Aperture 3 not sharing updated Previews with iLife/iWork

I have been experiencing an issue with Aperture 3 since updating to 3.4 (and still with the 3.4.2 update I installed on 11/4/2012).
Basically, iTunes, Settings (Desktop/Screensaver) and any iWork app (including Keynote from App store) when loading in the Aperture library doesn't load images I've been adding to Aperture over the last 3 months. It gets my photo stream, but nothing else that I've added since August (I've added hundreds of images, non-photo stream images, since then).
I've tried doing Aperture Library repair/rebuild.
I've tried deleting iPod Photo Cache.
I even tried re-installing iTunes 10.7
What else can I do? I installed Aperture before App Store was out, so it's not as if I can re-download Aperture from App Store and do a re-install.
Short of just removing Aperture, re-installing 3 from the original version I bought then doing all the upgrades, I don't know what else I can do. This is extremely frustrating as I can't get any new images on to my iPhone 5 or iPad 3 and my Desktop/Screensavers can't use my latest images, even from Smart Albums (like 5 star album, which I usually use for Wallpaper Rotation and Screen Saver on my Apple TV).
Would love some help. I was hoping Aperture 3.4.2 would fix this, but no. I thought iTunes 11 might hold hope, but since all other iLife/iWork apps are experiencing the same issue it seems that won't help either.
Configuration details:
MacBook Pro 17-inch (early 2010)
Mac OS X 10.8.2
Aperture 3.4.2 (library size approaching 200GB)

You really seem to have exhausted most of the trouble shooting measures already.
I've also enabled/disabled Preview Sharing...basically any troubleshooting I've found online I've tried. Nothing is working!
Just for completeness sake: Have you also tried to rebuild the previews for your most recent images? delete them and recreate them?
Have you tried to delete the Aperture preferences, as described in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics?
Can you sync your new images, when you create a new Aperture library and try to sync that?
Can you sync your new images, when you sync from a different user account? (This will erase most of the contents on your IOS device - do you have an older one, that you can sacrifice for the test?).

Newly added contacts suddenly become strangers (not shared their details with you)

A newly added contact suddenly disappears after a few minutes, it's still present in my contact list, but with the gray question mark and "this person has not shared their details with you", even though in the conversation itself it says "<friend> has shared contact details with <myself>". On the other side, it seems like none of this is happening and my friend can still see my status as if I was their contact (which I am). Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a similar problem to Andre (from original post a week ago below). I only use Skype to communicate with a personal friend who has recently been posted abroad (Europe) to work. I always sign in via my Microsoft account and have done since Microsoft & Skype merged and I linked the two together. My contact does the same. As my accounts are linked, my friend shows up in my contacts both as a Skype contact and also a Messenger contact. When we communicate, it is normally always via our Skype names although I can see them online under both names. On Friday night however, they came online but shortly afterwards, I noticed that the grey question mark had appeared next to their Skype name saying 'Person has not shared their contact details with you'. They are still showing up ok under their Messenger name as it appears as offline, so I have been a bit confused why this has happened and I haven't yet had a chance to speak to my friend to ask them. I decided to look at the Skype help forum and came across this post by Andre who has had a similar problem, although he says it has happened with a couple of new contacts but his problem has now been resolved. I was hoping someone could help me and give me some advice as to what I should do now. I have checked my computer and have the latest Skype version for desktop installed. I am using Internet Explorer 11; Windows 7 Home version - 64 bit. I also have the Skype app on my android smartphone which has the most recent updated version. I don't really use Skype on my phone although I did log-in on late Friday afternoon but didn't stay on long before I signed out. I have read in posts in the past about corrupted files etc on Skype but because I don't know much about these things, I don't like to mess about with the programs that are installed on my computer because I don't know what I'm doing. The iPad receives Text Messages through Apple's iMessage feature. Make sure this is turned on on your phone. Also, text messages received at your phone number are not shared with the iPad. Make sure that iMessage texts are being sent to your EMAIL ADDRESS

Aperture not syncing all projects with ipod

I've got an Ipod touch 3rd gen and am syncing it with Aperture. I choose the option to have projects from the last 12 months, but it's not syncing them all. Seems to be a somewhat random selection, but particularly missing more recent projects. Any idea why this is happening?

