Aperture File System and Other "Features"

I am currently researching how well Aperture fits into the HDR workflow since it seems to pack all image files into its own filesystem or library where the individual files lose their identity and accessibility through the Mac filesystem. I don't know this to necessarily be true, but right now I believe it to be. If so, I believe it rules-out Aperture for my serious use. There are many things I like about it, but I need to be able to easily bounce image files around to many different applications and the Aperture interface/filesystem seems to make the task too cumbersome. Also, from reading this forum I believe that when you import RAW files into Aperture they are automatically manipulated. Something I need to understand more about also. Finally, I like to be in charge of when I save a change I've made to an image and not have it done for me.

Not necessarily. You can run the library in Referenced mode.
but I need to be able to easily bounce image files around to many different applications
Depending on your intended use, the Aperture library is available in every Open... dialogue in the OS.

Absolutely untrue.

  • Shared file system and other questions

    Hi,
Is shared file system common for all WL in the cluster or each WL has its
              own one.
Next questin is connected with proxy server.
I'm not sure if there should be one proxy server for two servers working in
one cluster or each server should has own proxy server (I mean WL proxy
              server).???
In my opinion there should be one proxy server which redirect requests to
server in cluster using some balancing method. But when I read documentation
about cluster's architectures I saw the picture where each WL cluster server
had proxy own server. I'm not sure if this picture showed only outline of
architecture or it was real solution???
Is it better to install another proxy server (for example Apache) than WL
              proxy server?
In previous questions I asked if it is possible to replic static classes,
fields etc. Prasad Peddada told that it is not replicated. But I wonder if
there exists some method to force replicating it.? Maybe we can implement
              some method and run it?
              Thanks,
              Best regards,
              Robert

    Mike.
In WLS51 cluster, it is better to specify different workingDir for each
server. You can create a weblogic.properties in your per-server directory
and add jspc properties in that file.

I'm getting this error and is there any way to resolve this without re-creating the service/s again, etc. Just curious if there are any suggestions/steps I may have missed, if not, I'll drop and recreate the services again
Anyway, I have a backup of the emkey.ora and put it in the sysman/config directory, but still doesn't work... please see below...

  • OES11 SP2 - Linux File System and NSS Pools & Volumes

Planning to install our first OES11 SP2 server into an existing tree - the
idea is to run this new OES11 server virtualized on VMware ESXi 5.5
The existing tree has two physical NW6.5SP8 servers running eDirectory
Version 8.7.3.10b (NDS Version 10554.64). One of the existing Netware
servers is used for DHCP/DNS, File Sharing from three NSS volumes and
Groupwise 7.0.4 whilst the second server is used for FTP services and
eDirectory redundancy. Ultimately the plan is to have two virtualized OES11
SP2 server with one for file sharing and the other for making the move from
GW7 to GW2012. And we're planning to stick with NSS for file sharing on the
    new OES11 SP2 server.
I've come across a couple of posts for earlier versions of OES which
recommended not to put the Linux Native OS File System and NSS storage
pools/volumes on the same hard drive. Apparently the advice was a result of
needing to allow EVMS to manage the drive which could be problemmatic.
I've read the OES11 documentation which says that "The Enterprise Volume
Management System (EVMS) has been deprecated in SLES 11, and is also
deprecated in OES 11. Novell Linux Volume Manager (NLVM) replaces EVMS for
managing NetWare partitions under Novell Storage Services (NSS) pools."
So I'm wondering if there is still a compelling requirement to keep the
Linux Native File System and NSS pools/volumes on separate hard drives or
can they both now safely co-exist on the same drive without causing
headaches or gotchas for the future?
    Neil

    Hi Willem,
Many thanks for the further reply.
So we can just use the VMWare setup to "split" the one physical drive into
two virtual drives (one for the OS and the second for the pools).
And I've seen posts in other forums about the need for a decent battery
backed cache module for the P410i controller so I'll make sure we get one
    (probably 512Mb module + battery).
Can I ask what is the advantage of configuring each VM's virtual disk to run
on it's own virtual SCSI adapter (by setting disk1 to scsi 0:0, disk2 to
    scsi 1:0, and so on)?
    Cheers,
    Neil

i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.

