Aperture Dates Incorrect

I am trying to come to grips with some metadata issues I am having in Aperture.  The latest is how Aperture seems to be mis-handling dates of late.
Here is the extracted date metadata from 3 images to assist in the discussion:
ExifTool Version Number         : 8.73

Notice, that in all cases the date/time stamps are the same across all metadata fields for each image.  That is to say - they were taken on two different dates and the timestamps properly reflect that.  However, on import Aperture imports them into the same ingest folder despite having the option set to break up folders 1 per day.
In the screen shot below, we see the Import Autosplit Preference selection.
This is a new (fresh) library.  Repairs have been run, and so has rebuild.
Secondly - during import I noticed that Aperture (around photo 2,000) began tagging the photo dates as 12 January 2012.   I am continuing to manually review date data in images, but cannot seem to locate the issue.
Anyone have any ideas?

I seem to have found the other issue.
It looks like Aperture is now using the IPTC Metadata field DateCreated to indicate the image date, as opposed to the (more appropriate IMHO) EXIF Metadata field DateTimeOriginal.  Looking at my metadata it appears that during one of the system crashes a number of files had the IPTC field truncated and it of course wasn't discovered during backups.
So fast forward to restoration - and I have a number of files with IPTC:DateCreated entries of
======== NIKON D200---2300-DSC_2277.NEF
Date/Time Original              : 2007:10:13 14:09:05
Date Created                    : 2007-10-
Imports into Aperture as:     12 Jan 2012
I am assuming because it's an invalid date entry - so Aperture just picks one for me instead of checking for a GPS Date/Time entry or even the Date/Time Original field.  Thankfully there are multiple date fields in the originals or I couldn't have recovered from this.  And with some 20,000 more images to go - I fear what the rest of them look like.

  • Time and/or Date incorrect after moving/copying/importing

This has been going on for years and has messed up hundreds, maybe more, of the time/date on my photos in Aperture.
If I select my entire photo library (typically preset to 'Date - Ascending') in Aperture, I can find hundreds of photos out of order. When I look at them in 'Info', the time and sometimes date has changed by several hours. I'm not sure if this is an Aperture thing or Mac thing? Over the years I have moved and/or copied photos from smaller HDDs to larger HDDs to eventually a NAS unit and/or from iPhoto to Aperture.
I have made calls to Tech Support, but they have always made me feel as if I made some mistake on my end or I didn't set the time correctly to begin with (now this could be correct with the P&S I share with my girlfriend, but very rarely with my DSLR). But I also explained that it was random (3 to 5 photos in a set).
So today as I was trying to update some of my photos, I came across some photos (and videos) I took last year with my iPhone (my iPhone always has the correct time and date or 99.9%). I originally uploaded these to an old iPhoto library I still have (all the dates and times are correct). These same photos and videos (55 over a 3 day period) were moved to my Aperture library some time ago and 3 of the 55 have the incorrect time by -7 hours (ie. 3:30 pm is now 8:30 am).
Why does this happen?? I have not set any time changes to these photos. If I did, they would all have the wrong time and not just 3 of them would be off.
Is anyone having this issue and if so, was there a way to get the corrcet time/date from the photo hidden deep down in the EXIF? This is driving me crazy.
Here are some screen shots of the same photo in iPhoto and Aperture.
    iPhoto 5:28:09 PM - Correct
    Aperture 10:28:09 AM - Incorrect -7 hrs
TIA if anyone can help. I just don't have the time to go back and try and change all these photos.

