Aperture book text placement moves on preview??

I'm running Aperture 3.1.1, made my first book. A large size, hardcover with dust jacket. Went to buy the book and did the preview of it. I have two lines of text on the cover, Title and Subtitle. They are both placed in their default location however when I do a preview of the book before you go to buy it, both lines of text move and are in different locations to the dust jacket and cover.
Apple's print people recommended I remove the .plist file which I did and it made no difference. I have tried everything! The only thing that seems to work is totally reset the page and go with it - but what's the point of that, I'm supposed to be able to customise the pages aren't I?
Any help would be really appreciated. I've searched the forums but can't find any problems similar!

Here is the easy way....
Add a NEW text box. When the text box is selected the ''Set Text Style" button is enabled, so click on it and select the DUST JACKET COVER TITLE. Now delete all the text within the text box so that all is left are spaces (or it's empty).
Now, when you produce the book, the soft cover will have what ever is in this box (which means nothing if you deleted all the characters).
The other choices are SOFT COVER TITLE and COVER TITLE.
Using a combination of these choices you can control what titles appear and which don't.

  • Photo Book text font incorrect in preview?

    Help! I'm using two fontsin a photo book: papyrus for title and baskerville for all other text. In Aperture 3.4.5 everything is fine. When saving as a pdf or previewing to buy, the baskerville font is misaligned at the bottom and looks totally different. How do I correct this or is it a bug?

  • Aperture book text additions in custom mode

    When creating a photo/story book of a trip for a child, I had trouble setting up text other than the types offered in the menu. I did manage to get it in, but was unable to see it until I did a paste content twice. I never truly figured out how to do it, so when resizing some text blocks they didn't also stretch the text to fit.
    Is there any instruction available on how to do this? Also, once the book was completed it told me there were three unused text blocks, but wouldn't show where and I couldn't locate them. The final straw was when trying to purchase the printed book it failed twice. Now, I think it will be confirmed, but haven't got it confirmed yet.

    you have to use timer to "confirm" the letter selected. For example you press '1', you have counter that counts the times you have pressed the '1'-button and then you add the letter corresponding the counter's value.
    Small example:
    String[] values = {".,1","abc","def"... ...};
    keyPressed(keyCode) {
      int index = keyCode - KEY_NUM0;
      if(index == lastindex) charselected++;
      else lastindex = index;
       // here reset the key confirmation timer
       tempInputString+=values[index].char(charselected);
    //When timer gets triggered, it calls this method
    void confirmCharacter() {
        inputString = tempInputString;
        lastindex = -1;
    }Mostlikely not working example, but hopefully gives the idea

  • How do I use metadata text box in Aperture Book

    When I hit the button for a text box, I get a text box. Likewise for a new photo box. What I really want is a metadata text box and when I hit that button nothing happens. I have tried it with a photo selected and on a blank page.
    How do I use the metadata text box in Aperture books? BTW I am working on a small sized soft cover book.

    Do you have a copy of Illustrator installed?
    Then just begin at page 1, read it and practice what you read. Step by step.
    If you don't understand parts of it, dive into the manual as well or ask a question in this forum. But mind that not everybody has a copy of the Classroom in a book. So you need to ask your questions precisely and post screenshots of your artwork.

  • Creating a text Page in Aperture Books

    Is it possible to add an introduction text page to my saved PDF book file in Aperture Books?
    (I see there is an option to add pages and photos, but not an option to add text to a page).
    Many thanks for your feedback,

    Aperture can't do anything with PDF files (apart from render the first page into an image file).
    But you can add a text page to one of your Aperture book layouts very easily:
    1. Add a new page.
    2. Delete any existing photo and metadata boxes.
    3. Add text boxes as needed.

  • Web Preview of Aperture Book

    Is there any way to get a book designed in Aperture on to a web page that people can 'flick through' (i.e. use their mouse to turn the pages)?
    I guess there is a way, but the question is what is the easiest way?
    Can anyone recommend good javascript templates for the book display?

