Aperture Graphics and Brushes issue

I've been having a lot of trouble with (what seems like) my graphics using aperture 3.2.1.
Firstly, when applying brushes and zoomed, my graphics go crazy with horizontal and vertical lines. (See screenshot):
Secondly, when resizing a brush, the brush size jumps from small to very big with no middle size, even though the slider is moving. It's like the data for those sizes is missing somehow.
1-I've done all troubleshooting steps including rebuilding my library
2-I tested my library in a different user (same issue)
3-I exported a few and tried it on a different mac (it works fine!)
4-I uninstalled and reinstalled aperture completely (still no dice)
I'm also wondering if this could be a hardware issue with my graphics card (although I doubt it because the graphics only go crazy INSIDE the aperture window)
I'm going to try to do a clean install of my OS but I'm wondering if other people have had this issue. Any suggestions?

Same thing here. It only happens when using brushes while zoomed in. Funny thing is it just started doing it out of the blue about 3 days ago .. no new software install, no new updates and I work completely off external drives so it's not like I've had any major changes. It's rather annoying though

  • Yosemite graphics and sound issues

    this is my computer:
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)
Processor 2 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
i have been dealing with a very inconsistent problem since i've downloaded yosemite.
I'll start with the one consistency.
my computer no longer chimes at start up.  Thought it was a hardware problem.  I have run an AHT to no avail.  no problems detected.  although it may be an issue with the lack of RAM seeing as 'the internet' recommends at least 8GB for Yosemite.
itunes takes approx. 10 minutes to open.  (also may be a RAM problem to this is regardless of whether anything else is running)
    as does iphoto
    Now the inconsistent stuff:
the computer crashes when dealing with any time of image files may it be picture or video.
most of the time the computer will have some trouble playing video files and at times the whole computer will crash very spontaneously.  I have updated the flashplayer as well as my media player of choice VLC.  I do have stints when VLC will work just fine for several films but then will randomly crash.   When the computer crashes it will go into a start up loop of the gray apple screen to a blank gray screen which will then crash and restart again and again.
I can't, for some reason, never get the recovery mode to work. Command R takes an eternity and then goes to gray screen.  Command D shows no problems.
I have reset the PRAM and SMC which at times works and at times doesn't in my quest to get past the gray blank screen.
after the computer has started up in my juggling act there is a graphics problem note.
youtube on safari is very glitchy.  the glitchiness sort of began with Chrome so deleted it and started to use Safari sometimes no sound.  sometimes the video lags.  i have to move the scroll around a bit for it to work.  once it gets the hang of it its fine though...
when the computer comes out of sleep it may take 30 seconds when i haven't used it for a while which i understand is a hardware sleep thing.  i have heard stories of the black screen and functioning mouce and this happens here quite a bit.  from 5 to 30 second of time.  the main interesting point is that it at times starts up ok and at times will give me a very glitched out login screen, yet the login panel itself is fine.
i have been thinking about downgrading to maverick again or even lion for the sake of installing a new operating system and to deal with the RAM but i think there is a collection of minor problems and i don't really know what i'm doing completely.  I will buy more RAM if this issues is salvageable.  all in all i'm one those OMG my computer ***** now that i've downloaded yosemite people.
can someone please point me in a self suffiecent direction? are there any diagnostics i'm not looking into?   is my computer just too old for Yosemite? am I doomed to pay some mac wiz a ton of money? can all this just be a clunky OS and too little RAM?
i hope this helps other people and thanks for anything you have to add.

Also when I do a command R reboot, the computer freezes on the gray screen with the fan running vigorously. I have to shut it down by hand to do anything.

  • Weird graphics and other issues with internet explorer in all versions.

One of our laptops has an issue with their Internet Explorer. First, whenever the user logs on and starts internet explorer and navigates to any website, the website loads for a bit but then immediately displays a "Page cannot be displayed" error.
Every single time. If we try browsing again/refreshing the page it loads fine. But during regular browsing, we might get that page again.
Another issue that happens is sometimes the graphics logos won't load properly. See screenshot:
    http://i.imgur.com/0usOPpu.jpg
And this happens a lot. If this won't happen, the websites will only load with half its formatting missing.
    Now we have:
-Thoroughly checked computer for viruses. Several full scans have been done with MalwareBytes with no issues found. Microsoft Security Essentials has been installed, full scan done, no viruses/spyware/adware found.
-We have tried upgrading to IE11. Same issue. Downgraded to IE10. Same issue. Downgraded to IE9, same issue yet again. IE was Reset each time.
We checked if it could be a network issue, but none of the other computers connected to the same switch has issue like that.
    Any suggestions/ideas to try?

