Aperture can not see folders on Hard Drive

Hi Guys, i have a problem that i cant seem to find an answer to.
I have a mac pro with an SSD and 3 x internal drives. when i try to import files in to aperture i can see all the drives in the import dialog, and i can see all the folder contained therein, except for one of the drives. i can see the drive but no folders. If i use Lightroom i can see all the drives and all the folders contained in them. I have rebuilt the library i have even created a new library, but still no luck. Can anyone help.
Thanks in advance

Then I have no idea, sorry.
Does Aperture at least see an image file, if you copy an image to the toplevel of that drive?
Or if you sign into your Mac from a different user account? That will exclude problems caused by conflicting preferences files or import presets.

  • I can not see my external hard drive that is hooked to my airport extreme

I have hooked my iOmega 1tb hard drive to my airport extreme but can not see it on my macbook pro. need help to set this up

This is unsupported by Apple. You must configure Airport Utility to turn enable File Sharing of the drive in Sharing preferences and in the AEBS configuration. Then you have to "mount" the drive on your Desktop by selecting Connect To Server from the Finder's Go menu.

I download all pictures and videos that I had in the windows pc  in the new hdd.  I am trying to see and watch  those files on my iPad . I am thinking that since the files are jpeg and mpeg the iPad should read it.
    Am I wrong?
    Yes, you are wrong.
You need to add the files to iTunes on your computer, then sync the iPad with iTunes.

Strange if the drive format is Mac extended (journalled).  (see:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3ac6d42c)
Can you can see the external drive in the finder?
Can you read to and write from it with the finder?
Have you tried Trashing the iMovie preferences file and re-launching?

  • Time machine can not select my internal hard drive any more.

    Hi all
Time machine can not select my internal hard drive any more. I only can back up external disks. Does anyone know how to fix this?
    All answers are much appreciated

I don't know the answer but I have the same thing happen. I have two external drives I use for backup. Sometimes it can see one and sometimes another. Then sometimes it can't see either one.  I will take one out for a while then plug it back in and then it may see it.  Maybe it's a cable issue or something but I will be curious to hear what someone more knowledgeable says.

  • Migration Assistant can't see my external hard drive.

Migration Assistant can't see my external hard drive with my back-up info on it. I need to migrate my user data from an older back-up ( OS X 10.4.11) to a recently installed OS X 10.5.8 system on a Mac Pro.  The external drive is not bootable.  Any ideas?

    Great news, thanks!
    On iTunes see this...

Expand the External drive section & it's 6 steps.

  • MBP 5.5 can't see my new Hard drive

MBP 5.5 can't see my new Hard drive even though its running Mavericks off the new Hard Drive through a usb cradle

I've seen suffienct posts on this site to not argue about the problems with SATA cables, however it sounds like what you're saying is that the SATA cable is bandwidth limited. The types of things I remember reading about are actual breaks in the cable, rendering it useless for all drives, or the insulation wearing off. In the latter, it's on units where the cable crosses over an optical drive and starts intermittently shorting out on the case. If this happens the user typically gets data corruption, but the drive is usually seen and visible.
On the other hand, I do software development and we have to be able to boot numerous versions of MacOS. For reasons known only to God (and Apple, I hope) once in a while the NVRAM seems to get mixed up and ends up being unable to see the boot drive. Doing the resets always corrects the problem.
I wouldn't dismiss your recommendation of replacing the cable, but the resets are free and easily done.
Another freebee to try would be to hold down the "alt' key before powering on the unit, turn on the power, and then, while holding down the alt key, see if the drive shows up as a bootable drive. This will only work if there's an OS installed on the drive.
In my opinion, it's always best to try the free things before going out and buying anything.

  • I can not find my seagate hard drive that contain my time machine back ups  how do i do that?

my airport extreme can not locate my seagate hard drive with all my back ups how do i fix this i need to restore some settings?

    As Bob says, that's problematical.
If you were backing-up to that drive while it was directly-connected to your Mac, and now want to move it to your Airport, there's an extra problem.  See the blue box in #E2 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If you had previously been backing-up to the drive over your network, the backups may be corrupted (that happens rather often, and is the reason it's not recommended).  If so, you may be able to repair them, per #A5 in the same article.
Or, you may need to reset the Airport.  See Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ.

  • I can't see my external hard drive on the network.

I can't see my external hard drive on the network. I have a WRT160NL router with USB. I plugged the drive in the USB and set up a share in the router config.

Did you map the drive? It won't show up in Explorer automatically like a jump drive or an external drive plugged directly into the PC will.
You didn't mention the OS you're running, but what you want to do is choose "Map a network drive" and you'll see the router listed as a network device. Click on it and you should see the external drive listed. You can map it from there.