    I do not know how to do it but a search on Google with Flip Book PDF will give you many links.
    On the other hand, have you seen this page ? It is an excellent review of Aperture Large books

    and there is a preview of one of his books here:

    Hope this will help.
    I you find how to do it, I'll be really interested.

  • TS3946 Aperture Book: images look fine in Aperture but not in PDF preview.  OS 10.9, Aperture 3.4.5

    Aperture 3.4.5, OS 10.9.  When making a PDF prior to ordering a book, I note that images look fine within Aperture book module, but about 10 out of 100 images look terrible in the PDF.  Shall I ignore this and go ahead and order the book?

    Hi,
    Strangely I'm now having exactly the same problem all of a sudden.  I've been building the book for about a month now (I've made about 6 before without any trouble) and along the way have been producing a pdf of the book to see how it will look.  Yesterday I noticed some of the images seemed to have lost colour when looking at the pdf version and then today, many pictures all of a sudden look exactly like the example you've supplied above.
    I've tried shutting down my imac and restarting thinking it was a memory issue, have checked if I had any filters activated (which I don't and I haven't used filters in books before either), have tried repairing then rebuilding aperture, copying the book to a new library, new location, opening on a different mac and then printing again but none of this had any positive effect.
    So from what I understand from your last post, the workaround you came up with was to revert to the original of each image that had the problem and then make the adjustments again?

  • Aperture books

    Hi,
    I'm doing my first aperture book. It's 80 pages and when I go to Buy, it says i have one text field with no text. I've been looking throught the book numerous times and I can't see it. My question is, will the text box show when the book is printed even though there is no text in it?
    Also, does anybody know how long it takes from sending to receiving a book here in US.
    Also, is there a good source of hints tips etc. on preparing a book?
    Thank you.
    John

    **** Jon,
    My question is, will the text box show when the book is printed even though there is no text in it?
    Before you order the book, press the "Print" button and select "PDF" -> "Save as PDF". Then carefully  inspect the pdf-file with "Preview", and you will see exactly what you will get, when you order your book,
    I found, that all empty text fields have been suppressed when printing, but I would not like to guarantee that.
    Regards
    Léonie
    P.S. I don't know how long printing in the US will take, in Germany I usually wait for about three work days.

  • Aperture Book quality

    Hi all
    I am using the A3 and want to print a book, but I am not sure about the quality, according to the Apple website, sure they mention PROFESSIONAL quality in text and images. In the real world, is it true professional quality?
    I did some research on Web and some people say good and some people are disappointed. Most people, who are saying good, are in Europe. I am in Australia, not quite sure about it. I went to Apple Store in Sydney and asked to have a look on the sample books. Yes, they were true professional quality photo book...
    Anyone has experience on this?

    My wife and I recently had a book made from Aperture 3. It was the Large size with 100 pages. The first copy we received had a registration problem that caused white type on a black background to have a magenta tint. It was very noticeable so we submitted the problem and they sent another book that was much better.
    Colors in the book are a close match to the colors on my wife's 27" LED iMac. However, the detail of the printed images is not as good as I would have expected and falls short of what would be considered 'professional' printing. I haven't measured the 'screen ruling' that is used in the digital press but I do not believe that it is very high. Looking closely at a printed page, you can see the printed dots with the naked eye. Note, all the images in the book were high resolution images that exceeded the requirements specified by Apple.
    I've asked the Apple book support group for answers to the printing resolutions but they do not have those answers. Any professional book printing place would be able to tell you what screen ruling is used for images and what resolution is used for text. Note that black text all looked good.
    Our next book will not be with Apple unless we can get answers.

  • Why does text box move when I open pages doc on my friend's mac?

