Aperture and Toast titanium exported files size reduced

I have tried to look up the answer to this but can't seem to find one. I am relativly new to aperture.
I am dragging 150 photos from the aperture window into toast titanium 8 to put them on CD for a friend to print off. When I do this the file sizes are reduced from between 2.5 - 3.5 MB down to 400-500k. The quality still seems quite good for a slide show but not brilliant for large prints. Is ther another way to get them burnt to disc or am I being really stupid?
I am using aperture 1.5.3
Gary

Thanks Ian, that cretainly gives me a way to do it but it now adds another half hour to the process while I wait for the 150 photos to be exported to a file so I can then drag them to be burnt! I dare say if I was clever I could get automator to do it for me in the background, thats for another day!!
It also throws up an other interesting point, when exported at the original size they seem to double in MB from roughly 3.5 to 7 (without metadata). However if I export them at 95% of the original they actually export at about two thirds original which is just about right for the prints required.
I have no idea why but now I know it happens I can dial in my settings accordingly....

  • Burning to dvd and the loss of file size

    I am new to aperture and in trying to burn my photos to dvd (with toast 6 or idvd), I have a couple of questions. First, can I just drag and drop the images or do I need to export them? Secondly, when I have dragged and dropped photos into the Toast screen the file size is considerably smaller (about one fifth the size). Am I just dragging the preview? It seems when I export a photo to my desktop it is also then a smaller file size. (one third or so) How to I burn to dvd select full size versions of my photos?
    Thank you for any help.

    hello, lupita
    Welcome to the Aperture forum!
    I am new to aperture and in trying to burn my photos
    to dvd (with toast 6 or idvd), I have a couple of
    questions. First, can I just drag and drop the
    images or do I need to export them?
    if you have made Aperture Previews (if not Update the Version Previews first that you want to drag & drop) you can drag & drop them into the drop zone of iDVD from the Browser (it takes a while for iDVD Media option to see the Previews while they Update)
    or you can access your photos through the Media/Photos/Aperture Library option in iDVD
    or you can export Versions to a folder on a hard drive and iDVD/File/Import/Image
    Secondly, when I
    have dragged and dropped photos into the Toast screen
    the file size is considerably smaller (about one
    fifth the size). Am I just dragging the preview?
    yes.
    It
    seems when I export a photo to my desktop it is also
    then a smaller file size.
    Exporting a photograph (Version) from Aperture can have several size and quality options, since you want your photos to be the same size then make sure the Versions are not being resized which it sounds like they have been. Select & edit the Presets/Image Presets... for Export
    or, Export the Version and at the window prompt select the Export Preset: Edit to modify the presets to your liking.
    How to
    I burn to dvd select full size versions of my
    photos?
    Export Version/Edit/Export Preset/ now select file type TIFF or JPEG or PSD you want "Original Size" etc.
    At the Export window select the DVD/CD so the files go into it

  • SSRS report Excel Export file size is huge

    Hello everyone,
    I am facing an issue with SSRS report exporting  to Excel.
    Issue : Exported file size is too big.
    I have a matrix report ( parametrized report ) it fetches data from multiple table.
    initially when
    1) I select all parameters all values
    2) load the report after that
    3) exporting to excel
    so exported file size was about 10 Mb to 12MB
    Now, suddenly from this month exported file size is too big around 62 MB for same data,
    I checked on different forums and tried the solutions but it didn't worked,
    can anyone please suggest me on this.
    My environment is
    Visual studio (BIDS) 2008
    SQL Server 2008 R2
    Excel 2007
    Thanks

    Hi UdayKGR,
    According to your description, when you export a report into an excel file, the exported file size is too huge. Now you want to reduce the file size. Right?
    In this scenario, do you export the report into excel 2003 file? When reports are first exported and saved to Excel 2003, they do not benefit from the file optimization that Excel automatically applies to its *.xls workbook files. The larger file size can
    cause problems for e-mail subscriptions and attachments. To reduce the size of the *.xls files for exported reports, open the *.xls files and then resave the workbooks. Resaving the workbooks typically reduces their file sizes by 40 to 50 percent. Also please
    try to install the Reporting Services 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 and reduce the merged columns in exported excel file. For more information, please see the links below:

