Aperture 3.4. not sharing library correctly

I have upgraded Aperture to 3.4.3 and Iphoto to 9.4.2. I used to do rough adjustments and albums with Iphoto, and then do the fine tuning with Aperture, but all of a sudden Aperture doesn't recognize latest imports and albums created in Iphoto.
It seems like the shared library it's "freezed" to some days ago, and since then iphoto and aperture work independtly on different libraries.
As far as I can tell I didn't change any setting, apaprt from upgrading as suggested.
Thank you for any hint/advice

Have you checked, what libraries Aperture and iPhoto are actually using? If Aperture and iPhoto are using different libraries, it may appear, as if images have been deleted. You can see the name of your current Aperture library at the top of the "Library" tab of the "inspector" panel.
And the current iPhoto Library will be highlighted and selected, when you use the command "File > Switch to Library" from iPhoto's main menu bar.
If you have imported into different libraries recently, then itis natural, that you do not see all images in both applications.
The first thing to do I'd recommend, is to make an inventory, which events and projects appear in which libraries, and to find out, if their actually are images missing from all libraries.

  • Aperture plugin does not create keywords correctly on previews

Keywording migration is different between previews and raw files.
"Non-face" keywording works as expected for raw files, but not for Aperture preview JPEGs. The preview JPEG seems to suffer with keywords.
The child, parent, and child/parent combo all seem to appear as keywords in the preview JPEG, whereas only the child keywords appear in the master (correct behavior).
This only seems to occur in JPEG previews of other Aperture modified JPEGs, not in original JPEGs or JPEG previews from raw files.
Face keywords show up correctly on JPEGs, but not on RAW files?  Could this be a link?  Seem to have different logic for raw vs preview, but neither work together on either raw or preview.
Raw: non-face keywords okay, only one face keyword per photo
JPEG previews: non-face keywords are a mess, all face keywords included

I am trying to import some existing JPEGs on my Desktop.
Do you mean your Desktop folder? And is the Desktop folder the only folder that is showing this behaviour?  I have never had problems to open images directly from the Desktop. Have the image files been dropped directly onto the the Desktop or into a subfolder of the Desktop?
Previous MacOS X versions had problems with a huge number of files on the Desktop because this folder has been treated in a special way.
Which version of Aperture and MacOS X are you using?
It might be a problem with permissions or file ownership.
If the problem with your Desktop folder persists you could try to reset the permissions, ownership, and access control lists on your Home folder as described in Linc Davis's post here:  Re: iPhoto returns OSStatus error -54
Have you by any chance encrypted your Home folder by File Vault?

  • Applets not sharing VM correctly in Java 7u4+

    Hi,
We have an application that uses multiple applets that need to be able to communicate with each other (ie. share a single java.exe). In 6u32 our application works as expected, however since installing Java 7, even when specifying a java_version = 1.6* we have found that our applets are intermittently no longer able to share a single VM. In these cases I see multiple java.exe in my task manager and our application cannot function correctly.
Has anybody seen this behaviour at all, or have any suggestions about how we can address it to ensure that our applets share a VM reliably?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure whether it will be possible to rewrite our inter-applet communication, indeed the below link indicates that what we are doing should work (and has done to date, but seemingly not under Java 7), but we'll investigate whether the applet context streams are what we need to be using.

  • Aperture will not open library - permissions not correct -- but they are

How do I get Aperture to open a library when I get an error message saying the permissions are not correct, but the permissions are correct, and other libraries open fine?
I was using Aperture current version with a library on an external drive connected via airport extreme. I imported about 15 images to an existing project in that library and was editing the images when Aperture closed suddenly. When I try to reopen the same library I get an error message that says Aperture does not have access to that library because the permissions are not correct. But the permissions are set to everyone read write. Aperture opens other libraries on the same drive with the same permission setting.
    1. I ran disk utility repair permissions -- it says it fixed permissions on my laptop internal drive, but disk utility does not recognize the external drive so apparently it did nothing on that drive. Same error message on that library.
    2. I deleted user name >> Library >> Preferences >> com.apple.Aperture.plist and tried opening the library again. Same error message.
    3. I tried rebuilding the library using control command Aperture. Same error message.
    4. I used "show package contents" on that library and moved the project I had been working on when Aperture crashed to another drive and created a new library and imported the project successfully. Works.
I read through existing topics and found suggestions like 1-4 but none work for me.
I would be grateful for any help!
    Thanks.

