Aperture 3.5 repeatedly crashes as 'memory full' despite 32GB RAM

Almost every session of editing multiple images my Aperture 3.5 session will hang irrecoverably (Force Quite dialog registers it as Paused) with a 'Memory full' error dialog - despite my iMac's 32GB of RAM and matching virtual memory (supplied by 3TB Fusion drive). This doesn't happen in any other application to my knowledge, including Lightroom 5, Photoshop CS5, etc. This used to happen with Aperture 3.4, and I believe so when on Mountain Lion.
The possible factors that I've considered so far:
1. The library was originally an iPhoto library, upgraded to Aperture-compatible at version 3.4 I believe. I've not worked in iPhoto long enough to test if this is exclusive to Aperture.
2. The library is also a substantial 500 GB, storing 59,000 images - not including versions.
3. The memory hangs when I'm adjusting images, but doesn't appear to be any particular tool.
4. It tends to hang after about half an hour of intensive work, neccessitating a Force Quit and picking up where I left off. As you can imagine, this happens a frustrating amount during a photo editing workout...
Would someone kindly help me out with a list of things I can do to try and assess where the problem lies? Your thoughts would be much appreciated!
p.s. I'd really rather avoid splitting the library up into smaller pieces, as I don't believe that's a problem, with people handling much larger libraries than mine. I would happily move to a 'proper' Aperture library if I could do so without further risking the integrity of the data, though I do have a backup on my TimeMachine.

I have the same problem. My imac has 32GB of RAM and Aperture maxes out the RAM after about 10 to 20 minutes of editing. At first I would get a warning that system memory had been used up and I would have to Force Quit. That was a few weeks ago when I first updated to Mavericks and Aperture 3.5. I am now on 3.5.1. More recently, if I forget to pay attention to the Activity Monitor and don't quit Aperture before it hits the memory limit, Aperture will hang for a moment and then my entire system shuts down. I believe it is the result of a kernel panic. Everything will start back up again with Aperture working fine (unless it requires me to do a repair) until I have to quit Aperture to avoid the shut down. I have noticed that kernel_task in the Activity Monitor usually sits around 1.4GB, but grows significantly and quickly when memory pressure grows if I push it a bit before quitting Aperture. Once I quit, the kernel_task immediately goes back to 1.4GB and memory is released after a few seconds.
I use Aperture all the time for my work. I work quickly with adjustments and have not had problems with the computer keeping up until now.

  • E71 "memory full" error message

    Hi there,
    I've had an E71 for 7 months now and started receiving a "memory full" error message today at 1 min intervals.  I still have full functionality and have checked the phone memory which still has 1695MB free with only 191MB in use.  How do I get rid of this error message?
    Thanks

    "Memory full" is a RAM issue. You've enough space on your memory card. Clean out messages, browser cache, etc....

    Your error log does not help much - Aperture is not crashing, it is hanging. Waiting for an event that does not happen.
    Has the vault that you cannot update been created by the same Aperture version? Is it a new vault, or a vault that could be updated before? Where is your vault located? What kind of drive (external? NAS?) And what kind of formatting?
    As a test - can you create and update a vault for a new test Aperture library?
    I hope somebody will jump in who can read hang reports. Crash reports are easier to read.
    Regards

  • Auditon CC - Repeatedly Crashing , Unable to Render

    My Audition CC is Repeatedly Crashing, Im unable to hardly to ANYTHING with this program without it Crashing ...  I tried to narrow it down to Specific Actions .. but its completely UNSTABLE .. sometimes some functions work or rather, do not cause Crashing, and sometimes the same functions will cause immediate crashing of the application. However no matter what i do.. I haven't been able to Render ANYTHING with this program since I installed it ... Rendering is just completely out of the question it seems..  even after HOURS of recording through the REPEATED crashing... and finally getting a project to what would seem to be near finished... The render function will immediately cause it to crash no matter what i change and set or anything ..
    Now I've seen MANY similar issues on this forum as well as other search results .. so im going to post my official report and pray someone actually helps me.. Im fairly new to the Adobe community and i have no real idea how the support system works here, but this seems to be the only option that seems Remotely promising.. as I can find no other means of support, and the Knowledge Base/FAQ deemed extremely useless in this matter.

