Aperture 3.2.2 update - Serial no# required?

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded Aperture v3 to v3.2.2 from the App Store.
When I now start up the application it requires a serial number?
I downloaded this application originally from the App Store and do not recall receiving any serial number?
Where can I find this?
Thanks
Andrew

Applications loaded from the App Store do not require serial numbers, your Apple ID is used for verification so you have something strange going on.
First how did you originally purchase Aperture and what version did you start? Did you ever have the trial version installed?
If you really did buy it originally from the App Store then I suggest you delete the Aperture Application (drag the Aperture from the Applications folder to the trash) and then reinstall from the App Store. If that doesn't clear this up post back.
good luck

  • Unable to install Aperture 2.1.4 update on Snow Leopard

    Hi Folks,
I have Aperture 2.1 installed on my Mac. When I try to install the 2.1.4 update, it quits by saying "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update". And Snow Leopard wouldn't let me launch Aperture without this update. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any known workarounds?
This is a clean install of Snow Leopard and Aperture.
Also, Software Update doesn't show the Aperture 2.1.4 update either.
    Thanks,
    Deepak
p.s. As a workaround I am downloading the full 2.1.4 trial which I'll use with my retail serial.

I have been having the same difficulties since installing Snow Leopard. When I perform a "software update" Aperture updates are not listed. I manually downloaded the 2.1.4 update and was then unable to install it for the same reason as above; the original 2.1 version is not recognized as even existing on the computer.
Interestingly, I have the same issue with Safari. The program disappeared from my Mac Pro during the upgrade to Snow Leopard and when I downloaded the latest Safari program and tried to install it, the installer informed me that I had to have OS X v10.5.8 or newer in order to install this program; all partitions on the computer were indicated to be unsuitable for installation including the system (10.6.2) partition. This problem persists. So what gives?
    Thanks for any help

  • Aperture 3.4.5 - update from previous version not working

Hi, I have updated Aperture to 3.4.5 via the App Store update and now it won't startup correctly.  I get this...
I started with Aperture 2 via disk install and then upgrade to V3 via the App store, all other updates have worked fine.
    Any ideas guys?
I can use Time Macjine to go back a version and get things working again but this is preventing any further updates and enhancements from being applied.
    Thanks.

In previous versions of Aperture it helped to trash it and to install it again from the App Store (don't empty the Trash), when Aperture was asking for the serial number.
I don't know, however, if it will still help with the new AP 3.5.

  • Aperture 2.1.4 update will not load after Snow Leopard update

Has any one found the fix for aperture 2.1.4 update not loading after the installation of Snow Leopard. I to am also getting the alert "aperture 2.0 or later is required to install the update". I installed my copy of aperture 2.1 using the installer with no problems so the program is in the correct location. I've seen the posts related to this problem and it does not seem a fix has been found.

Just ran into this myself. I did check to see if there was a preference to delete under ~/Library/Preferences and one is not created since 2.1 is never actually launched. 2.1 is sitting in the root of Applications and hasn't been renamed, but the 2.1.4 update just doesn't detect that it is there and just gives the alert "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update."

  • What's wrong with the Aperture 2.1.3 Update?

    Hi,
I downloaded the Aperture 2.1.3 Update but am unable to update my existing Aperture 2.0.1 version. Whe I try to run the installer, I get the following message: "Aperture 2.0 or later is required to install this update."
Any suggestion or help is appreciated.

    Hi,
I did, thanks for the link. I tried all that, nothing worked It's kind of frustrating to have the Aperture 2.0 version and not being able to update. The automatic Apple software update doesn't recognize the need for an update so I tried to do it manually. I never moved or renamed this application, it has been in the Applications folder from the beginning.
I don't have the time or energy to figure this out. It worked in the past with the 1.x.x version. I also tried with lower updates (2.1.x), same problem. Should I maybe de-install Aperture and try to install it again? Would that help?

  • FCP update - serial number not valid

Hi all, I recently bought final cut studio 2.0 from someone second hand.
I am trying to download the update but when it asks for my serial number, it says it is not valid. I've tried several times and double checked the information entered.
Is there any way around it? Or is it because it is a second hand copy?

If you had FCS already installed prior to the update, and it was working, and after the update you were required to reenter the serial, then it definitely sounds like you have a pirated serial. I can't remember which update, but a couple months ago Apple released an update that invalidated any serial it knew was floating around the net. If you have a valid serial (not on the list of pirated keys), you would not have seen the enter license window.
When you bought FCS, you should have been given EVERYTHING that normally comes in the package: Shipping Box, manuals, install DVDs with the serial number on the front of the "Installing Your Software" manual/insert. There will be no document for you to copy and paste from.
If you have one of the serials that was released to the wild, contact Apple and tell them what happened. If you fax them the cover of the install manual, proving you have a legit copy, they will give you a new, valid number.
Buying 2nd hand from e-Bay or such, has been know to result in exactly this kind of problem.
In the mean time, you will have to downgrade the version of your install (preferably by reinstalling from the DVDs), but first deleting ANY and ALL FCS folders and files.
    My condolences..
    Good Luck

  • The iPod "my ipod name" cannot be updated. The required file is in use.

Installed iTunes 7 on my mac. Everything went fine. Updated my ipod everything went fine. Ever since then I've been getting a dialogue pop up window stating "The iPod "my ipod name" cannot be updated. The required file is in use."
This pop up happens at completely random intervals, sometimes every minute sometimes every 10 min.
Its extremely annoying as it bounces the icon in the dock until I give iTunes focus, click ok, and then I can navigate songs etc. I listen to my music thru my iPod while its connected to my computer, so this bug just about has me reverting back to v6.
I've repaired permissions, and disabled anything I could think of that may be using it, ie synergy etc, with no success.

