Aperture 3.4 plug-ins give Editing Error..

I updated Aperture to 3.4 and as before sharing my iPhoto library.
When I try and use any plug-ins like dfine or others I get the following error.
Editing Error.
One or more of the selected versions has a original files which is still being imported.  Please wait for the file to copy to complete and try again.
I tried this with several different plug-ins and many different pictures.
However If I import a picture into the aperture library then I can use the plug-ins but if I try and do it using the iPhoto library I cannot.
Any ideas??

Only the pictures that were importing into iPhoto prior to sharing with Aperture I get:
Editing Error.
I am still puzzled by what the difference might be between your and my iPhoto library and plug-ins. As I said, all my plug-ins work well, when I open an iPhoto library from Aperture. It must either be something specific to your plug-ins (that is why I keep asking for the version number of your plug-ins - are they confirmed releases for Aperture 3.4.3 and Mt. Lion?) or something different in your iPhoto Libraries. Are your iPhoto libraries referenced? Mine are managed. And my iPhoto libraries have been originally created in very early iPhoto versions and upgraded to iPhoto '11.

Have any new Aperture 2.x Plug-ins been release to this date? If so which ones?
I had understood new plug-ins were to be released in mid April, but I have not read anything to this point nor have I seen any comments on the boards.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Aperture 2.1 Plug-Ins - Disappointment

first, i must congratulate (and thank) apple for the speed in which they have released updates since the release of aperture 2.0. this is fantastic and very much appreciated!
i am however quite disappointed with the way the 2.1 plug-ins work. for me, the main strength of aperture was the fact that all adjustments were rendered on the fly, without altering anything on pixel level until final export. the new plug-ins create a new physical file and plug-in adjustments can therefore not be changed down the track. in this case, it is no different then editing an image with photoshop.
of course i'd find it fantastic if noise-reduction, lens correction, ca etc could be done within aperture, however it should be done within a adjustment brick, not creating a new file. as the file sizes are huge, we should at least have the option to chose also jpg as format (preferences only allows for tif and psd).
while i welcome the addition, i am disappointed by the way it is implemented.

    This is now absurd.
The amount of whining on this board has made it useless for actual feature and technique discussion. I strongly request that Apple create a users board and a problem discussion board. Most Aperture users have the right hardware, and understand when and where to use Photoshop.
I use Neat Image externally in Photoshop (a great alternative to Noise Ninja IMHO), to expect that this 30 second process be reapplied (and I assume with layers of other plugin ins in concert), as suggested by steebow should now applied in real time, or that we have a re-rendering option on each plugin, is getting crazy.
Use ACR, and Lightroom and look at file sizes.
    Holy noodle!
Can we talk about how this product makes Photography more effective. I just did a 300 shot ski race in an hour.
Sorry to rant, (steebow, I know you know and use the product well) but I want to find a Aperture discussion group. This is the helpline list.

  • TS2518 Anyone else having trouble with plug-ins in Aperture 3.2.3?

I am having problems with Aperture 3.2.3 using my Nik plug-ins.  I have updated everything from my iMac to Aperture to my plug-ins.  I've done a repair permissions, restarted, and all that as well.
The problem is that when I edit a photo using my plug-ins, and hit save, instead of it normally rendering all the changes, the photo appears normal.  If I have more than two edits, and I hold scroll all the way over (from first to last), it will show the edits to the last photo only, but only as long as I continue to hold the scroll arrow, once I let go, it returns to normal.  Other times, when I edit a photo, hit save, it appears normal, but if I close Aperture, reopen it, the edits are there.  Obviously, this is not very conducive to getting much done. I have Photoshop 12.0.4, but my plug-ins are specific to Aperture, and I actually prefer Aperture, but I've had minor stabilty issues with it from day one, and this is just really problematic.

    This is a known issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4237
We have to wait for Apple to fix.
Same issue here with NIK and PS CS5 (PS CS6 beta).

    Current plugin: UAD Modifilter
Well I unistalled it using UAD 5.4.1 driver which was the version that was installed. Since the MBP doesn't have a PCI slot I did this. Any other suggestions?

How did you install FCP 6 on to this computer? Because the latest OS doesn't let you do it without a lot of trickery. And the latest OS doesn't really support this really old FCP version...so that is an issue.

  • Removing a trial plug-ins

I downloaded a couple of trial plug-ins for Aperture and didn't like them. Now I can't get the plug-in names off the Aperture list of plug-ins. I have removed the plug-ins from both the root library and my personal library, but the names still show up in the Aperture application when I go to use other plug-ins.

Did you try quitting and then re-launching? If they still show up, try deleting your preferences. ~Library>Prefences>com.apple.Aperture.plist. Move that file to the trash.

