Aperture 3 FACES - two people assigned to one name (reassign? split?)

In Aperture 3's faces, I have two people, both named Lindsey, who have been assigned to one name. I have looked and looked for a way to split them, reassign them to two separate names and I cannot find a way to do that.

You are going to have to go into the faces interface for lindsey - double click - make sure you are looking at all of the photos. Hit the confirm button and then use option-click or option-drag to remove one of the people from that "Lindsey" - now that that person is un-named name her something else and use the confirm faces to put the rest of her photos within that name.

Lightroom Faces: Two People with the Same Name

I downloaded Lightroom CC last night and came up with the following question:
I have an uncle and a cousin with the same name...can Lightroom create two different "people" or will I need to name them each differently? I'm guessing it's the latter but figured I'd pose the question in case there is an alternate solution.

It's a good idea to work with hierarchies. But for the face option to work, you will have to have two unique names.
I just did a quick test.
I have some images of twins in my catalogue, Tom and Boris.
Under them, I created a "name" Twin. Because of the hierarchy, I can apply Boris>Twin to one image, Tom>Twin to another and both of them to a third photo.
So I drag a name box around them and type "Twin". The drop down (auto fill) lets me choose between two identical looking entries called "twin". No way of knowing which one to pick. And maybe you've noticed that the auto fill drop down list starts with entries you used recently. So no good remembering that the top "Twin" will always be "Boris" for example.
The count of used keywords only goes up for one of them if I happen to use the same entry twice.
The only way for this to work (as far as I can tell now) is to drag the appropriate "Twin" from the keywordlist onto the right face in the People view (O).
I work with hierarchies, but I make sure I have unique names.
Also, I don't use spaces in the names, but rather JohnEllis, SteveEllis, etc. That way, if I have a very long list with Ellis members and also a lot of people called John or Steve, it's much easier to narrow the search for a particular person (like in smart collections).
Opening the properties for the keyword, I make sure that "include on export" is NOT on, so you won't see that strange looking name Number123JohnEllis in your exported image.
I have "export containing keywords" and "export synonyms" (and now with LR CC of course "Person") checked. As a synonym, you can put "John, Ellis, John Ellis, Steve Ellis family" and all of these will export.
Hope this makes sense.
Like John suggests, if you already create the Ellis Family>Steve Ellis Family>John Ellis>John>Numer123JohnEllis then you don't have to enter the synonyms, as long as you have "export containing keywords" on all of them checked, as well as "include on export" (except for the Number123JohnEllis keyword which shouldn't have "include on export" checked).
Working with hierarchies can really help you in your keywording. But it will take some time to set it up.

ICal sync between two people if only one person has a .Mac account

Is there a way for two people to sync/edit iCal calendars if only one person has a .Mac account? I'd only want to selectively share/sync part of my iCal calendar and not the entire iCal calendar.
Any ideas?

Oh I turned on airplane mode and disconnected from the internet just to be sure sync doesn't get stuck.
Asked me to resolve 6 conflicts.. that's a good sign. It is taking a long time though. I hope it won't take so long every time I go from one computer to another. Otherwise it is easier to pass the files via iChat.
The file for address book is addressbook data in library/applicationsupport/address book
for iCal I make an export VCal file and then on the other computer delete the calendar and import the new one.
On the computer with Music I set it to manage manually.
OK I think I will have to do it like that because this took forever then it said it would have to modify 836 entries on my calendar for what was almost the same file.
The photo sync is annoying but I just turn off iPhoto when it asks to find my library (or you can make another program be the default program when you attach a camera and that program will come on then you can just quit it). I find the auto photo sync annoying as it takes so long and I would rather do that manually.

Apologies if this is a very obvious question. I have one iMac that my husband and I use, he has an iPhone that he syncs with the iMac via iTunes for app such as docs to go. I recently purchased an iPad, I want to also sync with the iMac. Is it possible to use two iTunes and two iCloud acc to one iMac? We would like to pick and choose what we sync as we keep separate docs etc on the iMac, can this be done?

Yes. Just set up your own account in System Preferences > Accounts (User &groups in Mountain Lion). You'll have your own seperate everything including mail.

I thought I saw something prior to the release of Leopard that this was going to be the case. I want to have one calendar that both my wife and I can view, add to, etc. But just one calendar. We currently each have our own "home" calendar, that we subscribe to each others, but it would be way better if we could just be accessing a single calendar. what gives?