I have a 4th Gen 30gb IPOD and updated Itunes 7 sucessfully but could not update/install IPOD 1.2 upgrade.
Eventually after clicking the message boxes with the above info we seem to be getting, I selected the update button that appears on the front page of ITUNES and it installed/updated. I have been attempting for a couple of days and it just worked!!!!
After it completed, I received the same dialog box and then disconnected the IPOD from my laptop.
Seems to be OK now but there is def something going on.
I thought it may be a shareware issue with mp3's being downloaded into Itunes library form another application.

  • IPod "cannot be updated. The required file is in use."

Since updating to iTunes 7 the program keeps saying that "The iPod "iPod name" cannot be updated. The required file is in use." When I click on “OK” it does in fact update. I tried to restore the iPod but couldn’t do it from within iTunes but I could exit iTunes and run the most recent update/restore on it from the desktop.
Also, I can not eject the Nano from within iTunes “iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application.” But I can exit iTunes and eject it from the desktop. I don’t have this problem with an older 40 gig iPod.
I called Apple and they promised to send a work around but it never came.
    Running on a G4 with 10.4.7
    Any suggestions?
Dual Processor G4 & G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I do have three users using the same iTunes library.

I just started getting this message today - the only new thing I have done differently since I last synced is to start rating my songs on the iPod.
Just a hunch but did everyone else start getting this error after their first try at rating songs on the iPod?
Other than that does anyone know how to report this kind of thing to Apple? as they need to fix it soon.
The only answer I have seen after 2 hours of searching is to go back to iTunes v6.05 - see Chad Armstrong's tip here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3116292&#3116292 - but I can't be bothered to go through all that just yet.

  • "ipod cannot be updated becuase the required file is in use"

I upgraded to itunes 7 this weekend and so did my husband. I am running the latest versions of all mac software with my fifth gen ipod and he is running the same with the ipod mini. We both get teh same error message:
"ipod cannot be updated becuase the required file is in use"
I have tried the following with and without guidance from tech support:
    Reboot
    repair permissions
"restore" on the ipod using itunes 7
    reinstalling itunes 7
trying to reinstall itunes 6 instead
removing login in items from automatically starting
    disabling firewall/antivirus
I stumped tech support yesterday. Anyone else having a similar problem?

I'm another one who is having this problem. Though it doesnt seem to effect the downloads or the files, it pops up every so often. Cant figure out what file its referring to or what cant be updated. Def has to do with the latest version of iTunes.

  • IPod cannot be updated...required file cannot be found

I have the latest iPod software and iTunes. When I plug my 5G ipod into my computer, after it transfers a few new songs, I get the following pop-up message:
"The iPod 'name of iPod' cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found."
When I click OK, it continues updating and seems to be fine. It is just an annoyance, becauce I can't just plug in my iPod and come back to a finished update.
    Any tips? Thanks!

I am having this exact problem.
Though what will also happen after I click on "ok" the ipod will disconnect it self from itunes; it remains pluged in and the "do not disconnect" icon is shown on the screen, but it just stays like that from any where from 2-30 minutes. Eventually it will reconnect and start updating again untill the "The iPod 'name of iPod' cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found." message comes up and the whole prosses starts over again, this has made updating the ipod which I have already reset, quite a headache to update, the prosses has not yet been compleated as I cannot be at my computer for mor than a few hours at a time. I also reinstalled itunes to see if that would fix the problem it has not. Though before, I would also get the message "an unknown error has occured." now that dosen't seem to appear, so at least that is fixed.
    Please help!

  • Error message: iPod cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found.

Each time I sync my 5th generation iPod to my laptop and open iTunes, I get the message "iPod cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found." My husband already updated my iPod with the most current Updater (6/28/06). Any thoughts or suggestions?

After looking further into the archives, I got an answer to my question. There is a file called "iPod Photo Cache", located in the Pictures folder, that should be moved to Trash. Once done, the error message pops up no more!

So I just updated my itunes with the new 7.0 and everything works great, except-- every 10 mins or so, I get this error message "The ipod "xxx's ipod" cannot be updated. The required file is in use."
Nothing happens, I just have to click "ok", but its really annoying. And it pops up again in a few minutes.
I seem to remember this happening before on another update but I don't remember what I did.
Anyone else experiencing this or know what to do?
    Thanks!!

I am having the exact same problem -- Itunes version 7 update seems to have created this issue. I get this error message about every five minutes if my Ipod is plugged into my computer, "Ipod cannot be updated. Required file is in use." Super annoying. I noticed a solution posted on this forum but it doesn't seem to work for Macs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • "The iPod **** cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found" Error

    Hello,
Upon doing a 'zero-all bits' reformatting of my 5G iPod with Disk Utility and using the 'Restore' feature in iTunes 7, every time I sync my iPod with iTunes, I get an error message after the sync in the form of
"The iPod ** cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found"
and photos, contacts, and calendars are not synchronizing. I tried a second 'Restore' attempt but to no avail. Previous to reformatting my 5G iPod, I've not seen this error message.
I would be grateful if someone could offer any clues. Many thanks.

    A little update.
Upon reinstalling iTunes 7, deleting my iTunes-related .plist files, and reparing permissions on my hard drive, I can now sync my contacts and calendars with my 5G iPod.
As for Photos, the "required file cannot be found" error seems to be due to the default setting in the 'Photos' tab, 'Sync photos from:' pull-down menu to 'iPhoto'. If I choose my 'Pictures' folder, photo synchronizing works, albeit including everything in my iPhoto library, including originals and modified versions of the photos.
I can only surmise that the default setting for synchronizing photos is somehow buggy in iTunes 7. I guess I'll just wait for an update.