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

  • Suddenly getting "Missing Plug-Ins" errors when opening .indd files in InDesign CS2

I have a PC running Windows 7 and InDesign CS2. The laptop's installation of Windows was corrupted and I had to re-install the OS. I backed up all files, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled applications. One of those applications was InDesign CS2. However, after the installation of CS2 on the fresh copy of Windows, I noticed that I have trouble opening most, but not all, of the InDesign files on my hard drive.
When I try to open a .indd file I see an error message pop up that says "Missing Plug-ins. LILO.APLN, DYNAMICDOCUMENTS.RPLN, CONDITIONALTEXT.RPLN" and three more. Under that list of missing plugins is the warning "This document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"  If I click "okay" I then am met with another dialog box that says "Cannot open file. TEXT.RPLN, LAYER.RPLN" and on and on for about 60 more items.
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING! I've searched around concerning this issue and it appears the consensus is that the file was opened by a newer version of InDesign. That possibility is, in fact, an impossibility. Never have I used a newer version of InDesign. The files that I am working on were backed up, stored on local storage and not touched once before reinstalling the OS and reinstalling InDesign CS2.
I also noticed that not all InDesign file formats were associated with InDesign in "Windows Programs and Defaults." I changed those to look to InDesign. I've also uninstalled InDesign CS2 and re-installed.
Not all InDesign CS2 files are exhibiting this behavior. So far, it appears more than half are, but some can be opened with no problems. There seems to be no correlation between which ones are able to be opened and which ones can't be opened.
What could have happened to these files and is there any possibility of opened them again? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Conditional Text was a new feature in CS4. I'm thinking, can you explain how your old CS2 documents became aware of it?
    Not exactly sure myself. Abiogenesis?
    [Edit]
Almost forgot. I wrote a script to unequivocally determine the InDesign version a document was last saved as:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071273
I'll give that a try today. Even an affirmative judgement that the files are newer than CS2 would not impress me however. The fact remains, the files were copied off one hard drive over to another, the plug was pulled on the hard drive, the PC was re-imaged, CS2 was reinstalled, the files were copied back over... and whammo.

Verify that you are running ID CS2, InDesign version 4.x.  What level are you patched to from the InDesign>About InDesign drop down splash screen?
The message alerts to files being version 2.0.x? that is 2 versions back, are these old files?

  • Get Plugin Finding Service Error for weeks & weeks now - can't update plug-ins, need download .pdf doc, but says adobe unstable, plug-in needs update. now what

Want to download .pdf doc, but pop-up says it's unstable, need update plug-in. Tried to update, got error message, with "try later". Same for weeks now. Tried check for updates, Firefox is up to date, clicked update plug-ins... it tries, then again... same error message: "Plugin Finding Service Error. Please try again later".
Been so long now -- when becomes a mighty big question. Looked in forum, no joy.
Please, can someone tell me -- what's the go. I'm absolutely no good with computers, but this needs to get fixed. Should I stop using Firefox or what?
    Thanks for your help.
    Happy 2013 to all.
PS. (added a couple days later)
I'm told I should have added my next question in reply to TylerDowner here, instead of as I did. Sorry if that's so (really?) but I didn't even realize I could edit this.
So... TylerDowner, thanks very much for your reply, and please would you -- or anyone else who might be able to help -- see my first reply to you below. (seems a waste to slot in here again)
    Feelin even dumber, (ha-ha)

Tylerdowner -- >> thank you << for your reply, and my sincere apologies for this delayed response (probs, hospital, blah-blah, you don't want to know).
Have tried to download via that link but not sure if successful. Very slow dial-up connection is the pits. Waited hours 'n hours, fell asleep in chair even, finally had to give in and go to bed, left it going. Server does time out every 8-12 hours, so not sure how long it went. The download appeared complete -- ie, did not show any note of failure. Not sure if it would -- some things in the past haven't.
Anyway, had success downloading one much older .pdf file, but the link for one I wanted had expired, and I don't know anything else to try. Tried a couple of other links I have, not sure of age of file -- on clicking link, the browser opened, but nothing more happened.
Wondering -- is the download available in separate pieces instead of one big one? Perhaps worth trying again that way?
Please, if you would be forgiving, and persist with me a little further/longer -- would you make your recommendation/s for next step/s please?
Hope you're in a safe, comfortable place. So many places in the world suffering with extremes of all kinds.

  • Plug-ins not showing up in Aperture 3.1

I have been using Aperture for a past few days, and when i tried to instal two plug-in programs (photoshelter - it is a photo hosting site and the plug in allows you to upload photos directly to the site, and HSC edit - this is an edit tool I downloaded from the Apple site). Neither of them show up in the menu of Aperture. I tried re-installing, but doesn't work. what could i be doing wrong?

