Aperture Bounces in Dock, then Nothing

I have just downloaded the trial version of Aperture, but when I try to run it, it just bounces once or twice in the dock and then disappears. I am running Leopard (10.5) and have a MBP with 2 gigs of RAM. Any ideas?

I do declare, this is weird. I am also stumped at the fact that if a person has never run Aperture on their system that the Aperture trial will not start up properly after being installed. Is there anyone else who has any ideas?
Try this: If there is an Aperture Library in your Pictures folder then delete it. Try starting up again. Another thing is to uninstall Aperture, download from Apple again, and install it again.
Maybe something was wrong with the trial. I just remembered the my MBP came with a 1.5.3 trial of Aperture but just bounced in the Dock and quit so I just copied the App itself from my other Mac to MBP and it started up. The one on my other Mac was not a trial but was v1.5.6. This all happened in 10.5.1.
I will keep working on this and see if there is anything else I might be missing.

  • Help!?  skype problem! one bounce in dock then gone! ?

i just installed skype onto mac os x version 10.3.9.... (the computer is my mom's emac)
the computer had problems, so i had to re-instal the os-- start from scratch-- skype was working fine before, but now it just gives one bounce in the dock, then vanishes. weird seeing as now the system is 'virgin', there shouldn't be probs. i've tried looking in the firewall area in system prefs, but no luck- i don't even see skype listed.
    why is this happening??
i've got to have skype! how do i get it back!
i know this has been a problem with people running leopard, but that's not me!

Skype requires QuickTime 7 to run, which isn't included with Mac OS X 10.3 or earlier. QuickTime 7 can be downloaded for free.

  • App keeps bouncing in dock, then just stops. Doesn't open.

So I had Rapidweaver working fine earlier today, then I installed some plugins and tried opening the software again - then it just kept bouncing in the dock, didn't open...
Tried reinstalling, and looked to remove every trace of the program - but when I had uninstalled it, there was nothing left in the application support folder for me to remove..
    Any suggestions?

  • Safari starts bouncing in dock then disappears, can't launch

I recently had Safari 3.0.4 and it couldn't start: It would start bouncing
in the dock for a few seconds then disappear.
I installed the 3.2.1 update (and the security update necessary for Mac OS Tiger)
but it still does the same thing. Yes I did restart after install...
I have Firefox and it works fine. Is there a conflict between the two?
    Thanks
    Firefox 3.0.1
    Safari 3.2.1

    Hi
No conflict exists between those browsers, however, either there is a 3rd party Safari add-on not compatible with Safari 3, or there is some corruption in the cache files that requires clearing.
Regarding add-ons: anything in these locations:
HD>Library>Inputmanagers folder, or Applications Support>SIMBL>Plug-ins folder.
Same as above, except Your User Account>Library.
If no, then have a look at this post for suggestions about clearing the cache.

  • ITunes Bounces in Dock then quits

A friend has asked me to help her with an annoying problem she is having when she logs in to her account.  When she logs in iTunes bounces a few time in the Dock and acts like it’s opening, with the indicator showing, too, but then stops bouncing, and the indicator goes out, too.  She has even removed iTunes from the Dock and it still does the same thing, with the exception that when it stops bouncing the iTunes icon disappears.
I’ve removed iTunes and iTunes Helper from her Login Items, deleted her entire ~Library/Caches folder, deleted her com.apple.iTunes.plist preference file.  She has another user account and it is not doing this in that account.  That points to something in HER account, if I'm not mistaken, and that would point to her Library, right?
Any idea what could be causing iTunes to bounce like this?
    She is running 10.8.5

Make sure the iTunes app is in the Applications folder, not on the desktop.
Re download iTunes >  Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
Do not delete the current copy.
    Then try iTunes.

  • Applications bounce on dock but nothing happens!!??

