Aperture and Canon Pixma MP620

Hi All,
this time have some problems with Aperture that I'm just using since few days. My problem is the following: when i try to print a picture using my MP620 it produces images with strange vertical stripes (especially visible near the black areas) that affects all kind of print format.
This issue doesn't happen in iphoto that prints without problems the same images (so printer problems are discarded).
I use sRGB on my camera and the same is for my monitor: I've also calibrated it again to be more sure (so Color Sync settings problems are discarded too).
I've read somewhere that the output bits available could be at the origin of this problem. My printers specifications about color depht are the following:
grey depht 16 bit (internally)
grey depht 8 bit (externally)
color depht 48 bit (internally)
color depht 24 bit (externally)
I've got an Intel with Snow Leopard and my printer's drivers are all updated to Snow.
Hope that some Guru here could help me!
Ciao,
Mariano
P.s.: Have the same problem with Lightroom2 but the stripes are less visible (printer output was set to 16 bit)

Hi All,
just to update the community: I've made a rollback of the printer's drivers (I was just using the Snow Leopard ones) to the old Leopard version and now Aperture seems printing perfectly! I think this is the first case someone is answered his question by hiself!:-)
Bye bye

  • Print from my ipad to my CANON PIXMA MP620 wireless printer?

Is there any way to print from my ipad to my CANON PIXMA MP620 printer configured as a wireless printer?  I see several apps in the app store (e.g., "CANON Easy Photo Print"), but the MP620 doesn't show up on the list of printers supported by the app.

See if Canon has an app to print to you or use a 3rd party solution like Print Central or Printopia.

  • Airport Extreme and Canon Pixma MP610

I recently got a MacBook Pro. I wanted to print wirelessly so I also purchased a new Airport Extreme and Canon Pixma MP610 printer all from the Apple Store. I told the salesperson what I wanted to do and he did not indicate there would be a problem, he said make sure I had the most current printer drivers, which I have done. I tried everything but I am unable to print wirelessly using the USB connection between the Airport and the printer. Can anyone help me? Is this printer compatible with the Airport? This is very frustrating and expensive. I could have just kept my old base station and printer.

I am having the same problem with my MP610... I have connected the printer to the usb port on the AirPort Express and have tried installing various drivers to try and fix the issue but have had no success so far.
My Airport Express is setup correctly (green light) and is found in AirPort Utility... additionally, when I go to System Preferences -> Print & Fax, the printer is there and found wirelessly... yet whenever I try to print I receive a "error number : 306..." in my print queue... also, depending on which driver I use, I receive a "Unable to send 1 bytes of print data! (USB write error)" error message on top of the "error number : 306"... sometimes I also manage to avoid any error messages where the status shows it is 'Printing' but there is nothing being printed...
Now, obviously this is a wireless issue, as the printer works when connected via usb directly to my MacBook Pro...
I contacted Canon Support, and was told that I would not be able to print via any AirPort connection as the printer itself is a "Host Based Printer" and was not designed to support networking and that my only other alternative/option to wireless printing would be to purchase a "USB printer server" that supports IP Address forwarding... (on a side note: does the AirPort Express not support this?)
The whole reason why I purchased AirPort Express was so I could print wirelessly from a regular printer by connecting it to its usb port... and looking at the Airport support page on Apple's website, it clearly doesn't mention anywhere that the printer needs to be network capable or that there would be any compatibility issues with regular printers... After-all, it revolves around the idea that all you need to do is connect the printer to the AirPort via USB and that it will take care of the rest when setup correctly...
So ultimately my question is, has anyone had any success in setting up a wireless connection with their 'Host Based Printer'/ordinary usb printer...? if so, how?!! please describe in detail :P lol
Also is that doesn't work, is there any way I can use the AirPort Express to wirelessly print using an IP Address without having to buy a 'USB print server'?
Sorry about the very long description... any help would be really appreciated!

