Aperture 3 in the Mac App Store help!!

To be able to purchase this app in the Mac App Store, must you have Aperture 1 or 2? Is it possible to get Aperture 3 as the first Aperture software I've purchased? I would like to know so that I do not waste my money on something that will not work.

concerning the license issues please read following article:
http://aperture.maccreate.com/2011/01/07/dumb-forum-posts-otd-aperture-license-f orbids-commercial-use/
You will find out that the new conditions are even in favor for you and give you more legal possibilities of using Aperture than the boxed version does.
To the question why Apple does give you a huge price drop you can only speculate. Some thoughts you can find here:

Summa summarum you can rest assured that the new price cut is something great for you to enjoy and Aperture seems to have a bright future.

  • What does the Mac App store mean for existing users of Aperture?

I was wondering how the Mac App store will affect existing users of the software. I have purchased Aperture and upgrades since its launch but because I've not purchased through the App store, how will I gain access to future upgrades?
When I go to the Aperture app in the store it shows as being installed but as I've not purchased it through the store, will I be eligible for future upgrades or will Apple expect me to purchase again?

There is no way Apple can update Aperture 3 without offering that update to every user, regardless of where the app was purchased. So, expect that Aperture 3.1.2 or whatever will be available to you in some fashion.
When the next paid Upgrade (to Aperture 4?) comes along, then we'll have to see what arrangements the offer.

  • Getting the Mac App Store. Help

So i have a MacBook Pro and its running 10.5.8. Im trying to upgrade to Lion and i seem to have an isue because i can't download the Mac app store to get it because you need to have had Snow Lepoard now on the apple website it tells you to check out "Snow Leapord" but redirects you to the Lion page.
So my question is how am i suppose to get Lion without being able to get the App Store. Because Appple is tryiing to be Enviromentally friendly with the App store. I don't want to have to buy Snow Leapord and then get Lion. It would simply make no sense for me to do so.
So you see my dilema here can anyone help me.
    Thanks again.

You must install Snow Leopard in order to have the Mac App Store installed so you can download and install Lion.
Lion requirements:  Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM.
Apple - OS X Lion - Get Lion in July. Only from the Mac App Store.
Apple - Press Info - Mac OS X Lion Available Today From the Mac App Store

You can change the settings in Security & Privacy to "Anywhere"...
That should work... as to whether the printer driver will work, that's another question.

  • Aperture 3, the Mac App Store, and Multiple Computers

    Can anyone answer this question:
I have Aperture 3 installed on my Macbook Pro since the Feb 2009 release. Obviously, I bought the DVD for install. And of course, when I log into the Mac App Store, it shows as installed on my computer.
If I bought a second mac and logged into the MAS, would it "know" that I have Aperture 3 linked to my account, realize it was not installed on the new mac and allow me to install it, or would I have to purchase a new copy at $80?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Bryan,
Only apps bought via the MAS can be updated or downloaded to another computer. Even though it shows AP as being installed, you'll notice it doesn't appear in your list of purchases - which is where you'd go to re-install. It only recognizes that you already have the application in order to prevent you from unintentionally buying it again.
But if you purchase another Mac you can certainly use your current DVD or download the trial to install it on that second machine - AFAIK the EULA doesn't prevent this as long as its for the same user and not being used on both machines at the same time.
I have the sneaking suspicion that Aperture will no longer offer upgrade pricing and instead charge a lower fixed rate (a la iWork) for each major version. What this means in the long term is a bit fuzzy though: while I'm all for lower prices, $79 is clearly consumer territory and I'm not sure how this will affect the orientation of the app in the future. That, and the influx of non-pro users this price drop will certainly bring. I believe the more users there are the better, but I just hope Apple stays focused on Aperture's primary mission and continues to cater to pro photographers. It would break my heart to see this amazing software devolve into iPhoto Plus...