I've Been Trying to use an application called crossover but every time I Open It It Just bounces for ages and does nothing!
    Please Help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • Internet apps bounce in dock: nothing

Safari, iChat and Software Update all bounce once in dock then nothing.
This happened after an unexpected shutdown. This is after a clean 10.4 install and software update had run to most of 10.4.11. Repaired permissions (which never does anything). I suspect I need to delete some file(s) but what? I dont have the original install disk.

  • Logic Wont Start - Icon Bounces Once then nothing

Hi All, really hoping for some help here as I am freaking out and can't get my logic pro 8 to open.
The only thing I have done to my mac since it last worked was installed SampleTank 2XL, which should not have caused a problem. So just in case it was the issue I uninstalled it again.
I have ensured my computer has the latest updates.
The icon just bounces once, and then nothing, no error messages or anything to help me work out what the heck is happening.
Hope someone might be able to help.
    Thanks
    Brett

    Agreed. Download Appcleaner http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#appcleaner
Drag the Logic app on it, and reinstall (just the app) after deleting.

  • HELP!  QT Icon bounces once, then nothing

When I click on my QT icon in the task bar, it bounces once and then nothing happens. QT fails to load. Anyone ever experience this and what the **** can I do to fix it?
    Thanks!
    Allen

You may be able to repair this with the 10.4.2 Stand Alone Combo Update.
This is a full install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It has worked well for many.
EDIT: First you might try re-installing QT
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime703.html
Repair permissions before and after update:
Navigate to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility (Double Click to Launch) > Choose your HD in the sidebar > First Aid Tab > Click on "Repair Disk Permissions".

  • Photo Boot doesn't want to open up, 10.4.11, bounces once and then closes.

This error is what shows up in the Console after I try to open Photo Boot. The program itself just bounces once and then nothing happens (it crashes).
    dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/ScriptingBridge.framework/Versions/A/ScriptingBridge
    Referenced from: /Applications/Photo Booth.app/Contents/MacOS/Photo Booth
    Reason: image not found
This happens in two iMac Intel Core Duo, with Tiger 10.4.11.

    Hi Adrian
the error literally means what it says -part of photobooth is trying to open a file /System/Library/Frameworks/ScriptingBridge.framework/Versions/A/ScriptingBridge but it can't & clearly photobooth won't run without it.
you can look in /System/Library/Frameworks/ScriptingBridge.framework/Versions/A/ with Finder to confirm that the file is missing; sometimes just one file disappears like that.
However, perhaps ignore the above, since a quick search for where you'd find the scriptingbridge framework to download or reinstall from disk suggests that it was never in Tiger at all - and that you might be running Photobooth 2 ( a Leopard app ). do a get info on Photobooth via Finder & see what version it says... or check the full crash report.

You most likely ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • IMovie give a half-hearted bounce, then nothing. Before I re-install...

I couldn't sleep last night, decided to tinker around and do a little video editing but I had a blonde moment and attempted to import a video with a / in the title and naturally got the "error -37" message.
    D'oh!!
When I attempted to relaunch iMovie, the icon bounced once then nothing. I went inside my Home folder, opened the Library, opened Preferences, and deleted: com.apple.imovie3.plist
    No dice.
Is my only option left to re-install iMovie? Am I missing something? Did I accidentally kill iMovie? (I know, killing an App. sounds ludicrous and one reason I love macs so much b/c they're so forgiving, but still...)
Before I attempt to unearth my restore/iLife discs, I wanted to check with the wise, all-knowing Mac Pooh-bahs here.
    Thanks so much, in advance!

I think first thing to do is some basic system maintenance. Start with this page and try the stuff there and see if that gets you anywhere...

My usual routine when problems pop up is MacJanitor, Repair Disk Permissions, then cache Out X, followed by a restart. And I always do these before creating a DVD in iDVD.

I updated the IPAD with the latest update and now when I turned the IPAD on, I get the itunes logo and then nothing else.  How can I fix this to let me use my IPAD?

    YOU ARE IN RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.