Please tell me you aren't trying to do this wirelessly!?!
If you're wired to the Airport Extreme, that's better, but forget about running a remote Aperture library on a wireless connection! Even wireless 802.11n isn't fast enough, though I'm sure someone will argue that.
Still, the Airport Extreme only has a USB interface, which is painfully slow! Firewire 800 is supported on all the new MacBook Pros and on the 17" "gen1" MacBook Pros. I'd highly recommend a FireWire 800 external hard drive or even a eSATA interface if you're running Aperture libraries remotely!!
Depending on your total storage needs, just replace your internal MacBook Pro's hard drive. I've replaced a few in the past couple of weeks in some MacBook Pros to the 320GB WD Scorpio drive. Also buy a cheap (~$20) external USB enclosure for your old hard drive to repurpose your old internal drive and aid the restoration of your data. Next install the drives and use Migration Assistant to restore your data to precisely where you were before the hard drive upgrade. Pretty easy except for the actual install of the hard drive in the MacBook Pro, which can be tricky and requires special Torx tools; certainly more complicated than the standard MacBooks. Unless you know what you are doing here, pay someone skilled to do this for you.
Seriously, I'm sure part of your problem is the lousy transfer speeds for Aperture trying to read data, causing data corruption, especially when you force quit so often.

  • How do I consolidate all this at this point: Icloud Drive, Itunes Match, Local iTunes Library, Local iPhoto, Local Aperture, Photo stream, Familly sharing, sharing on iOS, music sharing on iOS, music sharing on mac etc.

I am trying to grasp all the possibilities for consolidating my stuff and my family's stuff from multiple devices and multiple accounts from multiple sources  but I cant.
I have been reading many instructions and FAQ regarding iCloud Drive, iCloud Sharing, iTunes Match, Familly Sharing, file size limitations on iCloud Drive, app sharing on iOS, Backup vs Sync vs cloud sharing,  storing iWork documents on iCloud drive, storing iTunes library on iCloud Drive, storing iPhoto library on iCloud Drive, storing Aperture library on the iCloud, the Photos app on iOS with iCloud and many others.... but I feel like I need a systems admin course from apple to manage all of it.
This is what I and my family currently have:
Hardware: Multiple iPhones, Multiple Macs, Apple TV (with hard drive), Multiple iPads.
Operating systems: Everything is upgraded to the latest iOS and Yosemite.
    Libraries:
    1)  Multiple iTunes Libraries locally stored on Macs and IPhones with lossless CD music and iTunes purchased music. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared iTunes library across ALL devices that contains our Lossless music and purchased music. so that it can be played across ALL   devices. With the ability to have private music for each individual (Not shared).
    b) Purchase new music and add it to the family share or purchase music and make it private (Not shared).
    2)  Multiple iPhoto Libraries macs (With photo stream from iPhones) and ONE Aperture Library on my mac. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared photo library that every one can deposit to and view.
    b) Store individual iPhoto libraries on iCloud Drive(s)? So that everyone can have their own library and edit it across THEIR devices.
    c) Store and use my Aperture Library on iCloud Drive?
    Other documents:
iWork files, PDFs etc. What I want to do:
    a) Have a main family shared area (on iCloud Drive i suppose) where we can share documents.
    b) Sync private documents across ALL individuals devices (Available locally and on iCloud).
    c) Store private documents (One instance)  on iCloud drive and make them available on ALL individuals devices.
    d) Backup of local documents?
    Apps:
    iOS apps:
    a) Share purchased apps?
    b) Not share private apps.
    Storage:
What do I purchase to accomplish the above:
    a) iCloud storage for everyone?
    b) iTunes Match for everyone?
    c) All of the above?
    Conclusion:
It would be great for Apple to explain all this with all the options in one concise document instead of hunting down individual documents and sections all over the place.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hey there!
You and I are data soulmates. I have been having this trouble for a while and have yet to get my head around it. Our problem is that we've cycled through multiple macs and the "home" or "host" for all the stuff that's now been moved or moving to the Cloud is very scattered. It drives me crazy... almost to the point where I'm thinking about starting a brand-new iCloud account and beginning from scratch.
If you have any experiences or recommendations you could share about your strategy, I would love to hear it.