  • Printer Canon Pixma MP620, Wifi problem

I have a new Canon Pixma printer mp620 (USB / LAN / wifi)
I can not get the printer with the wifi ?
It works well with USB cable directly on the iMac!
This printer is used in a wireless network with a Windows XP computer with a wireless modem router USRobotics
What is wrong with the iMac ?
Tips: the printer works well in wireless with the PC WinXP
Canon doesn't propose new driver on www.canon.com !
    Thank you in advance ...

If you want to connect to the MP620 via wireless, then the instructions are stating that you need to have your wireless access point (the wireless router) ready and you need to know some information about the router, such as its SSID (its name) and any password you will need to connect to it.
The setup is pretty easy. It's just the manual tries to cover too many options.
First you must have the printer driver installed and be connected to it via USB. This is so you can communicate with the printer to configure the network (LAN) settings.
With the printer appearing in the Printer list, you can open the printer queue and select Utility. From the new window, select the Printer shown as a USB device and click the Network tab. This will guide you through connecting it to your wireless network. This is where you need to know your access point information. Once the printer is connected to your wireless network, you will be prompted to turn off the machine and then unplug the USB cable. When you turn the printer back on, you can then add the printer queue again, this time for the network connection. As others have said above, select to Add then select More Printers > Canon IJ Network. The MP620 should appear in the list, which you select and then click Add. Now you are ready to print...

  • Aperture and Canon 5D with wireless adapter

I have a 15" macbook pro, and I want to get a 20" iMac to do this, if I can, but when I shoot in the studio, I use my wireless adapter on my Canon 5D to transmit my photos to a Mac. Is there a way that I can use aperture to monitor a directory, and display the new photos durring a shoot, so I can review them right away. I can use the canon software when im teathered, but defeats the wireless adapter, and I really love aperture.
    Thanks!

    Go here:
    http://www.automator.us/aperture/
and get the Aperture Hot Folder script.
    That should do it.

  • "Canon SLR EOS 40D"  *Aperture and Canon's CR2 RAW files not supported.*

    Hi,
I just started playing with Aperture, and with my brand new *Canon SLR EOS 40D* camera. One problem, Aperture is not recognizing the RAW file format. I am using RAW Fine**-L. Even with that it doesn't even see the JPG shots in Aperture. Went to the Canon site and it shows CR2 format. IPhoto 08 sees the JPG files just fine, It also sees the RAW files just doesn't know what to do with them. I know that RAW files are not supported on IPhoto 08. The camera is only been out a few months, but still lost on why Aperture doesn't support the format. Maybe I am missing something. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance....

For some reason or another Adobe Photo Shop 7 is no longer supported in Leopard. When you lunch Photo shop 7 in Leopard. You get "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a Program error. Photo Shop will now exit." even if you reinstall the program, still you get the same error. Photo Shop 7 is Not the latest and greatest, but in most cases, that is all you need. Not sure if they plan on a fix, so for now I put that program on a shelve.
    Hope that helps

  • Snow leopard and Canon pixma pro drivers, which one is it recognizing?

I have a new MacBook Pro. I print with Canon Pixma Pro 9000 and 9500.
My question is regarding the print drivers.
I plug both Pixma pros in and the computer recognizes them.
However, I also downloaded the latest print drivers for the two print drivers off the Canon website.
Which printer driver is the computer using? The one that somehow comes with the computer or the one I downloaded from Canon.
Or does it matter? My concern is that I want the paper profiles to be correct.