  • LARGER Exported File sizes

    I recently upgraded to LR V2 (also use PS CS3)
    For some reason my exported file sizes have increased immensely
    Typically I would convert from RAW to TIFF with the following settings:
    11" x 17" print size
    compression: none
    Adobe RGB1998
    16 bit
    resolution 300 DPI
    These files would convert at about 90MB (manageable on my system)
    They are now converting at a whopping 400MB (aging system can't handle this!)
    Is this the new LR V2 standard, is there some setting I need to change?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Rich

    No, you must be doing something wrong there. 300 ppi (NOT DPI!) at 11x17 and 16 bits uncompressed should be 90MB as you can calculate with simple math. If you enable compression (highly recommended for tiffs - it's lossless compression) you should be able to cut that in half.

  • Why the files my program create are created twice each file double ? And why sometimes the files size are too small ?

    My program is using Queue of type Uri to create Queue of urls and then i'm using webbrowser to navigate each Uri from the Queue in it's turn and get the url(html) source content and save it to the hard disk.
    The problem is sometimes the text files on the hard disk are small like 90KB or 60KB and sometimes they are as they are suppose to be 300KB or 200KB.
    This is a button click event where i'm calling two methods:
    private void toolStripButton3_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    GetHtmls();
    CheckQueue();
    This is the GetHtmls method code:
    private Queue<Uri> myUrls = new Queue<Uri>();
    private bool isBusy = false;
    private void GetHtmls()
    for (int i = 1; i < 49; i++)
    adrBarTextBox.Text = sourceUrl + i;
    targetHtmls = (combinedHtmlsDir + "\\Html" + i + ".txt");
    Uri targetUri = new Uri(sourceUrl + i);
    myUrls.Enqueue(targetUri);
    sourceUrl contain website address: http://www.tapuz.co.il/forums2008/forumpage.aspx?forumid=393&pagenumber=
    And i'm adding to it the numbers and create the pages.
    And add them to the Queue.
    THen the CheckQueue method:
    Uri uri;
    private void CheckQueue()
    if (isBusy)
    return; // We're downloading some page right now, don't disturb
    isBusy = true; // OK, let's get started
    if (myUrls.Count == 0) // No more pages to download, we're done
    isBusy = false;
    return;
    uri = myUrls.Dequeue(); // Get one URL from queue
    getCurrentBrowser().Navigate(uri);
    It suppose to Navigate to each Uri(html address) in the Queue.
    And the browser document completed event:
    private void Form1_DocumentCompleted(object sender, WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs e)
    // If page loaded completly then do something
    int urlnumber = uri.ToString().IndexOf("pagenumber=");
    string number = uri.ToString().Substring(urlnumber + 11);
    int num = Int32.Parse(number);
    targetHtmls = (combinedHtmlsDir + "\\Html" + num + ".txt");
    StreamWriter writer = File.CreateText(targetHtmls);
    writer.Write(getCurrentBrowser().DocumentText);
    writer.Close();
    isBusy = false; // We're done
    CheckQueue(); // Check next page in queue
    In the completed event i'm getting the page number and build the string for the text file then write the html source content to the text file.
    In the end i have on my hard disk 48 text files.
    The problems are:
    1. Sometimes it seems like it's not finishing navigating to the current uri or maybe some other reason maybe server side problem and creating small size files with source content inside but not all the source content. Sometimes the text files size are each
    file 99KB or 70KB and sometimes the size of them are about 300KB and 200KB and this is the right sizes 300KB 200KB.
    2. The text files on my hard disk suppose to be 48 different files each file should contain the source if the html page of the 48 pages. But on my hard disk the 48 text files are duplicated for some reason.
    This is the file on my hard disk:
    Some of the files are 205KB 350KB 175KB and some of the files sizes are 85KB 94KB 35KB
    Why some of the files it didn't navigated to the end or maybe didn't got all the source ?
    And why it's making each second file the same like the one before ? It suppose to create 48 different files but i'm getting two identical files each navigation.

    I solved it now.
    This is what i did:
    It's a bit slow process since i'm waiting for each page to be loaded into the webbrowser but it does the work.