    Hi,
I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall, then check the result.
You may try the steps from the links below to check the issue:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956196/en-us
Internet Explorer "Page Cannot be Displayed" error due to Bad Proxy Server Timeout
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2551554
You may also refer to the computer or device manufacturer website and try installing the latest version of chipset, graphics card and video card drivers and check.
    Hope it helps.

  • Aperture Noise and processing issues

So I've finally got down to processing the same Raw file of a Canon 1Ds and exporting it from Aperture as a .psd. I've taken the same raw processed in PhotoshopCS2 and saved as a .tif.
The shot is over a creek just after a snow. Gray water and trees covered with snow. I have to say, there is such an obvious inferior difference with Aperture full of color noise, color moire, even the image definition is worse. The photosho image is soooo much better that I must be doing something wrong, but I've been preparing images for prepress now for many years. The noise in the water is unacceptable. I could not turn this image in. I will have to do some other tests, but this really surprises me.

I saw this post in another thread as well, and trust me I am not trying to get an argument started. I only want information. I read reviews for all sorts of gear and sw, and sometimes I never see the same issues everyone else is seeing due to my experience or knowledge. So, I went to the ARS site, downloaded each set of files that was shot with the Nikon (not Canon since I don't own a Canon) and reviewed them to see if I could see the issues.
    Cat Photo
The Capture One image seems to have the least noise. Just at first glance, it seems to be the most appealing. It is softer, but less noisy than either ACR or Aperture.
Aperture and ACR seem to have equal noise, although the Aperture noise is different, seeming to have a bit of color (green) to it. But they seem close to me.
the Aperture image seems harsh in that is has edge enhancement or too much sharpening.
    Football Image
Again, the C1 image has the least noise and looks the "best" to me. There is still a great deal of noise in the black sky, but less than either of the other two.
Once again, the Aperture image, if zoomed into the QBs head, has noise that has green color to it.
Looking at ACR and Aperture side by side, ACR looks better to me, but it seems to be a color issue as well, so some of that might be correctable.
    Dog Image
To be perfectly honest, I saw no real differences in these images.
So the post said they were much worse, and from what I see, I don't see the dramatic differences that everyone is talking about. I see almost as much difference between C1 and ACR as the others.
I am not looking to get flamed, but I would like to know what others are considering dramtic flaws so I can get a better idea of what I am not seeing. I am not saying that is not the case, only that my less expereiced eye doesn't see it.
I am not a pro photographer, so I probably am missing something. But since there is a site that has some images we can all use for comparison, why not some objective talk about those images? It is easy to post "My images look horrible with Aperture but great with ACR" but lets use these images to point out to the lesser of us exactly what we are talking about.
And really, lets try to avoid 300% crops to prove the point.

  • Aperture 2 and Printing Issue (HP B9180)

I have upgraded to Aperture 2. The print settings dialoge box for the printer will not allow me to change the PaperType/quality or adjust any settings. All of the configuration settings are empty. I have the current printer driver; it prints fine from Photoshop CS3.

I found out that there is an firmware update for the printer dated 1/15/08. The firmware update is for printers whose firmware ends in 21A, 24A, 25A or 26B. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-57843-1 &lc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=1142684&dlc=en
The firmware is updated to a version ending in 27A. (Oddly, the update can only be installed using a USB connection between the printer and computer).
When this didn't bring back access to Paper Type/Quality etc., I phoned HP. Here is the fix:
Trash CUPS folder in Hard Disk>Library>Printers>HP
    Empty trash
    Reinstall Driver: HPB9180_Installer10.3-10.4-10.5.dmg
Then reinstall Patch: HP v. 9.7 inkjet OSX 10.5 Update
Add B9180 in System Preferences>Print and Fax

