Aperture, dual monitor, x800 card help

I am adding a 30" monitor to my current 20" monitor for a dual monitor setup. The x800 card has an ADC and a DVI port. I'm assuming only the DVI port is dual channel so I guess the 30" has to go there. My 20 inch is also a DVI hookup, do I just get an ADC to DVI converter?
Also do I slow things down at all now that the card has to control two big monitors? Can the x800 control these two monitors adequately, Aperture taxes the GPU a lot - will this slow down at all?
Also what happens with calibration? I have the GMB Eye-one. Do I calibrate each monitor separately or (if I recall) only calibrate the 30" and let the 20" stay uncalibrated for palettes and such.
-Thanks

similar setup here ...
the 30" is on the DVI port and the 23" is on the ADC using a belkin ADC to DVI connector ...
i calibrate using a spyder pro ... when i calibrate, i calibrate one monitor and save the profile with the size in the name - short term memory is very short ... the under displays->arrange i drag the menu bar to the other screen and it makes that the primary and i calibrate it - again with the size thingy ... i then switch the arrangement back and presto chango i have to rearrange most of my desktop icons - haha ... otherwise everythign is fantastic ... just make sure you turn on the monitors and let them warm up for an hour min - 2 is better for the 30" ...
so you leave one uncalibrated if youd like, as you create a profile for each ...
i have seen no slowdown since adding the 30" a few weeks ago ... and i work with 5D (~75%) and 20D RAW files ...

  • M91p dual monitor graphics card issue

    Hello,
My work recently purchased a Thinkcentre m91p - model number 7052C9U without realizing that it was not dual monitor capable.  We're a small business and have no IT division so it is up to me to solve this problem for myself.
Ive been doing some research via google but have not come to any real conclusion about which graphics card I should get that is compatible and will allow me to use 2 monitors.
Can anyone here direct me in this regard? Im looking for a quality yet inexpensive graphics card, compatible with my model of Thinkcentre, that will allow me to go dual monitor.
    Thank you in advance,
    Brian

I'm confused, it has 2 monitor ports, a VGA port and a DisplayPort.
If you are not using a DisplayPort capable monitor, which many are not, you do need an adapter for that port, ie. DisplayPort to DVI.

  • Huge Dual Monitor Problem :( Please Help !!!

Hey, i'm having issue with setting up the dual monitor connection.
I took a video so you can see what the problem is .. basically, when i move a window in the middle of both monitors, the window either goes to one monitor or the other one. here is the link .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIep7zYwi-o&feature=youtu.be
Now, i want it to be on both monitors at the same time so that i can have the window extended on both monitors; so that it will be visible on both monitors at the same time (Not mirror mode)
How do i do this ? I've see on youtube this being done .. check out here (skip to 4:37) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJldWNcQl7M

If you are running Mavericks, you probably want to un-check "Displays have separate Spaces" in System Preferences > Mission Control.

  • Aperture Dual monitors, what video card for AGP?

I am running two 20 inch apple monitors with the stock ATY 128 mb card. I am going to be upgrading the card soon because the system is so slow. I know that I am limited because this system can only use AGP cards.
What is the best AGP card available?
Also, will I notice a huge difference if I add even more ram?
    powermac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

That is probably enough RAM, if you aren't also running with Photoshop running all the time.
You should open Activity Monitor and keep an eye on the page outs under memory. If that number is growing rapidly, then you need more RAM. Otherwise, you don't.
The video card will make a very large difference -- if you can actually find it.

  • Dual Monitor video cards for HP Pro 3400

I am looking to add a 2nd monitor to my HP Pro 3400 MT and want to make sure I get a video card that will not have any compatibility issues.  I'm not doing any gaming so I don't think I need anything super fancy and I would prefer not to have to upgrade the power supply.
    So my questions are:
Is the HP Pro 3400 MT compatible witha PCI Express 3.0 card?  2.1 ?
How much power draw from the video card would require me to upgrade the power supply (my PC is stock, no added peripherals).  Is there a way for me to determine how much is being currently (no pun intended) drawn?
Are there any drawbacks to usnig the built-in video card for 1 monitor and a new, single-ouput card for the other (vs a dual-output card) ?
Anything else I need to consider when deciding on a new video card?
    Thanks.

  • Aperture Dual Monitor Color Profile Problem

I have 'discovered' an interesting problem when using my MBP with a Cintq tablet as a secondary monitor. The displayed colors agree very well in Aperture until I go to full screen and then the laptop monitor develops a greenish tint. I have tried all the different secondary display options, and in all cases where an image is displayed on both monitors the tint develops. It goes away as soon as full screen is exited. The Thunderbolt port is being used to feed the display to the Cintq (with a thunderbolt to DVI (?) adapter. I would guess that the laptop must grap the cintiq profile as soon as it goes to full screen.
In perusing the discussion group I see similar problems were reported in the past. It persists with the latewt MBP and thunderbolt, and latest build of Aperture.