What you read about prior to the release of Mac OS X 10.5 and iCal 3 requires one of these solutions:
• a .Mac account which supports multiple users
• iCal Server, a component of Mac OS X Server 10.5
• the Darwin Calendar Server, an open-source, Apple-supported equivalent
• another CalDAV server, typically found only in enterprise and higher education settings
• BusySync, a client-server mechanism for sharing calendars locally*
• or, SyncTogether, which extends such capabilities to remote clients and servers across the internet
*calendar sharing is limited to multiple users across a single machine or multiple users across several machines on a local area network
There is no Apple solution to the issue you raise—intended for individual or small group users—which is simple and cost effective to implement.

Two people can open one InDesign file at the same time

We have Mac (10.8.5) users who share files on a file server. They are connected to the file shares via NFS. The users are using Creative Suite 5.5. When a user opens a file, they get the appropriate ".idlk" lock file. For example:

As far as I used to know, this used to prevent anyone else from opening that same file. But now, multiple users can open the same file. Whoever makes the first save seems to win. The next person who tries to save the file will get the following error:
"Another user has modified the Adobe InDesign document TEST.indd. To prevent damage to the document, InDesign is shutting down."
InDesign then locks up and starts beachballing. The only option is to force quit.
I tried updating the users to the latest version of CS5.5 InDesign which is 7.5.3.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Maybe it is something to do with using NFS? Our Mac's are bound to AD, and use NFS shares because they have issues with SMB/CIFS. They are connecting to an EMC NAS. All of the users have read/write permissions to the files.
I tried the same process on a test AFP share that I created from a Mac OS X Server, and then it works as expected. When the second user tries to open the file, they cannot, and they get an error message:
"Cannot open the document TEST.indd. You may not have permission or the document may be open already."
Why doesn't it behave this way on the NFS share?
The permissions look comparable for each:

Email to MMS on iOS 6 shows two senders instead of one?

I've been using a group email to forward messages to several recipient's email and MMS. Ever since upgrading to iOS 6, the users with iPhones receiving the message through their carrier's mms email ([email protected] for example) show that the message was from two people, and not one. It shows as coming from myself, and then also the address that the original message was sent to (ie. the group email). The problem is, if they reply, the reply is sent to the entire group of 30 people instead of just me. Didn't have the problem before the update, but it is consistent ever since. Any idea how to overcome this? I've tested out iPhone 4, 4S and 5, with iOS 6 and 6.0.1.

I have the same issue - the new folder appeared in the Videos app on the iPad when I downloaded How I Met Your Mother season 6 episode 3 directly on the iPad. Previously I had downloaded episodes 1 and 2 on my Mac, and then transferred them to the iPad doing a Sync in iTunes. So now I have two icons for Season 6 of How I Met Your Mother in the Videos app on my iPad: one with episode 3 that I downloaded on the iPad itself, and one with episodes 1 and 2 that I downloaded on my Mac. Both have the same folder name, and both have the same icon for Season 6.
Were you able to resolve the issue? A complete reboot of the iPad did not resolve the issue for me.

If you have separate user accounts on the computer, then your downloaded apps are stored in your iTunes Library. See the following for dealing with having multiple users on the same computer: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer.
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data. Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

Two people, two iPhones, one computer, same iTunes account?

My girl friend and I just recently purchased our own iPhones. I've owned an iPod for a couple of years so my iTunes account has been active for that long. When I synced MY iPhone it went well I wasn't concerned. However, when my girlfriend synced her iPhone (even after signing herself up for her own account) it put ALL my phone numbers, music, etc., etc., on HER iPhone. Not good for either one of us I must say. So, can two people with two iPhones using the same computer sync to iTunes TOTALLY SEPARATE AND TOTALLY EXCLUSIVE OF EACH OTHER'S saved telephone numbers, music, games, pics, etc., etc.

Your iTunes same computer account can handle many iPods and iPhones on that particular computer and account. However, be sure to _backup your computer_ (not the iPhone/iPod. The computer).
The scenario being your computer came up with viruses not removable except from a computer wipe and restore and all of your movies, songs, etc are wiped with it. When that happens, all your iPods and iPhones will be wiped the next time you reconnect. It pops an error message saying this is not the same account and you have to wipe and sync to be allowed to use it.

Gifted a playlist to two people; one didn't receive

As stated in the title, I gifted a playlist to two people, but one person says he didn't receive it (And we checked his email together to be sure). I entered his email address after another one and a comma, per instructions, and I did pay twice the price.
The gift doesn't show up in Purchases; is there a way to check whether an error occurred with delivery?