  • Front Row Graphics and Pointer issues

    Greetings Everyone,
I've noticed graphical glitches (visible white lines) in Front Row which seem to outline main categories and sub categories. It's very inconsistent as some disappear after selecting category with arrow keys. Additionally, after exiting Front Row, my mouse pointer disappears and requires for me to move mouse for 3-4 seconds before re-appearing. Any input or similar symptoms would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Ann,
You can open Disk Utility which is located in the Utilities folder in Applications and verify/repair your disk. It may also be helpful to repair Disk Permissions of Macintosh HD. After you do that, I suggest restarting to make sure that your iMac is running at its best performance.
    I hope this helps you!

  • Pixelated Graphics and Sound Issue (Gt70 2pc dominator gtx 870m)

    Sup.
Bought my first MSI gaming notebook a couple days ago. It's fairly nice but it seems I'm having a couple issues.
    First:
Sound issue. I have a Turtlebeach Z22 headset. When using it on my MSI laptop I get a series of pops every couple words.    The Z22 uses both usb and aux for the mic/headphones and I have tried everything from swithcing jacks, usb ports, updating drivers and playing around with realtek settings. No dice.
Second: For some reason in game cutscenes have a lot of pixelation.
I have tried crysis 2 and farcry 3 so far on max settings. Any sort of cutscene that uses a video clip (like Farcry's video tutorials) has a lot of pixelation and is sometimes fuzzy. The games are usually fine for the most part. I have updated my gfx drivers played with gfx setting and set launching options to Nvidia as global.
    Any ideas?

Do you mean the pop sound? It would be better if you can share a video or sound record of the situation.

Quiet manay people talk about the issue, try to change the game setting to improve the situation.

  • Unrecognized Graphics and Resolution

I installed some Steam games and BF3 onto my recently bootcamped iMac and the games tell me that my video card is inadequate. I flew over to CanYouRunIt? and everything checks out except for my "Dedicated Video Ram" which apparently I have 0.
I also can't get the right screen resolution for my 21.5" iMac. The maximum available resolution is 1440 x 1050 while my screen is 1920 x 1080.
My computer's specs are as follows:
    3.60 GHz Intel Core i5
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5670 512 MB Graphics Card
When looking through my System Info for my graphics, much of the information is "not available". My guess is the drivers are out of whack but even after updating those, nothing changes.

Resolution, Graphics, and Audio issues have been resolved. Here's what I did:
    GRAPHICS SOLUTION (by ineidzcode)
    Uninstall Old Drivers using CCleaner
    Download CCleaner
    Shutdown ALL Catalyst Processes
    Right click on toolbar
    Click "Start Task Manager"
Drag open the "Description Pane" to easily identify any Catalyst processes running
Right click all Catalyst processes and click "End Process"
    Run CCleaner
    Select Tools
    Uninstall tab
    Uninstall "AMD Catalyst Installer Manager"
Delete AMD/ATI FoldersMy Computer -> C: (windows install) -> Delete any AMD/ATI folders that relate to your display drivers...->Program Files (x86) -> Delete any AMD/ATI folders that relate to your display drivers
    Remove current drivers
    Control Panel -> Device Manager
    Open "Display Adapters"
Right click on "AMD Radeon HD * (Your Card)windows did not recognize my graphics card at this point so follow the steps and select "Standard VGA Adapter"
    Click "Uninstall"
    Then
    Restart your computer
    Install Beta Catalyst Drivers
    Download Beta Drivers
    Open Download folder
    Double click "amd_catalyst_12.1_preview_windows_vista_7.exe  "
    Walk through install wizard
    Restart your computer
When you boot into Windows your resolution should be the immediate change (from your previous setting to the monitor's native resolution. Mine was 1440x1050 and changed to 1920x1080.
Try booting up a game and everything should be fine. The guide above was originally published by a SWTOR forum user "ineidzcode" (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=105045).
IF YOU'RE EXPERIENCING LOW FPS... (once again from ineidzcode)
I didn't have to do this on my 2011 21.5" iMac.