    I have just bought a Panasonic Lumix compact camera. Aperture and Preview can't open the RAW files from this camera. Panasonic recommend downloading 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to save RAW file formats.How can Aperture and Preview read the files?

    Either use 'SYLKPIX Developer Studio SE' to develope the RAW files and to save them in another lossless format like TIFF, or try if Adobe's free DNG Coverter can convert your Lumix RAW files to dng. Then import the dngs. This way, your files will still be RAW files.  This works (most times) for my Lumix FZ28.

  • What is the cisco ironport C680 and M680 configuration backup file size?

    what is the cisco ironport C680 and M680 configuration backup file size?

    Size of the XML itself?  That is going to vary based on what you have configured, total lines of code, and # of appliances you may/may not have in cluster.
    M680, based on SMA as stand-alone, should be similar --- you are probably looking @ < 1 MB...
    Looking @ my test environment, in which I have a nightly cron job set to grab a backup of...

  • How can I auto export a PDF File using the "Smallest File Size" preset and set the Exported File Name based on information from an Imported PDF?

    Greetings all,
    I am trying to create a script to automate a PDF export process for my company for inDesign. I’m fairly new to inDesign itself and have no previous experience with javascript, although I did take C++ in high school and have found it helpful in putting this code together.
    We have an inDesign template file and then use the Multi-page PDF importer script to import PDF files. We then have to export two version of each file that we import, then delete the imported file and all of the pages to reset the template. This has to be done for nearly 1000 pdf files each month and is quite tedious. I’m working on automating the process as much as possible. I’ve managed to piece together code that will cleanup the file much quicker and am now trying to automate the PDF exports themselves.
    The files are sent to us as “TRUGLY#####_Client” and need to be exported as “POP#####_Client_Date-Range_North/South.pdf”
    For example, TRUGLY12345_Client needs to be exported as POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_North and POP12345_Client_Mar01-Mar31_South.
    There are two templates built into the template file for the north and south file that are toggled easily via layer visibility switches. I need to get a code that can ideally read the #s from the imported Trugly file as well as the Client and input those into variables to use when exporting. The date range is found in the same place in the top right of each pdf file. I am not sure if this can be read somehow or if it will have to be input manually. I can put North or South into the file name based on which template layer is visible.
    I am not sure how to go about doing this. I did find the following code for exporting to PDF with preset but it requires me to select a preset and then type the full file name. How can I set it to automatically use the “Smallest File Size” preset without prompting me to choose and then automatically input some or preferably all of the file name automatically? (If the entire filename is possible then I don’t even want a prompt to appear so it will be fully automated!)
    PDF Export Code (Originally from here: Simple PDF Export with Preset selection | IndiSnip [InDesign® Snippets]):
    var myPresets = app.pdfExportPresets.everyItem().name;
    myPresets.unshift("- Select Preset -");
    var myWin = new Window('dialog', 'PDF Export Presets');
    myWin.orientation = 'row';
    with(myWin){
        myWin.sText = add('statictext', undefined, 'Select PDF Export preset:');
        myWin.myPDFExport = add('dropdownlist',undefined,undefined,{items:myPresets});
        myWin.myPDFExport.selection = 0;
        myWin.btnOK = add('button', undefined, 'OK');
    myWin.center();
    var myWindow = myWin.show();
    if(myWindow == true && myWin.myPDFExport.selection.index != 0){
        var myPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item(String(myWin.myPDFExport.selection));
        myFile = File(File.saveDialog("Save file with preset: " + myPreset.name,"PDF files: *.pdf"));
        if(myFile != null){
            app.activeDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, myFile, false, myPreset);
        }else{
            alert("No File selected");
    }else{
        alert("No PDF Preset selected");
    So far my code does the following:
    1) Runs the Multi-Page PDF Import Script
    2) Runs PDF Export Script Above
    3) Toggles the Template
    4) Runs #2 Again
    5) Deletes the imported PDF and all pages and toggles template again.
    It’s close and much better than the original process which was almost 100% manual but I’d like to remove the Preset prompt from the PDF script and have it automatically select the “Smallest File Size” preset. and then if there’s a way to have it auto-fill in the file name so no user input is required at all other than selecting each file to import. (If there’s a way to setup a batch action for the multi-import script that would be even better!)
    Thanks in advance and if there’s anything else I can provide that would help please let me know! Even a nudge in the right direction will be a big help!