    Hi Everyone,
      So I have this very vexing problem with pages. I have been trying to collaborate with a friend of mine and everytime the pages document moves from one computer to the other the text boxes move terribly out of place. So for example, I will make a document and format it perfectly on my computer. Then I will email it to her (or put it up on dropbox or yousendit or zip it and email it) and without fail when she opens it on her computer the text boxes have moved and the document looks horrible, all my design work is totally wasted. The same thing happens if she starts a document on her end and then gives it to me.
    Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions?
    Oh and by the way we are both running OS 10.8.2 and Pages 4.3
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Swati,
    That was a shot in the dark. I remember that the now obsolete MacDraw would reset its margins to suit different printers. I had the thought that because Pages page layout seems similar to MacDraw, it was doing the same. I don't have a printer, so my print settings don't tell me much. Maybe Page Setup or the Print dialogue?
    Let's hope that someone else has more ideas.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • I need to print my Aperture book locally or myself - How do I do it?

    I ordered a book directly from Aperture; however, it will not be shipped in time for my client. So I'm desperate!
    Can I go to a local printer/photo developing place/Kinkos/National Camera - I don't care where...
    and have them print front & back pages with the same/look quality as the book that I ordered from Apple?
    I would even try printing myself, but I'm not sure what paper to buy...how to imitate the look of the pages...
    Either option...will they print full-bleed?
    Has anyone done this? I could buy a printable book set from Best Buy or something (I know Epson makes some, but I would really like a 11x8.5...just like Apple's so I don't have to re-size)...Any ideas?
    Or can I just buy acid free 100# premium matte paper & have a local printer or photo place print it front & back & then I can put it in a cover?
    But how would they do that? Do I hook up my Mac & upload it to them? Do I save as a PDF & if so, will my quality deteriorate?

    Oh dear. Only advice I can offer is to get on the phone, ring the Aperture print service and offer $$ for urgent delivery.
    I've never done an Aperture book, but remember being able to get a .pdf of a book layout from iPhoto, so you may be able to do the same. You can try taking that .pdf to a local printer, but my .pdf's have all been rgb files, when they need to be cmyk to print "properly". try it though, and let us know what happens?

  • What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

    What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

    There is no way to import pages documents to Aperture and convert them to an Aperture book. Aperture books can only be created by manually adding images and text to the pages of a book, and using the layout of the predefined templates.
    The best you could do, would be to print your pages document to pdf and import the resulting pdf file into Aperture as a new project. This will create one image for each page. Then select the page images all at once and  create a new book. Select a theme with fullsize page images, like "picture Book", and then add the images of the pages to the empty pages of the book.
    But probably would you get a much better quality and layout, when you recreate your pages document in Aperture, by starting with an empty book and copying and pasting the text from your Pages document. But don't paste the photos from the document - try to use the originals of those photos.

  • Changing fonts on all pages in Aperture book

    Hi there - anyone know if it is possible to change the font for ALL the pieces of text in one go, in an Aperture book?
    At the moment, all I am able to do is to change them page by page.
    Also, can one edit the page numbers text - font and size?
    Thanks!

    Here are a few ideas for you to consider...
    If you decide to do find/replace, back up your pages first.
    This might be the perfect time to deliver that div's content
    via SSI
    (Server side include)
    (will pay off in the future as well)
    You might just rename your new images with the old image
    names
    (will only work if they are the same size and no change in
    the alt text is
    required)

  • Aperture does not update a photo preview after editing in external editor

    I have noticed this problem after installing the last Aperture (3.2.3) update. It appears to be common to my Mac Pro and Mac Book Pro. The updated preview is visible only in "viewer" mode (menu / view / viewer). It's interesting, that updated preview appears in "viewer" mode on both displays (I use two monitors). And when I switch into "split view" the preview switch also and is not updated.
    After relaunching Aperture previews are updated.
    The thumbnail looks to be good (updated). This problem makes my work really uncomfortable.

    This seems to be a bug, and has been discussed in several threads. See this workaround suggested by shuttersp33d: This helped me Re: saving from photoshop