*These downloads are for my setup.  Radeon HD 6770M on Windows 7 64 bit.  To find your downloads, visit here. First install is your setup using MAC Graphics as a system (Step 1) and Boot Camp as a product (Step 2) followed by your card specifics. Second download is your selection as if you were on a native PC with Windows.
After you have downloaded the drivers you need, follow these instructions:
    Uninstall drivers Boot Camp installed
    Control Panel -> Device Manager
    Drop down "Display Adapters"
Right click "AMD Radeon HD 6770M" (or your AMD card) and select "Uninstall".
    Restart
    Install Boot Camp Display Drivers
Unzip your Boot Camp Display Drivers
    Control Panel -> Device Manager
    Drop down "Display Adapters"
Right click "VGA Adapater" (adapter name may vary)
    Select "Update Driver Software"
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Navigate to your unzipped folder of the Boot Camp Display Drivers (my location was: Downloads\8.812-110104a-112011C-Apple.4-Win7Vista\8.812-110104a-112011C-Apple.4 -Win7Vista
Make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and hit Next
After Windows finishes the install, restart your computer (if it doesn't ask).
    Install Catalyst Mobility
Simply install the "Catalyst Mobility Suite" (the latest drivers released from AMD, Download 2) and you should no longer get the error you were seeing before.
    AUDIO FIX
I experienced zero audio output from my iMac's speakers with limited output using headphones.
Insert the installer disc for Snow Leopard while in Windows
    Open the "Bootcamp" folder
    Open the "Drivers" folder
    Open the "Cirrus" folder
Double click and install the "CirrusAudioVista64" driver (or what is applicable to your system)
    Restart your computer
If these steps don't work, uninstall the current driver by going to your Device Manager in Control Panel.

  • Aperture and iPhoto issues

I just got Aperture a few weeks ago, so I don't know what the heck I'm doing with it. I have been using iPhoto up until now. When I first opened Aperture I somehow figured out how to import my iPhoto library to it. And now in the "libraries" part on the left I can see my Aperture and my iPhoto libraries. So far so good.
I just hooked my camera up from taking super moon pictures last night and all my pix went into iPhoto. Ok so I'll change that but I a having trouble getting those photos from iPhoto into Aperture. In iPhoto I made them an event and an album. However when I open Aperture it still has the iPhoto event/album set up that was there the very first time I imported those iPhoto pix into Aperture 2 weeks ago. What I'm saying is that the event and album that I just made in iPhoto with the super moon pix are not showing up in my Aperture when I look at the iPhoto stuff under set up.
So when I open iPhoto I see the new super moon event and album but when I open Aperture and go to iphoto in the library (I don't really have to go there the iphoto stuff is listed below the Aperture stuff) none of the new albums or events that I've uploaded from my camera are there. Just the ones that were there the very first time I moved stuff from iPhoto to Aperture 2 weeks ago.
So how do I get the iPhoto set up to update in Aperture? What is the best way to get these photos into Aperture?
Oh I also tried going to import in Aperture and then did "browse iPhoto library" when I do that I can see the new moon pix but... how do I actually import them (they are in RAW)? There are no check boxes next to them and if I highlight them I don't see an import button. What use is "browsing the iPhoto library" if once you browse it you can import the pix?
The next thing I did was "import iPhoto library" and I checked do not "import duplicates" Well guess what? It did import duplicates so now I have all my pix doubled in Aperture, so instead of 5000 pictures that I had, I now have 10,000. Please help me! (how do I get rid of 5000 duplicates!?)
    Susan
(wishing Aperture was as easy to use as iPhoto)
PSS - the funny thing is - in that import it didnt move/find the super moon photos! The only way I seem to be able to get them to Aperture is by copying the RAW files to the desktop and then getting them that way.