    If you hold down the option key, it will typically show the location. Or you can often hit option-return on the file and it will reveal the file in the Finder, instead of opening it.
    Final option is to open it, and just option-click the filename in the toolbar of Preview and it should show you the location.
    It's probably an attachment to an email you've received. If you have Mail set to cache emails and their attachments it'll be stashed in a subdirectory of ~/Library/Mail. Which is fine.

  • Exporting an flv that doesn't stutter and is a small file size

    i know you can make an h264 and change the extension to flv but that doesn't help me with this particular issue: I am working in fcp 5.0.4. I have a two minute sequence. When I use the On2 plug-in and export an flv out of fcp I get a 30 MB file and I need to get it down to more like 2 MB! Plus, it stutters. I've tried 15fps and 30 fps. 15 looked better. How shall i get this file to 1. not stutter and 2. be a lot smaller in file size? thanks so much!

  • Exporting video and keeping a reasonable file size

    Hi there,
    I think I am posting in the correct section (Leopard Upgrade from Dec 07 - not upgraded iLife since so does that make it iMovie HD 6? (am away from the Mac right now)).
    I enjoy using iMovie but one thing that bugs me is the Expert settings when exporting to a file.
    For example I have a 30 minute video which I downloaded from a Mini DV camcorder. Now I have done the editing etc but when I go to export it I find that the defaults settings do not give me what I want (640x480 resolution and basic sound quality). So I use the expert settings and play around with them. So far I have placed the settings I want and exported as an .avi and a .mov, I forget which way around it was but one was about 4.5GB! and the other was 700Mb - it is a very simple video - not a lot of movement, its a video of an interview.
    Now on a Windows machine I expect I could export to a .wmv and it would be great quality at under 100MB.
    So, I ask the experts, where am I going wrong in not achieving a good video quality at a manageable file size? I know I could pay up and install the Flip4Mac Studio software but I am sure Apple have provided an equivalent solution that I have not found.
    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jack

    640x480 is a bit 'exotic' if your source is PAL ...
    the smaller the res, the dramatic smaller is file size ..
    try in the expert dialog h264 as codec, if you have low action, try 15 or 12fps, make audio mono..
    you can downsize resulting file by playing around with the quality settings of h264 ..

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 creating a new vhdx and copying from a source vhdx will physical file size reduce?

    Hi,
    I'm running Hyper-V 2012 R2 as part of Server 2012 Essentials.
    As seems common from other threads I've read I have created an expanding VHDX with a maximum size too large (almost the same size as the physical disc it lives on). Although there is only around 350GB of data in the VHDX, the actual file size is approaching
    900GB on the host.
    I'm using the "Add New Virtual Disk" wizard to make a new VHDX to replace this massive file. I want the contents of the old VHDX to be copied to the new one so in the add disk wizard I selected the option to copy the contents of my new disk from
    the original.
    So my question is: the source VHDX is 900GB, the data inside the is around 350GB. What size is my new VHDX likely to be? Is it likely to reduce to nearer the actual data size?
    I'm asking because I'm currently running this operation to an external USB drive and it's painfully slow - going to take hours to complete. If the size isn't going to reduce I may as well cancel it and look for a better option.
    Any comments appreciated.
    David

    I am assuming that you are using dynamic virtual disks for your VHDX (they can be dynamic or fixed).
    And, it is usually some type of transaction, backup agent, of the like that causes this type of behavior.  Some action that requires a cache on disk that is later deleted.
    There is a shrink action that can be done, but that will not optimize fully.
    The way to fully optimize is to mount the old virtual disk and create a new virtual disk and mount it, and then copy the contents from one to the other.  This lays the files out in a nice orderly way, without anything being written to the end of the
    virtual disk causing it to expand strangely.
    Over time, if you are still using the backup agent (for example) that got you into this situation, you will be there again.

  • Exported file size/Lecture Capture

    I have been doing some lecture capture using iShowU which captures my laptop screen and simultaneously capturing the audio on an iPod with an XtremeMac mic. I prefer to do it this way rather than capturing the audio with a wireless mic in the iShowU application, given some unpleasant experiences with computer crashes with large Powerpoint files. I have then melded the two using iMovie and want to export as a QT. However the export time is incredibly long. For a 6 MB video file and 45 MB audio file, it takes 2 hours and I end up with a 92 MB file! Any suggestions welcome, as I am new to audio/video software.