Can anyone positivly confirm that they have got this printer to work with 10.5.6? I have downlaosed latest drivers from Canon and Apple (on the apple list is says Canon Pro9000 Series II but omits the word PIXMA - and when I get this into the PRINT USING box on add printer and hit 'Add' nothing happens.
We have the Pro 9500 II that we use for proofing and I've got it on a 10.6.5 Mac and it's using the v10.36.2.0 driver that it downloaded from Apple when I connected it.
If your Mac does not see or let you add the printer after manually browsing to it then something is amiss with your Mac. I suggest you try a reset of the printing system using the following procedure.
    1. Unplug the Pro9000 USB cable from the Mac
    2. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    3. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    4. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    5. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    6. Restart your Mac
    7. Reconnect the Pro9000 USB cable to the Mac
The Mac should automatically add the printer to the Print & Fax pane, assuming the printer is being seen by the Mac - and you are definitely connecting the USB cable of the Pro9000 directly to the Mac.
If the Mac does not add the printer automatically then open System Profiler (Applications > Utilities) and select the USB entry under Hardware in the left pane. The right pane will then show all the USB busses on the Mac. The printer should be shown connected to one of these busses. If it is not shown then try another USB cable and another USB socket on the Mac.

  • Airport Express and Canon Pixma IP4500 wireless printing

    Hello,
I bought an Airport Express and set it up as an additional wireless network at an 5Ghz N mode. It's conneted to a Linksys Wireless router modem/router. Internet connectivity is fine from both iMac 24 and MacBook. Both use OSX 10.5.4.x
Airport is set up via USB with a Canon Pixma IP4500 inkjet. When connected directly to the iMac, it prints fine. When I connect the IP4500 to the Airport Express, I get an Error 300 - basically saying the printer is not responding.
The whole point of the Airport Express was a faster network for both wireless printing and playing iTunes wirelessly from the MacBook.
Any tips on what could be a common problem for this printer?
    Thanks

    I had a similar problem
I had to "add a new printer", so one printer refers to the directly connected printer and the other refers to the printer connected to the airport (bonjour).
    Greetings.

  • Problems with JPEG colors with MP Navigator EX 2.0 and Canon Pixma MP980

    Hi,
I'm scanning my huge old slide connection with a Canon Pixma MP980. I use MP Navigator EX 2.0 with wireless connection to the MP and use the "Open Scanner Driver" option to be able to fine-tune picture quality. I've experimented with different settings, and have scanned a lot of slides with the color profile option where colors are automatically matched to my (tuned) screen profile. But sometimes I end up with far too saturated JPEGs, and I can't understand what I'm doing wrong. The strange thing is that the images look good in the preview, and they also look good if I save them as TIFFs. I really want to avoid the TIFFs, though, they don't give me any more dynamic range than the JPEGs and are 10x the size.
Does anyone have an idea what setting I might have gotten wrong in the setup? Or if this could be a incompatibility with recent Quicktime updates, since it used to work fine for a while?

Not much response here, but I finally found the solution myself: By setting the Color Preferences to "Color Matching, the source to my scanner, and - this is the important part - the target to the standard sRGB color profile, I get pretty good results.

  • AirPrint problems and Canon PIXMA MP495

Checking out the options on the iPhone.
    I have a Canon PIXMA MP495 printer/scanner/copier Etc.
Works fine on the Wi-Fi (Both Mac's & PC)
And with Canon iEPP i can print photos scans on the iPhone over the Wi-Fi.
Now the problem selct the print option in a mail/word/pdf page and reply
    "No AirPrint Printers Found"
    Anyone else see this problem?
    Anyone got a fix?
Currently i have a "help" call to Apple for next Wednesday 0800 GMT.
So if no one comes back with a solution i'll report back then.
    Regards,
    S&F
    alan.

For anyone still searching for an answer to this question (specifically about the MP495 Model), I found the following response from a Canon employee to a similar question posed on the Canon US website:
While Canon would like to extend AirPrint support for other models, unfortunately AirPrint support will be limited to the currently announced models (PIXMA MG5320, PIXMA MG6220 and PIXMA MG8220), and most of the inkjet printers going forward. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and would hope you support our decision.
However, you are able to print with your iPhone to the unit via the free Canon Easy-Photo Print app available through the Apple Store. The app will allow you to print pictures, but not documents.

