Why does Illustrator CS5.5 crash when opening 1.5GB sized vector layered files on my iMac OS X?

1.5GB for a vector file is very large. If you can ever open this file would recomend  file >> save as >> turn off PDF compatibility.
Can you please tell us why your file is so large, you may have a problem such as deleted global swatches, or an exceptionally large number of items in your symbols, styles, brushes palette. For even the most complex illustration filling the entire 227.54" artboard, you should be under 20mb if you have no embedded or linked images.

  • IMAC early 2009 2GB RAM, 2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Im currently running Snow LEopard 10.6

So I have an iMAC early 2009 2GB RAM, 2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Im currently running Snow LEopard 10.6 & I tried upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 today and right before it finishes it cancels download and says unable to download application "NSInternalInconsistentexception" ??? how do i fix this

Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store, so your choice is Yosemite. One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won't have to go though the revert process.
Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

  • Random crashes when doing routine editing, then log & transfer

I have been experiencing crashes when performing simple editing then returning to Log & Transfer to pull in more footage into the project. I did a permissions repair which seemed to work for a short time - but now it is crashing again. I also followed Shane's advice to disable the Remove Advanced Pulldown and Multiple Frames setting in the Log & Transfer preferences. I have a new MacBook Pro 2.66 ghz and new Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro 7.

  • Photoshop CS6 crashing when crop/resize on Mac OS 10.9.5

How do we troubleshoot when photoshop crashes several times a day?? seems to happen most when cropping images.
On the adobe website it's saying there's online chat support within 90 days of activation - but have been around in circles and not found this option. such an expensive product not to have proper support, especially as I read most articles in this discussion group are unresolved.
I have the crash logs - the only meaningful part to me is :
Exception Codes are pointing to EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV), KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000010. Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread.
(further down) - Error Code 0x00000004. Trap number 14.
I can't see any additional plug-ins installed, and can paste the full crash report here if anyone's interested in reading it!

Ask in the PS forum and provide exact system information. Most such issues can simply be attributed to hardware acceleration issues, in this case most likely overlay drawing issues with the crop preview. Turn that stuff off in the prefs and see if it makes a difference.

  • IPhoto 6.0.5 crashes when clicking the Edit button

On some of my albums....not all of them.... When clicking the Edit button or double clicking one of the photos in that album, to make it bigger so you can use the arrows to move throught the pictures, iPhoto crashes.
It does this every time with certain albums. They are all jpeg, and the ones that are crashing worked fine before this last upgrade of iPhoto. Is there a known problem with this? I have looked around and seems as though people have had some problems similar to this but not exaclty the same.
Is there something that can be done that I don't know about to remedy this?
Any and all help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Scott:
It may be a color profile issue. Download the Automator workflow "Embed sRGB Profile" file from Toad's Cellar and unzip it. Then export one of the problem files to the desktop and drop on the workflow application. Then import the file and see if it will edit OK. If so you can find the files in the Originals folder that are giving you problems and drag them onto the workflow application file. BUT, just in case make a temp backup copy of the iPHoto Library folder beforehand.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Acrobat 9.0 Pro crashes when trying to edit fields

Acrobat 9.0 Professional crashes when I try to edit or add text fields. I am running Windows Vista. All other functions of Acrobat work.

There was an update this last week, taking the current version to 9.3.2. The early versions often have little bugs like you describe, so an update is the first thing to try. If you download the updates from Adobe.com (the downloads>updates page), be sure to download all of them and then install them in order. If you use the updates under help, you can usually update the lowest number one they show and return for any further updates.

  • Premiere Elements 8 crashes when selecting the edit option

    Hi to you all,
I just installed Premiere Elements 8 on my new system.
It is a Intel i5 + 4 GB mem, GTS250 and 400 GB of free disk space.
OS is WIndows 7 64 bits. The system is completely up-to-date with patches, fixes and so on.
BIOS, Drivers etc. All to the latest.
    Starting PE8, no problem
Getting the film from my sony DV on to the disk, no problem.
    Disc menu: no problem
Then when I want to add transitions or titles via the edit menu, Premiere elements 8 crashes. It is not responding anymore and windows is looking for a solution.
I followed the hints and tips on this forum on crashing Elements 8. No help. Quicktime to the latest. ended processes. All no help.
I also started PE8 in WIndows XP SP3 mode. Same problem.
Could it be the 64 bits?
    Any help would be appriciated.
    Richard
    The Netherlands

Thank you all for the quick replies.
I installed the latest Nvidia GTS250 driver (from the Nvidia site) and guess. No crash anymore when selecting the edit menu.
My graphical card is a Asus GTS250 DK/DI/1GB and I was using the latest drivers retrieved from the asus site. Those drivers are old.
I can now continue to evaluate Premiere Elements 8.0
    Thanks all.

  • App crashes when trying to edit specific page

I need to edit a specific page of my site and I cannot open it as the app crashes when trying to. Does this happen often? It is my wife's business site and she is a novice so we are wondering if we should move to a more stable platform. There is nothing fancy on the page. We bought into iLife specifically because it was easy for her to manage and are interested to know if others see the same thing.

