Aperture error message

My Lacie Thunderbolt drive is giving me the following message when I try to back up files.
New Vault Could Not be Created
The new vault could not be created because the file system of the destination volume is unsupported.

What's the file system of the drive? Libraries and vaults need to be on OS X Extended.

  • Help! Can't open Aperture: error message

After doing some work with a new printer (Epson Stylus Pro 3000) I restarted my Mac Quad Pro and attempted to open Aperture.
I got the error message: "There was an error opening the database for the library '~/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary.'"
I checked the disk on Disk Utility which informed me that the disk was corrupted and that I needed to repair it from the initial disk, (as well as Repair Permissions).
Any advice on how to proceed to get Aperture back?
Thank you very much, Susan Rennie

Did you perform the Disk Utility repairs? Did they complete successfully? If not you need to get that done first.
If so and you are still having problems opening Aperture you should do the Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
and let us know if that fixes your problem.

That isn't much to go on. Please provide more clues to your problem:
The exact error message and the first 50 lines of the error log,
The Aperture version, the version of your OS, the technical data of your machine,
any other information you might think helpful, like is it the first time, you tried to run aperture or was it running o.k. previously?
    Did you install anything previously?
Is Aperture the only application causing problem?

  • Error message exporting large picture file from Aperture 3.5

Recently I took a large panaramic comprised of 165 pictures using Gigapan Epic Pro and stitched together using software provided with Gigapan. I exported the stitched file into Aperture to perform final edits.  When I go to export the final version I keep getting an error message. The file size will be approximately 2.0 GB. I've been able to export a 0.7 GB file without problems (it did take several minutes). I have a late 2009 27" iMac with 3.3 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 16 GB memory. Any suggestions?  Not sure if this is an Aperture problem or if my system is not up to the task. Below is the error mesage I receive.  Thanks for your assistance.

    Testing: Exporting a large TIFF - the original is 24512 × 23016 (564,2 MP), 1.05 GB
The exported file that I am seeing on my Desktop after 10 minutes, is showing this in the Preview:
But after exporting there was no message at - neither an error message nor the usual alert when finished "Export 1 version completed - Reveal ...".
So, I am not yet conviced that the export went well, but Aperture can export gigantic TIFFs.
What is the file format you have been using? My test was done with TIFF, 16 bit.

  • Error message when uploading book for printing. All images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large to upload? What size is required and how do I reduce size in Aperture?

I receive an error message when I upload my book for printing. Not sure what the problem is. All my images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large as it takes about 15minutes to upload to Apple. How do I reduce the size of the image in Aperture?

    Hi Leonie,
    Thanks for your reply.
Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are  around 1-3 mb each and  72 ppi. I think  I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple  talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
    Error message
    1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
    2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
    3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.

  • SanDisk eject error message and improper upload of pictures Aperture 3

My Macbook Pro seems to corrupt or damage SanDisks.  I just uploaded a 16 GB disk which only uploaded about 30 out of 400 pictures into Aperture 3.  It was a new disk. At first it showed all the pictures and looked as if it downloaded.  When I ejected the disk, it gave the error message that I didn't eject it properly, which I did do carefully.  Now I cannot view any of the pictures on the disk but it shows I have used 12 out of the 16 GB.  I have tried numerous times to get it to upload the pictures and I see a brief image of the first picture then the space where the pictures are supposed to display, turns all gray.  I have had this issue with other disks as well and it seems to be a pattern.  Any ideas?  I also don't know how to determine what operating system I have.  Computer was purchased August 2011. Thank you.