    Hi Susan,
Welcome to the user-supported Aperture discussion group.
So how do I get the iPhoto set up to update in Aperture? What is the best way to get these photos into Aperture?
Hook your camera up again and import them into Aperture. Importing an iPhoto library is meant to be a *one shot* thing -- to get your Aperture library initialized with your existing photos. After that, there is no mechanism to synchronize libraries, as you should be using only one of these two applications.
The next thing I did was "import iPhoto library" and I checked do not "import duplicates" Well guess what? It did import duplicates so now I have all my pix doubled in Aperture, so instead of 5000 pictures that I had, I now have 10,000.
A lot of people have been writing about this. That "do not import duplicates" does seem to be a rather useless function. I'm not sure if something broke in a recent version of Aperture. You should definitely provide feedback to the Aperture team about your experience.
In any case, if you have your complete iPhoto library still (and it sounds like you do), then start a new Aperture library, and start the complete import process over again. Then, don't use iPhoto for anything while you are evaluating Aperture, or else you'll find yourself in the same problem.

  • Add and Group Graphic Styles, Brushes, Patterns to Libraries - Request

The addition of cloud Libraries is fantastic; currently dragging any object in a library to a new document brings anything in that object such as appearances, graphic styles, brushes, patterns, etc., into that document along with it. Great!
I'm submitting a feature request that would evolve the libraries to allow for dragging brushes, pattern swatches, graphic styles, etc., into the Library of choice, allowing the designer to include all of these in a project library, for example. It would also be great to be able to group these together, or sort them, possibly into sub-folders if someone chooses. It would save a step of having to drag an object containing those elements onto the artboard, plus the user would be able to view distinct elements associated with a project (brushes, styles, etc.) for a more top level view of what pre-styled elements have been saved to the libraries. Thanks!
    cheers,

  • Aperture 2 and 3 and Snow Leopard

My system with Aperture 2 was perfect.
Then I believe that Snow Leopard killed Aperture 2.
When I first installed Snow Leopard my machine felt like new again but slowly and slowly over the last few months the whole system seems to feel less and less snappy.
I don't use many video-intensive applications - my main one is Aperture 2, so this is where I find my main cause for concern.
Painfully slow adjustments with lagging, beach-balling, CPU-hogging, and RAM theft.
The main culprits seem to be Highlights/Shadows, Straighten, Crop, and Retouching… although my open mind says that could simply be because they form the latter part of my tweaking process.
There seems to be a thumbnail generation issue. Every adjustment that is made generates a new thumbnail - as you work through your tweaks that process seems to get backed up and slow everything down.
There seems to also be a video issue. Tweaking horizontal photos in full screen causes twice as much lag as a vertical image. Why? Take a look - it's obvious - in full screen edit a vertical image is about half the size of a horizontal one.
There seems to be a memory issue. Aperture seems to use a large amount of processor and RAM and sometimes doesn't let go of it or it gets caught in some kind of a loop. I've no idea what I'm talking about here. All I know is when I look at Activity Monitor the numbers are going through the roof and I can barely concentrate on them because of the noise from my fans.
There have been various and quite diverse suggestions on this and other forums as to what the underlying problem is and I have done my best to look into those and see what can help.
    I have an early-2008 MBP 4,1 - 2.6 Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB (factory-fitted) RAM - GeForce 8600M (512MB) GT.
I have done everything possible: all software totally up-to-date, re-installed combo updates, rebuilt Aperture libraries, run consistency checks, fresh Aperture install, fresh Snow Leopard install, repaired permissions, booted in 32bit, booted in 64bit, run hardware tests, deleted plists, cleared caches, downloaded and run applications like Onyx and Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner (amongst others) to ensure everything is in ship-shape along with various test applications to gauge if components like my hard drive are dying.
I keep my system clean and tidy. I have now stripped out bloat. I even took out iPhoto in case its 'iLife' browser link to Aperture was an issue. I have 85GB free on a 200GB. All components are original as factory-fitted by Apple.
Everything that any seemingly intelligent person on any decent forum has suggested has been done - in particular I thank the many users here on the Apple forum for all their information sharing… I try to read them all.
From what I see on the forums, I am not alone.
    Nothing has fixed this problem.
I (and no doubt many others) have fed this information back to Apple.
Aperture 2 and/or Snow Leopard has a problem that has not been fixed.
Aperture 3 got released and I trialled it and swiftly uninstalled it because the exact same problems are there - even with one single photo in it.
My concern is that Apple will not fix the cause of the problem which seems to lie outside of Aperture.
If Apple concentrate on making Aperture 3 work better inside a possibly shaky Snow Leopard then I will be very disappointed.
I'm not forking out for a new version of software just because Apple broke my current software. Don't get me wrong - I do actually WANT to buy Aperture 3 because it has functional improvements and advancements that I would love to be using providing it works properly - and for me (and it appears for 'quite a few' others as well) it just simply doesn't… and neither does Aperture 2 any more.
I am no technical expert (as you've probably noted already) but a MAJOR bug seems to lie in the relationship between Snow Leopard, graphics cards, and the way it handles memory - and so in turn graphically-intensive applications like Aperture are high-lighting these problems more than others.
I am sure there are people without these problems. Perhaps these problems relate to specific hardware configurations. My configuration is Apple standard. I really shouldn't have these problems.
Until Apple fix this major bug I cannot remotely consider Aperture 3.
Until Apple fix this major bug I could never buy Apple again.
Up until Snow Leopard you had a VERY happy camper. I had a perfect machine and I was shouting Mac from the rooftops to anyone that would listen.
And then it seems Snow Leopard broke my machine.
    What a shame.
I really want to use Apple, I actually really like Snow Leopard, I really want to use Aperture, I really want to carry on telling people how wonderful the Apple Mac experience is (or was...) but Apple are currently making it very difficult for me to continue doing so.
    Please fix Snow Leopard.
This will hopefully fix Aperture 2 and Aperture 3.
Unless anyone else has a fix?
Sincere apologies to all for banging on for so long !!