Thanks for the reply, I will try to post the screenshots again (they still show for me, odd?).
Anyway, this is not a zoning problem. This is a moving or copying problem.
The photos I tried to show from the screen shot I took last year at a concert in Coachella (same time zone as my residence in Redondo Beach). The shots were taken using my iPhone which has GPS and constant updating of Time. All the photos and videos show up correctly in Places (GPS) and all the correct times show in iPhoto.
The issue occurs when the photos are moved to Aperture. Randomly the time has changed to -7 hours on a few photos. This same randomness has occured to hundreds of my photos that I have imported into Aperture over the years. As I said before, Tech Support and everyone else has placed the blame on me within my camera settings or improper importing.
Now that I use my iPhone more often, I have proof that the settings are correct and that Aperture or Finder or ?? within Apple has changed the Time randomly. Also, if I had 'Accidently' opened the 'Time Zone' brick when importing (as suggested by Tech Support), all the photos would have the incorrect time and not just a few random ones.
iPhoto original from iPhone - Time 5:28:09 correct
Aperture photo from iPhoto - Time 10:28:09 incorrect -7 Hrs
    Thanks again,
    Narvon

  • Generate DDL formatting data incorrectly

    Greetings all,
So I appear to have found the issue with my Generated DDL File. It is formatting the lines incorrectly and I have to manually go in and clean it up.
    For example:
ALTER TRIGGER  "BI_MIMPBM_CA_GROUP_LKP" ENABLE;CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER  "BI_MIMPBM_CAT_LKP"
      before insert on "MIMPBM_CAT_LKP"
      for each row
    begin
      if :NEW."CATID" is null then
        select "CAT_LKP_SEQ".nextval into :NEW."CATID" from dual;
      end if;
end;Notice how the ENABLE;CREATE are on the same line. That throws an error. I am not sure why as I thought the ; ended a piece of code, but when I do a carriage return on it and then put it in, it works. I am using Application Express 4.0.2.00.07 and not sure if it is the application or something I am doing in the formatting of my code when I create anything.
Is anyone else having this issue when generating DDL files? If so, is there a work around besides going through the whole script and adding carriage returns as necessary?
    Thanks

  • Net due date incorrect in FBL3N report

    Hi,
Net due date is coming correctly in Vendor Display report FBL1N, however the same entry when we see in reconciliation account in FBL3N we get the wrong due date. We are going thorough GL head to get the correct amount which is tallying with f.08 data for ageing group-wise. For this reason net due date is required.
Let me know if there is any other way I can proceed.
    Regards,
    Devdatth

    Hi,
    Waiting for reply.
I need to know, why in FBL1N we get the correct net due date and in FBl3N get incorrect net due date.
    For example:
    in FBL1N the entry is-
doc date           Baseline date           Net due date             Pay terms
    08.10.2012         08.11.2012              08.12.2012                30 days
the same entry in FBL3N is-
doc date           Baseline date          Net due date              Pay terms
    08.10.2012        08.11.2012              08.11.2012                 30 days
i.e in FBL3N report also the same date 08.12.2012 should appear. But the report is showing incorrect date.

  • "order date" incorrect on purchase orders

    SRM 5.00
When purchase orders are created the "order date" (on the output) is 1 hour behind the actual time of creation.  The system time, user timezone, etc are all set to BST / GMTUK and when creating the purch document and having the timestamp in the doc name, the timestamp is correct.  however, when I view the output, the time is one hour behind.
Could anyone suggest any particular settings / params that I should check ?
    much appreciated
    Scott.

Our developers have debugged the process and found that some of the timestamps are incorrect by 1hr, because the fields are described by the domain BCOS_TSTMP which has an obsolete conversion routine attached, TSTPS, which does not change the time for local BST.
Other timestamps are described by the domain COM_TSTMP, with a conversion routine, TSTLC, which correctly alters the time for BST.

  • Data incorrect in PSA when Loading.

guys i have a generic data source in my DEV R/3 environment, i had to change some code in its function module for loading, the data source bring the right data for employees and is active in rsa6. i have replicated the data source  in BWD.. now here is the issue, i have have 1 selection criteria in infopackage "employee number". when i leave it blank, i get incorrect rates while loading trough PSA or directly in the ODS.But when i specify employee number , the data comes out correctly in the PSA and ODS. any thoughts?

i cannot paste the code here.. RSA3, the data source brings the correct data...but in BW PSA it doesnt, i have a feeling its still trying to pull up old data even after replication, How can i check if there is logical set up for it?

