Aperture 3 report card - any feedback on over all performance so far?

Looking to shift from iPhoto 11 to Aperture 3.
I use iMac (just bought a few months ago).
I have over 40,000 photos in current iPhoto.
Looking to get feedback on what you feel are the greatest benefis and drawbacks from moving.

FWIW:
Aperture vs. iPhoto (listing pros and cons of Aperture based on my experience only):
Pros:
More advanced organization capabilities
Better and more extensive metadata functions (both reading and adding)
Better image adjustment tools (including brushes for local adjustments)
Greater control over export settings
RAW processing has some settings that can be adjusted in the RAW Fine Tuning brick
Cons:
Steeper learning curve
Can use a lot of disk space if you use the external editor function due to creation of TIFF or PSD files for sending to editor (especially true if your Master files are originally JPEG files)
Slow performance may be exhibited with images that need a lot of brushed adjustments applied
Other thoughts:
When Aperture is performing well, it really can't be beat for convenience and control in workflow. If it becomes sluggish, it can be frustrating for some users. As TD commented, the free trial is a great way to see if it both meets your needs and performs well on your hardware.
Since one of my lenses is a kit lense with significant distortion and chromatic abberation on a Nikon D80, I also use a program called DxO Optics Pro when I shoot with that lense. That program is basically designed to be a 'batch' program where you run the images through it and it processes the images for defects automatically (based on lab specs they include in a 'module' which you download for your specific camera body / lense combination) and outputs either JPEG or TIFF (depending on user settings). I really like the results from this process when used for that lense. A huge time saver for lense defect issues in post processing.
If you are looking for speed, that may be of interest if you like the results of the batch processing (which can be modified in pretty much any way). That one also has a free trial and they offer good discounts now and then on the program (which might fit with iPhoto for you if you find Aperture not a good fit).

How can someone assess the 'condition' of a system -
By 'a system' I mean - test everything in the box, cpu, gpu, ram, etc.

If you have your original system disk set, one disk has Apple Hardware Tester. Info on using AHT on the G4 is here:

It does a pretty thorough test of those items you mention but reports only "pass" if things are OK. If it finds a problem, it reports in a cryptic code that you may need to post her (or Google it) to get a translation into plain language.
AHT does not test the operating system or drive directories, just hardware.
Without the AHT disk, you need a third-party solution that you'll likely have to purchase. TechTools Pro can test all that stuff plus look for OS problems. Make sure you get a version of TTP that supports your OS level.
Some people who lost their disks have been able to get an AHT disk by calling AppleCare and giving your serial number. There is usually a charge for this but it,s probably much cheapr than buying TTP.

It's more likely a failed Erase Free Space, which creates a huge temporary file; that's why it looks like you have no more available drive space. You can recover from this. See these links

Hi, I have been thinking why everything except for the small product back up is tied up to the over all layouts template. Could any one give me advice on some ways I could display my large product page using a different template?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? If you have not already, be sure to update 12 to 12.1, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update.
But to the immediate questions, assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit....
1. No, it is what it is. But, are you applying the same transition each time? If so, then highlight/select all the clips involved (all at one time), then Timeline Menu/Apply Default Transition will do just that for the highlighted/selected clips.
To highlight/select more than one clip at a time, hold down the Shift key of the computer main keyboard and then click on each clip that you want in the group selection
or
with your mouse cursor draw a rectangle around the clips that you want to select
2. Are you using the Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Expert workspace Pan and Zoom Tool? Or the pan or zoom presets under fx Effects/Presets/? With those you can do pan or zoom, not pan and zoom.
Or, are you in the Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow Editor using the pan and zoom effect there? Or, are you using keyframing the Motion Scale property for zoom and the Motion Position property for pan?
Are you asking about photos with landscape or portrait orientation?
The pan and zoom tool does one photo at a time.
Have you read the Adobe documentation on the Pan and Zoom Tool?

The smart error is usually a fatal hard drive error and it probably needs to be replaced. Here is a quick scan of this forum for smart error 301:

I think the high heat situation and damaged your video chip at the very least and someone will have to open the laptop and reflow, reball or replace the video chip. If this machine is in warrantee, you need to call HP or contact them before it is out of warrantee.

VHA 3.0.1 Only generates Page 1 of a report-card report.

Is this a known issue and is there a workaround/fix?
Using the default VHA 3.0.1 (not 3.0 patched to 3.0.1) I have data in the dataset, the report card shows data, and I have enforced the 'Include in report' option. I have also used the traffic light option against some of the components. When I click on the "Generate Report" option a word document is created and exported, but it's only 1.5MB and only contains the cover page with the VMware template logo. This was in the OVF form of the tool. However, I have since tried the ThinApp version, and that behaves in the same manner. The logs show that the report generated successfully without errors, so a tough one to troubleshoot.
Other tests include using a different dataset, but again, same story. Do I have to select "Include in report" for all components before I generate the report? If I do that's going to hurt time-wise, unless there is a global setting somewhere.
Note I'm on site today and tomorrow (Wednesday 6th Oct), so any help appreciated.

