pro
The problem:
A seemingly random time after a clean Win-install, the Geforce4 driver will fail to start upon boot. Desktop will appear in 640x480 resolution 4 bit color, or, very rarely if I'm lucky, in 800x600x256.
In Device Manager the following error is displayed for the display adapter: "The device failed to start (code 10)". Translated, that means the driver could not start due to the hardware being absent.
Before this failure everything would work just fine, system is 100% stable. There is no traceable event that seems to trigger this problem.
After this failure there is no way to fix the system except to format and re-install or restore from a Ghost image taken before the trouble started. Well, there was one occasion where I was fed up with it one day, turned it off and when I powered up the next day it was working again (yes, I have a witness). Windows System Restore occasionally works too, mostly does not.
Things I have tried:
Two different motherboards, one KT333, one KT133A, same problem.
All versions of BIOS of both boards (even modified ones)
APIC and PIC IRQ modes.
All unneeded devices (serial ports etc.) disabled
Vga card has it's own IRQ, not shared
Different versions of Detonator drivers
Different VIA 4 in 1 drivers
With and without XP SP1
This happened with 3 different 4200's now, VisionTek, Leadtek, and now MSI. Other (older) VGA card in same system, no problem.
Some other thoughts:
The fact that a restore from backup CD fixes the problem is a good indication that this is a software malfunction.
Does anybody have any idea what could possibly be causing this?
This has been going on for over a month now and I'm fed up. If I can't resolve this soon I will have to switch over to the Dark Side, as much as I would hate to.

try uninstalling all drivers under device manager even the hidden ones, and make sure its uninstalled in add/remove programs
then restart
let windows find the card, restart
then install ur Det drivers
rushing the computer on this one causes all sorts of problems, i did the same thing

IPhone 4 Fails to Start Sync Wifi, Smart Playlists Won't Sync Wifi or Wired, and Missing Artwork iTunes Screensaver

I recently deleted a few gigs worth of photos off my iPhone 4. Ever since I've been having trouble with a few things. All software is up to date. So far here are the things I've noticed that seem suspicious.
iPhone fails to start sync using wifi. It times out on Step 1 (starting sync) or Step 2 (backup). I've tried closing and reopening iTunes, restarting the MBP and iPhone, and deleting my iPhone backup. In some cases iTunes loses the connection to phone and won't come back. It syncs fine using a USB cable, but won't get past step 2 using wifi. I hate wires so I would prefer to do this over the air.
My smart playlists no longer sync. I've tried unchecking the boxes and selecting them again, but nothing. Duplicating an exisitng smart playlist and selecting it to sync seems to have worked for now, but I'm concerned about now being able to add my original playlist. Sounds like a larger issue to me.
My iTunes screensaver on my MBP no longer displays artwork. It says there is no artwork to display, but iTunes still has artwork in it.
I've read numerous threads about all these issues. I know there are many people out there having these problems. I just haven't found a good solution for any of them. Everything was working beautifully until I tried to clean up some old stuff on my phone. Apple is playing dumb according to the people that have contacted them.
I'm running:

iTunes 10.6.3

Got the dreaded "sync session failed to start"

OS 10.6.8, iPhone 4, OS 5.01, iTunes 10.5.1 (42).
Woke up this AM to find my iPhone battery completely drained (never happened and have no idea why). Charged up to halfway and did a sync. Sync session failed to start.
Used my regular user, etc. Had synced only a few days ago.
Never have seen this problem, ever.
Tried a restore (twice) nothing changed. All I have in my phone now are contacts and base apps. Nothing else.
No issues with iTunes of my computer, though I did notice while doing a restore a couple little squiggles of garbage text (very small in gray) up the the left of the software install box.
Do I have to submit to a complete uninstall and install of iTunes (not the easiest to do) to enable the phone to eventually sync correctly again?
Read through other posts on this topic and most were on Windows machines, though I tried by deleting the last backup (no luck) The last full back up I have is one from Aug 2009 (when I bought this phone).
Should I delete all backups? and try again?
Was this related to the severe battery drain?

Tried the oddest suggestion yet from another thread on this same error message and it seems to have worked!
Went to:
Settings => Phone => My Number
in my iPhone and deleted the +1 front of my phone number. Phone is now syncing as we speak.
Is this a bug with the new OS?

Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
2) Restarted computer and still got error message
3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
5) Restarted computer.
6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.

After updayting fire fox the applixation will not open I get a message that says the application failed to start because its side -by - side configureation is in correct. please see event log or use the command sxstrace.exe tool for more detail

Seems to be caused by a corrupted Visual C++ installation (multiple versions can be installed side-by-side; SxS).
You can try to use the sxstrace.exe tool to see if you can find which files are missing or corrupted and (re)install missing Visual C++ libraries.

Your media should be safe, though you should backup routinely anyway.

That one is a DirectX 8 module and might not be included in the most recent DirectX 9 redistributable available from Microsoft. If it's been installed as part of a partial DirectX 8 install (as part of a game for example), that can cause the issue. Can you track down a full DirectX 8 redistributable? If so, if you install that, does that clear up the iTunes error?