  • Aperture Data Base lost

    Hi All:
I have an old MacBookPro 2008, (the first aluminum model) with upgraded hardware and software to 1Tb HD, plus 8Mb RAM. IOS Maverick 10,9,5 and Aperture 3,5,1.
Initially When I began with second Aperture version, accidentally I made two database in separate files. When upgraded Aperture to version 3, both database  merged to one. Unfortunately in this process I loose some original files, only appeared the versions.
I backuped in an external disk with time machine prior to upgrade to 1Tb and RAM.
The new configuration, ran fast during a short time. First The Mac shut down unexpectedly, and when started, it requires  repair disk. It never repaired correctly. After checking many procedures, I ran fsck -fy three times  with no success. Finnally the hard drive did not started IOS more, so I had to replace it.
I replaced for a new 1Tb, and with Time Machine I restored the information, the IOS and data.
The problem with Aperture began to intensify, and it claimed for repair data any time I started Aperture. I used also restore, with no success and as a result the 90% of my photos disappeared, only the folders exist, and some photos has a exclamation alert above the file.
Unfortunatelly last time I was restoring the system Time Machine took all the night doing the process, finished and next time it tried to back up, overwrite old version (non corrupted) and as a result all my backups are corrupted.
I tried to downloaded my recent photos using Lightroom, but Aperture opens when I connected the Compact Flash card reader.  I cancelled the preview in Aperture, but surprisingly it does not being recognized again.
After checking, the Compact Flash Card with 32Gb photos was damaged, but the more serious, the Mac book doesn't started again. The ram was also damaged.
Now I had to pay in order to restore my photos from CF, but my 15 years photos stored in the old mac and external memory are corrupted.
I have an external backup corrupted, a hard disk damaged and an old MacbookPro with corrupted information.
I decided to buy a new MACBOOKPRO but I am not sure how to proceed with corrupted files from Aperture. What do you recommend me??

    Photoboydc,
I regret to say that I don't have a fix for you and I'm sorry to say that you are indeed in a quite a rough spot. At the risk of Apple deleting this, thread, I wish to share with you that I experienced, more than once, the issue you are having. The first time it happened to me it nearly bankrupted my business with labor costs just to have my employees redo all the work of an entire wedding season; seriously, it nearly did. I was very vocal about this issue both on here and over at Aperture Users Network. In the end, there was not a viable fix or work around.
It is unfortunate to read your story as I was told from the folks over at the Aperture Users Network that Aperture update 2.1.3 was largely going to take care of such issues. As a matter of fact, I remember distinctly the release notes on the update stating bug fixes related to such issues you are having now.
Here is the thing: While any work you have done (adjustments etc.) may be lost, your master images are still able to be rescued if you are willing to start over. Go to: Aperture Library>right click>show package contents, from here you will see any and all projects you had in the library. From here you can, one at a time, move a project to the desktop, restart Aperture and see what happens. Rebuilding the database using this stepwise progression might lead you to some luck after all.
I must admit that I'm quite distressed about the future of Aperture. I would hate to see Aperture fall as I feel that it is a much better tool than Lightroom. Lightroom though, has an enormous following and user base which, in their numbers, has power to petition for change.
I really hope this helps Photoboydc, as I can only imagine the sinking feeling you are feeling in your stomach.
    Good luck,
    ChristopherDavid

  • Aperture, date and export/save on a HD

    Hi all !
I'm starting to get used to Aperture, but i can't do something i'd like to...
I want to shoot in RAW, adjust pictures on Aperture and then export them on my HD as a .jpg (cause it takes less space) to save them. The thing is that when i export them, it changed time and date of the originals (which is logic in a certain way...) but i want to keep an idea of when i took those pictures...
I don't know if i was clear enough but do you have any ideas ??
    Thanks !

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider  jpeg or other image files.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

  • Is anyone else having problems with Apertures Date fields?