    Frank,
I have a similar situation that you seem like you might understand.
I bought a new computer, started a new user (A), and downloaded Aperture. Then I realized it was easier to move the pictures from my old computer by transferring everything from that computer, creating another user (B) on my new computer. Since then I havent used user A at all, but now I can't access plug-ins for Aperture. Based on your posts above I checked user B and sure enough there are the plug-ins. I tried to repair permissions in the disk utility, and that didn't help. I restarted the program after each try.
Any idea of what I might try next?
On a separate note, I've been unhappy with this new macbook pro from the start, as compared to my old macbook, in terms of speed. Plus the battery life *****, which is a main reason i ditched the last one, no where near as advertised. Could an extraneous unnecessarily running/ partitioned in the background be creating any problems for speed or battery life? Or was dumping in everything from my old computer a bad idea?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

  • Plug-ins won't work with aperture 3.5.1

Just updated to aperture 3.5.1 and now none of my plug-ins won't work what can I do to fix this problem. Any help woud be great.

How do they not work, error message, crash, etc?
What plugin and want Aperture and OS versions did you upgrade from?
In general if after an upgrade you have a problem like this you should check the developer sites for updated plugins designed to work with the new version of OS and Aperture.

  • Integrating Nik plug-ins into an Aperture workflow

Hi. In his response to a [posted question|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2746051&tstart=0] about noise reduction, forum guru William Lloyd spoke highly of the Nik plug-ins.
I also like them alot, but have stopped using them and don't recommend them because they do not integrate into my Aperture workflow in any usable way. The suite of plug-ins (there are six, iirc) are designed to be used step-wise -- and therein lies the problem. Because of what I take to be a glitch in Aperture, any changes made within Aperture to an image edited and returned by a plug-in are lost when that image is sent back out to another plug-in. (The work-around is klugly: you have to create a new Version prior to every use of a plug-in other than the first use.)
I love the Nik tools (and paid dear for them), but haven't been able to find the right place for them on my workbench. William -- or anyone -- how have you integrated the Nik plug-ins into your Aperture workflow?
I am considering "upgrading" my Nik suite to the Photoshop edition in order to take advantage of all the tools. I'm pretty sure used w. Photoshop, the tools create editable layers. The upgrade, however, doubles the already expensive cost of the suite (and the Aperture→Photoshop→Nik→Photoshop→Nik→Photoshop→Nik→Photoshop→Aperture trip is sure to be cumbersome).
My goal is simple: to be able to take full advantage of the Nik tools while taking full advantage of Aperture. Any advice greatly appreciated.
    TIA, and cheers.

  • Recommended plug-ins/apps for panorama stitching in Aperture?

Does anyone have any recommendations for photo stitching plug-ins/apps that "play well" with Aperture?
I end up taking a large number of panorama series (horizontal, vertical, and occasionally 2D grid), and I would love to be able to select a stack in Aperture and "edit with plug-in" to create a stitched image (like Photomatix does with HDR series). Failing that, any recommendations of a reliable external app and a recommended Aperture workflow?
(I had been using ArcSoft Panorama Maker, but it has proven highly unreliable -- lots of crashes and inability to process a number of seemingly-straightforward series --, and its somewhat nonstandard UI becomes pretty cumbersome if you have to use it a lot.)
    Thanks!

    Mike,
I will share my workflow, but I cannot really recommend it as "best" since I have not tried other software or workflows, but it works well for me.
I do not use any plugin (and I'm not aware of one right now). I use Hugin, freeware from SourceForge http://sourceforge.net/projects/hugin/.
After importing RAW photos into Aperture (I use a managed library for the most part, but that's neither here nor there), I stack each set of photos that belong in the same panorama. I export the photos from each stack as TIFFs to a predefined folder that contains my pano input and outputs. I run the photos through Hugin and output as JPG files. Then I import those pano outputs as referenced photos into Aperture. For each pano output, I add it to the corresponding stack and make it the stack pick. I crop and do color adjustment if necessary on that final version. Finally, I go back to my predefined folder and delete the TIFFs that I exported from Aperture.
    A couple notes:
I use JPG as output since there are so many pixels in most panoramas that I could probably print it out large enough to cover my living room wall before seeing JPG artifacts.
I delete the TIFFs from my pano folder because they're just wasting space at that point. I can recreate them from my Aperture versions at any point, and I'm probably not going to use them outside Aperture.
It's really easy to add the pano to the stack of its "source" photos, since Hugin ensures the EXIF date matches the first photo in your pano. By sorting my date in Aperture, a newly imported pano shows up adjacent to the "source" stack.
I import the final JPG as referenced because I want to keep track of all the parameters saved in my Hugin project (I.e., what are the source photos; what were the control points; roll/pitch/yaw; pano algorithm, etc.). That project file is not a picture, so Aperture won't manage it. However, I store the final JPG in the same place as its corresponding project file. With a referenced master, I can use Aperture to show me the location in finder, an voila, I have found the Project file, too. If ever I need to recreate the pano for some reason, I can look at the project file and see what pictures I need to export from Aperture to start the process over again.
    Hope this is helpful!