    I have used the drop-down menu that appears when "exporting" and selected the jpg-original size option
    When you export a version with "jpg-original size", Aperture will render a new file, with the pixelsize (width and height) of your original image file, but tat does not necessarily mean that the file size will be equal to the file size of the original image file. The filesize will depend on the jpeg quality setting. The lower the quality value, the smaller the file size.
    I'd suggest you check your "jpg-original size" setting. When you are sharing or exporting, select
    "jpg-original size" and then set the Export preset to "Edit". Check, if the "size to"  is really set to "Original size" and check the jpeg-quality.

  • Export file size for youtube

    Hi
    After reading some of the comments regardind new users I am a little hesitant to pose my question . This is my first post.
    Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so here goes.
    I have a Panasonic X900 video camera which produces excellent shots at full HD1080i .(PAL  AVCHD))
    The file coming from the camera is a .M2TS which I gather is a mpeg variation. A typical shot of 3 minutes is over 300meg.
    I usually create a sequence from the clip and then edit the clip.
    So far so good when I am exporting for use on a DVD.
    I have been asked to video someone doing a dance sequence and to place this on YouTube.
    (Original file size 300meg)Trying numerous settings, the smallest I can get my output file is using H.264 with a YouTube SD 360 wide screen Preset and this gives me 28meg.
    I see numerous .MP4 videos on YouTube of 10 minutes or so and they are still only around 50meg and have reasonable full screen quality.
    I have tried importing one of those and creating a sequence from it but they are normally NTSC and 29fps .
    On the above basis, if I filmed a 9 minute clip and exported it as H.264 etc it would still be approx 70meg.
    I have tried reducing the target bitrate and it certainlyreduces file size but poor quality.
    If this is the best that can be achieved, then so be it.
    Any suggestions on how to get a reasonable quality result while keeping the file size reasonable would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Brian

  • Export file size problem

    I have a .png image which is currently, and needs to remain on a transparent background.
    The canvas size is 1947 x 926 pixels and its resolution is 300 pixels/inch.
    The math will tell you that the physical size of this image is roughly 6.5 inches x 3.1 inches (which is the final size I need the image to be once it gets inserted into a Microsoft Word document).
    The file size is 1.80 MB.
    Is there a way to reduce the file size, without sacrificing image quality once the final Word document gets printed?
    What format should I export the image as, keeping in mind that the background must remain transparent?
    The .png image currently has around 50 layers.  Do I gain anything by flattening the layers or something similar?
    Thank you for any advice you can offer.
    Brian

    Go to File > Image Preview, and choose the PNG32 format. This is a good all-around format that supports transparency and non-lossy compression. In the upper-left corner of the preview window, you'll see the output size; it should be a lot less than your current file size. From here, you can click "OK" to save the settings or you can Export.
    For an even smaller file size, you could try PNG8 with Alpha Transparency, but this format allows only 256 colors (like the GIF format), which makes it a good choice only for flat graphics (i.e., text and vector-based artwork), not for bitmaps or gradients.
    As far your original Fireworks PNG file, you could likely reduce its size by flattening layers—particularly bitmaps. But then you'll sacrifice editability. And it won't impact the output size when exporting the file. So I'd probably leave it as is.

  • IMovie, iDVD & Toast Titanium: LARGE FILES?????

    I CANNOT save a disc image by saving my large video files (21+ GB) using iDVD via iMovie (where I constructed the project with themes, charpter marks, etc..). It will not allow me to use it (iDVD). Is there a way I can burn such large volumes as a disc image and then burn to DVD with the computer requesting new DVD being inserted as needed? Will Toast Titanium handle this? My movie is only 2 hours and 15 min. or so; doesn't anythiing compress it down to fit on a Dual Layer DVD? All of the music I layed under it and other such things ate up memory. Will Toast solve this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for everything!
    Best,
    Mitch

    iDVD doesn't care for size, but length.
    iDVD allows import of up to <120min
    edit project
    or, cut in two:
