  • Aperture 2.1.2 will not start

I have difficulty in getting Aperture to start. I receive the splash screen but that is all I get. In order for the application to work I need to reboot the MBP. The application will come up. However, I close the application and attempt to restart it will not do so.
I have read other comments that you need to reinstall the latest version or reinstall Aperture. Several questions:
    1. how do I complete a reinstall of an update? Where do I get the update?
    2. is there some thing else that should be completed to make Aperture more dependable?
    Thanks

I also had the same problem. Can't use the app as it never gets past the splash screen. However I just found the cause.
Having gone through many of the above steps without success, I thought about what you said above ericNL. My current set up is as follows:
    a) I have the Aperture library on the system internal HDD (Macintosh HD).
    b) I use Time Machine backups onto an external Firewire 800 HDD, but I exclude the Aperture library from this.
    c) I keep two separate vaults updated. One is on the same Firewire 800 HDD above. The other is on a NAS server elsewhere on LAN (a Netgear ReadyNAS, which supports AFP protocol).
I have a script that runs on my account login to auto-mount my NAS shares via AFP. I recently changed this to also auto-mount the share where I keep the vault. This is the problem! To start Aperture 2.1.2 successfully I just unmounted the share, and it works fine. I've gone back to my previous workflow, which is I manually mount the AFP share on the NAS once Aperture is already running, prior to updating the vaults. This works fine again.
I was going to raise a support call about this "bug" but I suspect the answer will be that Aperture vaults are not supported on anything other than a Firewire drive, if you RTFM. A bit dumb in my opinion as it makes a lot of sense to use a remote disk as a vault, even on Apple hardware like a Time Capsule or HDD plugged into an Airport Extreme. Otherwise you are tied to vaults on disks physically next to your Mac, then you have to rotate them physically elsewhere etc.
    Hope that helps.

  • Aperture 3.4.3 will not start/crashes

    Aperture freezes up when I open it.  Other than updating iTunes, I cant think of any other program that was updated or installed since it last worked.  Some of the things I have tried;
I have tried unistalling, then reinstalling from the App Store.  (Tried this about 12 times so far!!)
I tried opening the iPhoto library.  I got the most current picturs, but still froze!
I went to system prefences, user and groups and stopped all other log in programs from starting.
Aperture still freezes everytime I try and open it.  I even tried opening iPhoto a few times and it freezes up now when I start it!
    Please help!!
    Thank you!

I tried opening iPhoto on the same library, thats when it locks up the same as Aperture.  I tried iPhoto with a different library (old Aperture library)...it froze again.
I tried iPhoto with a new library and added some pictures.  It works now....but all my pictures are in the other library (over 40k/226GB).   I tried Aperture with a new library and it seems to be working, but I still have the problem of all my other/older pictures on the other library that I can’t open.
"Does Aperture launch and work correctly, when you hold down the "Shift" key while launching it? (This will defer the generation of previews)."
Nope still locks up....it seems to be trying to work and works slow for the first minute or so...then it just seems to freeze up.
Can you launch Aperture from a different user account on a new test library?
    Yes
    Thanks for any input!

  • On my RMBP (10.8.2) Aperture 3.4.3 won't start due to a database error

On my RMBP (10.8.2) Aperture 3.4.3 will not start due to a database error.  Command+Option start of Aperture is giving me the same error and not giving me a repair/rebuild choice.  My iPhoto library (migrated from iPhoto to Aperture a couple of weeks ago) is kept on an external LaCie SSD which I have been unmounting when I take the MBP to work.  I did notice earlier today that I had a '/Volumes/LaCie' and '/Volumes/LaCie 1'.  Rebooting the MBP caused the '/Volumes/LaCie 1' to go away and I only see '/Volumes/LaCie' now.
The precise error I'm getting is "There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/LaCie/iPhoto Library”. "
    Suggestions?

It was in the middle of a Flickr sync and I disconnected the external LaCie cable (Thunderbolt) because I coult not get the disk to dismount because  Aperture had it open while sync'ing.  A lesson learned was to unset the automatic Flickr sync option from Aperture.
This can corrupt your Aperture library, and even the file system on the drive so that you may be unable to mount it. Really no good idea.
Aperture has a buil-in facility to stop running activities. Launch the Activity Viewer (from the main menu bar):
         Window > Show Activity.
In this window you can see the status of ongoing activities and may cancel them safely.