Regarding the "Include in Report" question, each best practice has a flag which determines whether the recommendation/observation for the best practice is included in the generated word document. This flag can be "include", "do not include" or "include based on grade". In standard mode, all best practices are set to "include based on grade" which means that the best practice will be included in the report if you assign a "Priority" grade (red, orange, or yellow). Thus, for a typical report, you won't need to change the "Include in Report" flag for very many best practices (if any).
In base mode, however, the default value for "Include in Report" is "do not include". This is because base mode is designed for a quick report with only 10 (at most 20) best practices included in the report. For this, you'll need to manually set the flag to "include" to have them included.
Either way, setting this flag shouldn't take much time. Please let me know if I misunderstood your question.

Presently getting:

when add all those things the over result shows the *
when i go with CKF NODIM option i could not found againest which order kgs are there and for which order pcs are there.
So there is any option getting the overall result   total of different unit of measures .
I want as below

20KG
10ton
Over all Result :

30kg
10ton
like that I need any possibility , Unit converion doing at transforamation level based on the conversion factors
but the base unit of measure and Alternate unit of measures are different orders are having different units , so it should be added.
Please can anybody provide the some information.

If you can see in you query, you asking to view dba_segments for one instance and the other query is over the MGMT$DB_TABLESPACES view but NOT "WHERE" clouse is using, and if ypu have more once instance then than view sum all the tablespaces sizes.
How many instanced are registed in your grid control?

Hi Assuming you are using the essbase report writer the following script will work: { SUPPAGEHEADING } { SUPCOLHEADING } { SUPFORMATS } { SUPFEED } { NOINDENTGEN } { FIXCOLUMNS 1 } <ROW("Dimension") <UDA(Dimension,MyUDA) ! the fixcolumns 1 will ensure that you only get the UDA without it you will get the variable followed by the corrosponding value.

Report Column Attributes Does Not Display All the Column Names

I have an interactive query Select * from table_name. I have to select * since my query returns well over 32k. I have 162 columns in the query. On the screen, all the columns are displayed; however, on the report tab, only about half of the columns are displayed. The rest are cut off. I need to be able to go into these field's attributes. Is this an APEX bug, or am I just missing something.

I can't break them out because APEX is limited to one interactive report per page. There is need to be able to do computations on the data, which interactive reports allows. The data is all statistical.

Is it possible to make an effect over all the finished film cuts etc

I have almost finished a project, i like the way it is but would like to soften the overall feel of the film.
Is there a way to place an effect over all the edits etc?
Or do i have to export the finished movie and put that to a new project sequence?
If so what is the best setting to export so that when i load back again i don't loose any quality?

Try this step by step. It will help you understand better exactly what happens when you nest a sequence inside another sequence.
•Create a new sequence (File > New > Sequence). You will get a new timeline. (Make sure you create it with the same sequence settings as your original sequence ... see FCE > Easy Setup).
•Then drag your original sequence from the Browser onto the new sequence timeline. This nests your original sequence inside the new sequence.
•Then, +in the new sequence,+ apply whatever filters/effects you want to the original sequence.
In effect, when you nest sequences you can treat the nested sequence(s) as if they were plain old clips. It's a cool trick.

[Solved] Foreach loop that loops over all files in a folder does not consider first file found

I have a foreach loop in SSIS (as part of Visual Studio 10 and with SQL Server 2012).
It loops over all files in a folder (ForEach File Enumerator).
I set the folder: OK
Traverse Sub folders: OK
I have set up a Variable in Variable Mappings called FileName so it shows User::FileName: OK
Index of variable is 0: OK
It almost works ok. Except that the first file it finds is never considered.
I set a breakpoint then and the first file it finds, is shown in black in the watch variable window. All subsequent files found are shown in red font. When I change the names of the files so another file is the first file found then it skips the other one
which now is the first file.
What is going on here? Why does SSIS skip the first file it finds in a foreach file loop?
Any suggestions highly appreciated.

It appears a variable value turns red when it changes between breakpoints. It started black for the first value (the first file, obtained BEFORE the execution reached the breakpoint), and then turned red. I was able to reproduce this behavior on a test environment.
However, it did not skip any files.
OP, please set up the test shown in the image below. Create a breakpoint in the sequence container for the "OnPreExecute" event.