When you connect your iPod and select in the "Photos" tab what to sync, what do you see?
Do the projects that do not sync appear in the "Projects and Albums" section and just do not sync, even if you enabled them?
Or are they not visible at all, even if you set the selector to "selected projects and albums"?
If they are visible, but do not sync properly,you better ask in the iPod Touch forum, maybe your iPod needs troube shooting, but if not all Aperture projects are showing in the "projects and Albums" section, then check your Aperture Preferences -> Previews: maybe your recent projects need Previews to be build.
Have you set Aperture to always share previews and to automatically build Previews for new projects?
Rebuild the Previews for the missing projects by selecting all images in them, ctrl click the selection, hold down the option-key, and select: Generate Previews.
Quit Aperture.
If you do not see your new projects in iTunes, even after rebuilding the Previews, you may need to trouble shoot your Aperture Library: Repair the Permission, and if necessary, repair the Library using the "First Aid" as described here:

My 3.4.5 has ~ 35000 jpg masters. I have set aperture not to create previews on import and have ensured "maintain previews" is not ticked. Every time I start aperture it insists on creating previews for ~ 4300 images. Why?

Having had the previews created I selected all photos and "delete previews". It did this quickly and no more previews being created. Once aperture is closed and then re-opened aperture immediately sets about creating the previews for the same photos. I don't understand why this should be happening.
This is occuring on my Mackbook Air (Aug 2012) which has 256 GB storage. I am fast running out of space as I am using "Managed Masters". I intend to make the masters referenced by relocating them to an external HDD but before doing this would like to clear up this problem first. I keep my Vault on the external HDD and have Time Machine and Time Capsule. When I have relocated the masters to the external HDD I intend that TM backs the external HDD to the TC. I tink that I will use the second partition on the external HDD for Carbon Copy Cloner to back up the Mackbook Air.
Any help or advice warmly welcomed.

Following your advice I have selected all the projects individually and checked the status of Mantain Previews. Some were indeed marked up for Mantail Preview so I have unmarked them.
I have also selected Photos and deleted previews and also repeated this for My Projects.
Checking the Get Info for the Preview folder in Aperture Library in Finder this now tells me that I have zero bytes for 564 items.
Close and then reopen Aperture and it regenerates these564 previews in the blink of an eye. I haven't been able to locate these photos yet. I know there are about 120 in facebook and 10 in photostream but dont know where the rest are.
It seems the issue is not with Aperture but with myself and not understanding Aperture sufficiently well

Make sure you're logged in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that you used to download and install Mavericks. If necessary, log out of the App Store and log back in.

Makes sure you disable any antivirus or software firewall on your desktop. They can get in the way of the update, causing this problem.
Have you actually got the update downloaded yet? If not, it might be helpful to download and install separately

Aperture not working properly in iLife, iWork, and Mail

I am placing this issue in Aperture as it occurred after the 3.1.3 update.
We use Photo Browser to place a photo in a Mac Mail, iLife and iWork. With the update, 3.1.3, using Photo Browser we see only the first photo per project. In Aperture we do see all photos.
Click Projects: we see all of them, but again clicking any project we see one photo.
Click Photos: we see one photo for each project. Clicking any one brings up that one photo.
In Aperture we do have a check in the box: Share previews with iLife and iWork. This same thing happens in both iWork and iLife. Prior to 3.1.3 update the Photo Browser performed as it should.
Yes, I did do the Cmd + Option choosing all three to repair Aperture. Deleted the Aperture .plist as well.

Fixed my own issue. After thinking more on this the word preview is what I was using. Well, in the menu Photos, at the bottom are two options, Update Preview, Delete Preview. Here is the process:
Highlight all projects or photos, I chose Projects, click Photos > Delete Preview, then Photos > Update Preview. To watch the update process click Windows > Show Activity, you will see the number of photos and how many have been updated.

Problem with Aperture not syncing iPhoto albums to iPad

Want to sync a few choice old photo albums created in iPhoto to my iPad. Since I am now running that old iPhoto library in Aperture I should be able to sync selected albums via iTunes, Aperture and USB.
I looked at iTune's photo sync screen and saw that iTunes still distinquishes between iPhoto and Aperture libraries, i.e. one needs to make a choice.
I selected Aperature in the "Sync Photos from" popup and got the following err message:
"Your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications."
My iPhoto/Aperture libary easily opened again in Aperture but for the life of me I can not see a preference provision for previewing Aperture albums in anything other than iLife and iWork which was already enabled.
Perhaps Apple is a bit slow in upgrading the detail in their latest Aperture version or are simply screwing people who favor syncing well chosen albums on their iPad in lieu of using iCloud which would require a lot of extra redundant effort to recreate favorite albums so much more easily created in iPhoto/Aperature.