    Thanks for your input setwart.
When I make adjustments I do want Aperture to provide me with a new version so that I can see the original image and also that I have a version which I have already adjusted. I've previously tried changing that preference before with no improvement in performance unfortunately, but it's not really what I was referring to.
Versions, thumbnails and previews were very confusing terms to me for a while… actually, in some ways, they still are but my understanding is 'a little' better now.
That said, I probably used the wrong term.
What I meant was that every time you make an adjustment Aperture seems to produce a 'record' or 'snap-shot' of your image including that latest adjustment. In so doing you have an entire history of each adjustment you have made. In my head I picture this like a movie film-strip with each frame differing slightly. You increase your saturation by a single point? Another snap-shot. Fancy another single point on your saturation? Another snap-shot… and so on.
It is typical that I will make a bare minimum of 20 adjustments on each image, and that's before even thinking about straightening, cropping, and retouching… and then maybe I'll go back and tweak everything again !!
Somehow, my system is having difficulty in keeping up to speed with all of those snap-shots of individual adjustments. Certain adjustments will drastically slow things down more than others, and then I get to play with the beach-balls.
But - it used to handle these things just fine and that's what I'm trying to get back to.
    Thanks again for getting involved.

  • Aperture 3 and NIK- plugins, problems...

I wonder whether others like me have experienced problems after rendering a photo in NIK's HDR EFEX Pro, and returning to Aperture 3....the latter crashes rather often? Any comments about this issue would be most welcome. Mamster 37