  • Could not initialize AM in shared library

    Hello, I have some problem.
I deployed adf-library as a shared library on weblogic. This library is a real application packed in jar, and then in war as is described here http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2010/07/deploying-adf-applications-as-shared.html The problem is that when I call taskFlow in this library from another application, I get an exception: libraries application module could not be initialized:

I’ll be very grateful for any idea about what is wrong and how to fix this.

codeplay, thanks for your reply, but it doesn’t help, classpath doesn’t contain my adf-lib jar, but it also hasn’t another jars which works correctly. May be it is because wls-cat works incorrect on 11.1.1.2.0 version, because it is for 11.1.1.4.0. There is this jar into application temp directory on weblogic.
I thought that my AMImpl can’t be initialized because there can’t be find something imported in it. But I’ve checked all dependencies and all seems correct. I also tried to use “prefer-web-inf-classes” property but no result.
h0s, I added reference to my library in the weblogic.xml. I think the problem is not because my library is “shared”, if I add jar to project as a common adf-library there is the same result.

  • Can see but not access shared library

I have a PC running Windows XPsp3 and the latest version of iTunes, and my husband is on a macbook using the latest OS and iTunes.  We both have Home Sharing enabled and he can access my library, but I can not access his.  I can see his shared library but when I click on it, it thinks for a while and kicks me back to my library.  I checked to make sure we were both using the same account info and that we both had sharing enabled.  I checked to make sure our respective firewalls where allowing iTunes through. We are using an AirPort for our router; I'm wired in and he is wireless. I've been looking in the community and can't see where anyone has successfully resolved this problem.
BTW, before I recently reformatted and rebuilt my PC, when I encountered this problem I would get an error stating I needed to check my firewall.  Reformatting my PC did not correct the problem, only removed the error message.
    Anyone have any other ideas?

  • Aperture Browser Sorts Not Working Correctly

There is a sorting anomaly (I think it's a bug) whereby Aperture does not sort fields correctly.  I have a version naming scheme that starts with YYYYMMDD and Aperture does not sort the entire photo library correctly.  For example, scanning through the browser I will get several pages of items sorted correctly, in my case, from oldest to newest, then it will show a bunch of photos out of order.  For example, 2001 photos, 2008 photos, 2004 photos.
This is driving me nuts.  I have repaired the library database to no avail.  I have copied the version names and read them with a text editor to see if any obscure text - anybody else experience weird browser photo sorting behavior?  The same anomaly exists if I sort by file name or if I sort by version name (most of my photos have same master file name as version name).

Here's a screen shot of some of the inconsistent sort results - sourced from "Photos" container...weird
This has been in existance for months.  I thought I had resolved it when doing a bunch of consolidation stuff the past few days but now it is here again. Can't help but wonder if I have a corrupt database.  I repaired the DB earlier today and Aperture added 10 photos to my Photos container - very weird.  I have not taken the final step of rebuilding my database.  Aperture has also started hanging on me in the past few hours - most recently while trying to update my Vault.  I have about 9150 photos in total in my database.

  • Shared library: function is not found and recognized in header file

    Hello,
I am trying to use Java methods into LV. I am doing so by creating Java Invocation Interface, usind which I can call Java methods into C++ and then create a shared library that can be called into LV.
When I am importing my shared library into Labview, I am getting the following error messages:
The shared library contains 3 function(s). But no function is found and recognized in the header file. The following function(s) cannot be wrapped. If you want to import these functions, please review the warning messages next to the functions below. You will need to fix the problems before you can continue with the wizard.
    jclass invokeJavaClass(JNIEnv* jenv, string className);
The following symbols are not defined:
    jclass;
Undefined symbols can prevent the wizard from recognizing functions and parameters. To correct this problem, check the header file to determine if you must add preprocessor definitions. Click the Back button to return to the previous page of the wizard to add a preprocessor definitionsl (for example, "NIAPI_stdcall = __stdcall" or "NIAPIDefined = 1").
The following header file was not found in the specified header file or one of the referenced header files:
    -  string
    -  iostream
    -  cstring
    -  jni.h
To fix, click the Back button to go to the previous page and add the header file path to the Include Paths list.
     Please advise.

