Aperture 3 Email Export Setting

If I set the Email export setting to 'Email Medium - jpeg' it reverts back to 'jpeg - original' after restarting. You may want to watch out for this one creating huge email attachments.

In Aperture Preferences/Export/Email Photo Export preset, after changing the size factor, click on the arrows beside the size, and then choose Edit. Now in the sidebar to the resulting dialogue make sure the size you just selected is the one now highlighted -- if not select the one you wanted and click OK.
There has seemed to be times the change does not get fully reflected. That the change does not get made may be a bug, but the change can be made, and adhered to.

Aperture email not working

I tried to send a photo via Apple mail and the export spinning wheel lit for 2 seconds and stopped, the photo did not create an email.
I have my setting to Mail.
I cannot remember if I exported a photo since the last recent update.
I have never had this issue before.
Here is what I have tried:

Check the "Export" presets you are using in "Aperture > Preferences > Export > Mail"; after selecting one of the "Jpeg" options, set the selector to "Edit" and look, if the "Export" presets are still o.k.

if Mail will not work at all, independent of the library or account .
Mail works fine and I could send a photo from iPhoto.
I will change my profile, I thought when I hit the latest version at the bottom of the post to indicate what I have to send that it showed it in the post.

Have a look at the Aperture Preferences-Export. What are set in the Email settings
Then have a look at the preset that is named in the Export preset box. Make sure it is a valid preset

You can send over WiFi, but it sounds as if you need to setup your Gmail account, or did you do this already?

I have recently purchased the iphone 5S and have two AOL email accounts set up on it. They could both receive and send mail on the first day, but from the second day only 1 can send mail (both still receive). I get an message saying "Unable to send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed." This has been the response now for 3 days and suddenly this morning, I was able to send an email from this account, but only the one and now it's back to that same message. I have deleted and added the account again, using various methods. I even reset my phone and set it all up again from beginning with no luck. I have read forums and it appears many have this same problem and I wondered if anyone has had it recently on this phone and how they fixed it. Someone said just use the AOL app to send from this account, yes that can be done, but it's inconvenient having to sign in all the time when i have a mail app that should work automatically. Any suggestions would be welcomed!!

I am not sure if this issue is going to help you but lets give it a try.
I know that where im from, which is the Netherlands, I am not able to sent e-mails from my iPhone or any other mobile device by using 3G or a random WIFI acces point. The provider only allowes you to sent e-mails when you are connected to a network of there own. Which means if you have provider "101" and your email settings are set up for this provider in your iPhone but your using the network of a friend of yours which is provider "202" you cannot sent emails from his network. Though you can receive them you may not sent.
As I said, I am not aware if this issue is the same for you totaly depents on the country and provider your using.

I found some resources that I think might help with the visibility of your IMAP email folders on your iPad and Mac.
On your iPad, you may need to follow the steps in this article to make sure your folders are visible:

On your Mac, I am not sure if you have the sidebar enabled, but you can enable it using the steps in the article below. When this is showing, you should see your email account listed near the bottom with a triangle next to it. When the triangle is pointing down, it should show your folders:

HT1692 Have recently installed itunes and outlook on a new computer. Have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, Help!

Very frustrated now that I have recently installed itunes and outlook on this new computer. Everything worked perfectly ok on my laptop which was also 64-bit Windows 7 and running 32-bit Microsoft Office 2010 Pro. I have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook tho only use contacts and calendar in relation to one of these. Cannot sync itunes with the correct contacts and calendars, when I sync the calendar and contacts are empty. Not sure if there is any way to point itunes to particular address books and calendars.
I have installed and uninstalled itunes 3 times and thank goodness have a backup

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

They can share an Apple ID, but each device must use a different email address when setting up FaceTime. Create a gmail email (or hotmail, or ...) address and use that on one of the devices when you setup FaceTime.
You don't actually have to use the 'new' email address, it is probably just used as an index to reference the correct device when initiating a call via the FaceTime server.

TS3276 I have two email accounts set up on Mail. One shows the unread messages and the other one doesn't... how can I get it to show both account's unread messages?

Open Mail preferences and select Accounts then MailBox Behavior. You probably need to unclick the safe draft to server.

Can Aperture not be set up to show a "Last Import" smart folder?