The only "content aware" feature in CS5 is the fill, so you are not missing anything with the updates because nothing more is there. And I honestly don't know what you mean by "Adobe watermarks" there is no such thing, but there is a series of scripts for such stuff.

  • SCCM 2012 - Question before deployment (WSUS/SCUP and other feature).

    Hello,
Sorry for the question but I'm a newbie about Microsoft SCCM architecture...
I have to deploy a new WSUS (4.0) server for my new servers (Windows 2012) and I ask myself how I can install him correctly with idea of a futur SSCM system.
About WSUS, this  server is only for the new servers (Windows 2012) which can not receive update by our current WSUS server (Windows 2003 WSUS 3.0 SP1). I think I need also upgrade my AD schema to the 2012 level before ?
And from what I understood of SSCM especially for software management (deploy and updates), there is a specific role "Software Update Point" which uses WSUS for Microsoft Product and SCUP for the third party tools.
I am wondering which server configuration is the best for my future SSCM architecture.
Firstly, can I setup my WSUS to a new server and add the role "SSCM - Software Update Point" on the same server later ? If it's possible, what type of server is recommended ?
Just for the WSUS feature I had expected a VM with a dual core CPU, 4GB RAM, 40GB for the system and 100GB only for the update data (a total of 250 servers and clients which can use 2003,2008,2012,XP,7,Office2010,Exchange 2010).
Regarding SSCM in general, Is it recommended to have multiple server for SSCM for a total of 100 servers and 150 clients ? If yes can we separate them by role ?
I think I will have another questions later but it's a good start.
Thanks in advance for your good advice !
    Have a nice day,
    Clement

    Hi,
Thanks for your advice, I have many questions because I did not want setup an SSCM now but it seems it's the better solution (my first need is to deploy MS update on my new servers).
If I install my WSUS service on my server I could not reuse it directly for my SSCM (because I must start with a fresh installation of WSUS?).
Regarding the hardware,  I thinks that minimum requirements isn't a good idee (see bellow).
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx#BKMK_MinHWReqs that
    Hardware component
    Requirement

Minimum: AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon 64, Intel Xeon with Intel EM64T support, Intel Pentium IV with EM64T support
    Minimum: 1.4 GHz
    RAM
    Minimum: 2 GB
    Free disk space
    Available: 10 GB
    Total: 50 GB
Do you believe that an dual core with 4GB is correct ?
And for the disk at least 100GB just for the WSUS and 200GB for the storage of system image and package deployment (third party tools) ?

I thinks if we deploy an SSCM, we will use it for the deployment of system (clients), applications (Office, third party tools), updates (MS and third party tools) but also for the managing of our infrastructure (SSCM seems very powerfull).

  • FIX ADOBE SEND NOTIFICATIONS AND OTHER FEATURES

I would love for us to select which notifications do we want when we use the adobe send product. In the previous version (sendnow) we used to receive notifications when the file was actually sent out, and downloaded. In this version we only receive when the file is downloaded which is terrible. Moreover, it would be great to have a CC option in an email too. Lastly, I cannot view my history of files that I have sent but instead I just see a history of files available but no record on what that file is associated with, etc.. TERRIBLE. Please fix these things in the future release.

  • Image: display from local drive, upload to server file system, and display from server

    Hello,
    I am using jdev 11.1.2.4.0...
The requirement is that users would like to upload images from their local drive to server drive and they would like display images from server drive later.
We don't want to keep images in database. I am not sure what the solution should be; however, I plan to ....
    1. create a table to keep an information of images -- image_id, image_location (server drive), image_filename
    2. create a page where users can enter image information and specific filename from a local drive (I think I will use inputFile component) and provide the preview button to display an image on screen before save it. To save data is to save information to the database and copy an image file to the server drive (the destination location for image files is predefined.)
    3. create another page where users can browse information from the database and display an image for a selected record by getting from the server.
    I need suggestions on...
    1. how to display an image on page from the local drive?
    2. how to copy a file from a local drive to a server?
    3. how to display an image on page from the server drive?
    Thank you.