  • Airport extreme and Canon Pixma IP5000 printing wireless

Has anybody been succesfull in using a Canon Pixma IP5000 to print wirelessly with Aiport extreme (n)? From what I read, my printer is too old? can some one confirm?
    Thanks

I have the set up you mention and I can print wirelessly.
Before you try anything else, reset the printer in preferences. (Right click the printer and select reset printing system.)
Make sure you have the latest driver installed from Canon 4.8.3 (comes with Leopard normally) before hand.
Then turn off your airport. Turn on the printer. Then turn on the airport Extreme n.
Once up and running click add printer.
Your printer should appear in the window as a Bonjour type.
It will search for the latest driver (which you'll have downloaded if necessary).
    Then it should be installed.

  • Aperture and Canon 7D

I am thinking about upgrading to a canon 7d. I read how there was a problem with Aperture reading RAW files, especially with red. I currently use Aperture 2 and dont want to buy the 7D if I am going to problem with Aperture.
Has the problem been fixed? Any suggestions?

This is probably going to sound really weird, and shows Aperture still has some issues it needs to figure out, but....
On one of your high ISO indoor 'red' shots, add a vignette, but set both sliders to 0, effectively removing the vignette that is being added.
Yes. I'm serious. This completely changes the red casts, and kills the nasty posterization I see on my system.

  • Aperture and Canon 40D RAW

When will Aperture support RAW from my Canon 40D?
In the meantime how should I handle my RAW images? Can I import them into Aperture now with metadata attached and when the support is there all my photos and metadata will appear?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

The first question has been asked many times in the last 4 weeks and there's no answer. Ask more and Apple will lock this thread.
Second question. If you shoot RAW only, Aperture will import the file, and you won't be able to see it or work with it. You can export it to use Canon's DPP, Photoshop or other available converter to process it, save it to TIFF or JPEG, and then reimport to Aperture for now.
If you shoot RAW and JPEG, Aperture will import both files, but it's not apparent where the JPG file is. Control-click or right-click the grey square thumbnail or the reddish main window, and click "New Version from Master JPEG" to reveal the full-resolution JPEG image the camera took.
When OSX starts supporting 40D in the future, those RAW files will automatically be shown inside Aperture.

  • Aperture and Canon 5dMark11 Raw

I used my new 5d recently and used the combo sRAW1 and JPEG to be imported to Aperture (latest version). It seems Aperture only works with full RAW and not the other RAWs on the Canon. I called Canon but they only suggested importing using their supplied software DPP. It works but I'd like to know about Aperture.
Any thoughts on this being so or am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    John

Most if not all third-party raw convertor programs will only work with the full raw file from a dslr. They won't work on the sub-variations like sRAW. For that, as Canon said, you have to go to their software. IOW, if you stray from the full raw format you have to go to you the camera manufacturer's software.

  • Aperture and Canon 20D

I am using Aperture with my Canon 20D and I notice that really bright areas in the RAW file have halos in Aperture. And, the quality of the conversions do not seem that great. I am especially put off by the poor sharpening abilty in Aperture. Can anyone help me? I make money with my pictures, but no one is going to want to buy these poor things.

    HI,
I'm not sure what to suggest for you on this. I'm a professional photographer, using a Canon 1Ds MkII and a Canon 20D. I have no problems with either camera and Aperture RAW conversion.
Here are a few things you could try, however:
    1. Check your histogram to be sure that your image is not "blown-out." If so, dial the exposure down;
    2. Check your sharpening and chroma blur settings to ensure that they are not to strong. You should examine your photos at 100% magnification to check this;
    3. Check to see whether you have onscreen proofing turned on; and, if so, check to see what profile you are using. You may need to turn it off or to use a better/different profile;
    4. Lastly, be sure to have all the latest updates installed on your machine, i.e. Tiger 10.4.7; Aperture 1.1.2, etc.
Not that this is much comfort, but, I can assure you that Aperture works perfectly well with a Canon 20D and its RAW files. This seems to be an isolated event, which is most likely fixable.