    The application hangs for about 30secs and then the Windows box comes up saying

    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

  • IMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB, Extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since migration from Mountain Lion to Mavericks

    Dear Apple Support Community.
    As mentioned by a number of users reporting the same problem, my 2009 iMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB RAM, has become extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since it was migrated from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (OS 10.9 then OS 10.9.1).
    I have already run CleanMyMac, deleted 5GB of useless stuffs, which did not translate into any improvement. Following the advices collected in other Apple Support Community threads, I have applied EtreCheck the outcome of which is provided below.
    For information, I have also upgraded my 2011 MacBook CPU2.3 GHz Core i7, 8GB which became only a bit slower than before, sometimes freezing which it almost never did before. However, I am used to the fact that Mac get usually slower and more prompt fo freeze after upgrading to a more recent OS.
    Both my 2009 iMac and my 2011 MacBook have F-Secure installed. So the problem with the 2009 IMac is unlikly to be due to the presence of F-Secure. Interestingly, the few abnormalities found by Etrecheck were exacly identical before I ran CleanMyMac. There are two more findings (mentioned below) since I ran CleanMyMac on the 2009 iMac, which again didn't improve the problem.
    So please find below the details of the EtreCheck experience and some additional measurements made with iStat while running EtreCheck:

    Practically:
    The iMac can work slowly with only one software e.g. either Mail or Safari or Firefox, but still the below "out of Memory" message occurs about every 3 minutes.
    Aperture has becomre to slow to be useable
    If trying to write a mail (with Mail) while Safari or Firefox is open, then the "out of Memory" message occurs about every 20 seconds so I need to check on "Resume" several times per minute.
    Conclusions
    From the above, unless anyone in the Apple Support Community proves to be able to identify a specific problem leading to a way to find a cure, I tend to conclude that Mavericks is not suitable for computers operating with a Core 2 Duo CPU even with a 8GB of RAM.
    Unless I missed something, I did not see any warning from Apple Computer Inc. informing their customers they should refrain from upgrading Core 2 Duo Computers.
    The only solution I see so far is to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion. And the Apple Support Community would confirm that it is the only solution, I would appreciate to get your guidance on how to proceed.
    Intended action plan
    Migrate the above 2009 iMac to a 2014 Mac Mini Server operating on Mavericks to ensure that no data may be lost while downgrading to Montain Lion.
    Provided the above downgrading operation is successful, assign this 2009 iMac to partial retirement e.g. Mail, Skype, iTunes  and DVD player.
    In advance, I would like to thank the Apple Community for helping me either i) finding a cure to the problem, ii) or confirming that Mavericks cannot operate properly on Core 2 Duo computers, iii) and in such a case, guiding me on how to downgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Yours sincerely

    ... what anti-virus would you recommend using?
    Use what is already included with OS X. It already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
    A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
    Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
    Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
    Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
    Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
    Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
    Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
    Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
    Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
    Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
    Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
    Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
    Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
    Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
    Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
    Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
    If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
    Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
    The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
    OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
    Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
    If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
    Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
    Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
    Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • "Memory full." error while exporting report to PDF format - CR2008SP2

