Aperture 3 Software Info

For somehow, software info is not showing if I am using Aperture to import photos from camera. I have been using Nikon Transfer for all my imports from camera. EXIF info only shows if its transferring from Nikon Transfer but if I am transferring through Aperture, it shows nothing.
Same case with LR. It only shows software info for Nikon Software but if use Aperture, it shows nothing.
Any idea what's going on here? It is important for me to see which software I am using to transfer my photos. Why software info is not embedding if I am using Aperture 3.
BTW, I have yet to see any problem with A3.

  • Photoshop not working since updated Aperture software

I have been using photoshop CS5 within Aperture for over a year now.
Unfortunately Photoshop has stopped working properly since I updated the Aperture software to the latest version.
I am trying to do some selective colouring but the brush tool is not working.
    Thank you!

If it is the Photoshop program not working, then resetting the preferences would be the first thing to try if you have already checked any tool options and layer settings that may be creating a problem.
Pressing the 'Option + Command + Shift' keys immediately after launching Photoshop will invoke the reset dialog before Photoshop loads it's UI. Use the options to reset as needed. Here is a link to the help file for more info:

Are you referring to Photoshop here or Aperture (both have brush capabilities)?

  • TS2518 How do I find the serial number for my aperture software?

Bought my aperture software a couple of years ago. Have lost the original box although the library currently works on my macbookpro. Am trying to transfer my library to my new macbook air and am being asked for the original serial number? where can I find it; if I don't have the original box?

the library currently works on my macbookpro
Copy the licence number from Aperture's "About" panel on your MacBook Pro.
The licence number should be shown in the panel, when you launch Aperture on your MacBook Pro and go the the main menu bar:  Aperture > About Aperture.

Depending on what your needs are, you may use Pages included in iWork or purchase it separately (usually there is an evaluation copy with any new mac, I guess) or try other publishing apps. I once used MS Publisher, I remember it was something like a more sophisticated word processor, right?
You may try the cheaper DTP iCalamus or Word for mac.

  • Can I use Time Machine to recover my Aperture License Info

Out of the blue my G5 started asking for my Aperture License again. I just finished a move and don't know where I have that info/box. Can someone tell me if I can run Time Machine to recover it? AND IF SO... EXACTLY HOW? Much appreciated.

Unfortunately, it has been my experience that Time Machine does NOT backup the license info on Aperture. I say unfortunately because of other issues (now resolved; not dealing with Aperture, however).
I had to use my original installation Leopard Disk, then go through the Apple Icon Software Update (as Time Machine also does not back up Apple Operating System Updates). Then I had to initialize things such as iTunes, test my printer, and other things. To my surprise, the first time I opened Aperture after it was restored by Time Machine I too had to enter the serial number
Other Apple applications, such as iWork and iLife worked fine without the necessity to enter their original serial numbers. But Aperture would not work until I entered the serial number. I don't know why that is, but that has been my experience. And I have done the above procedure three (3) times due to other issues (now resolved).
Summary: When one reinstalls Aperture from Time Machine, it has been my experience that once reinstalled, you must have the serial number handy in order to get Aperture to function. I now placed the serial number of my Aperture on a label, and I affixed that label to the CD Jewel Case of the original Aperture install disk so that I know an easy way to find the number if I should need it again.
Good luck in your search for your serial number

  • What is the difference between regular Aperture software and the app? If I were to buy an app or a software as a hobbyist, what should I buy??? Little confused between the two...Please advise.

    Dear All,
I am a newbie to MAC world. Being an ex-PC guy, I am used to CDs and traditional software. I want to buy Aperture as my main photo editing software. I have been using DXO and Photoshop in the past. I downloaded Apeture trial version and I am comfortable with it. If I were to buy it, should I buy an app or traditional software CD. I edit approx. 4-5 pictures a day, just for personal use though. Please advise.
    Regards,
    Gurpreet.

That's a function of your Credit Card not of the Software
But you're right, I was vague. Whether you buy from the App Store or the Disk makes no difference to the functionality of the software. It's the same.
    Regards

  • Complicated- No original Adobe Photoshop Software Info for transferring to new computer...