I was experiencing this exact same problem for days and none of the fixes I have found have worked for me, including the one listed here. Only un-installing Aperture allowed me to again sync my iPhoto albums individually again to my iPad2/iPhone4S. Even after re-generating the library for previews/thumbnails, as other posts have suggested to do in Aperture, I still could not see the option to select individual iPhoto Albums as it was greyed out in iTunes.
So here is the simple and odd fix that has just worked for me. When iTunes tells you: "Your Aperture Library could not be found. Open the preferences window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications." Do just the opposite. In Aperture Preferences under Preview, with the dropdown after Share Previews with iLife and iWork: select NEVER.
Now if when you open iTunes again, and your option to select individual folders is still greyed out (as happened to me on occastion clearly) do this. Uncheck Sync Photos from iPhoto, select Keep Photos or not depending on what you want and then quit iTunes and DON'T APPLY changes. When you restart iTunes, you should now be able to select individual iPhoto albums.
I realize this doesn't give you options with syncing Aperture Projects, but hey, hopefully Apple will fix this soon.

I have "shared previews" turned on in aperture. But when I load iphoto ('11), I don't see anything. I have the aperture update (3.1). When I click "see aperture library" - I just see a gob of my thousands of photos. I want to open iphoto and be able to browse by project/album/faces/etc. How do I do this?? Thanks!!

No.
Aperture and iPhoto are entirely different applications that work in very different ways.
The only communication between the two is as follows:
Aperture is able to parse the iPhoto Library to allow it to import the contents while stacking the Originals and Modified versions, preserving metadata and so forth.
Aperture can share its Previews with the iLife apps, including iPhoto.
That's it.
So, specifically, what interaction there is between the two is designed to facilitate migration from iPhoto to the more powerful app. After that, iPhoto has exactly the same relationship to the Aperture Library as, say, Pages or iMovie.

Aperture not showing up / displaying in Mail Photo Browser in Leopard 10.5

This is for anyone who upgraded to Leopard 10.5.1 and wanted to use Mail's Photo Browser to insert Aperture pics into mail messages. At first, it only displayed the iPhoto and Photo Booth folders in Mail's Photo Browser on my Powermac but I remember seeing it in the Apple store.
If you already generate previews in Aperture, this is pretty much a non-issue. But for me, it frustrated me for a long time. To make it work, the previews must be set in Aperture. I turned it off because it used up extra HD space.
In Aperture, you need to check the "Share previews with iLife and iWorks" under Preferences. Then decide which size and quality of a preview you want. The larger the size and quality, the better it will turn out when you use it in the photo browser. This dictates the image size and quality of what is imported into your Mail message. (I used the smallest size and a quality of 7, which gave satisfactory results without making the aperture library grow too much). I figured it I wanted to email a large, I could attach it separately via a standard export from Aperture. Don't go too low on the quality as it will not turn out very good.
Remember to go and generate previews for each folder or pictures, as those are the only ones that will show up in the Mail photo browser. The folders will show up but no pictures if you don't generate the previews.
It takes a minute before it refreshes in the Mail Photo Browser. Just play with the different settings and put them into your mail to compare the results.

I had a similar problem and what I found was that I had some corrupt .avi files. Once I removed them all was well. I had to create a new iPhoto library and hunt and peck. I would drag part of the old library into the new library then see if iTunes would see the photos - once it froze then I knew what part of the iPhoto library to look at.

Aperture not returning RAM

Hi, it seems that I am the first one to post this.
I have been using Aperture a lot this week adding keywords to loads of photos taken in the last 4 months (had been slack and it was time to get on with it).
Since I have started I have noticed that my machine was running slower and slower....
I have now realised after monitoring my machine that Aperture seems to be causing this.
When I spend a long time on Aperture, and when I quite it, my RAM goes up to 4.5Gig used when Aperture is sharing the previews, but when Aperture is finished and quit, My Ram usage doesn't go back down...
Anyone else had that problem to confirm this before I send feed back to Apple?

This person has been in my contacts for a very long time. Today it says "This person has not shared their details with you." I can still see our previous messages with this contact. Did this person delete me or block me? I know there was a recent skype update, maybe this person didn't get the update yet? This person is on a Mac and I'm on Windows.

I click "resend contact request" and it goes through. There is no spinning circle or anything. Have I just been deleted or fully blocked?

The seller should have given you the original disk so that you can reinstall as needed. But it likely was a single-user license (which really means single computer) so you can only have a copy on one computer at a time. If the seller didn't give you the disk he is probably still using the software on his new Mac. Your best option to get any of the iWork apps to use in OS X 10.6.6 or later is through the Mac App Store. You can then install them on any Mac you have that has access to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID.