  • Aperture help not working - getting JavaScript error message

My Aperture 3 has been having a lot of strange issues lately, most, but not all of which have been cleared up by holding down command + option while starting up and going through all three of the choices there.
One problem that remains is the inability to open the Help files. I keep getting the following message:
    “The Help Library requires JavaScript.
If JavaScript is not enabled, you will not
be able to view all the content.”
Help works in all other applications, like Pages and Final Cut Pro. I don’t get JavaScript error messages in any other applications.
I’ve already done an erase and restore from a Time Machine backup, and an archive and install. I reinstalled Aperture, although not by using the Terminal command suggested in the kbase article # HT3805.
If I go the Terminal command route, will I lose all my projects, albums, and editing? What about Mobile Me galleries?
I have a guest user on the computer, and when I log on to that user and open Aperture, the Help Library works fine. So, I know the problem is in my user account somewhere, but I don’t know how to address it. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.
The fact that you have access to java in another user suggests that it is a local setting or preference.
In the applications folder/utilities there is an application Java Preferences, try resetting this and seeing if it works.
If not, try deleting the java preferences file in your users folder
    systemHD/Users/user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.plist
relaunch the app Java Preferences which creates a new preferences file for you, then try Aperture again.
Let us know how this goes.

  • Error Message (Arrow and Exclaimation Mark in Yellow Triangle) Showing on Bottom Right of Some Photos after Merging iPhoto Library into Aperture

The strange thing is that some of these said photos with an error message have a normal thumbnail and can be opened fine, but the others (most of them) just have an empty space in the thumbnail as if the image can't be found.
I tried to Locate Referenced Files as Leonie suggested in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3686982?tstart=0 but got this message 'The Selection Doesn't Have Any Referenced Files', so i presume that's not the issue.
In the thread mentioned above, Leonie mentioned something about not emptying trash. I did empty my trash recently, and started to think these images may have been poor quality ones i previously deleted in the iPhoto library … but that still doesn't explain why the error currently appears on some images which seem to work fine (these images are ok quality ones and there is no way i would have deleted them in the past).
Also - the 'Processing' message at the bottom of the browser seems to be spinning endlessly. I just left it for over 10 hours overnight and it's still going. Could this be linked to these error images which it's having a hard time finding/loading?
Quite baffled at the moment, and would really appreciate any feedback. TIA.
    EDIT:
I just looked more closely. It appears that most of my folders have duplicates of the same image with exactly the same file name. And all the images with the error message have them on both duplicates (i.e. one on an image that has an empty thumbnail, and one on an image that's fine).
When i initially tried to import the library, it proceeded half way then failed. After opening the iPhoto library in Aperture first, and then doing the import again, everything worked fine. So, i'm wondering if the images with errors that are empty/blank may be the result of the failed 1st import.
What's puzzling is why they weren't overwritten (especially since all the file names are exactly the same). When importing the library, i chose 'merge' instead of 'add' when prompted, thinking that would solve it. Obviously not.
    EDIT 2:
After reflecting on this, i thought one solution may be to:
    a) Find all the error'd images that are empty/blank and delete them, and then
    b) Find and remove all duplicates
So i followed Leonie's suggestion to create a Smart Album and use the 'File Status is Missing' rule.
But now, i see that there are images that i imported into Aperture months ago that have the same problem. And the new thing is that there are duplicates with errors where *both* images are visible (whereas for the iPhoto library i just imported, there were dupes where one version was blank and the other was visible and seemingly ok).
I'm really hoping there is a simple solution to this, and am awaiting some feedback before i try anything else.
NB. This is a super large (over 100GB) Aperture library that i am trying to consolidate everything into. It is Work In Progress and i was only going to back it up once the import of various iPhoto libraries was done. However, I'm wondering if it's better to just back up first - but if i do it now, the backup will include all these errors and duplicates. What would you guys do?

    UPDATE 2:
The users in these 2 threads seem to have a similar File Status Not Found issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4086569?tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/17757686#17757686
Followed Leonie's advice to look for the (missing) masters inside the Masters folder, and indeed, they were missing. So, that confirms the reason for the error message.
If this does not work, because you have managed originals, inside the Aperture Library, look for your originals in the Aperture Library Package. Select the Library in the Finder and ctrl-click, then select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up. In the Finder window that opens, navigate to the folder "Masters". Your missing images should be inside; the folder is structured by date of import.
Of course, the question is - why the masters for these few images are missing, when the other images in the same project that were imported/merged at the same time are fine.
Trying to do the library import/merge from iPhoto into Aperture again. Fingers crossed. Will report back on the result.