    Hi.
I just happen to have the same problem. I reported it to Nik Technical Support and was given this advice :
HDR Efex Pro 2 takes advantage of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) of the computer system. The GPU is also sometimes referred to as the Display Adapter or Video Card, in any case they are all the same. Sometimes certain video cards will not handle this additional processing. You will note this when opening an image into HDR Efex Pro 2 and one or more of the following happens: 1.) HDR Efex Pro 2 will crash right away, or 2.) if it opens the imported image will sometimes not be displayed correctly (solid gray, black or white image), or 3.) the buttons will not display correctly, or 4.) the responsiveness is simply very slow.
In order to resolve this, the first measure would be to update the Display Adapters or GPU driver.
Mac Users: Generally the video card that comes with your Mac will be updated automatically. The exception may be when there has been an additional video card added. In that case the user may need to go to the video card manufacturer's website to download an updated driver for their secondary GPU. If you are using Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6) ensure to update to 10.6.6 or higher as this can affect performance. If this does not apply to you, please go to the next section below.
Windows Users: Locate the manufacturer of the GPU as well as the model number.Once this is determined, it is then recommended to go directly to the GPU manufacturer's website (best option) or if that is not possible to go to the computer manufacturer's website (secondary option) to obtain an updated video card driver. It is NOT recommended to use Windows Update as in general we have found that these drivers are not updated as frequently. To identify which video card you have please do the following:
Click on Start >Control Panel>System & Security >System >Device Manager and then click on the plus next to Display Adapter, this should display the make and model information.
Go to the manufacturer's website (you may need to search for it via Google) such asNvidea.com and with the model number you should be able to search for the latest driver. If you are unable to locate the driver you may need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain an updated driver.
Once the latest GPU driver is located, download and install the new driver.
Restart the computer and try HDR Efex Pro 2 once again.
If after following the above steps, you are still experiencing the same issue, the next step will be to either disable the GPU (if possible) or force HDR Efex Pro 2 to not use the GPU (safe-mode). If HDR Efex Pro 2 states your GPU is not in use, the following steps may still be necessary to improve performance. In order to disable the GPU in HDR Efex PRO 2 please do the following:
If you are able to open HDR Efex Pro 2 and can see part of the interface, see if you can click on the"Settings" button in the lower left.
In Settings locate the section "GPU" and expand it, in this section you will see a check box "Enable GPU Processing", uncheck this so the GPU will be disabled, then close the settings window.
Close out of HDR Efex Pro 2 (click Cancel), quit out of any and all host applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture), and then relaunch HDR Efex Pro 2 to see if this corrects this issue.
If you are unable to disable the GPU via settings (e.g. HDR Efex Pro 2 crashes or the buttons are not displaying correctly), please try the following steps below after quitting out of all host applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture):
    Mac Users:
Open a finder window (or double click on the Macintosh HD on the desktop) and navigate to:
    Macintosh HD : Users : <user name> : Library :Preferences : Nik Software : HDR Efex Pro 2
Locate the file, HDREfexPro2.cfg and right-click and choose "open with..." and then click "Choose" and then locate the applications, "TextEdit" to open this file.
At the very beginning (before all the text) of the configuration file, paste the following code below verbatim:
    <configuration>
    <group name="INTERN">
    <key name="UseSafeMode" type="bool" value="1"/>
    </group>
    </configuration>
Now save the file, close it and relaunch HDR Efex Pro 2 and see if the issue has been resolved.
I have follwed all the recomendations but with no results. I talked to Nik's Support today and together we have verified that the tiff stored by Nik HDR Efex Pro 2 inside the Aperture Librarty is fine. The problem is with Aperture graphic memory management. As a matter of fact, if you experience the problem, you will also see that not only the image edited with HDR Pro 2 can be affected, but also any other you open in your strip after it has occured the first time.
    Below is a typical result.

  • Aperture albums and items missing, but they appear to be listed in apalbums

Greetings, all, I might be facing a lot of work to redo in my near future that I'd like to avoid. Any help would be appreciated.
I recently (about a week ago, and without any logical explanation that I could think of, unless my new Time Machine drive is more like a wrecking ball for Aperture) had several albums go missing from one particular project. The images in those albums are missing from the Aperture library as well. I've tried a database rebuild (took several hours) and also a consistency check (took several hours). Neither of those options seemed to change anything. The library size is about 100 GB, and it lives on an external hard drive. The files in question are from two days, and it's probably a few hundred at most. But they had all been edited. The masters are referenced across other external hard drives. The masters are fine and they are not missing.
All of my adjustments (and organization through Aperture and metadata) seem to have vanished. I've searched for the dates of missing files in the "All Photos" built-in smart album of the library, I've searched for "File Status:Missing" and I think I've tried about everything else I can think of. I've done many Internet forum searches, including one here in the Apple forums that came up with this unanswered post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8276709&#8276709
I've been unable to make any rhyme or reason of what has caused this problem. I'm starting to think there might not be an easy way to fix this problem and I might have to just re-tone, re-edit, and re-layout the book as well. That would be several hours of work that I'm not looking forward to.
If I look into the package contents of the Aperture library and go all the way down to the project where stuff is missing from, I can see all the albums there as "[album name].apalbum." When I take a look inside those files, I see what appears to be the information of my album in there, including a few hundred strings that are probably references to the images. Sadly, though, these xml documents that I've read were the beauty of Aperture because they had the potential to rebuild a broken database don't seem to be working.
My next idea, barring anything better that somebody pitches my way, is to export all the projects I've added or edited since the last vault update (Dec. 1) and then rebuild from the vault and reimport the projects that haven't been backed up. I'm not even sure this will work because I really don't know when this problem happened. I haven't been in those albums in probably at least a month.
Anybody have any ideas that might be a help to me?

