Aperture Demo & 1.5.1 Update
Hello!
As soon as the demo was out I downloaded and installed it to my system. I was really curious to test it out. All went fine and the serial from Apple indentified my installation as a "Demo" version. However, because of the X11 Update I used Software Update and there was an Update to Aperture 1.5.1. I installed it and now the key for the demo version is no longer valid. Aperture wants a new serial number, because the demo key is said to be an "Update Key".
Do I have to reinstall the 1.5 demo or is there a way to get a recent demo key for testing from Apple?

As you did not backup your photos now at least copy the Aperture Library to an external device like a Hard drive or USB.
I don't know if Aperture 2 is still available for purchase, as Apple tends to discard older software so quickly.
Aperture 3 is now the latest,
Repost in the Aperture forum, for details on how you can best upgrade your Mac 10.6.8 OS to an Aperture version that will be able to rebuild your old library.

No Aperture is in the correct Applications folder and is named Aperture. I tried to redownload from the Aperture website but once I opened the .dmg file it said that my version needed to be updated via the App Store So I tried this and the App Store just states that I have Aperture Installed!
Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Aperture Freezes after 3.5 update after trying to share on Photostream
Trying to share photos after latest 3.5 update. App freezes and pictures appear in forefront regardless of the app I choose. Suggestions?

When will aperture 3.4.5 be updated?
Does anyone have an inking as to when will Aperture 3.4.5 be updated?
Only Apple knows, sorry. We don't know this in an User-to-User forum, and if knew, we would not be allowed to post it here.
But but since the IOS versions have added features that are incompatible with the current versions of IOS 7.0.2, at least incremental updates will be necessary for Aperture and iPhoto, to make the iCloud features work, that have been announced on Apple's iPhone 5S pages. -
I installed Aperture from the App Store, it was working ok, then suf=ddenly it wont load, I get the "Aperture encountered problem" message, have updated all OSX and Aperture but I still cant get it to work, any ideas ?

Aperture "no image found" after updating to 3.1.3.
This has been posted elsewhere with 60 some views with no responses and on here with almost 50 views with no responses. I will try rewording my question:
I have Aperture 3.1.3 (updated recently). I opened it and have a library displayed in the browser.
The library resides on an external drive along with 5 or 6 other ones (arranged by year).
I can look at my photos but can't edit or work with them because of the "no image found" message.
I am having no luck in reconnecting masters and also can't see the other libraries in the list of Aperture Libraries. I copied the 2011 library to my hard disk, but still can't reconnect masters.

Aperture 3.4 can't update library
I updated Aperture on my iMac and on my MacBook Pro (Both 10.8.2) to 3.4. After the update Aperture opens and says it needs to update my Library. While performing the lib update the process stops with the message: WARNING: There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/ApertureLib/Aperture Library.aplibrary”. The only option provided is "Quit" The same thing happened on both computers. I've tried launching with Cmd/Opt to rebuild and/or repair the libraries without any success. The repair/rebuild always crashes the app. When I launch with Opt key and try to create a new library, it fails to create one. I've tried reinstalling Aperture only to end up with the same results. I've done a permission repair and, of course, a reboot. Something is terribly wrong with Aperture 3.4.
John, if you already reinstalled and tried all repair options, we need more clues to what might be wrong in your case. Please post a crash report (the first 60 lines + the crashed thread) and any diagnostic messages relating to Aperture that you can see in the console window.

TS4471 Aperture will not open after update
After the last software update of Aperture I have not been able to open the program. I get a message that the program is unable to open because of a problem. I have tried to reinstall the program twice, but the problem persists. Anyone got a solution?

Aperture will not open after I updated. What do I do?
Mgoss, quit the installer or App Store/Software Update (depending on what you're using to update) and restart your machine. With Aperture closed, drag the Aperture application to the trash, then reinstall Aperture from your original media and, if necessary, update again.

Aperture 2: Smart Album not updating automatically?
I have a smart album based on non-existence of keywords in photos. In other words, I have an album full of images that do not have any of a set of 4 keywords specified. Works great, BUT, when I add keywords to photos from that set, the photos do not disappear from the smart album like they used to.
In fact, to get them to disappear I have to go to the magnifying glass of the smart album uncheck the Keywords checkbox and then recheck it, and only then will it update.
Am I missing something? Is it just a bug or is it a performance issue updating the smart ablum after every change? (I know that was impossibly slow in 1.x, but they seem to have fixed the meta data performance issues in 2.0.)I figured it out. The Aperture Smart Folder was actually being updated in iPhoto!
The story...
I recently upgraded to the new commonly shared Aperture \ iPhoto file format and imported all my iPhoto photos into my Aperture library.
Unknown to me, Aperture was saving changes made in Aperture to the old iPhoto file (package) -- with no notice, advisory, or infornation to this effect!
Mind-numbingly confusing, but once I deduced that my Aperture Library was now kinda fronting for some data stored in iPhoto, I could link to the Smart Folder stored there.
I intend to export the whole mess to an entirely new Aperture Library to be entirely (I hope!) in an Aperture environment.
If you lose information in Aperture, try looking in iPhoto! -