    <br>
    Hello,<br>
    <br>
    I am developing a C#.NET application that uses the CR2008 SP2 .NET libraries. This application performs some database updates and uses CR2008 SP2 to run 7 different reports and export the results to PDF files. This application is a console application that only uses Crystal to export the rendered reports - it does not use previews or printing.<br>
    <br>
    The specific pattern of this application is as follows:<br>
    <br>
    - perform some database updates<br>
    - render report #1 and export it as a PDF file<br>
    - perform some database updates<br>
    - render report #2 and export it as a PDF file<br>
    ... pattern repeats to report #7 ...<br>
    <br>
    This application works fine as long as I run only one instance of it at a time. The problem occurs when I try to run multiple instances of this application at the same time. When I run multiple instances of this application at the same time (against totally different databases) each instance will start up happily and begin running through the process described above. After a few moments one or more instances will fail during the report export. The specific error is as follows:<br>
    <br>
    "Memory full. Failed to export the report. Not enough memory for operation."<br>
    <br>
    The error always comes from the call to:<br>
    <br>
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToDisk(Format, FileName)<br>
    <br>
    I have watched the memory consumption of these instances of my application while they are running. They never seem to exceed approximately 52MB each. At this time task manager reports over 1GB of physical memory free. These numbers lead me to believe that memory is not actually "full".<br>
    <br>
    Here are some specifics about the environment:<br>
    <br>
    Dell Vostro 1720 / P8600 / 4GB<br>
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64<br>
    SQL Server 2008 SP1 x64<br>
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP2<br>
    <br>
    Specifics about the C# application:<br>
    <br>
    IDE: Visual Studio 2008 SP1<br>
    Type: Console Application<br>
    Target platform: x86<br>
    .NET Framework: 3.5 SP1<br>
    Crystal References:<br>
    - CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine (v12.0.2000.0)<br>
    - CrystalDecisions.Shared (v12.0.2000.0)<br>
    <br>
    Specifics about the report templates:<br>
    <br>
    The report templates are RPT files saved from CR2008 SP2. They are relatively simple. A few of them (maybe 3) contain a single subreport.<br>
    <br>
    Specifics about the database:<br>
    <br>
    Each database is approximately 1GB in size. The database contains many tables but the reports only access a handful of tables. Each table that the reports access have maybe a few hundred rows tops. Most have less than 100. Likewise, when the reports perform their selections the resulting rowset for the reports is anywhere from about 20 records to a few hundred records tops.<br>
    <br>
    A few items to note:<br>
    <br>
    - Multiple instances of my application need to be able to run on a single machine at the same time. It is a specific design requirement.<br>
    - My application works fine as long as I run only one instance of it at a time.<br>
    - My application works fine when I run multiple instances if I comment out the Crystal part of it.<br>
    - My application works fine when I run multiple instances if I change the export format from PDF to HTML32 or HTML40 (have not tried any others)<br>
    - The machine has over 1GB of physical memory free when this error occurs.<br>
    - I have taken steps to ensure that I am properly disposing of my CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument instance just after each export is complete. I have tried to use the "using" keyword, as well as explicitly setting the instance to null and calling the .NET framework garbage collector. This did not seem to help.<br>
    <br>
    Any assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated.<br>

    <br>
    Jonathan & Ludek,<br>
    <br>
    Thanks for the timely response and good suggestions guys!<br>
    <br>
    I have performed a few more tests today in order to help answer some of your questions.<br>
    <br>
    Below are my responses. Some of them are answers to questions and some of them are observations based on tests I have performed today.<br>
    <br>
    - The database system is SQL Server 2008 SP1 Developer Edition x64.<br>
    <br>
    - The C# application connects to the database using the native .NET SQL client (System.Data.Sql).<br>
    <br>
    - During runtime I connect the report to the database by looping through the ReportDocument.Database.Tables collection. For each Table found I create a CrystalDecisions.Shared.TableLogOnInfo instance, fill in the table name, server name, database name, user ID, and password, and use Table.ApplyLogOnInfo() to apply it. I do the same thing for the subreports collection if there are any. Like I said, about half of the reports contain a single subreport.<br>
    <br>
    - The report templates are currently set to use the "SQLOLEDB" Provider. The Database Type is set to "OLE DB (ADO)". I am not entirely sure what you mean by trying a different database driver. I assume you mean to change the provider? If so, given the fact that we are using SQL Server 2008, what would I change it to?<br>
    <br>
    - If I do not perform the database updates during application runtime (instead, perform them ahead of time and then allow the application to only render the reports) then I still have the same problem. Nothing changes.<br>
    <br>
    - I installed the Fix Pack 2.5, rebooted, and tried again. Same problem.<br>
    <br>
    - I do not beleive that I am using XML transforms. How would I know?<br>
    <br>
    - Regarding fragmented memory: It is hard for me to believe that, given the amount of memory free on the machine once all processes are up and running (1GB+), and the size of the processes (~50MB), that a contiguous block could not be found. Maybe there is some Crystal process that is attempting to balloon out of control, but as far as I can tell my application is not getting very big. I will not rule this out of course because I don't know for sure.<br>
    <br>
    - Regarding killing the process once a report is rendered: The problem with this is that the application needs to perform these 7 groups of updates and render these 7 reports in a specific sequence all as part of one complete "pass". Also, this application needs to be able to be able to handle a scneario where one or more instance of the application is started on a single machine at roughly the same time (pointed at different databases). The application actually does work fine in this regard (staying well within the capabilities of my 4GB laptop even when 8 of them are running) except that I always get the same error when I choose PDF as my export format.<br>
    <br>
    - I ran a test today where I changed the export format to HTML40 and started 8 instances of the application at the same time, each working from a different copy of the database. The instances ran a little slow but did complete in good time with no errors. Please note that changing the export format to PDF will cause the application to fail with the "memory full" error if even only 2 instances are running at the same time. The only way I can successfully complete a run with the export format set to PDF is to run only 1 instance at a time. I can run it over and over all day long and it will not fail, as long as only 1 instance is running at a given time. As of yesterday I had only proven that the application would complete when using the HTML40 export format when 2 or 4 instances are running, but today I doubled it again (to 8) and still no failure while using HTML40. This is possibly the most interesting fact about this problem, and is another reason why I am skeptical that memory fragmentation is the culprit.<br>
    <br>
    We would like to solve this problem because we would like to continue to target the PDF format. It is the standard report export format for our applications. If we cannot solve this problem we may call a meeting and decide whether to proceed with the HTML40 export format, or possibly dump Crystal from this project altogether.<br>
    <br>
    Thanks again for your interest in our problem and your timely and helpful responses. I'm really not sure where to go next ... maybe change the database provider in the templates? I will need some specific advice in this area because I'm not sure what to do. Any more ideas you guys have will be greatly appreciated on this end!<br>