Where Timo saves images to the database, you save it to the file system (examples on how to do this from Java are available plenty if you just Google for it). Similar to Timo you then use the image tag to display images. The difference is that you can directly add the URL from the database table.
The benefit of using a database to host images is that you are not dependent on file server structures though

  • BIP and Siebel server - file system and load balancing question

    1. I just need to understand whenever the reports are generated through BIP, are there reports stored on some local directory (say Reports) on the BIP server or Siebel File system? If on a File system how will archiving policy be implemented.
    2. When we talk of load balancing BIP Server. Can the common load balancer be used for BIP and Siebel servers?

  • File system and LR2 file system view summary

    Hello,
Is there a way when navigating a directory via the Folders panel to click on the folder and get summary information about the contents of the folder both from a file system perspective as well as a Lightroom perspective?
file system perspective: number of physical files supported by LR2 in the folder
LR2 perspective: the number of files that have virtual copies, how many total virtual copies total, how many photos are in stacks, how many stacks, etc.

No, you can't specify an entire filesystem as something to cluster. I
suggest using NFS or some shared filesystem and then running a cluster
              off of that.

  • Backup to file system and sbt_tape at the same time?

    hello!
is it possible to do a rman backup to disk and sbt_tape at the same time (just one backup, not two)? the reason is, that i want to copy the rman backup files from the local file system via robocopy to another server (in a different building), so that i can use them for fast restores in the case of a crash.
if not, what is the recommended strategy in this case? backups should be available on tape AND the file system of a different machine.
environment: oracle 10g, windows server 2008, commvault for backup on tape
    thanks for your advice.
    best regards,
    christian

If you manually copy backupsets out of the FRA to another location, but still accessible as "local disks", you can use the CATALOG command in RMAN to "catalog" the copies.
Thus, if you opy or move files from the FRA to /mybackups/MYDB, you would use
"CATALOG START WITH /mybackups/MYDB" or individually "CATALOG BACKUPPIECE /mybackups/MYDB/backuppiece_1" etc
Once you have moved or removed the backupsets out of the FRA, you must use
    "CROSSCHECK BACKUP"
    and
    "DELETE EXPIRED BACKUP"
to update the RMAN repository. Else, Oracle will continue to "account" for disks pace consumed by the BackupPieces in V$FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA_USAGE and will soon "run out of space".
You would do the same for ArchiveLogs (CROSSCHECK ARCHIVELOG ALL; DELETE EXPIRED ARCHIVELOG ALL) if your ArchiveLogs go to the FRA as USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST

  • Cluster file system and BDB - does it work ?

    Hi,
I've read in the reference guide that:
" No commercial remote filesystem of which we're aware supports
coherent, distributed shared memory for remote-mounted files"
What about cluster file systems like veritas cluster file system ?
Can I use this file system with BDB ?
I'm trying to find a solution for having one database visible from two computers.
Reader and writer exist on each machine. Any clue how to do that ?
    best regards

  • File systems and fragmentation

I'm a converted ubuntu user, and I love arch to death now... but here's my question.
When I was using ubuntu I read a post on lifehacker.com that said
Defrag – Nope. Linux file systems do not have a need to be defragmented.
    Original link: http://lifehacker.com/5817282/what-kind … y-linux-pc
Since I've always used ext4 and I still can't find anything on needing to defrag an ext3 or ext4 filesystem I assume it still holds true. However, I was reacently read this article on the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … filesystem
and decided to try out XFS on my /home partition. So i checked out the XFS page. all it has is a small section of fragmentation and how to defrag it and check how fragmented it is.
I also remember seeing somewhere on the wiki (although I can't remember where) that JFS also needed it as well (might not have been JFS not entirely sure).
So is this something I should worry about as I used to on windows? Are ext3 and ext4 really immune as they seem to be? And what are your recommendations on file systems to use?

Zarcjap wrote:And what are your recommendations on file systems to use?
If you're asking which FS you should use, there are already a few threads about this e.g. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=135330
It depends on what are you going to use it for.