  • Aperture in the Mac App Store

    Hi
I'm considering getting Aperture from the Mac App Store due to its appealing price of 44.99 pounds
However, i want to wait a little while before I get it, but Im worried the price may go up
Does anyone know if this is an introductory price, or if apple will raise the price in a few weeks maybe? I'm hoping I can buy it a few month down the line for the same price
    Thanks
    Andy

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
    Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading...

  • How do I register my iLife CD - installed iMovie to the mac App Store?

Hey, so I bought apps that were in CDs such as the iMovie, iPhoto, Aperture, etc. How do I register it to the new Mac App Store? I want to link it to my Apple ID. The App Store doesn't recognize the apps, Please help me,
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Only the components of the iLife suite of software are available from the Mac App Store.
The updates for your iLIfe bundled software will be available from your Apple menu / Software Update, not the MAS.
No need to register or link anything.     You do not have to  re purchase.
However, if you buy apps directly from the Mac App Store, you can re download without having to buy again.

  • Can I move images edited with the trial version to the version from the Mac App Store?

I have been using the trial version of Aperture to determine if I like it. I am now ready to buy Aperture from the Mac App Store. Will my edited images be moved over to the licensed version automatically or what do I need to do to not loose my edits?
    Thanks for your help.
    Bob

You will be able to open the trial library in the purchased application even if it doesn't happen automatically.

  • My Mid-2011 Macbook Air becomes extremely hot when installing apps from the Mac App Store and when deleting apps

My Mid-2011 Macbook Air 13-inch (OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion) becomes hot to the touch when trying to delete large documents, watching videos after waking it from sleep-mode and when installing applications from the Mac App Store. This has also been happening with OSX Lion before I upgraded it to Mountain Lion.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
What needed to be done the day that you set up the new Mac was go into the Mac App Store (MAS), sign into your iTunes/MAS Apple ID, go to the Purchases pane and Accept the iLife apps that would have been there in a special section. That would have sent you Mac's unique identifier code to Apple's servers and verified that this Mac was eligible for the bundled iLife suite and then registered these apps into your MAS account.
You might try going to  ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist, delete the adption plist, restart the Mac and then go to the Purchaes pane and see if you can Accept the apps into your account.

  • Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?

    Hello,
I was wondering if I could add my existing, licensed apps to the list of app 'Purchases' that I have on the Mac App Store.
The reason for this is that I recently suffered the inevitable hard disk failure and I had to rebuild my MacBook Pro from scratch (with the help of Time Machine and Migration Assistant, etc.). As usual, I hadn't really maintained my MBP for quite a while and things sort of got away from me, in terms of data, apps, preferences, permissions, users (my personal account, my wife's account, my old work account...), etc.
So I wanted to rebuild my MBP on a clean slate. I like having the ability to quickly download and install just the right apps that I "really" need from MAS safe in the knowledge that:
they are there (assuming they're still available through MAS) with a full description of what they do and when I bought them, etc.
they are going to be in the most up-to-date version,
I'll be able to download and install them cleanly with no corruption from years of multiple user preference changes and permissions, etc.
that they will be managed and maintained (updated) through the same mechanism,
    so much more.
The benefits of having apps from MAS are easy to see when compared to going through my downloads folder and emails looking for the latest installers, working out what they're for in the first place, finding the license key in some forgotten e-mail, etc.
I am aware that I can build a clean machine and then restore just the right apps in their most up-to-date version as I had them on my backups.  The one thing to say about that is that the apps may have been used and abused once too many times and their preferences, etc. may not be in the most desirable form. It's just not as elegant as the MAS solution.
I realise that not all apps, app versions, or app vendors, are available through MAS. But I still have a fair few apps currently available on MAS that were bought prior to the existence of MAS, prior to them becoming available on MAS, or were bought directly for some other reason (by mistake).
So I wondered if there was any way I could convert my legitimate licenses from simply a direct purchase to one through MAS and have those apps listed under my 'Purchases' list. It would reduce the amount of work I'd have to do, not only to rebuild my machine but also to maintain it.
I cannot find any reference or way of having this work the way I would like it to. But I was hoping that some Apple guru would enlighten me.
I have thought about the possible mechanisms something like this would need to work and I must admit I see some not insurmountable issues (not as much technical as legal or possibly logistical). I realise that MAS is a service in its own right and as such has its own Terms, Conditions and Licensing that may not be compatible with the licenses that I already have. I also realise that when I purchase an app from MAS that I'm paying for the entire service including updates and use on multiple machines that I may own, etc. Obviously I do not want to pay the full purchase cost again for the same app twice, but I am willing to pay a small conversion/upgrade fee to have it managed as part of my 'Purchases' on MAS.  Think of it in the same terms as iTunes works.  I can purchase music, etc. but I can also add my own CD collection and have it managed by iTunes and store it in the cloud should anything go wrong with my local machine, etc.
So if this is currently not possible, then for the Apple MAS product managers out there, consider this as a suggestion/feedback.  I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts in more detail about not only how to achieve this for now but also for the future when you may add existing applications to MAS that people may have previously bought direct and would like to have managed through MAS going forward. The benefits to the users are hopefully clear, but from Apple's perspective I hope that you can see the advantages too, commercially, etc.
PS: I apologise for the wordiness of my query and overuse of 'etc.', etc.