    Léonie

  • Aperture will not start without Internet

This question relates to Aperture 3.3.2
The cable company is doing some work on their lines behind my house. As a result my Internet connection has been up and down the past few days.
During one of the outages I tried to start Aperture and it wouldn't start. My only option was to force quit. I found a thread on this forum from someone having a similar problem. You can read it here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4080091?start=0&tstart=0
That person had a MobileMe account enabled in Aperture that Aperture was looking for. Aperture couldn't find it during start up and it hung just like mine did.
In my case, I don't have any web accounts enabled in Aperture. I also don't use any plugins for Aperture. Places is disabled as is Photostream. I've already switched over to iCloud so my old MobileMe accounts shouldn't be playing a role in this. If there is something enabled in Aperture that requires the Internet I have overlooked it.
According to Little Snitch the only network connection being made during the Aperture start up is to MDNSResponder.
This morning the Internet was down again so I started Aperture. It wouldn't complete the start up process so I just let it run with the box "Opening Aperture library" on my screen. As soon as the Internet came back Aperture completed the start up process and all was well.
I've used Aperture since 2006 and have been through numerous Internet outages but have never encountered this problem before. What is Aperture looking for that requires an Internet connection on start up? How do I turn it off so I can work offline?

    Problem I'm Getting is:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager
      Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:
/Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
No expert but from what I can tell theres some sort of bug or something in the PluginManager File as all the files appear to be there. Possible?
    Cheers.

  • Aperture 3.6 will not start after new install

Rebuilt my Mac Mini with a clean install of Yosemite 10.10.2 and reinstalled all my apps. Downloaded and installed Aperture from the App Store but it will not start. No crash, just nothing. Does its animated thing when double-clicked in Finder, and goes through the usual launch action from Launchpad, but then nothing. No icon in the dock, does not appear (even momentarily) in Activity Monitor. I have Final Cut Express installed and have seen other launch issues with this combo, but they all seem to result in an Aperture crash. Any ideas?

Did you install Final Cut Express after you installed MacOS X?  Then install Yosemite again on top of the current system, without reinstalling the applications. See: Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed
Aperture does not work after installing FCE, but if you reinstall MacOS X after installing FCE,  both Aperture and Final Cut Express sgizld work.
The download of Aperture may be incomplete. If reinstalling the system does not solve this, trash Aperture and download again.

  • Aperture will not start anymore

I bought and installed Aperture 3 over the App Store.
Initial install and running the program was no problem.
Upon launch now, the application will not start, reporting that "Aperture cannot be opened due to a problem".
The message also says I may need to re-install the software. Well how?
I think this started to happen after I got my iPad2 and selected to sync photos from Aperture, but I am not sure about that.
Even a reboot and with no other started applications, Aperture will not open.
I am running a Mac Mini Server (I bought it new in december 2010 in the Apple Store), running OS X server 10.6.7

  • Aperture 3 does not start

I bought Aperture 3 from Apple store, just downloaded the software does not start.
The icon flashes but does not open!
    What do I do?

Try running disk utilites and repairing permissions.
Try holding the Command + option key while  clicking on the Aperture icon to repair its permissions specifically
When I mentioned click on library itself I should of said locate the Aperture Library (pictures folder?) and double click on that to start aperture.  Also to open a lib  hold the option key and click on the Aperture icon.  A dialog should appear to choose the library.   Write back and tell us specfically what you did.  we need to know what you performed so we can eliminate options.  good luck

  • Aperture does not start after iphoto update

    Hello,
It seems that recent update to iphoto made Paerture not to start.
At first attempt, Aperture opened the window, but never went into normal and beach ball was over the blank window, no functions worked.
After Force quit, it does not start at all:
From dock it just silently does not start and from Launch pad the error:
"The application "Aperture" can't be opened
    -1712"
    is displayed.
What could this be and how to make Aperture working again.
This is Mavericks, 2012 MacBook Pro, Hires.
    Thanks a lot

    Computer reboot solved the issue.
    Aperture now sarts normally.

  • I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library?

