Aperture 3 Not perfect but fairly good so far

Question

My experience so far... Ordered A3 and downloaded trial whilst I waited. Had similar issues that many have had with disk size messages so looked for tips. Read many horror stories here so became very nervous. Here is what I did. Copied my library (managed-mostly RAW) containing around 26k images on 220gb over to another drive. (4th internal 1TB). My main library is supported by two vaults normally on separate drives. I did not want to rely on a vault. If things went wrong I intended to ditch A3, and go back to A2 with my library. I repaired and rebuilt the database-took a few minutes. I deleted the previews in my library as I read they could be troublesome-not sure. I repaired permissions. On install I unchecked faces and turned off preview in prefs. I checked for updates-did that. (can't remember, I think I repaired permissions again-old habit. I got the disk space warning and then became stuck. A3 would not launch, neither would A2. I hit option and opened Aperture to choose my other back up on a 75% free drive. In effect A3 would now be working for this. Presto. The upgrade began and I prepared to leave my Mac for a day to work. Less than two hours later it was done! Note I have not converted each image to RAW 3 conversion and am not sure if that is what takes the time but frankly I don't see the point. Just hit 'reprocess' when you want to work on an image-it takes but a second.
Everything seems fairly speedy, no faster than A2 I don't think but not slower. I am only one day in so time will tell. I am still prepared to revert to A2 if it drives me crazy. I remember last year a buggy RAW update for A2 plagued us for weeks. Aperture was unusable for me until I reverted to the previous RAW update.
I have noticed the odd glitch when I quick preview an image. Blacked out in parts-this remedies when I click another image and try again. Also the quick preview 'light' remains lit. I need to look at the adjustments panel to see if the quick preview is actually on or off. Strangely my images render on screen in a second without quick preview but I suspect a bug. Running in 32 bit as plug ins are only 32 bit. Will test if A3 behaves better in 64 bit. Frankly, at the moment I just want it to be stable and work. I updated for the brushes- not faces, not places, not speed. My main concern is stability and safeguard of my library. I have yet to use one of my vaults for Aperture #. Both are still waiting for my return to A2. I am taking my time.
My system has shown a couple of anomalies here and there but nothing serious and nothing I can say is due to Aperture. Aperture has crashed once and locked once, both requiring a restart. Repaired permissions and dust has settled. Overall pretty good so far. Not super smooth but not a disaster, far from it. My apologies for rambling but just felt the need to share my experience in the hope that something might help somebody.