Ok, so in 2009 my father bought me a new computer (Acer, PC) and had his personal tech guy add Adobe Photoshop. Unfortunately, he never informed me of the Photoshop software, nor did I receive the CD installation or any other form of documentation and so I only recently discovered the Photoshop software while trying to transfer files to my newer laptop (Dell, PC). Now I'm just trying to figure out what my options are for getting the software information and having it transferred to my new laptop without any of the installation software. The old laptop (Acer, PC) barely works but I can access Photoshop, so if there is info on it I can provide to help with helping me with this issue, please request. I apologize if this question is in one of the other help sections but I didn't see it. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your reply and help...wish I'd read it before using the Chat help. Just finished communications with someone through the Chat Help and had to disconnect to find the S/N. Now that I have it I can't seem to re start the open case Chat thing to finish getting the help I need. Regarding the info you gave me after stating I need the S/N I am completely lost and confused on. I have no idea how to figure out if its running in trial mode or if I'm the one it's licensed to. Though I'm pretty sure it's licensed to me. When I've tried registering PS on the older laptop it tells me its registered but when I look for it online it's not there. I shut down PS and reopen it and it asks me to go through the registration process again. Which I've done several times with no other results. I'm sorry, I'm new to all this and am at a loss as to how I'm supposed to proceed...

  • Two significant aperture software failures (or features depending....)

I have been unable to determine any method allowing Aperture to import GPS data from nikon D1X,D2X directly... the only workaround seems to be to import the raw images into nikon view software, export as jpegs import the jpegs, seems a bit silly but there it is.
the next one is likely to be more important to more folks. When working with large arrays of large TIFF files (here the files are 65-250mb) a normal automated workflow for us is export to jpeg. Yep, you can do so with aperture, but if you do this and export selected versions it will hang with unsupported file format and fail the multiple file export. Interestingly if you then try the files it just exported those too are now unsupported format. The solution is to quit out of Aperture reopen the bloody thing and then reselect the files, walk away for coffee, return and export them, works just fine. Key is waiting (interminabley) for it to "load" all of the select images prior to export to jpeg. Interminable means 8-12 minutes for twenty 100mb images selected, this on a quad, 8gb ram, 500gb SATA drives, sigh.... Point isnt that once again Aperture has demonstrated some frustrating behavior for a pro product, those are my daily experience, but that there is a solution in case you encounter the issue.

Have you tried exporting the RAW files with GPS data from Aperture and then looking to see if the EXIF is in the export? Aperture seems to pass along any EXIF from the master file, even if you cannot see it inside Aperture.

What video card do you have? I think it may effect thumbnail load times to some degree. Also, is your library on an external firewire disc? That could also slow it down.
I work regularily with TIFF files - mostly around 40MB or so, but I have seen no delays (or bugs like you describe) around loading them and I'm just on a DP 1.8Ghz with 1.5GB of RAM. I have a few 150MB panos but have not used them enough to say if they start to have the problems you describe around them, I don't think I have enough to repeat the kind of load you're putting Aperture under.

  • Upgrading to Intel version of Aperture software

Can anyone tell me where you have to go to do this, or if there is a charge to do it? I just purchased a MacBook Pro, and am anxious to see how Aperture works on it.

To be a little more specific, just install Aperture on the Macbook Pro from your Aperture install disc (it will install but not yet run).
Then run Software Update and it will download and install Aperture 1.1.1. After that Aperture will run.

  • Aperture Software Update fails! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Hi once again... It seems Leopard broke many things for us..
    On with the question:
Installed my Aperture via the CD I had bought 9 months ago. Yes, I know, old version. But that's what I was doing under Tiger too.
Anyways, I launched Software Update right after the setup finished (I hadn't launched Aperture at all). I waited till 130MB got downloaded, just to find out that for some reason it could not install the update!
I got a message saying that Software Update cannot apply this update, and that the downloaded update files were moved to Trash and if I wanted to try again, I should find the update files manually using FInder.
I opened the Trash, but it was empty!
What should I do? I don't want to waste another 30 minutes downloading, only to find that the update cannot happen...
    Any clues?