I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library? I assumed that like  the videos in iPhoto, I would be able to access the videos in Aperture through iMovie. Come on Apple! I am starting to get frustrated with your products here. And this is saying a lot when I have been using and loving apple products for the last 4 years.

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.
    APPLE. What are you doing?

  • Creative Cloud Does Not Start - Help!

If anyone from Adobe is watching this.  I was considering switching from Aperture to Lightroom CC.  I was able to install the trial and it works fine.  However, all of a sudden, Adobe Creative Cloud App will not run.  The icon appears for a moment then disappears.
I have tried almost everything listed here - installing and uninstalling, Creative Cloud Cleaner, running as root, running in a new admin account and so on.  All are no goes.
I really would like to be your customer, but since I can't get live support, and I am not going to sign up only to find the paid CC does not work either, I hope you are able to help me.

    Refer this link :
Creative Cloud won't launch on Mac OS 10.10.3
    Still same ??
Try with solution provided in the first link I provided:
    Message from Danny :
    Success!
Hope this helps someone in the same situation. (This is for a Mac, OS 10.9.5)
    This is what I did.
Started the computer in SAFE MODE, Creative Cloud Desktop (CCD) started.
Restarted under regular user mode. CCD did not start.
Removed all login items from System Preferences > Users & Groups (I think this step could be skipped and only tried if the following doesn't work.)
Go to Library folder. Rename LaunchAgents folder to LaunchAgents_old and Launch Daemons folder to Launch Daemons_old
Create new folders called LaunchAgents and Launch Daemons.
Move all items NOT containing the name Adobe from the "old" folders and put them in their respective new folders.
Go to ~/Library and do the same thing with LaunchAgents folder.
Restart the computer and see if CCD opens. Mine DID!!!
Using the uninstall Creative Cloud, uninstall. Then reinstall CCD. (This should put new items in the LaunchAgent folders.)
Restart the computer and see if CCD works. Mine Did and I seem to be good to go.

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a computer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto or Aperture, both have its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you are an iMovie/ Final Cut user, both apps have their own individual Trash location that needs to be emptied, too!
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.
    http://www.omnigroup.com/more
    Also, Find Any File
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/downloadonyx.php
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

  • IPhoto does not start up with incompatible Prokit error

i installed the new version of iphoto 9.3 ( as prompted by software updates). post installation, iphoto does not start up. it throws an error " incompatible prokit framework".

I have Mac OS 10.8 too and it won't run the last versions of both iPhoto and Aperture. It does work with earlier versions (Aperture 3.2.2 and iPhoto 9.2.3).
I suggest you to downgrade iPhoto rather than the OS as in less than one week Mac OS 10.8 will be released and hopefully you will be able to update it and to run the last version of iPhoto with it.
By the way, I think that my grandmother upgraded to this new OS but I don't know how to downgrade it.. LOL

  • After reinstallation on a new computer program did not start

Why did the program not start after reinstallation on a new computer????

If my memory serves me correctly you can only have Aperture 3 installed on 1 computer at a time so if you have it installed on the original Mac and this new system at the same time it may give you a multiple installations detected warning or something of that nature.
    Best of luck.
That is correct however Aperture does allow multiple installs to allow a user to have Aperture running on one computer at a time. For example a photographer may have a MacPro notebook and and Mac Pro desktop. He can use the license when he's on a shoot in the field using the MBP while the Mac Pro sits dormant at home. The software is sophisticated enough to detect he's trying to run one license on multiple machines simultaneously. I have successfully migrated Aperture myself and use it on my iMac and MacBook Air however as stated only one machine at a time.
The OP mentions the machine is new to him, which complicates matters quite a bit. I hope he got the original media from the seller if he did not then there is a good chance he is running illegal software and was duped by the seller. The OP doesn't say where he got the iMac so I'm assuming he bought it used, if I am correct then this is one the problems of buying used, caveat emptor. If I'm incorrect (like maybe it was a hand-me-down from a relative) then all he needs to do is get the media and key code.
Apple is careful on it's licensing on it's professional software.

    '''(in English)'''

    Hi Danny,
Per my understanding that you can't get the expect result by using the expression "=Count(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4) " to count the the TICKET_STATUS which value is 4, the result will returns the count of all the TICKET_STATUS values(206)
    but not 180, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:
    =COUNT(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4 ,1,Nothing))
    or
    =SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.