I'm trying to make the transfer from using iPhoto to using Aperture.
One thing I found really great in iPhoto was the smart folder that was simply set to show the last import, no matter when that import was done - whether it was today, yesterday or 6 months ago.
The reason I found this so handy was because I set my iPad up in iTunes to only sync the photos from that Last Import smart folder, rather than all my photos.
That way, every time I synced my iPad, I always had my most recent photos on my iPad, no matter when the pictures were taken.
Now with Aperture, I cannot see a way to create anything similar. The best I can do is to create a smart folder with photos imported within the last month, let's say.
But the problem with that is that if I haven't imported any new photos for over a month, then the next time I sync my iPad, then all my photos will no longer be on the iPad.
If I create a longer timeframe, to let's say 3 months, then I might end up with way too many photos trying to sync across, and that's something I don't want. I could end up with hundreds and hundreds of photos, and I don't have the free space to be able to do this!
When I used "Last Import" with iPhoto, then I always only had around 50 or 60 photos, because that's just generally how many I usually imported at any one time. Sometimes it was more, sometimes less, but the average worked for me.
So to sum up: Can Aperture not be set up to show a "Last Import" smart folder, regardless of date?
Or alternatively, is there any way I could "hack" or "trick" Aperture into doing something like this so that I always have a managable amount of the most recent photos on my iPad?

that does not seem to be an easy probem as you discovered.
Some Workarounds:
You might to use a smart album rule "Import session is" instead of a date range, but that will not be automatic.
Create a folder "recently added" and keep your recent projects inside that folder; create a smart album at the top level of that folder; move older projects somewhere else.
Or enable the Photo Stream - that is the current replacement for the "most recently added" album; it will (is supposed to) always show the most recent 1000 images.
If you are familiar with AppleScript, you can make Aperture run an AppleScript on import (Import Settings) to add your imported image to an album of new images. From time to time remove the older images.
Sorry, but no really convenient way to do it..

I have a PDF export setting that I use for a specific printer in my shop and I want to provide it to a customer.

What is the best export setting from QuickTime Pro 7 for standard DVD

I have several AVI movies I took and want to import them into iMovie, so I can create a DVD that will play in any DVD player or computer. (Along with a bunch of pictures.)
Should I convert them with QuickTime Pro 7 (QTP7) to another format, and if so, what is the best export setting.
I have export them using *_QuickTime 10_* and QTP7 to *MOV, MP4, & M4V* and the output is *+bad bad bad+*.
I have tried both export and save-as. Neither has done a good job.
The internal information of the AVI movies are: (as reported by QT)
Format: Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions, 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz

That depends on your specific work flow and the codec(s) involved. Generally speaking, if the file plays in the QT Player and is "conversion" compatible, then the file can be added directly to iDVD (i.e., unlike iMovie '08/'09/'11 which requires the file to be "edit" compatible with QT).

The quality of your output file will depend on a number of things: primarily the quality of your source file, the efficiency of the target codec, and the specific settings used. (About which you did not elaborate.) The rule of thumb here is that your output will never be better than your input and each re-comprssion of the data has the potential to degrade the quality to some degree.

The "Export" option re-compresses the data while the "Save As..." option only places the original data in an MOV file container. So if this output is "bad, bad, bad," then I suspect your source file(s) are not of high quality to begin with. (This seems to be confirmed by the very low audio sampling rate which implies the video data rate was probably also low to conserve file storage space.)

The basic codecs here appear to be both playback and conversion compatitible with QT (other than the very low sampling rate which some QT apps may not like). Thus, if your work flow is to simply burn DVDs that can be played on commercial players, the AVI could most likely be dropped to iDVD for authoring. On the other hand, if you are editing in a recent version of iMovie, then that app may not like the AVI file container. In this case, the best quality you can likely expect would be to use the "Save As..." option to place the data in an MOV file container and import to iMovie.
Unfortunately, editing in iMovie '08/'09/'11 is done "by reference" which means your output file will be created by exporting the impoted source data to another compression format. The default would be H.264/AAC which is a highly compressed format which in turn would be re-compressed again by iDVD to multiplexed MPEG2/PCM content further reducing quality by using a less efficient video codec. My recommendation for export from iMovie in this case would be AIC/Linear PCM. (I.e., to export your edits to the Apple intermediat video codec using the original file size and frame rate with just a bit of "sharpening" and using 16-bit/48 kHz Linear PCM audio (which is what will be used to create the DVD).

Yes. Simply create a new SD project, select your theme, drop the compatible AVI content to the appropriate "drop" area(s), add photos as desired, preview the results, and author the DVD if/when satisfied.

Can you change export setting?

Any way of changing the export setting on LiveType? I'm working with dvcpro codec 720 60 and the default export is Animation. Anyway of changing this on LiveType? Thanks!

LiveType always exports as Animation because of the Alpha channel.
There is a setting for 720 HD in Edit > Project Properties. You will have to customize the frame rate if your FCP Timeline is 60P. Easy enough to do, just type in the numbers.
Instead of rendering a movie, you should save the LiveType project file and import that into FCP (it has a .ipr ending). You will have to re-render both the .ipr and the .mov output from LiveType. Save yourself a step and just import the .ipr. It can be treated exactly as if it were a video clip.
