Aperture 3 crashes on iphoto import

Question

I´ve read multiple threads here regarding this topic, but all of them are locked from replies.
What´s up with that apple?
Anyway.. I´ve tried starting up in 32 bit mode, I´ve cleaned up my iphoto library. I´ve basicly tried everything mentioned in the (many) other threads about this problem, but it´s still no go.
My iphoto library has 40k photos in it, and I´ve managed to import about 10k before I get the beach ball. I´ve tried to import using different settings maybe ten times now with the same result. I also tried to let the beach ball spin over night.
Now, I have some movies in my library. Could that be the reason?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. But hurry before the topic gets locked.
PS. I use Aperture 3.0.3 and iPhoto 8.1.2, and per October 16 my whole system is up to date.
I´m getting second thoughts about the whole "It just works" thing here.

That's what that whole "this thread is archived" thing means.
So far, any threads I've seen on import from iPhoto issues come done to the inconsistencies in the iPhoto db or trying to import unsupported material
So given this

I would guess the videos may be the problem. Alternatively, it may be a damaged or locked file(s).
A simple test: File -> Import -> Show iPhoto Browser and drag over an Event that you know contains videos. If that fails, try one that has none. If the one that has none succeeds then I would guess the videos are the issue.
If, however, you can import with videos, then I would Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