After experiencing a sysems failure I began restoring my images from backups.  I have had no end of problems with Image dates.  I have come to the determination that Aperture is NOT using either the "Create Date" or "DateTimeOriginal" as the image "Date" or "Date Created" data if other fields have other dates.
Here is a clip from my image metadata using exiftool:
    Create Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
    Date/Time Original              : 2006:02:20 16:51:12.10
    Modify Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
And here is what Aperture utilized on import
    Date:                               9/23/12 7:53:15 PM EDT
    Date Created                         9/23/2012 7:53:15 PM
So Aperture utlized the File Modification Date/Time as the Create Date despite that the fact that the Create Date field is present and is properly formatted in the original image.
According to the Aperture mapping table, this shouldn't be happening.
Now, before someone recommends that I use Aperture's Date Adjust utility - I'm talking about  slightly over 30,000 images.  Editing images one at a time, or in blocks when you don't know what field Aperture is using as the Create Date would require individual inspection of each image followed by manual adjustment of each image.  That approach isn't acceptable.

Hmm ok, let me restate the issue then, I thought I was clear.  I could have pointed out in my original post however, that only the EXIF and IPTC date fields were displayed from the metadata dump.
The data set presented in my first post is the EXIF dataset from the file which clearly shows the image was captured by digital camera at
    Create Date                          : 2006:02:20 11:51:12.10
    Date/Time Original              : 2006:02:20 16:51:12.10
(The delta of 5 hours is the result of Zulu versus local time offset)
But, when I ingested it into Aperture, the import routine utilized the IPTC field
    File Modification Date/Time     : 2012:09:23 19:53:15-04:00
which is updated by the OS whenever you move the file around outside of Aperture. (a number of image data fields are updated by the OS - filename for example is another.).  This resulted in the image date fields being stamped in Aperture as:
    Date:                               9/23/12 7:53:15 PM EDT
    Date Created                         9/23/2012 7:53:15 PM
Which obviously came form the File Modification Date/Time field and not (either) the Create Date or Date/Time Original fields.

  • Iphoto 2 dates incorrect on photos

I've just discovered that iPhoto 2 is putting incorrect dates on my photos. Is there a way to correct that?
    iMac G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

iPhoto doesn't have anything to do with setting the
file dates on photos. The initially displayed date
in iPhoto is whatever the image file was "stamped"
with at its creation. If the dates are wrong, it
happened before iPhoto ever got the file.
So, your saying that the date happens in the camera? My digital camera is old and being held together with scotch tape. Might be time to get a new one or am I overlooking something here?

  • Post dates incorrect

The post dates in the SQL and PL/SQL forums are incorrect. New responses are not moving to the top. It looks like it got stuck on September 3rd. Let us see what happens in this forum. I am posting this at 05-Sep-2004, 1217 p.m. in California.

    Fredrik,
I am curious how you found this message, in order to respond to it. Did you have to page through the whole forum to get to the oldest dates or is there some shortcut that I am not aware of, such as a way to view in reverse date order? The only way I was able to respond to your message was through the link provided in the e-mail, as a result of having selected the option to watch the topic.
Unfortunately, this forum is the only way that we have of notifying OTN of the problem and I figured any new message would just go to the bottom, where they will never see it. So, on Sunday, I sent an e-mail to Oracle sales, informing them of the problem, and asking them to forward the message, or provide an alternate method of contact. I have not received a reply yet, but Monday was a holiday, so they may have not even seen the message yet.

    hello,

When i set to non automatic and reset to automatic, time comes incorrect...

I'm having a similar problem, except today is Friday, July 27, 2011 and my iPhone 3Gs thinks it's Friday, August 5, 2011.
Turned off the automatic timeset, then turned it back on.
Turned off the iPhone, then turned it back on.
    Resynched it.
And several varitions on the above.
    Nothing seems to work.
I'm actually vacationing in Europe now but am usually based in the US, so I'm not really sure if it's been this way for awhile or just since I upgraded my OS to 4.3.4. Hopefully it reverts when I return tomorrow...

There is a known issue with Xquery date and time where xf:current-dateTime() returns incorrect results.
In order to reproduce the problem you need to run the test at midnight GMT and 1AM GMT.