  • Error 2- memory full & error 10846 - buffer overwrite

    I am running a multi threaded application on Labview 6.1 on Win2000 that involves continuous buffered data acquisition on a PCI-6130E and serial communication. I am sampling 15 channels at 600Hz. I currently have a buffer size of 1000 and am reading 60 points at a time. The serial communication involves sending commands to a pump from a queue. The queue is maintained at about 500 commands and does not increase over time.
    I am plagued with two errors: the first is buffer overwrite error 10846. This occurs only when running the serial communication thread and DAQ thread simultaneously. I have tried reducing sampling rate, increasing buffer size, and increasing the number of points read at a time. The only effec
    t seems to be to postpone the crash for about an hour.
    The other error is error 2 - memory full. Labview seems to use gradually more and more memory over time and crashes after a few hours at about 110,000K.
    I am not sure if these two problems are related in some way, as I have only gotten error 2 after receiving and ignoring error 10846. Sometimes the program runs for about an hour and then Labview exits by itself. I'm wondering if this memory error could be a result of my chart histories being too large or from some kind of accumulation due to using a queue.
    If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix any of these errors, or on how to diagnose their cause, I would appreciate your help.

    I suggest you concentrate on the memory leak.
    There are many things that could cause this, some obivous others are very subtle.
    Do the following and let us know what you find.
    1) Reboot
    2) Brinf up the task manager and check the performance before you start. Note memory usage and compare with the actual physical memory.
    3) Run your app. Watch the memory usage.
    Let us know what you find, and feel free to post your code.
    I will not go into all of the things that can cause memory leaks because there have been many posting on this site on how to handle leaks, and I would only be scratching the surface.

  • Fixed a problem of repeated crashing with a new install of Firefox 28 on Windows 8.1

    This isn't so much a question as a contribution of solution.
    On a new computer running Windows 8.1 a new installation of Firefox 28 was repeatedly crashing or freezing ("no response"). Loading pages could be slow, and scrolling jagged. Totally unusable, especially after playing content with Shockwave.
    Although I had not installed any plugins apart from Shockwave and Adobe Acrobat, I had a look and was surprised to see several that I had never asked for. I deactivated those I do not think I need:
    Intel Identity Protection Technology
    Photo Gallery
    WildTangent Games App V2 Presence Detector.
    Since deactivating these, Firefox is running fine. But I had been obliged to use another navigator for a week until finding the time to research the problem.
    Why are these unasked-for and obviously (for at least one) troublesome plug-ins installed by default? It's not doing Firefox any good!

