Aperture books chnage the format

Can we change the format of the books from landscape to portrait

Hi barbara10,
so far I do not know "Live Media Type", I guess Export your slideshow for "HD1080p" or for Codec: H264
should be OK for iDVD.
This belongs to German Version of Aperture.
Did you create the slideshow? Was it a external slideshow?
Hope this helps

  • Aperture Book Quality is Very Very Very Low

I just wanted to warn others about the quality of the Aperture books. I ordered a few from Apple. The printing quality is so poor I was shocked. I can't believe they would have a "professional" program with such a poor service.
    Shame on Apple.

IMO, the book tool was only included as last minute "yeah we have that" thing.
LR lacks a book tool, but c'mon who in their right mind would actually sell Aperture books to a wedding client?
The quality of those books is like showing up to a wedding with a 3 megapixel compact point and shoot camera.
I do recognize that they do serve a purpose, it just is not in the same class as real albums.
Heck the books from SharedInk are the same price and they blow the Aperture books outta the water.

  • JPEG or TIFF format for an Aperture book

I have some top quality TIFF files that I would like to make into an Aperture book. Does the TIFF format work? Or do I need to turn them into JPEGs to reduce the file size?

    Hi,
from my experience it does not matter what format you use internally.
What will get send to Apple is a PDF file with all images converted and compressed.

  • Re-order a book from the original version of Aperture?

In 2010 I ordered a hardcover book, 8.5 x 11, with 100 pages from Apple, successfully prepared in the original version of Aperture.
Now I need to reprint another one of this book. Can I send it to Apple in the original Aperture version or must I upgrade to Aperture 2.0 or 3.0. I don't want to re-create or re-format the book. My preference would be to only upgrade if necessary and/or if glitches are predictable.

Can I order a book using the trial version of Aperture?
Yes. The trial includes all of the features which are present in the full version.

  • How do I find which photo iPhoto is telling me I have a problem with? I'm trying to buy a book I've formatted, but in place of the filename, it just calls it "(null)". All of the photos I'm using have names.

How do I find which photo iPhoto is telling me I have a problem with?
I'm trying to buy a book I've formatted, but in place of the filename, it just calls it "(null)".
All of the photos I'm using have names.

That same one others seem to have gotten: "Unable to Assemble Book -- There is a problem with the photo with the filename “(null).” The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your book"
I've tried restarting iPhoto with the option and command keys pressed, and asking it to repair permissions, but still have the same message...

  • If I donwload e-books from various e-book retailers and want to back them up on an external hard drive without losing the format, do I need a special hard drive?

If I download e-books from various e-book retailers and want to back them up on an external hard drive without losing the format, do I need to know anything special?

I just looked into this as I was moving my iPad to a new computer for synching.  With no thanks to Kobo for any really useful information on their help site (this discussion was the most useful info I found), I think the following may address your issue with respect to Kobo.
    1. There is not easy or official way to back up Kobo books from your iPad.
    2. Kobo keep track of your personal library.  Go to the Kobo website (Kobo.com) and sign in to your account.  On the very top line is "My Library".  That contains (or at least Kobo says it does) everything you have ever bought from Kobo.  Kobo say that you may download any of this content to other devices you own at no charge.
    3. I synched my iPad to the new computer.  According to Apple, that will delete all my data as the apps are re-installed from the new compute.  While all my apps got moved around from the order I previously had (many thanks Apple), all my books are still there together with my bookmarks etc.  Looks like this did nothing to change any Kobo data.
While I do not like the idea that I cannot create a backup on my main computer, it is probably safer in the long run that there is a backup at Kobo.  After all, I could lose all my equipment in a fire or something, and then personal  backups would be of little use.

  • HT4059 when I try and open epub books on my ipad it says the format is not recognised how do i solve this

I have transferred my epub books into the itunes file and synced my ipad but when I click on them I get an rror message that says

  • IPad won't open iBooks - error message that book isn't formatted correctly, iPad is fully updated and I've tried deleting and reloading iBooks - only thing that has happened between when it used to work and now doesn't is that I took the iPad to singapore

iPad used to open iBooks purchased off iTunes no problems but since I took my iPad overseas on holiday it no longer opens iBooks - they appear to download ok but when I tap to open the book I get an error message saying the book isn't formatted correctly or is in a format that iBooks doesn't recognise. I have tried
    - deleting and reloading iBooks
    - making all updates have been done
    - turning on and off airplane mode
    And still have the problems
Did ask iTunes help but so far no joy - appreciate help please

Ok, I got the 1.3/1.4 thing straight now. There was a java.exe in System32 that I now see the PATH was calling first.
And in the TextPad version of the problem, I was curious -- I don't remember setting the specification of the executable called by the Run Tool button, but I must have at some point. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it created a default button that apparently points to what it's supposed to point to, since it now works and runs my program OK.
Still, I wonder how it can be that explicitly directing the button to C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin\java.exe makes TextPad's Command Results Window say "NoClassDefFoundError"
I'm up and working now, but if anyone has a clue I can learn from on the TextPad issue, thanks

  • What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

What is the best way to create Aperture book from Pages '09 document?