Your Public Profile indicates you're running Mac OS X (10.4.10) — if that's the case, you should upgrade to 10.4.11 via  menu > Software Update... then update your Public Profile and try editing your site again.

iWeb is designed for personal sites and is a minor part of Apple's software repertoire. I suggest you consider web-design apps from companies dedicated to their product. Weebly is free and web-based — so you can update the site from any Mac or PC. It also offers e-commerce features:

  • Crash when clicking on edit menu

    Hi,
on a customers computer, adobe reader crashes when clicking on the edit menu (german menu "Bearbeiten").
It doesn't matter if a pdf is open or not.
Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help.
    What can I do?
    Thanks alot,
    Fabian

    Peter,
Yes, I can bring up the Paragraph Styles and the Character palettes with no document open, edit the [Basic Paragraph] style to change the font family, then open a blank document, and new text boxes will use that font.
I'm on a bit of a deadline right now, so I ended up uninstalling ID CS5 and reinstalling it.  I can now successfully bring up the Edit menu and the right-click context menu both in a blank document and in the document I was working on before.  I'm sure the problem will reappear again at some random point in the future, so I am still looking for fixes that don't involve reinstalling the app.
BTW, I have tried exporting my work document to IDML and re-importing it, but to no avail.  I've also tried toggling Dynamic Spelling (past threads have suggested this as a possible fix), but also to no avail.
It would be really nice if Adobe products produced some sort of crash dump or bug report when this sort of thing happens...

  • After upgrading to ios5.1 photo app crashes when trying to edit "cropping"photos. I've shut it down and also tried a reboot.

Does anyone else experience this problem?
When I try to edit photos in the photo app and in the camera app
I try to crop them and the system will randomly crash.  Giving me
either a circle ticking logo on a black screen or the system will
reboot completely with a black screen, Apple logo, and then
    back to the lock screen.

I have a PC running Windows Vista so what I had to do was in iTunes make sure that all my photos were SYNC'd with my pictures directory. After that when I was sure that I had all the photos that were on my iPhone in my windows pictures directories then I deleted all my pictures off of my iPhone.  In order to do this once you plug your iPhone into your computer via the 30 pin dock connector cable, and after the computer recognizes your iPhone, a window will pop up in Windows that shows your device.  iOs will allow you to open up a file folder that contains your photos.
Note: there may be several file folders depending on the library size of your pictures and if you have photo stream enabled.  In my case I had four folders and these folders or a combination of numbers and letters. These folder names are randomly generated through iOS but just be aware that these folders contain your photos and videos. I know that one folder was just my photo stream because I did not have very many pictures, and two folders had my entire photo library and camera roll in them and another folder had just my videos in it.
The process is pretty simple: once I open these folders, I highlighted all my pictures and deleted them. Once they were deleted off the phone then I went into the iTunes "summary" page for my iPhone.  I then went to the "photos" tab and I made sure that the box was checked to sync my photos. In my case I don't have my entire photo library on my phone so I have selected folders button checked.  Then I just SYNC'd my phone again. It didn't take too long for iTunes to transfer all my photos back to my phone. After this process was complete I checked all my photos and tried to crop them and had no problems. I also did some screen captures on my phone by pressing the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time. Again I tried to crop photos and had no problem.
So what I believe with the expert advice from Adam Christiansen of the Mac cast podcast was that I had a corrupt photo file or corrupt metadata from a photo file. So what this was doing was causing a system crash and reboot in iOS. I was able to verify this in my diagnostic files on my iPhone in the settings / general / about / diagnostics and usage / diagnostics and usage data TABS.
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AS IT ALLEVIATED MY PROBLEM.  I HAVEN'T HAD ANYMORE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE AND WHAT I'VE DESCRIBED ABOVE IS A WAY TO DO IT WITHOUT RESTORING YOUR ENTIRE IPHONE. IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS AFTER DOING THIS THEN YOU HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM WHICH PROBABLY REQUIRES THAT YOU DO DO A COMPLETE RESTORE OF YOUR IPHONE. BUT BEFORE YOU DO THE RESTORE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BACKUP YOUR IPHONE AND I WOULD SUGGEST DOING THAT TO YOUR COMPUTER AND NOT TO ICLOUD; MY REASON FOR THIS IS THOUGH ICLOUD IS A WAY TO DO IT IT JUST TAKES MORE TIME TO RESTORE FROM A BACKUP VIA ICLOUD AS OPPOSED TO A TETHERED BACKUP VIA THE 30 PIN DOCK CONNECTOR CABLE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

  • IPhoto 11 crashes when cropping

iPhoto keeps crashing whenever I open "Crop" in the Edit mode. I've tried opening old pictures and recently imported pictures and its the same whenever I try to "Crop". I have rebooted iPhoto and the Mac itself and nothing changes. I can do any other sort of edit, save, flip through pictures without a problem. I am using a new 11 inch Mac Book Air. I was editing a lot of newly imported pics yesterday without a problem but opened my MacBook today to see it had rebooted itself overnight for some reason. Its typical .. I'm on a road trip when this happens and am far far away from Apple Care!!

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
It that does not help backup your library and depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto and repair the library