Can I add my existing, licensed apps to my list of 'Purchases' on the Mac App Store so I don't have to buy them twice?
No. Only apps purchased from the App Store can be re downloaded for free including updates.

  • How can I login to the Mac App Store?

My wife cannot login to the Mac App Store on her MacBook Pro.  This first happened under Snow Leopard and is now happening under Lion.  I have googled extensively for a solution, but not yet found one that lasts long term.  We have binned a Networkinterfaces.plist a few times and this has given us temporary access to the App Store, but now it's lost it again and we can't even find the plist to bin it!
The error message we get when trying to login to the Mac App Store is, "your device or computer could not be verified".
Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll remember it for next time.  We seem to have got temporary reprieve, which we think might be due to resolving a conflict between iCal and MobileMe.

  • Why is the Mac App Store loading the wrong Apple ID when I try to redownload my copy of Lion?

    Pretext:
I purchased my MacBook Pro 17" Back in March of 2011 from MicroCenter in Madison Heights, MI. Later I purchase OS X Lion 10.7 from the Mac App Store on July 23rd, 2011 under my Account along with a couple of other programs. I know it is under my account because, I have redownloaded the OS X Lion Installer twice before (10.7.1 and 10.7.2), making my own bootable copies on USB drives as emergency copies.
Now my Apple ID has never changed, the password is still the same as when I set it up back when I signed up for my iTunes Music Store account, the only thing changed is my payment options (reissued debit cards, and a bank switch). The account has always been mine alone, never part of any family account or anything of the sort. Outside of that, nothing has ever been editted on my accounts.
Last month my father decides to finally update from his 2002 Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) to a new MacBook Pro a month ago. I show him how to make a bootable USB stick so he can always have an immediate backup installer. Both him and I are on AT&T which likes to cap bandwidth so remote installs are an insane proposition. He makes his own bootable USB stick of 10.7.3., and in an effort to save bandwidth I borrow it and make a duplicate.
Now I did boot from the copy of the USB stick, but never installed, I just wanted to make sure it loaded just in case. Anyway, I quit of out the installer return to my usual start up disk (OCZ Vertex 3 120GB) and continue on. Eventually I download the 10.7.3 update through the System Update. All is well and fine. Couple weeks later, I decide to make another fully bootable USB stick, go to redownload from the App Store (new AT&T billing cycle) and now it is asking me for my father’s Apple ID and Password. It refuses to take my Apple ID and password and tells me there is an error and tells me to try again shortly.
So I turn on the Mac App Store Debug Menu, clear cookies, and reset the app. I try to redownload again, but his Apple ID is still on my machine. He has never used this machine, not once. How do I fix this?
    Any help would be appreciated.