There is no way to import pages documents to Aperture and convert them to an Aperture book. Aperture books can only be created by manually adding images and text to the pages of a book, and using the layout of the predefined templates.
The best you could do, would be to print your pages document to pdf and import the resulting pdf file into Aperture as a new project. This will create one image for each page. Then select the page images all at once and  create a new book. Select a theme with fullsize page images, like "picture Book", and then add the images of the pages to the empty pages of the book.
But probably would you get a much better quality and layout, when you recreate your pages document in Aperture, by starting with an empty book and copying and pasting the text from your Pages document. But don't paste the photos from the document - try to use the originals of those photos.

  • Custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_YYMMDD_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such, as well as extract only the camera file

Please advise how to custom batch rename files with Aperture 3 in the following format: IMG_0023.cr2 to Smith_120816_0023.cr2?  I cannot find a way to structure the date in Aperture as such (YYMMDD), as well as extract only the camera file (0023, for example).  Adobe Bridge CS5 can do this, but NONE of the Adobe software is retina optimized, and is terrible to look at.

In Aperture you are limited to renaming files by the entries in the File Naming preset window.
At what point are you looking to rename, import or export? It might be possible to do what you are looking to do external to Aperture either via a script or other software.

  • I hired a commercial artist to create a color image for the cover of a self published book. I want a black and white image for the inside. The commercial artist has not responded to this request. How do I determine the format of the color image, I'm guess

I hired a commercial artist to create a color image for the cover of a self published book. I want a black and white image for the inside. The commercial artist has not responded to this request. How do I determine the format of the color image, I'm guessing it's Illustrator's formatting but I don't know. How can I find out if Illustrator will open the file and allow alterations? The image opens only in Apple's Pages software?

    rons,
It seems that all you have is a raster image, presumable PNG24 or JPEG, in RGB.
It may have been created as raster artwork in Photoshop, or it may have been created as vector artwork with the help of Illy, or as a mixture of vector and raster artwork in either application, or both combined.
If you just need to have a raster representation in black and white based on the current colour image, you may try this, in a new RGB document (View>Smart Guides are your friends):
    1) File>Place the image (you may tick Link or untick and have it embedded);
    2) Create a rectangle with black fill (R = G = B = 0), at least as large as the image, and place it behind the image (you may ClickDrag with the Rectangle Tool between opposite corners, then Ctrl/Cmd+X+B);
    3) Select all and in the Transparnecy palette flyout click Make Opacity Mask with both Clip and Invert Mask ticked.

  • Can you create a book from the Aperture free trial?

I have created a book on the Aperture free trial and can't seem to buy it. Is there any way I can or can I not buy a book off of the Aperture free trial?

The free trial is a fully functioning version of Aperture so you should be able to buy a book with it. What problems are you having?

  • New Aperture Book Hot Off the Presses - 519 pages of fun

    Howdy,
For those of you interested in learning more about Aperture, Orlando Luna & Ben Long's book is out.
I've had it for about a week an a half & find it well written & very informative with many great details that have not previously been published about Aperture. The book comes with practice Project lessons on a DVD which meticulously take you through the application.
Learn how to create Metadata Sets, advance editing using the Histograms, streamline your workflow using Automator...
The book covers the 1.1 features also, like Boost, RAW fine tuning, Chroma blur...

    Hello, Joe
    Welcome to the forum/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
Quote: "I just got back from the Santa Monica Aperture train-the-trainer class. We were the first class to use the new book..."
    Erm,...that's what you think
We started using this book on Saturday the 6th of last week at Moviola and you're class started on Tuesday the 9th of this week so we beat you to it.
Actually, if you want to get technical about it we have been teaching from this book (in PDF form 7 chapters except for the 1.1 stuff) at Moviola since January 2006.
    Quote: "it worked great."
    Yes, 3 cheers for Ben & Orlando/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
Quote: "She said that her book does have a little more scripting in it for Automator and Applescript but basically it's the same."
The Automator section of Orlando & Ben's book made me a big fan of Automator. They include many Automator Actions for Aperture & Photoshop. Neeto stuff
    Quote: "I don't think she's a pro photographer..."
There is no substitute for, "open it up all the way," "did you bring the fast film?," "stop it down," "bracket that," "what bulb setting are you using?" "who contaminated the fixer?...
    Take care, Joe/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