    Hello Vivek,
The LabVIEW dll that I am trying to import does not include any third-party device..all my code is fully based on LabVIEW. Maybe this helps you to guess what is happening: once I've parsed the dll' header appears an error
    like this one:
    void
__cdecl Zdmt(LVBoolean *stop, double P, char channelName[],
        TD1
*errorIn, TD14 *FFTOptions, TD12 *Calibration, char FileName[],
    int32_t minRecordLength, TD26 *InstrumentHandler, LVRefNum
    sessionRefArray[],
        LVRefNum *queueIN, TD1 *errorOut, LVBoolean
    *averagingDone,
        HWAVES LastRecordFetched, TD24 *Impedance, TD17
    *ColeColeCluster,
        TD18 *FFTcluster, TD5
    *InstrumentHandleOutputCluster, LVRefNum *queueOut,
        int32_t
    *Acquired, TD6 *FreqTimeInfoCluster, double *averagesCompleted,
    int32_t len);
The following symbols are not defined:
    LVBoolean;
    int32_t; LVRefNum;
Undefined symbols can prevent the wizard
from recognizing functions and parameters. To correct this problem,
check the header file to determine if you must add predefined symbols.
Click the Back button to return to the previous page of the wizard to
add a preprocessor definitionsl (for example, "NIAPI_stdcall =
    __stdcall" or "NIAPIDefined = 1").
    The following header file was
not found in the specified header file or one of the referenced header
    files:
    -  extcode.h
To fix, click the Back button to go to the
previous page and add the header file path to the Include Paths list.
I have replaced the first line #include "extcode.h" of
the dll header file for #include "C:\Program Files\National
Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\cintools\extcode.h" that is the full path where
the header file is located. However, new libraries seems to be missed:
    -  stdint.h
    -  MacTypes.h
As far as I know,  Mactypes.h contains basic mac os data types and it doesn't have any relation with stdint.h...
I have created both of them and stored into the same folder as extcode.h, but then other libraries are missed!!!
Do you know if it would be possible to create the .dll generating all the header files associated for its data structures???
And if this is not factible, then what do you suggest me? because I hope to not having to create all the header files until it stops giving me an error!
    thanks for four time,
    ben

  • Error Message: Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library preloader will require...

Please help. I am receiving an error message and I don't know what I need to do to fix my file. I'm working in Flash CS5.5. I've created an animated web banner. When I go to test movie, I receive the following error message:
Your content will not stream. Runtime Shared Library (RLS) preloader will require all of your content to download before the first frame will play.
To prevent this you can change the Runtime Shared Library Library Settings in the Advanced ActionScript 3.0 Settings dialog which can be raised from the Publish Settings dialog.
The Runtime Shared Libraries being preloaded are:
    textLayout_2.0.0.232.swz for TLF Text
I don't know what any of this means or what I need to do to ensure that my web banner will load correctly once it's uploaded to a website. Please help. I'm fairly new to Flash. Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

    Mr Benrud,
This window means you've used TLF Text Format and before all of your content download, it requires to be proloaded. To get rid of this message, just remove TLF Text Format (if you really don't require it) or else goto Publish Settings -> Flash -> Actionscript Settings and just remove it.

  • Remote app on iPad2 not showing iTunes interface on ATV2 shared library

I have an AppleTV 2 that's sharing an iTunes library via home sharing over Ethernet from a Mac Mini. Running Remote App on my iPhone 5S, I can control that library as expected. Running Remote App on my iPad2, however, I'm unable to see the main iTunes-like interface that lists songs, albums, artists, etc. on the shared library. While I can see the currently playing song at the top of the screen and have access to the Back, Pause, and Forward buttons, the main pane below that only shows the icons for Home Sharing and Using Gestures. Under Home Sharing, where it says "Tap the Apple TV button in the bottom left...," there's not Apple TV button, only "Devices." I can use the gestures interface in Remote App on the iPad2 to control playback, but I never see the main library interface. Any thoughts you have for remedying this would be really appreciated!

Well the response I got to the above post was outstanding!
Shall we put this in the bracket along with "If a tree falls in the forest with no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?"
If anyone is wondering, for my party I ended up using my Mac as the server for the iTunes DJ. And I discovered that if more than 5-7 people try to get onto it, it crashes the whole system and the music stops. Glorious.

  • ITunes library not in default location doesn't show up as shared library

My iTunes library will not show up on my network as a shared library. It is not in the default location for Windows (Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes). I can find no reference anywhere that this should prevent a library from being seen by other iTunes users, yet that seems to be the case.
I have two other iTunes libraries on computers on my local network. Both show up on each other's machines, so this isn't a firewall issue. All my machines are running the same level of Windows XP Pro.
On one machine, I actually created a library in another location, then shared it. It was not visible. Once I recreated the library in the default location, it was again visible.
Does anyone have a any ideas how I can troubleshoot this? I really don't want to copy/move what is now a very large library and there's nothing to indicate that this shouldn't work.
    Thanks!
    Michael Greis

Normally all you need to do is copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on one computer to <User's Music> on the other. If you've made things more complicated see make a split library portable.

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture.  How can I access the Aperture Library  on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup?  I can only access the application but not the library..

Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it.