  • I can't see my external hard drive connected to my TC

I can't see my external hard drive connected to my TC, I have connected to the USB port on my TC but cannot see it , any ideas

    Hello Bob,
I have a powered hub plugged into my Time Capsule.
Into the powered hub I have a printer; printer works fine.
Into the powered hub I have an ExFAT formatted disk.
The ExFAT disk is seen in the AirPort Utility as an "AirPort Disk".
I cannot see the ExFAT disk in Finder or in Window's "My Computer".
When I plug the ExFAT drive directly into Mac or Windows computers the drive is seen in Finder and My Computer.
When the ExFAT drive is plugged directly into Mac or Windows both can read and write files.
Do you think that I need to format the USB ExFAT drive as FAT 32?
I have heard mention "need to map the drive". Do you think this would help?
    Thank you for your time.
    Rob

  • Why can I see my external hard drive?

For 2 years or more I've had an external hrad drive to back up my Imac. One day I got a message that there had not beeb a back up for for a really long time  ( I have it on automatic).
Ever since, I have not been able to see the external hard drive on mi Imac and have not been able to do regular back ups.
First I turned off, on, restart computer and tried to see if it showed up on another computer, which it did.
What could the problem be?  It was working just fine.
    Please help
    Thanks

EHD's can crash. First thing I'd recommend though is to do 2-3 SMC resets. Shut down the computer, then remove the power cord from both the wall plug and back of the computer, wait 15-20 seconds and restart normally and test.
If that fails use another cable to connect the drive, if that fails open Disk Utility and see if the EHD can be seen. If that fails then replace the drive. I would STRONGLY recommend 2 backups, use Time Machine on disk 1 and then use a create a clone using either SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner on the other drive. When it comes to backing up, redundancy is smart. Would you trust your bank if  they only had one form of backup of all your money??

  • Time Machine can't see my external hard drive

Time Machine won't show me any backup disk options other than  "Set up Time Capsule".  When I click on that, it searches for AirPort wireless which I do not have installed.  How do I get Time Machine to see my external hard drive connected via Fire Wire?  I went into Disk Utility and it showed the external drive was there.  Backups had been working previously.

  • Switched on my imac 24inch intel based and all I get on screen is a folder with question mark flashing,I had backup on external hard drive but when I try to reinstall it can not find my mac hard drive

Hi when I started my intel based imac this morning all I am getting is a folder with question mark in the middle flashing,I have external hard drive with backup, but when run disc utilities it does not show my mac hard drive.hope someone can help.(it's running mountain lion, well it was)

Try starting up your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk then click Restart.
The question mark folder indicates your Mac cannot find a system folder to boot from.
A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac

  • My MacBook Pro can not find my internal hard drive.

My computer does come on. And I have a MacBook Air 2009. Just some history, my computer froze on me one day. So I restart it and a screen with a folder and question mark showed up. So I called apple and got some trouble shooting done. Nothing worked. So they ended up sending me another installer disk. And that did not work. Could not find my internal hard drive. So I took it to a apple store and the guy who looked at it told me that it was water damaged and would cost $700 to fix. So I pushed it to the side for year and decided to take a further look into it recently. And found some information where people had the same issue and was advices their hard drive could be dead. So I'm thinking about getting a 2nd opinion and taking it some where else. I'm just wondering could I really just replace my hard drive and be fine with my computer? If its really water damaged wouldn't it not work? Does replacing the hard drive cost a lot to do?

Its extremely unlikely your HD is water damaged, everything on your internals in your macbook Pro would FRY long before water seeped its way into your HD,....the HD circuitry on the outside of the HD however is another story.
If your computer IS in fact water damaged, then yes, replacing the hard drive wouldnt fix anything.
Replacing the HD yourself , IF your HD is dead and at fault, can be done by yourself easily and cost around $65.
In any regard, on a 2009 computer....., 700$ could buy you a nice MUCH NEWER and faster like new refurbished MAC,........as such it would be best not to consider such an option.

  • CAN NOT INSTALL ON THIS HARD DRIVE

I am currently running 10.3.9 on my 450 Mhz G4 which has 640 MB SDRAM but when I try to install my Tiger CD's (actually looking for the Archive and install option) I get a message that I can not "install Tiger on this drive". I own the CD's and actually have installed them on my wife's mac mini, so I know that the CD's are good. Thoughts anyone?

    Malcolm,
'Will have to check with the previous owner of the mac mini as I do not know if they were purchased seperate from the mac mini or came with that HD. But, thankyou; as, I believe that you have me going down the right road.