    I had tried that too!
It sais that I already have a valid lisence on my Mac and thus the new trial cannot be installed...
After removing my valid copy of Aperture, I tried the new trial. But my old serial number isn't accepted..
    Thanks Mihali

  • Is the Aperture software compatible with Lion & iDVD

Is Aperture creating either a movie or slideshow compatible with Lion and then iDVD to burn a DVD using iDVD? As it stands now, with Lion, I cannot burn any DVD using iDVD and iMovie, iPhoto or Aperture.. Does this mean iDVD is broken under Lion and those applications ? If so what new $ software should one buy that is compatible with those Apple Applications to burn those applications to a DVD's ? The iDVD lead in's were really nice..

I'm surprised to hear that iDVD cannot burn a DVD on your system. Have you looked into it at all? Have you tried resetting the PRAM and PMU?
    Thank you, Frank,
that surprised me as well! The error message I got was "Your Macintosh does not have a supported SuperDrive".  It happens only on my MBP 17" 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 since OS 10.7.3; I tried some hardware trouble shooting, hardware test, resetting the PRAM and PMU, but then ignored it, because I had no need to use iDVD and still can run iDVD on my SL MBP or the Lion iMac.
Right now I cannot do anything about it, because I have installed a Developer Beta Version of MacOS on that MBP; so I cannot do any further Lion Tests on that machine at the moment, or discuss system related issues concerning that machine in a public forum

  • Unable to see Machine Software Info

I am running ZLM 6.6.1 on SLES9 with the following client packages:

  • Aperture Software License

I just installed Aperture as a purchase from the App Store. I have two computers, an iMac and an Apple laptop.
In the past, I have believed that Apple permitted me to duplicate purchased Apple software, like iLife, from my iMac to my laptop, and use it on my laptop as well as on my iMac.
Is this true of apps purchased from the App store, in particular, Aperture?

Here's the relevant paragraphs from the Terms and Conditions I linked to:
    i) You may download and use an application from the Mac App Store (“Mac App Store Product”) for personal, non-commercial use on any Apple-branded products running Mac OS X that you own or control (“Mac Product”).
ii) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download a Mac App Store Product for use either (a) by a single individual on each of the Mac Product(s) that you own or control, or (b) by multiple individuals on a single shared Mac Product that you own or control. For example, a single employee may use a Mac App Store Product on both the employee’s desktop Mac Product and laptop Mac Product, or multiple students may serially use the Product on a single Mac Product located at a resource center or library.
iii) Use may require sign-in with the Apple ID used to download the Mac App Store Product from the Mac App Store. Mac App Store Products can be updated through the Mac App Store only.
I think paragraph i) says it all, don't you?

  • After upgrading my Aperture software, the adjustment tools don't work on most my projects. only a few. what happened?

Help... After upgrading, only SOME of my libraries allow the adjustments tools to work. What do I do to regain access that allows me to edit my photos?

I recall that from Aperture 2 to 3 the RAW decoder was updated and some of the adjustments required you to manually reprocess the RAW file using the new decoder. I don't remember the exact button but it appears on top with the RAW decode brick and says something like reprocess RAW. Once you do this, the new adjustments will work.
This only would matter if you are using RAW files.

  • Updated To Mountain lion and since then aperture software is all "black and white"

    Hi Folks,
Since I have upgraded to Mountain Lion, my Aperture (3.4 now) is having a black and white looking field (all menus and icons are in black and white). Tried to repair but still does not work , argggg
    Thanks
    Cheers !
    G99

Unfortunately, that is a feature and not a bug.
It's the new design since Lion - Iphoto already has gone gray before Aperture See for example these links:
Re: After updating to Aperture 3.3 all my icons appears in Black and white. This includes the inspect button, photo stream button, the Facebook / flicker share button. Could you please help here ?
How to bring back the color: (for experienced users only)
Re: Have today loaded the 3.3 up date on Aperture. After the up date the colour of the Menu Bar and all icons showing projects / albums etc are now grey. Any thoughts on how to reestablish the colours.
There are many more threads on this. Browse a little.