Aperture is repeatedly repairing its library
Upon the recent "update" from Apple concerning Aperture 3.4:
I installed the update on 9/20.
When I open my massive 1.16 TB Aperture library, I get this message:
Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library. Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems.
Click Repair.
Then this message:
Repairing Library: Examining Library
Then this message:
Repairing Library, 1% Complete
Since then, Aperture has been repairing my massive 1.16 TB library for ~ 5 hours until it gets to 77% and then "Aperture Not Responding".
I have to Force Quit.
Open Aperture again and then this message:
Restore Windows. The application "Aperture" was forced to quit while trying to restore its windows. Do you want to try to restore its windows again.
Click Restore Windows
Then this message:
Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library. Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems.
Click Repair.
Then this message:
Repairing Library: Examining Library
Then this message:
Repairing Library, 1% Complete
Then, the cycle begins again until it gets to 77% in about ~5 hours
Then "Aperture Not Responding".
I have to Force Quit.
And so on.
So, I deleted Aperture from hard drive
Install Aperture 3.0 from cd/dvd
Open Aperture...with new library. Fine.
Close Aperture.
Open Massive Aperture Library
Get this message:
Warning: The library in "Volumes/Libraries/ApertureLibrary.aplibrary" cannot be loaded because it is from a newer version of Aperture.
Select Quit
Close Aperture
Update Aperture to 3.4
Open Aperture with massive library
This message:
Aperture has detected inconsistencies in your library. Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems.
Click Repair.
Then this message:
Repairing Library: Examining Library
Then this message:
Repairing Library, 1% Complete

Of course I send the Report to Apple. Every time.
And so on and on and on and on. For FOUR DAYS already.
My Mac Pro has been a brick and unusable since it is hogging the cpu with this Aperture update.

This morning, ran the Repair Library from 8:00 a.m. until 11:56 a.m., when I force quit.
Rebooted computer.
Option + Command Click while opening Aperture.
Repair permissions.
Repairing Library, Database. That ran until 3:00 p.m. when it got to 77% again and we start the ground hog day all over.
Quit Aperture.
Option + Command Click while opening Aperture.
REBUILD Database, 3rd option.
3:11 p.m. 9720 versions restored.
4:19 p.m. 93000 versions restored
5:46 p.m. 169936 versions restored.
6:30 p.m., at time of this writing, it is still at 169936 versions restored.
When Force Quit, Aperture is NOT showing up as Not Responding. But...we aren't done yet either.
So, I have repaired permissions on my computer.
Re-installed Aperture from CD
Tried Time Machine
and rebuild library up the wa-zoo. To no avail.
I have removed the plist items from permissions.
Nothing so far has worked.
I'm sick and tired of spending the last 4 days rebuilding and not being able to use Aperture.
I am extremely disappointed.
And this nonsense happened in April as well.
I am an Aperture Certified Pro. Aperture 2, Level 1.
So sad...John, if you already reinstalled and tried all repair options, we need more clues to what might be wrong in your case. Please post a crash report (the first 60 lines + the crashed thread) and any diagnostic messages relating to Aperture that you can see in the console window.

Aperture 2.1.2 vault update error
ever since i have updated to this most recent release i can no longer update my vaults /___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png i have reformatted my drives just to make sure they have not been corrupted. i was able to get 1 clean vault update but that is it. just as some other aperture users experienced i too am getting on the splash screen, when A. is first launched a notice i have not yet backed up some files. well dah how can i if i get errors upon errors
i have searched through this forum and specific topic and have not found an answer yet. so perhaps an Aperture support person could take some time out of their busy day and help us all out in this most vexing and annoying matter.

Help! Aperture won't open after update to Yosemite and Aperture
It keeps telling me I have version 3.4.5 BUT i did the update and still doesn't open!!!
when I go to the app store it shows that Aperture download it done, it shows OPEN. I click on it and Nothing happened.
Please help me here!Version 3.4.5 will not work with Yosemite. How did you purchase it - via the app store or retail DVD?
Can you open your Applications folder in column or list view, highlight Aperture, and post back with the version please.
It has been updated and the app store had 3.5 (and now 3.6) available.

IDVD 7 (iLife 08) can't see movies in Movies folder