I have no real answer except to say that on an older setup pre-Aperture I never did get the Cintiq 15 color well managed. I used the Cintiq mostly for palettes in Photoshop.

  • WIn 7 PRO to Win 7 PRO Remote Desktop with matching 1920x1080 Dual Monitors

I have done quite a bit of looking and still do not know if  WIn 7 PRO can connect to a to Win 7 PRO  with Remote Desktop with matching  1920x1080 Dual Monitors. It seems like it cannot use dual monitors by the HELP file.  But
then why does it have  "Use all of my monitors for the remote session" as a selection in the Connection settings ? Just what is the real answer ? Both systems are 64 bit.   If the answer is YES.   Please tell me how !

    Hello i-wonder-why,
To use this Remote Desktop Multimon feature, you must:
1.Connect using the Remote Desktop Client 7.0 (mstsc.exe) available initially on Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2.
2.Enable Multimon using one of the three methods described below:
    a. Click “Use all monitors for the remote session” in the client (mstsc.exe) window.
    b. Use the “/multimon” switch on the mstsc.exe command line.
    c. Add “Use Multimon:i:1” to the RDP file.

    3.Connect to a computer running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • Bridge CS3 & ACR with dual monitors

Question: In a dual-monitor Windows XP setup, how do I control which monitor ACR opens on when opened from Bridge?
Background: In my workflow, I use Bridge to open small batches of DNGs in ACR. What I want is to have Bridge on monitor #2 (uncalibrated), but have ACR open on monitor #1 (calibrated). At first I had Bridge opening on #1 and couldn't get ACR to open on #2. Then I figured out how to move ACR to #2, but now it always opens on #2, regardless of where Bridge is. How to fix?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Okay, I think I've figured out how this works, although (1) the way it appears to function is exactly opposite to how I think it should function, and (2) I still can't figure out how to fix it.
If I open ACR from Bridge on the primary monitor (#1 for short, as designated in Windows XP), ACR will open on the primary monitor by default. If I leave Bridge on the primary monitor but move ACR to the secondary monitor (#2 for short), ACR will continue to open on #2. If, however, I move Bridge to #2, there is no way to get ACR to open on #1; no matter what I do, it will always open on #2. If I then move Bridge back to #1, ACR might open on either monitor. If it continues then to open on #2 the only way to force it to move back to #1 is to open Photoshop on #1 and then open ACR from Photoshop.
First of all, it's stupid that I can't tell ACR to open wherever I want it to. But it is particularly stupid that one cannot make ACR open on #1 unless Bridge is also open on #1. The reason is that Windows XP only has native support for color calibration on the primary monitor (#1). If I'm using Bridge and ACR next to each other, I naturally care more about color calibration in ACR, where I'm actually editing photos, than I do in Bridge. Yet it is impossible to get ACR to open on the calibrated monitor! This can only be described as a bug, albeit one that won't get fixed due to the age of XP and CS3.
(Yes, I am aware that Microsoft makes a control-panel plugin that supposedly allows calibration of both monitors, but I have been unable to get it to work correctly. By all accounts it is somewhat fragile, doesn't offer support for all dual-monitor graphics cards, there isn't a list of cards it does and doesn't support, and Microsoft doesn't even offer support for the plugin. Way to go, Microsoft.)

Using this xorg.conf file, only my NEC LCD analog monitor could display KDE while the Samsung digital can't.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help guys, I'm halfway there.
The second monitor shows the KDE desktop, but it isn't exactly what I expected.  Right now, both monitors display at 1024x768 (each) or 2048x768 (total).  The larger monitor stretches and distorts the display of 1024x768 to its natural resolution at 1440x900 and it isn't what I wanted.  Other than that, the dual desktop setup behaves what I expected to.

  • HELP! I have a dual monitor setup and can't use any of them for video??

    1)I have a GeForce4 MX 64MB VRAM card installed.
    2) the back is dual monitor capable, meaning it has 2 vga (CRT) ports, one on the right and an another adapted plug with a vga port on the end. ( i have no idea which type it was originaly.)
    3) I have a big dell LCD
    THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:
the adapter plug ripped off, reveal copper thread things and is now unusable. Although saddened, I was not worried because I don't use a dual monitor anyway and I switched to the other port. BUT THE VIDEO DOESNT WORK ON THAT PORT. I can't figure it out it just doesnt load any video?
the truth is i would rather have a dvi cable set up because i assume its better.
    thank you for the help,
    I need it

  • Question about dual-monitor setup - advanced dock + PCIe card

I just got a Z60t at work. I had been using a dual monitor setup, but it doesn't look like my current config is going to fly w/ the new machine. Anyway, here's what I've got:
Primary monitor: Acer AL2416W (1920x1200 DVI)
Secondary monitor: Dell 1901FP (1280x1024 VGA)
I've read that the advanced dock might be able to let me use this setup with the Z60t if i put a PCIe video card in it. So here are my questions:
    1. Will the advanced dock + PCIe video card allow me to run the two monitors listed above (I don't use the laptop screen at all)?
    2. Which PCIe cards are compatible with the advanced dock?
    3. Can I achieve the same resolutions with the advanced dock + PCIe card?
    4. Will I need to split the VGA output, or can i use VGA + DVI like I do now (since the Z60t has no native DVI support)?
    thanks!