    Update:
Thanks to these two posts that I ended up finding (links at the bottom), I only spent about two days working on this. The most time consuming part was testing this on a copy of the library, rebuilding the database to determine if it would work. After it did, I tried it on the real library.
Aperture sometimes seems a little quirky and I've been unable to figure out how my problem happened. I've been considering a move to Lightroom now for a while, and this issue is one thing that helps me want to move that direction. The other thing is that Apple didn't introduce non-destructive brush edits like Adobe, and it doesn't seem like this will happen anytime soon.
Anyway, I hope nobody else has this happen to them.

Help, I had aperture open and working on a image and did not have a battery in and bumped the power off. As a result it will not open my master, it is locked. when I try to open that Library  it says There was an error opening the database for the library. I have tried every thing. I updated the other libr but now it will not open the main to update. What do I do?

Try starting Aperture with the command and option keys held down.  You'll get 3 options.
Try each, starting at the top, in order, checking after each to see if it fixes the issue.

  • Gaming issues and heat issues, running windows 8.1 pro via bootcamp

I have a few problems, and I don't know what else to do, then to write for help here..
I really hope someone out there can help me, because I have had this problem since I bought my laptop mid 2012, and I got smarter since then, so now I know that I actually shouldn't have these problems, it's not because my very expensive laptop is bad, or that it is a laptop or because it's a mac, regardless of what people say, I'm positively certain that it's a problem which shouldn't be there.
I have pretty great specs, (trust me i checked them out, not the best in the world, but pretty good) yet I can't enjoy 1 single mmorpg game like, Tera, or the new Archeage (currently in open beta), or any other game, (swordsman online)... Even though people say Tera has bad coding, I have tried adjusting things for weeks if not months, NOTHING helps, i get a frame rate that is from 0-25 very unstable, usually around 7-12, and sure if I go the lowest settings in the games I can get very unstable framerates but i guess they can get up to around 35-72 but drops to like 7 or 3 sometimes as well, so even on the LOWEST settings in the games I can't enjoy the games fully... It lags and such because of the low fps ofc...
Other than that it also have a heat issue, mostly when running windows 8.1 in bootcamp.
It get's quite hot, just by opening a browser window, and yes i have tried reseting smc, and p-rams, many times.. nothing seems to help.
And even if it helped the heat problem, the gaming problem is still there.
Now to my specs: (I have the macbook pro retina, mid 2012, 15 inch)
    - Prosseser: 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache. "Core i7" processor (3720QM)
    - Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
    - Storage: 256GB ssd flash storage. (Seperated into os x = 130GB, windows 8.1 pro = 120GB) Running games and such from my 1TB external harddisk.
    - Graphics and video support:
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, at millions of colors.
And here's a link to see what is inside it for yourself: http://http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core- i7-2.6-15-mid-2012-retina-display-specs.html
When that is said, apple's warranty has run out, and I didn't buy apple care, but I still have warranty from the store (humac) I bought it in, because in my country the law is warranty 2 years, no matter what, but if i can avoid it, I REALLY would like to avoid switching it out with a new one, since there could be problems all over again, and I would lose what I have on it right now, plus it's a hassle to get a new one, they will always try and fix it for a long long time before they give a new one, and probably can't find the problem...
But if that's the only thing i can do about it, I will ofc, but just don't advise me to do that, unless there's no other solution to the problems.
    Please help me.
ps: sorry if I posted it the wrong place, I wasn't allowed to post it the right place by apple...

If the underlying hardware was exposed correctly by the CSM-BIOS when Windows was installed, your Device Manager should look like this.
If the Windows installer did not see any devices as your screen indicates, Windows will use generic software-based drivers which will be very slow and painful.
Rudegar ... I think the Windows installer did not see  any hardware, otherwise there should be HW with yellow triangles with exclamation marks.