    I return to this thread more than 3 months later, during which time I have not had a single day's satisfactory use of the latest versions of Firefox over Windows 8.1 with Flash content. Not very stable at the best of times (constant increase of memory usage) and when accessing Flash content, ffx came as near as I've ever seen an app come, to getting drunk. Memory goes through the roof, repeated freezes, disappearances/reappearances in the UI and very difficult to shut down. I've tried all the recommended fixes, disabling hardware acceleration, protected mode etc. to no avail (but a LOT of wasted time).
    I've been having to use IE to access Flash content.
    Last night I finally came to what, for me, is a quite radical decision to downgrade. I'm not _recommending_ this to anyone, but some may find it helpful as long as they're aware of risks and take appropriate precautions. Note that the official Mozilla archive page puts switching to a different browser _before_ returning to an older version of Ffx.
    I've gone back to Ffx 28.0 dated 2014.03.15 (the Ides of March, I now note...) and Flash 10.3.183.90 which I downgraded to a bit earlier as part of my attempts to find a solution. Firefox is now stable, memory usage reasonable (currently 202MB for 6 tabs including some Flash content).
    I currently have only one comment, handling of marquees (which has always been jerky in Ffx) I now see is using ''excessive processor time (up to 15% on a Core i3 with 4 GB RAM!)'' and jumps of 5-10 MB in memory usage. The latter returns to initial level at each cycle '''but I rather suspect doesn't in Ffx 31''', which might contribute to an apparent leak. [Edit : this seems all right on a different machine, so will have to find what's causing the problem on mine!]
    Fortunately the cpu and memory usage disappear as soon as the marquee is pushed out of the viewport... so I conclude Firefox is not handling them if it doesn't have to show them.
    Will post back with any developments but at the moment I'm staying with these versions!

    Aperture 3.4.3 crashes when uploading photo to facebook. I have tried for 2 days to uploade 3 photos. The 1 photo will appear on Facebook then aperture crashes. This is a new problem.

    Can you post the full crash log? Does it occur with a new libray?

  • Acrobat repeatedly crashes in batch mode - compress / OCR

    Hi.
    I have c. 2000 scanned documents, each of 300 - 700 Mb.
    I am using Acrobat 11.
    The software repeatedly crashes in batch mode (either when compressing the file - ie saving not too lossy, and in a format accessible only to later versions of Acrobat - I think I pick version 9, or when OCR using ClearScan).
    The sensible thing then would be to run each document one at a time using some kind of scripting software, but alas it does not seem so easy to control OCR that way on Windows.
    Any suggestions?
    Is it churlish of me to expect that a product as mature as Acrobat should just work in its basic functionality?  From searching around on the web, it seems that I am not the only one having this problem.
    Thanks.

    2000 in one go -- you need a server product rather than a desktop product (aka Acrobat).
    Acrobat can accomplish the task on a smaller population of files.
    What number? You'd determine that via trial and error. Perhaps 50 at a whack; or more; or less.
    Applications in Windows tend to not manage memory/resources so well. Acrobat is no exception.
    So you may find it useful to reboot the box periodically.
    Be well...

  • LG Ally text message memory full

    I have had this phone for a little over a month now and I get the message "text memory full" all the time. I have 2 conversations open all the time and I clear them once a week. Other than that I don't have tons of messages. I looked online and it said to clear my cache. Well when I tried to do that it helped some but I deleted all my  live backgrounds that came on the phone and that I use, and now I can't figure out how to get them back. I really like the phone but I'm tired of having to clear all of this stuff every so often. I have never had that with any phone and I don't get a warning to clear stuff before it happens. Does anyone have any suggestions????

    I have given some steps below that may be helpful when getting the “text memory full” message.
    Check your messaging options:
    -Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click on the messages icon
    -Click your menu button (the hard key with the 4 vertical lines)
    -Select settings
    -Delete old messages (I would recommend checking this option, as it ensure the limit is not reached)
    -Test message limit (change to desired number, the bigger the number, the better)
    I would also recommend occasionally (as needed) deleting some of the threads as well.
    -Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click the messages icon
    -Click menu button (the hard key with the 4 vertical lines)
    -Select Delete Threads
    I would also recommend checking the devices memory (I have listed those instructions below
    -Click the icon button (the one with the 32 little boxes’)
    -Click on the settings icon
    -Click SD card & Phone Storage
    -Available space should give you a number in MB’s (megabytes)
    Lastly, I would recommend stopping any applications that don’t need to be running. For instructions click HERE.
    Hope this helps!