Gary -- don't turn on the OS Display Mirroring.  Turn it off.
You want Aperture to control how it uses your dual monitors.  (You do not want the OS to determine it.)
Once you've turned off the OS "Display Mirroring", the set-up I specified above should give you what you want.
    That set-up is:
    "View → Main Viewer → {anything}", and
"View → Secondary Viewer → Alternate"
You must have the Viewer active (not the Browser) in order to change the "Secondary Viewer" setting.  If you are in the Browser, activate the Viewer by double-clicking an Image.
Let me know if that doesn't work.

Edit:  I just saw a short list of window managers near the bottom of the Arch Multihead page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mu … _xorg.conf).  I don't see openbox on that list.  Does that mean I'm SOL if I want to use openbox with multiple monitors?  This page seems to imply that it should work fine with openbox http://magnatecha.com/dual-monitors-wit … nd-xrandr/.

I use XFCE, and when I boot my computer I just run:
    xrandr --output DVI-I-1 --auto --output DVI-I-2 --auto --left-of DVI-I-1
I'm assuming if you modify the names appropriately that it'll work too.  I have had issues before trying to run dual monitors without taking both outputs off of a single video card (which is what I'm doing now).  For example, I had a graphics card with one (VGA) output and a VGA output on my motherboard.  But, connecting the graphics card disabled the on-board VGA.  So it is possible (I'm not an expert here) that two displays coming off the motherboard may not work for hardware reasons.

  • DUAL MONITOR HELP!!!

    System Information:
    HP P6210Y
    Win 7
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100
Above is my system information. I'm running an HP P6210Y with a GeForce 9100 graphics card. I have two [2] Dell IN2030M monitors. I purchased a VGA Splitter and that worked, but now how I wanted it to work. I then bought a DVI-D to VGA adapter and the DVI plug doesn't seem to work. VGA monitor works. DVI doesn't. It's just a black screen I get. Both monitors work perfectly. Any idea what I can do to get dual monitors going? I'm new to this and I find myself wasting more money trying things my way. Any/All assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    This question was solved.

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6210y Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has integrated nVidia GeForce 9100 chipset graphics that support one VGA (analog) output and one DVI-D (digital only) output. There is no way to make a passive DVI-to-VGA adapter work. These adapters only work with DVI-A and DVI-I outputs. It would require an active DVI-D to VGA converter to change the digital signal into an analog one.
    The technical specs for your Dell IN2030M 20-inch Flat Panel Monitors indicate that they support both DVI-D and VGA inputs. To resolve your issue, you will need to purchase one DVI-D cable and connect as follows;
    Computer > DVI-D cable > Monitor #1
    Computer > VGA cable > Monitor #2

  • Would be grateful for help configuring my 7950gx2 for dual monitor

    Hi guys,
I have two monitors - one widescreen TFT 20" DVI (max 1680x1050), and one 17" TFT Analog (max 1280x1024).
Currently I'm running just on my widescreen monitor, but would love to have both monitors enabled to facilitate my spare-time web design.
I have an nVidia 7950GX2 - the card is essentially two 7900GT(X)s SLI'd together. So it is a multi-GPU card, rather than me having two separate graphics cards in my system.
I've followed the Arch Wiki info regarding nVidia drivers, and have the drivers operating perfectly right now. But no matter what I do, even if I follow the Gentoo Wiki info on dual monitors, I can't get both monitors to operate; it's either one or neither.
    Here's my current xorg.conf :

    When I change

    to
Option "MetaModes" "DFP: 1680x1050, CRT: 1280x1024"
I still only get my widescreen coming on.
    When I change
    Option "TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder" "DFP"
    Option "TwinViewXineramaInfoOrder" "DFP, CRT"
then only my widescreen comes on again. Swapping the arguments means only my small TFT comes on.
I'd be very grateful for help fixing this; I'm happy to follow any instructions you want, so I'll just be patient and wait for orders

I took the liberty to modify the relevant parts of the original xorg.conf file based on mine (I have a TwinView setup, but with identical monitors). Since bwalk has a similar setup to yours, you should try that first. If you still have problems for some reason, you can try the sections below.
I assume that the HorizSync and VertRefresh values are correct for your system, so I just used the original values as well (if you didn't set them, you might want to double check just to be sure). I commented out certain lines that seemed to be set by the program that created the config file, so if you need them, uncomment them...I just wanted to clean it up a bit. Again, understood that the CRT is on the left and the DFP is on the right, so that's how the MetaModes are declared. If it's the other way around, you will have to swap the value sets. I also assume that the DFP is your main monitor, so I set the CRT to NULL for any situation that requires it.
I'm not certain about the Screen section. Since so much info is declared above it, you might be able to eliminate the SubSection part, but I'm not sure. I hope you get it working.