  • Error opening the database for the library "~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary" error message

When starting up Aperature 3 I get the following Error Message :
"There was an error opening the database for the library “~/Pictures/Aperture Trial Library.aplibrary”.
I can't di a thing except Quit. I have restored from Time Machine and reloaded the Software from Disk. Still get the same message. Any suggestions Are appreciated.
    Jim

    Hello Jim,
I assume you trial Aperture Library is in your "Pictures" folder? Try to rename it to something like "OldApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary", to force Aperture to create a new Application Library.
To rename the old Trial Library, select it in the Finder and enter Command(⌘)-I (short for File-> Get Info). Click on the file name text field and enter a new name.
Possibly you get this error message message, because there is some permissions problem. If you are not allowed to rename the file, click on the padlock in the lower right corner, authentificate as admin and give yourself read/write access to the trial library (in the "Sharing & Permissions" brick of the "Get Info" panel).
Post back, if your "ApertureTrialLibrary.aplibrary" contains valuable images that you would like to save or if this does not work and you need further advice.
    Regards

  • Error Message - "Aperture cannot access this library"

I'm using OS 10.5.7 and Aperture 2.1.3. I recently had an error message pop-up when I try to start Aperture that says, "Aperture cannot access this library. To use this library, make sure its file permissions are set correctly." Unfortunately, I can't seem to open up my library. Any ideas how to fix this or what is wrong? Thanks

    Hello,
attached I would like to report how the problem solved.
    1. I had 63 Minute Call to Apple Support and we are tring some things. Finally I Spend spend 1 day for testing.
    2. Testing procedure:
    A) I exported each project step by step
    B) Than I deleted all appr. 50 projects in Aperture Library.
    C) After that I Imported each project to Aperture back.
Result: 2 Project was corrupted, one of it was going well after export/import procedure how ever but the second ones error was constant appearing if I try to import it. The project consisting of 512 jpg files in total appr. 500MB.
    The solution for this project:
I moved this jpg´s to waste bin und imported it from waste bin to Aperture again into a new project. Than I tested it again(Export/import) and it was fine.
For final check I delete my Aperture backup und start a new one.
Than start a compleate restoring from that last backup.
Every thing was fine, all project include albums or books are ok.
The pictures in the corrupted project was not imported by Aperture, they was created on a PC system(XP). Maybe that was the reason for the problem.
A friend sad, that windows use not the agreed standard for jpg´s.
I don´t know. So I´m happy all my books are back that is imported for a wedding photographer.
    Have fun

    Alex,
did you just upgrade from an Aperture 3.2.x version to Aperture 3.3.1? This error message usually occures after the upgrade to 3.3.1, when Aperture cannont convert the library format to 3.3. format.
I'd try to repair the Aperture Library (Mediathek), before upgrading it. Hold down the option-command key combination (⌥⌘) while double-clicking Aperture. This will bring the "Aperture Library First Aid Tools" panel forward. Select "Rebuild Database" and see, if it will resolve the the problem.
    Good luck

  • Aperture not compable with macOS error message

i loaded up aperture onto my apple mac with os x 10.6 and the error message i get when i try to click it on is that it is not compatible with this program.

In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync

  • Get an error message when importing from iPhoto says, "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need at least 44GB of free space."

I get an error message when importing from iPhoto that says, "There is not enough free space on your Aperture Library volume to import the selected items. It is estimated that you need at least 44GB of free space." the drive is empty, I just reformatted it to Mac OSX journaled.

I'm guessing this is an extrenal drive, correct? If so make sure the library you're importimng into is really located on the external drive. By default Aperture creates its library in your home pictures folder.

  • Successfully upgraded to 3.3 Unable to backup to external hard drive. Aperture closes unexpectedly without error message.

Upgrade to 3.3 was successful. My library is stored on an external hard drive and I have vaults stored on different hard drives. Aperture seems to be functiong OK but I am unable to backup to my external hard drives. The application seems to go through the process of upgrading the library again and quits unexpectedly at step seven without an error message. Anyone come up with a work around before Apple sorts this bug out?

What do you mean when you say "unable to backup to my external drives"?  Are you updating your Vaults?  If so, are you able to create a new Vault?  If you are, create them and confirm that they work.  If they work, delete the old Vaults and keep the new ones.