  • Memory full.Not enough memory for operation.

    To the Report Design Team,
    It has been suggested that I post this issue here based on another thread I started: Re: Memory full.Not enough memory for operation.
    The template contains a single 24 bit PNG image as a background in the Page Header section, plus 9 image records from a SQL Server image field over 3 pages (3 images per page).  The images are all JPG at 3000x2000 (digital camera).
    To summarize, we are experiencing three problems.
    1. CR2008SP2 Designer issues a Memory Full error when Exporting to PDF.
    2. Using a 3rd party PDF Printer (Bullzip PDF) and CR2008SP2 Designer generates a PDF, however, the CR2008SP2 API throws a "Memory full" exception suggesting Designer and API are different (see stack trace in linked message above).
    3. With only 3 images on 1 page, CR2008 Designer Export to PDF takes 110 seconds to generate a 24MB PDF while our third party PDF Printer generates the same report in 17 seconds and 580KB.
    Edited by: Don Williams on Sep 30, 2009 6:43 AM

    The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
    The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
    When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
    The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
    We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
    We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
    Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
    The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
    Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
    Regards,  Grant.
    PS.  Grr and my message formatting is lost when I edited this message!!!
    There is a 1500 character limit and then all formatting is removed to save space. Break you posts into separate entries.

  • Nokia C5-03 SIM memory full... but NO SIM MESSAGES...

    Hello everyone. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here.
    Recently my C5-03 has a flashing envelope on the screen saying the SIM memory is full.
    I searched on Google and found some topics saying to go to Messages -> SIM messages and delete them...
    But problem is... no SIM messages appear! I'm desperate and can't find any other solution... what can I do?!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Hardstylehunt3r,
    Thank you for your post and welcome to the Nokia discussion forums.
    Sorry to hear about your issue but there certain steps you can try to resolve this issue.
    Memory full messages may occur if there are too many applications running at the same time or if there is not enough free space in the phone memory. Depending on the error message, the following actions can be taken:
    "Memory Full: Close some applications and try again"
    In this case there are too many applications active at the same time. The problem can be fixed by closing some of the applications:
    Long press the Menu key to see the list of active applications.
    Select the applications which are not needed and close them.
    If this doesn't help, switch off and restart the phone.
    "Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
    The phone notifies you if the phone memory or memory card memory is getting low. There can be different error messages shown this situation, e.g.:
    "Memory Full: Delete or remove some data from C: Phone memory"
    "Disk Full : Automatic retrieval of mailbox for exchange disabled"
    To free phone memory, transfer some data to the memory card with the File mgr application (select Menu > Applications > File mgr.). Select or mark files to be moved, select Options >Organise > Move to folder and then the destination folder.
    In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
    Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
    Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
    Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
    Saved images, videos, or sound files.
    Contact information.
    Calendar notes.
    Downloaded application packages.
    If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
    Any other data that you no longer need
    If possible, use the memory card instead of phone memory in the Camera application (selectOptions > Settings > Memory in use to define the memory where the images are stored). You can also use Nokia Suite to transfer images and video clips to your PC.
    If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
    Or you can try this:
    To release the phone memory and change the email store from the phone memory to the memory card, follow the steps below.
    Select Menu > Messaging and Options > Settings > Other.
    Select  Memory in use> Memory card.
    To question Copy all messages to the new message memory?, select Yes.
    To question Save original messages?, select No if you want to release the phone memory or select Yes if you wish to keep the original messages in the phone memory.
    Alternatively you can sync your phone with Nokia suite and clear the messages that way if it is not showing on your device. Full instructions on how to sync can be found on the follwing link:
    http://support.ovi.com/osc/en_GB/service/ovi_on_your_computer/howto/support-suite-syncing-and-backin...,
    If this doesnt help you can try doing a soft reset by inputting code *#7780#. This wont delete any data but rather reset your phone settings. If the device ask for a default code this is usually 12345.
    There's a lot to try to resolve here so give it a go and let me know if any helps.
    Regards
    Raoul_Duke
